I would like to use my rooted Pixel 7 Pro's 'Flip to Shh' functionality, but it is not working. (The phone is only rooted so that I can use AdAway - nothing else special.) To test, I put my Pixel 7 on a table, called it from a different number, and heard it ring. I then flipped the phone over (but did not feel the vibration - but I have turned those off), called called it from a different number, and heard it ring again.
I looked for some clues online for things to try and I can confirm:
Bedtime - not enabled
Bluetooth is turned off
Settings->System->Gesture->Flip to shhh - enabled
Settings->Digital Wellbeing & parental controls->Do Not Disturb->Schedules->Flip to Shhh enabled
Google maps driving mode not enabled
Some more weirdness: I put the phone screen face down at night and in the mornings, Do Not Disturb is activated. This makes no sense.
What else can I check/try to make this work properly (and I knwo what should happene because this feature worked as expected on my Pixel 3XL)?

Hi,
On my old phone (Nexus 5, stock rooted android Marshmallow) i had it so that at 23:30 the do not disturb mode activated, leaving no sound at all. At 6:00 AM, the dont disturb would turn to the do not disturb where all priority apps make sound.
Because this never worked i forgot about it, until i got my new S7.
After installing the backup from my google account, the S7 does actually turn off all sounds at 23:30, so it has recovered that part of the settings correctly, but here comes the tricky part:
The rule (23:30-6:00 do not disturb) is in the phone, but there's no way to turn it off! There is no apart tab for 'automatic rules', Just the one schedule (which isn't even turned on).
Every night when im watching a movie or even youtube videos or somehing the sound suddenly turns off, and i have to manually disable and re-enable the do not disturb mode to get my sound back.
Any ideas?
Hey there folks!
Since MiA1 does not have double tap to wake, or you just want funcionality of waking screen and be ready to go with ANY flip case you
might have bought (and screen off when you close it) here is a simple guide to achive so, i have been testing it for 5 days and so far it works flawlessly.
So far im getting only 1% of battery usage overall, meaning the app itself is NOT keeping CPU awake, only the proximity sensor to determine if the case
is closed or not. Really battery friendly overall. Dont know the bad reviews on PlayStore - people moan about anything these days and app does not
work well with any device, but with A1, its a bingo.
1. remove your lockscreen security (set to none) - this is up to you! If you have your phone with you at all times, it
removes the need to do extra steps (draw pattern, PIN, etc...). If you prefer to open case and be taken to locksceen, skip this step!
2. install "EveryCover" DOWNLOAD - !app is add supported! - also, there is paid version which i have so i support the dev, but free one works just as well!
- enter ap and activate the service (works by using Device Admin)
- tick "Auto start at Boot" - so service keeps running after restart
- tick "Service in notification bar" - it will prevent app to be killed by system - more on that later!
- you can even set the time period in which app is inactive (ex. - when you sleep at night)
3. Test the funcinality. Just open and close your case, like you normally would (not 2 times in 1 secs, right ). In my testing of daily usage it almost never "misses".
The screen on is almost instant when you flip the case and screen is set to off after 1 sec of closing case. I tested many many times to see if the screen really switches off, and it
works great. I will also mention that it seems to work even in almost pitch dark (!) and no problems on indoors on evenings etc... It seems that the app is really good at listening to
sensor, or we have a really good proximity sensor on A1!
OPTIONAL STEPS:
Now if you are perfectionist or just like me, 2 things may bother you with this setup, and i will also explain steps how to deal with them.
4. persistant notifications - if you enabled "Service in notification bar" there will be constant notification which may bother you. To deal with this, just long press
on the notification and switch the toggle to the right. (or you can go to app settings and do the same, turn off notifications)
5. "EveryCover running in the background" notification - the last problem you may encounter, altho only the visual one, can be pain to watch. To disable this notification just download this app:
HERE!
Just enter app, grant permission, select "Press to select apps" and choose EveryCover.
You are done! This way, you have:
- working screen on/off solution for ANY flip case
- clean status bar without unnecessary notifications
- persistant service that will NOT be killed by system or after restart
- all that with only 1% of battery usage and no impact on performance what so ever.
Dislclaimer; I am not a dev of any apps mentioned here.
Cheers, hopefully this helps someone!
Magnetic wake / sleep works if you can find a case with magnet placed at correct place built in case.
Phone wakes and sleeps when opened or shut automatically with this feature. Don't be confused with smart cases as not the same thing. I'm late with this reply but works with many phone Inc all my xiaomi phones
I set up Do Not Disturb mode for when I go to bed. It turns on at a certain hour, and turns off at a certain hour. Perfect.
Except, it doesn't work right. I still get sounds and notifications.
So it's useless.
Why is it broken? Or are there additional settings I'm missing?
Same for me on Mi8 with MIUI 10

I have been using DND mode since I bought the phone (stock global firmware, then xiaomi.eu roms and updates) and never had issues.
I set dnd manually and it works fine
Never had problems with DND, but for some reason, there is no application DND notification bypass settings available for any apps, at least on MIUI10. For some reason Xiaomi decided to disable this feature.
Mine doesn't work either. Totally stock.
Just two days ago, I switched from my old phone running AOSP extended (Nougat) to a new Pixel 5. I'm a programmer (no android), so I was willing to pay extra to get "the first class modern Android experience" (software-wise). Of course, I wasn't expecting to get the customization freedom of my previous rom, but the new notification system left me particularly disappointed (to say the least).
Vibration settings are shared by all profiles. I can't disable vibration when in "ring" mode. vibration can be a bit jarring on certain surfaces, audio only is much more pleasant
In vibrate mode, the system respects the global "vibration & haptics" settings (shared with the ring mode), but ignores channel-specific vibration settings.
Thanks to that, you can disable vibration manually for every single notification channel, so that the phone will vibrate only when in vibrate mode (this works only for notifications, calls will still follow the global settings)
The notification settings UI is extremely unhelpful and annoying to navigate.
Channels using the Default profile show a bell icon, but no info whatsoever about vibration, a few squiggly lines would do the trick. Furthermore, the vibration toggle is buried inside a totally unnecessary "advanced" subsection, which the user needs to expand every damn time.
There's no way to tell how an app is configured until you actually go to the settings and check every corner to the last toggle. This is not the way to offer granular control, this is just a way to create a mess.
Every time a new app is installed, the user has to check every single channel and disable the potentially unwanted vibration toggle.
Apparently, system-level notification settings for channels are just suggestions. Apps can behave differently if they want to. What's even the point?
Switching from silent to ring mode resets all the "vibration & haptics" sliders. Might be a bug.
I've never seen such cumbersome and unreliable notification system. One of the fundamental parts of a smartphone.
The same discussion happened on the Google support community, from where I got most of the answers (very helpful!).I have an open support ticket with Google support. The poor man had to forward every single question to the "engineering team" as he had no idea. That should mean something.
Are you experiencing the same issues, or never gave it attention? Every user should be able to set his phone correctly and reliably!
originally posted in r/GooglePixel, I'm interested to discuss here too

Samsung Galaxy Fit2 - $50.
Solved half my problems.
Hey everybody,
from my P6P I was used to being able to navigate my smartphone whilst making a call over the speakers or listening to a voice message over whatsapp.
Now, when doing this, my 7P will again and again shut off the screen because the sensor is triggered. This seens really out of proportion, since it happens far down and only on the left site (i attached an image with the blue trigger zone).
Is this sth you experience as well and can check for me?
Thanks!!
I was also experiencing this annoying issue. It was driving me crazy.
Was able to find a fix though: activate Developers Options and open it. Look for Quick Settings Developers Tiles menu and tap to it. Then tap to Sensors Off to enable it. This will add Sensors Off tile in tiles list in the scroll down top menu of your phone. If you activate (tap on it) it will disable all sensors, proximity sensor included.
The changes will apply immediately so you can do this whilst on phone/video calls and then enable it back after the call. Works like a charm.
Whilst its tempting to leave it disabled all the time, I won't recommend it as it disables all the sensors, for example, automatic screen brightness sensor or auto rotate sensor, so not very convenient.
Yeah, the cut off point is pretty early. I'd recommend using one handed mode to reach for the top of the screen or just trigger speakerphone.

Nice find and it may help some people some of the time. However, would it not be better to just turn on Screen Attention? YMMV
