Why is DND mode broken? - Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Questions & Answers

I set up Do Not Disturb mode for when I go to bed. It turns on at a certain hour, and turns off at a certain hour. Perfect.
Except, it doesn't work right. I still get sounds and notifications.
So it's useless.
Why is it broken? Or are there additional settings I'm missing?

Same for me on Mi8 with MIUI 10

I have been using DND mode since I bought the phone (stock global firmware, then xiaomi.eu roms and updates) and never had issues.

I set dnd manually and it works fine

Never had problems with DND, but for some reason, there is no application DND notification bypass settings available for any apps, at least on MIUI10. For some reason Xiaomi decided to disable this feature.

Mine doesn't work either. Totally stock.

Us mate 9 oreo update kills app

I updated through the phone to oreo. Whenever my screen goes to sleep, my power amp pauses and I am not getting any of my emails, messages etc.. I've checked the settings and applied the do not kill option but it does not resolve my issue. I have tried a factory reset as well.
Mine is intermittent, but, I know sometimes flushing the system cache, along with setting the app setting to never sleep helps.
Also, I have all power saver settings disabled. (with a battery like the Mate, why bother with power savers).
Sometimes, mine still does not send notifications until after I turn the screen on. Mine did it as well with Nougat.

I have tried setting my apps to never sleep but that did nothing for me. Power saver is also disabled.

Wifi shuts itself off and won't turn back on without reboot (Mix 2S Global 9.5.4.0)

Just got my Mix 2S. It's a Global variant. Global Rom 9.5.4.0. Came factory sealed. Has all the usual Google Apps and so forth. Nothing shady. Unrooted/untouched. Completely stock.
Like the title says. Annoying bug. Wifi will shut itself off, I think during sleep, and not wake up when I use the phone. If I go into wifi menu, the wifi toggle is off and will not turn back on without a reboot. The toggle slides to on for a moment and then goes back to off. Exactly what you see in this video. Any ideas? Know bug? Do I need to wait for the next global version OTA?

Sorry, can't help but have observed exactly this behaviour on my Mix 2 as well. Turning off sleep mode (Settings >> Battery >> Scenes >> Sleep mode) may help.
Any progress here? Same problem.
I had this problem and fixed it by going into wifi settings and setting keep WiFi on during sleep to ALWAYS. Doesn't seem to affect battery life much if at all.
happens to me too now on stable 10.0.4 anyone any input?
I noticed before it started it asked me enable some smart feature to scan for kown wi-fi and turn itself on if it finds (was a prompt) anyone known where that setting is?

Delayed notifications until I check my phone

Hello,
I recently purchased the pixel 3, I've had it for less than a month. I couldn't resist the $300 off, and my OnePlus 3T was starting to show signs of it's age
One reason I switched was hoping notifications would be more reliable and on time, since I've read OnePlus severely restricts background services, and I would always get delayed notifications, even when I was using the phone!
But now with the pixel 3, if I'm away from my phone for a while, I won't get nearly any notifications, then when I go to check my phone just to see if I missed something, when I turn the screen on, immediately the notifications come in, and in one app for work, when I open the notification it tells me that the job is already gone. That's one way I know the notification was actually sent out waaaaay earlier
I've seen this before on the OnePlus, and I've read about it a lot, I think it has something to do with doze mode. On the OnePlus it was really easy to turn off doze mode(though OnePlus is so bad at this that I wonder if turning it off did anything), but that was Android Oreo and oxygen os. I can't even find a switch for doze mode in Android pie. It's not in developer settings, the closest thing I could find was adaptive battery, which is off. And I already set those important apps to have battery optimization disabled. Yet this keeps happening, as if doze mode is running on everything.
How do I turn off doze mode?? Or what can I do to get my notifications on time?? The work app I use heavily relies on that Google/firebase cloud messaging thing, and if I don't get notifications for new jobs on time, I pretty much miss out on a whole bunch of work.
Got any ideas?? Please help
Have you tried disabling Battery Optimisation for the apps which notifications are delayed?
For Android Pie it's in Settings > Apps & Notifications > Advanced > Special app access > Battery Optimisation, then change the filter to All apps and disable optimisation for each app you want to.
Turning off battery optimization doesn't do a thing. Notifications are always delayed for an app like Gmail, even after battery optimization are turned off.

I have seen that happen especially when installing from a TB restore. Go into the app and disable notifications, and then re-enable them. If that doesn't work, delete and add the app back from the Play Store. That has worked for me in the past.

I never had to turn off battery optimization to have instant notifications for Gmail maybe check @sliding_billy 's tips

I will try that, even though I believe I've tried that before. I Started to use Outlook instead that gives me instant notifications.

Yeah, the new Outlook app is damn good. I don't use it for other accounts, but I use it for my outlook.com account that I have had literally since Microsoft launched Hotmail. Now that the Activesync works on the deleted folder (which it didn't for a long time), I rarely use my Gmail account for anything not coming from Google.

Yeah it seems battery optimization toggles are useless

I've tried this before but it doesn't help. Something within Android is messing up the notifications really badly. It's like it's putting Android into a really deep sleep, and maybe the notifications are being received, but the system is not waking up the phone to tell you,
so they just linger around until you check your phone, only when you check the phone does the system all of sudden tell you that notifications had been received. It's so annoying!
Does this method still work on Android 10?

Any chance you have flip to shh on? Do not disturb when face down?
Do notifications come in with screen on?
I'm on my second pixel 3 (first one warrantied after it stopped charging randomly) and neither gave me trouble with notifications.
My dad disabled notifications rather than just dismissing them when I got him his first smart phone last year, but it sounds like you're a lot more savvy than that.
Someone mentioned a titanium backup, which I was happy to do on my op3, but part of the appeal to me of the pixel was a totally clean and Google-managed backup process. Are you on a stock install?
Any chance you are using a MVNO? I went years on a MVNO with no push/sync issues. Over the last year I developed notification issues. I switched multiple phones & carriers, the only way I could fix delayed notifications was to switch to a real carrier, that or use WiFi.
Turn off developer mode. It worked for me.

Phone keeps silent mode after 'Do Not Disturb' is turned off

Hi there,
the last coupe of weeks I have the following problem.
At night I have a scheduled 'Do Not Disturb' from 00 am to 6 am. When DND is to disabled at 6 am it stays in Silent Mode , the speaker icon is greyed out and has a diagonal line over it.
I completely disabled DND and re-enabled it, the first night everything went well but this morning, once again, the phone stays muted after DND is turned off automatically.
Anybody else with such a problem and/or a solution?
I know I can try safe mode and some other things but first of all I want o reach out for other user having or knowing this problem.
Well, DND is not the problem. The phone keeps going to a mute state randomly.
I can start removing apps (I removed the ones that can do something on the volume and the mute state but no help).
Are there no apps that can monitor the phone's behavior so I can find out on that way which app is causing the troubles.
Or is there another way to find the culprit without resetting the phone or uninstall apps one-by-one?
Confirmed: after DND the phone keeps in mute state randomly. G965FXXU8DTC5 firmware.
I use my phone with medium power save mode. I will try to use with optimized power save mode.
I manage DND with Bixby Routines. I will try to magage DND with Samsung Routines.

Question DnD turns off in all modes

Hi,
I received my Asus rog phone 5 just over a week ago, but I am having issues with DnD. I have 2 schedules. 1 is from 20.30 to 5.40 for work and another is 21.00 to 9.00 for the weekend. Both were originally transferred over from my Samsung note 9. The problem is that DnD will start at the chosen times, but for some reason that I can't work out, it will just turn off. When I go back into DnD settings the schedule are there but DnD will not turn on. DnD will sometimes put the sound mode back to normal and recently it is going into vibrate. There is no warning, the icon for DnD will just turn off and no other problem will jump up from the phone. It just turns off. I do run sleep cycle but having that on or off doesn't have any effect on what DnD does.
I thought there might be issues with the transfer from my Samsung so I deleted all schedules and set them up again. Same issue. There is no exact time that I can tell when DnD turns off, but my Fitbit normally warns me around 21.00 that it is time to wind down. But Fitbit isn't the problem as I have seen DnD off before 21.00. I'm normally in bed before 21.00 so it's very annoying to be woken up my notifications when I'm almost sleep.
I've even tried digital wellness sleep schedule and the same thing happens. It turns the whole bedtime mode to off.
Last night I setup DnD to turn off only when I select it and turned off all schedules, but this morning when I woke DnD was off.
My phone has all the latest updates.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
