I'm currently on Lineage 19.1 (build by AndyYan) and the volume button doesn't do anything, it justs shows the volume adjuster without increasing or decreasing it whatever, when I manually drag the volume bar up to the max it just decrease back down automatically. By the way, it's always at max volume for the audio. Anyway, I tried running it through scrcpy but it gives "WARN: Demuxer 'audio': stream explicitly disabled by the device".
You'd probably get more help by bringing this up in the thread for that ROM.

Updated to Ranju's. Straight afterwards I've installed a few apps - opera, newsgater pro, flash and vijay555 (torch app).
Now I'm finding I can't stream 3gp from sites such as youtube. Also for some strange reason my device keeps setting the screen brightness level to 0. Happened a few times in very intense sunlight so I didn't care. Happened a few times at work which is annoying, but I won't be able to use my phone if it happens in the dark.
Only pattern I've noticed is that the phone seems to be doing it sometimes when turning it off powersave mode by holding the power or backlight button.
I think I've realised why 3gp downloads won't play - somehow my security certificates on my phone seem to be screwed - possibly as a result of getting down to around 200k of free memory. Time for a reflash it looks like.
Anyone got any ideas about the backlighting?
any way to get the certification back with out re-flash?

the backlight? well like u said... when u hold on the power butten for sometime the blacklight turns off....n if u hold on to it again then it will turn itself on again...
so u can say u have 2 option with the power butten
hold on to it then the backlight turns of n on
hold n release then it goes to power saver mode
hope that helps
Hi
I had same problem when I changed the wktask settings.
I think that is the problem...
My focus got wet & now only my volume down button kinda works... I use my headset to turn my volume up & down now... Is it a way to do this through the os without the hardware buttons? If not nodo... Mango?
I also wanted to know this, my buttons work fine but is there no on screen volume? and can you only fast forward and rewind by holding the forward and back arrows in zune?
Doesn't make since how many features that were in a old 2002 pocket pc's aren't in 2011 wp7....

The same exact thing happened to me. Except it was beer, and only the volume down worked.
But couple of weeks ago I started hard pressing the up button and suddenly it started working even though its kinda stiff. This was after being like this for 6 months! It was a miracle.
Hi guys,
there is a propram in the market place called media volume setting will do the job for you
Thanks for the help! But... that app no longer works with nodo or mango... Any other suggestions?

You have unlocked device?
I have a program that will set the volume at 25. I will upload it a bit later. I made it for my girlfriends phone that has a broken volume up button. Only problem is that adjusting volume from the registry requires a reboot to pick up the new setting. I am working on one for in call volume also.

I had a htc hd2 an unlocked it easy but i am having trouble with my focus.... Any easy methods?
I don't know if you still need to know this, since the thread is a couple months old, or if it will be helpful to anyone, but I had this exact same problem (except it was the condensation from a Subway cup), and recently came across an interesting solution.
There is a Trivia game you can download for free from the Marketplace called "Disney_Quiz" (screenshots included so you can make sure its the right one.) that will automatically turn the volume all the way up for you to 30/30.
I didn't do anything remotely special to make the volume turn up auto, I just fiddled a bit with the buttons in the game, clicked this here, clicked that there, tapped the volume down button on the phone a bunch of times, and eventually the volume restores itself to 30/30.
Hope this was of help.
P.S. The game itself sucks, but whenever I accidently turn my phone to silent and the volume drops to 0... it's nice to know I can still turn it back up.
Okay here's the deal I have a Windows phone I change my password but I forgot my password and I I can't hard reset it because my volume up button is broke so I was wondering if there was another way to unlock my Windows phone?
Any idea why my TF700T will sometimes not come out of idle\sleep?
I hit the power button to use it and the screen doesn't come up. I can hear the sounds of various alerts and such, but I don't see anything, it's just black.
I have to either push the little reset button or hold the power + vol down at the same time to reboot it.
This is kind of annoying when I'm sitting in class...
Anyone else having this issue and\or know how to fix it?
Thanks

There are at least 2 other threads on this topic and it seems more and more people are reporting this problem, including myself.
Didn't find a reason/fix for it yet, but am on a hunt.
I suspect this is app related, so we should eventually do a side by side compare of installed apps, or, as i read somewhere else (asus transformer prime forums) it could be a bug in the latest ICS update. But, in this case, i think more people would be experiencing it.
I doubt and hope it is not HW related.
This only happens to me when the tablet is in power save mode and the brightness is in the lowest position. However, if I connect the dock and turn up the brightness with the button, it wake up again.
The solution is never suspend in power save mode and with the minium brightness. Works for me.
I don't have the dock, so you're saying just to never have it at the absolute lowest setting of brightness and it'll fix this? even a slight degree higher and it won't do it?
thanks for the replies guys

Exactly! But if you have in lowest brightness position in Power balance mode (or perfomance mode) you dont have this problem. Only happens in power safe mode. Try it and give us feddback.

I am seeing this too on .30
try rooting and setting a higher minimum clock speed?
or maybe performance mode?
not sure as this has never happened to me but its always docked so that might make a difference.
So far I've moved it by like minor degrees, or as little as I could away from the very last setting (low end) with it in power saving mode, and it hasn't done it again.
I usually keep it in power save mode as opposed to balanced and high performance because I use it mostly for classes and that's when I was coming across the problem.
Thanks guys
Op - while i am sure the problem is aggravating, please be sure to not duplicate posts. Because you have an answer, i am closing this one. Please direct future questions to your previous thread.

Same things happens to me sometimes. Here's what I do:
Reboot the tablet
Go to setting/developer options
Scroll all the way down and select Background Process Limit & select 3
For me, it's usually the number of apps that startup by themselves that slow the tablet down, which makes the wake button delay. Hope that helps.
Sometimes it happens to me also and as you can see in my signature my tf300 is on JB 4.2 running CROMi-X 5.4, Hund's Kernel
So i dont know if it is a problem with CM or app specific

When it will not wake up, try this. Do the long hold of the power button, let it reboot back into android ...
Then with adb enabled in dev options. Run this command from your PC .
Code:
adb pull /proc/last_kmsg
Post that for us to see ...
Thx Josh

Thank i try to dot that and I post-it.
PS : I already try to reduce min freq cpu.
Yeah I had the problem too, seems like CPU can't ramp up frequency fast enough. Try to set min cpu freq to 370 or something, choose some other governor or change the kernel. The problem disappeared after installing grimlock as I remember.
Even though I am no expert in the hardware of mobiles but how can a volume rocker be fixed via changing the display?
I even watched a youtube phone unboxing and the screen is in no way connected to the volume button.
Any help ?
