Question How do I get Outlook's calendar to be visible on Samsung Calendar? (Exchange is throwing errors) - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Hello
How do I get my Outlook calendar to appear on my my Samsung Calendar (on my Samsung S22 Ultra, which is running Android 13)?
Background
I am using Outlook /Office365 on my Windows10 PC.
I am also using the Microsoft Outlook app on my S22 Ultra.
If I go to Android's Settings ==> Accounts and Backup ==> Manage accounts ==> johnsmith@johnsmith.com/Exchange ==> Sync account /Sync on for all items... then I get this error message.

I have tried uninstalling & the reinstalling ALL Microsoft apps, including Outlook, Microsoft 365 (Office), OneDrive, Authenticator etc.
Removing the account and then re-adding it back in doesn't get rid of the above errors.
It looks like Exchange itself on my phone is corrupted.
What should I do?
J
PS If all else fails, is there a way of backing up ALL my data, doing a factory reset, and then reinstalling everything?

Have you just given away your email ID in the post? If so, delete it.
I see that you have added your Microsoft account to your Gmail app. Is that correct?
Is your email syncing fine?
I add my Microsoft account to my Gmail by creating an app password in my Microsoft account and use that in the password field:
Domain/ Username is same as your email address.
All my calendar entries in Microsoft account automatically show up in my Google Calendar, which would also show up in my Samsung Calendar (even though I don't use it).
All your Microsoft account data like emails, contacts, calendar entries are saved in your Microsoft account in the cloud. You don't have to back them up manually.
There is nothing wrong with your phone.

Do you have a gmail e-mail account or an outlook one? If it's the latter another easier way is to keep your outlook separate and just choose it from the manage your accounts setting and just synch your outlook calander right there. I use the samsung calander app to access my outlook calander and go from there.

No, I hate Google's violation of our privacy!
So no, I don't want to use google more than I absolutely have to.
[ Yes, I have a gmail email address - which i barely use, and I only have it because I have an Android phone.]
To get clear, I want to only use Microsoft and not Google.

On your screenshot, you have added your Exchange account to Gmail app, isn't it?

Hi, do you have a two step password verification enabled in your Outlook account, like authorizing use the Authenticator app or something alike? This could be preventing the calendar to be added.

I had the same problem. There is a toggle where you enable it in the email settings.
Let me see if i can find it again.

this looks very interesting. I currently use Seven (www.seven.com) to connect to my work OWA. But since I have AS connected to my personal hosted exchange I cannot sync my work calendar and contacts.
If you can get 2 way calendar and contacts sync, while AS is connected to another server, this would RULE
If you could also enable email sync along with the calendar, contacts, etc. this would be (in my opinion) the best application for the Windows Mobile platform. Please consider it!
Absolutely agree with BPB21.
This app doesn't sync single calendar updates/changes but rather the whole calendar (for the defined time period), right?

Why would you want that?
I mean, you get the same effect exactly if you define your email accounts, and update via GPRS/WIFI/BT, right?

I agree. My school wants to charge me a monthly fee for accessing the exhange server so I can't get my email.

google sinc and messy contact problem

ok. SO I am officially sick and tired of having to re do contacts and apps after every flash. I have google sinc checked, but no apps ever seem to auto re download, except maybe maps and another... as well as every time i have to re do my contact list, add from sim to phone, then add in facebook contacts. what am i doing wrong? why do i always have to re link up contacts and why is it always so messy, with like duplicates and contacts with 2 of the same number? is there some damn guide to that? am I missing something or is it always suppose to be a pain in the ass?
any help is greatly appreciated. I can sit here and flash a new rom in ten minuets and spend a hour or more re doing my damn contact list, apparently it doesnt like me...
I tryed save to Sd card, but then I had the problem of it loading in MORE duplicate files, and if I do that Im assuming I cant have facebook contacts with out same problem ? ? what do you guys do and what am i doing wrong? Thanks
Have you tried to use google to sync your contacts to it? This can be done in settings-accounts-and checking the sync contacts.
Also, have you tried titanium backup to backup contact data?
I have never tried either of these since I just user my sim card for contacts, but maybe one of these will save you an got after each flash.

wow umm i just went through this.. it does get messy but it can be fixed and have your phone, google and facebook ALL sync to the same correct contact..
Back up to SD first (you did)
Phone Contacts> Menu button> More >Display
UNCHECK PHONE
CHECK GOOGLE
Phone Contacts> Menu button> Settings> Save new contacts to GOOGLE
go to gmail.com on computer > import contacts > use backup on SD card
phone Settings> Accounts and Sync > Google> Sync contacts
now all new contacts automatically go to google and sync to phone.
for facebook use built in facebook syncing, not the App based syncing.
Phone contacts> menu button > get freinds > Facebook >check ones you want to sync.
Go through contact list, LONG Press contact> Join Contact

2 issues though, syncing with google contacts I believe doesnt let me set custom ringtones.
and the other is that when i sync with google i seem to get all the damn emails ive ever communicated with over like 10 years so its like a billion random emails ( craigslist, ebay, work, school, ect.)
????

I believe you can use custom ringtones with google contacts..I just tried mine and I have the option to use them.
All my contacts are synced with google...so when I flash a ROM, I just add my google account and all the contacts are there. Plus I like the fact I can control my contacts in gmail. Go to your contacts in gmail and choose what you want there...
As for apps, use titanium backup to back them up.
I use contacts groupu from the market. Works great for groups then all u have to do is set the ringtone after a flash. Works great for me! Let me know if u need any help.

cant find the import setting in gmail. I just see import from another email account?
Found it. Can't seem to link ringtones though

push email in stock email (google apps) client

I'm using CM10 (TeamChopsticks Alpha 1a) with Google Apps (jb-72612). On the email client, I can add an Exchange account and it gives me the option to push messages. But if I add a gmail account (even after deleting the Exchange), there is no option to push-- the most frequent checking is 5 mins.
Back on the stock Samsung/Skyrocket email app, I had push enabled on my Exchange account plus as many gmail accounts as I wanted. Any ideas?
Hi!
Push email does not work when using a POP3 or IMAP account. You have to use an Exchange account. By default, when you add a Gmail account in the Email app, it is recognized as either an IMAP account or a POP3 account.
Fortunately, Gmail can work as an Exchange account. When you add your Gmail account -- either in the Email app or though System settings > Accounts & sync > Add account:
- First enter your email address and your password;
- Once your password has been entered, you will see the Manual Setup button becoming active. Click on it;
- Select the type of email account you want to add -- select Exchange;
- Domain\Username should be your Gmail address, Password should be already filled with your password. You will have to modify the Server string and input m.google.com. Click next;
- Now, the Automatic (Push) sync option should be available to you.
(I'm on CM9, though, but I guess the procedure to add a new email account has not changed a lot since then...)
Wow, that did the trick.
Thanks, man. Any way I can pay you back more than a "thanks" click?
I used the gmail-exchange push method on the sgs3 i9300 stock email client and it worked, but it sucked lots of data, like 1MB per night instead of a few KB how it worked on stock sgs2 i9100.

This is new to me. So the Gmail app doesn't support push email?
No. Samsung email on sgs3 doesn't do push. It works to some extent with google email ( nit yahoo email) with exchange service.

Google sync [solved]

>>I have a problem with my contacts app. It doesn't even show my google account and I can't sync contacts. Does anyone else have this problem on chinese rom and does anyone know how to fix it?<<
SOLVED
So, while I got my phone with preinstalled google services, I wasn't aware that not all of them have been preloaded. If anyone else runs into this problem here's a list of google apps and services you have to install:
Google Play Services
Google Play Store
Google Services Framework
Google Account Management
Google Contacts Sync Service
Google Calendar Sync Service
Setup Wizard APK
They're all available on sites like apk mirror and such.
Not really sure what's going on... But if I have to guess a fix,
1. Try updating your GMS services
2. Very important: turn in developer mode, and turn off MiUI optimization in the developer settings.
3. Go to contact app in app manager and give it all the permissions, including autostart and no restrictions on battery.
4. Finally go to settings of contacts and check if your correct email id is selected. (If you have multiple g id logged in)
5. Also try going to Accounts in settings and check if sync is turned on and manually sync it.
6. Reboot and check.
Let me know if it helped.
I updated GMS. MIUI optimization is off. There's no permission settings for contacts app since it's system app. In contact settings I can't see my google account (that's what I was complaining about. And in accounts under google I don't have contacts to sync. Only calendar, docs, drive, gmail etc, no contacts.

Oh Wait never mind, I already have Google Play Services set up, they just weren't working.
What I did to fix it was to remove all accounts and Wipe Cache in TWRP before re-adding the accounts back.

SMS Backup+ alternative?

Is there any alternative to old SMS Backup+ app? I want SMS messages uploaded to Gmail and watch them like conversation. SMS Backup & Restore is great but not that great because messages are in .xml file and I can't see contacts separetly.
Maybe you can try Coolmuster Android Backup Manager, if your phone is Android based. This tool can help us back up text messages and other data from Android phone to the computer easily. Then you can check it easily. And more, it's free to do that. Just have a try.
actually I tried on another way.I have web hosting and now I upload SMS messages to the server.
But I have email address from web hosting paired with gmail my messages are not mowed on gmail.
But at least now I can upload messages online.

how and what do you use to upload to your server?
I already have my own blog website. So I created another email address which is used only for SMS backup. And then put IMAP settings from this email to SMS Backup+

okay thanks
I read up on accessing it this way using an app password
how safe is this though do you know?
seems like if the sms+ app was compromised, they would have a password to get into my gmail account which bypasses 2factor
I don't know how safe it is. But if they want to get into your gmail account that would do even when it was only one click away from connecting.
But now they can access only to your another email address.

I was thinking of my main gmail
I'll just make a gmail account for SMS texts only, thanks!!
Oh, you thinking of mail gmail account. Maybe you can try other email providers, like yahoo.
On your gmail you can only transfer emails. But because it was in different folder gmail did not automatically transfer. You need to do it manually. It's annoying, yes.
But more safely because you can select what you want to transfer.
