Question Downgrade without loosing data? - ASUS ROG Phone 5 / 5s

I am on Android 12 can I downgrade without losing data? For some reason my internal memory is not showing but it does show that its half way full is it possible?

It's already if you have this problem you have to factory reset your phone so there is no way to downgrade without losing data

I would think you should be able to flash the downgraded rom you are looking manually with TWRP and keep your data. Flash it to your inactive slot and switch slot (optional), that way you can switch back if something goes wrong. And backup your data just in case.

How to unroot my TF without loosing data? I've seen a couple ways to unroot, but both say to wipe data. Is there a way to restore without wiping data? I'd like to get the latest update.

Downgrade from lollipop without losing data

Hi everyone
I received an update notification a couple of days ago and updated my oneplus one to lollipop. however I really don't like it, it messed up with many of of settings(taskers, profiles settings etc) and I want to downgrade now back to how it was before.
I didn't backup before updating, is it possible to downgrade without losing data?
thank you

Yes you can downgrade without losing internal storage data only!
All apps with it's data will be lost
I followed this guide for that :: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/guide-how-to-revert-back-to-cm11s-from-oxygen-guide.290605/
This will work only if you have unlocked bootloader and you are on TWRP recovery(As I tested on it and this works for CMOS12 or any other lollipop based ROM too)
thank you for the reply. Losing apps data it's a problem then, I have apps with data, configurations, settings etc and if downgrading ends up resetting them then it's a problem.

Do you have root? If not, root the device and then you can use Titanium Backup to backup all of your user apps (along with their data), then once you've reverted to KitKat you can root again and use Titanium to restore your apps.

Remove personal files securely

Hi there. So I sell my OPO. Well, i got myself a OP3, mainly because of LTE in Germany (band20) and the dual sim.
Someone will buy it on sunday, so by then, I will obviously go through the sticky "[GUIDE] Return your OPO to 100% Stock"
My question would be, after I backed my files up on my PC, what method should I use in order to delete my files on the phone?
Many people say factory reset is enough, some say it isn't. My idea was to encrypt the phone via settings and then perform a data wipe via stock recovery. Will that work? Shouldn't then theoretically every file be - even if recoverable after factory reset - encrypted, thus useless?
Or am I overthinking things here?lol
thanks!
You are certainly overthinking about it. Just do a factory reset and erase all your personal media .

That guide to 100% stock will wipe the internal storage. No need to do anything extra. Fastboot flash latest available images for returning to stock includes flashing a userdata image. That will wipe it clean of everything

Hi,
yeah. I did this, then encrypted the phone, got the whole (empty) internal storage full with big dummy files, did a factory reset inside the phone.
Even if recoverable, it would still be encrypted. Even if decrypted, it would be (like) 58GB of dummy files and nothing else.
I know, I am a bit paranoid, but I got lots of personal and important stuff on there.

Android 5.0.1/5.0.2 - Encrypted and Rooted - Bootloop/bricked: Can I recover?

Hi guys, here's my dilemma:
Samsung Galaxy S6 with Android 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 (I forget which)
Rooted & Full device encryption
Want to recover my information if possible; no factory reset
My questions:
Is there a way to fix a system to recover my data on a rooted & fully encrypted device?
Would flashing work, and how would I go about the recovery process?
Do I need to know the exact OS (cant remember if 5.0.1 or 5.0.2)
Is there a way to get the encrypted data copied and decrypted so I can read it again? (I heard something called adb can be used?)
Things I have tried: Powering down for a while, clearing cache partition, etc. This is the 4th time it has happened in 1.5 years, and I'm tired of it. Warranty/insurance affected by root status so would have to pay for $150 trade-in. Just want my data and ideally move to a new phone.
Do you not have a recovery backup you can restore ? What exactly are you concerned about loosing in terms of data.. are you worried about loosing pictures saved on your phone or say.. text messages ?
@fOmey - I'm not sure if I had a recovery backup. I did have TWRP(?) installed, though. I am worried about losing many pictures and also app data (to do lists, etc.) that aren't synced with a cloud service.

Boot into TWRP and check if you have a backup, if you don't have a backup you can dirty flash your rom and with a bit of luck you'll boot into your OS.

Does unlocking the bootloader delete the current phone data? Need to make a backup, X3 has write problems after update

I have the problem that my phone has problems to write something to the internal and external 'sdcard', thus I can not make the build-in backup. I am simply on unmodified stock rom, the problem starts with OTA updade 2.5.2.0.RJGEUXM, the phone even can not manage to download the 2.5.3.0.RJGEUXM update, because it simply can not write it to disk. I am not able to download anything, I even can not make a photo.
I managed to flash 2.5.3.0.RJGEUXM and current 2.5.4.0.RJGEUXM by downloading the according recovery images with the PC to an sdcard, putting in the card to the phone and flashing them with the phone update tool by specifying the file(s). The problem still exists, downgrading is rejected by the tool.
I could try with factory reset, but I still have the hope to backup the data first cause reading data still works, the phone works fine up to the point I can not save something. My next idea is to unlock the bootloader, trying custom recovery partition backup as described here in this forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...in-poco-x3-recoveries-orangefox-twrp.4233377/
But I am not sure if it would erase the data anyway when I unlock the bootloader. My former Huawei phone wiped data when unlocking the bootloader.
My options becomes less. Thanks for help
No, it doesnt delete any data. After unlocking the bootloader, the Phone will reboot as normal and everything will be in place just like nothing happened

I don't believe that is correct: after unlocking the bootloader, the phone will perform a factory reset -- OS will remain but any user data will be wiped.
