Us mate 9 oreo update kills app - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

I updated through the phone to oreo. Whenever my screen goes to sleep, my power amp pauses and I am not getting any of my emails, messages etc.. I've checked the settings and applied the do not kill option but it does not resolve my issue. I have tried a factory reset as well.

Mine is intermittent, but, I know sometimes flushing the system cache, along with setting the app setting to never sleep helps.
Also, I have all power saver settings disabled. (with a battery like the Mate, why bother with power savers).
Sometimes, mine still does not send notifications until after I turn the screen on. Mine did it as well with Nougat.

I have tried setting my apps to never sleep but that did nothing for me. Power saver is also disabled.

TF700 very sluggish after waking up

Disclaimer: I searched the forums but couldn't find anything relevant.
Am I the only one whose tf700 acts really sluggish after it wakes up for a minute or two?
Is there any solution to this? It kills my main use case of the tablet (pick it up when I want to look at something in a pinch, and put it away when I'm done).
I'm on official ROM, rooter but not unlocked. This has been happening with the previous firmware versions as well.
I had the same problem for a while... most of the time I woke the tablet from sleep it'd be very sluggish.
I noticed that this happens when the wifi disconnected during sleep... it would have to reconnect and therefore all the services that required wifi would all start at the same time, throttling the system.
Turns out its the special setting in ASUS Customized Settings, "Disconnects network during sleep" that was causing this. It does exactly what it says, suspends network-related tasks when the screen goes off and resumes on screen on.
I initially turned this on because i was worried network tasks would drain my battery on sleep, but there doesn't really seem to be much of a performance difference with it on or off. So I'm leaving it off for now.

Hmm, I disabled that with the same battery concerns, but I'll give it a shot, thanks!

Also try a clean boot.
Hold down the volume down and power button when you power it on from cold. Let it go through the next screen without touching and it will clear cache automatically.
This does help as well anyway.
It's probably still quicker than most of us after we wake up..... Have you tried coffee?
Try turning off all bloatware. Mine used to be incredibly sluggish when waking up, and when I checked it turned on about 25-ish apps everytime i woke it up. Rubbish like Google Now, Talk, Gallery, etc. This slows the poor thing down to an insane level. Turned off all the random crap I would never use anyway, did a coldboot (sbdags describes the process up one post ^) and now it's instantly awake.

Background Data Restricted - Automatically?

I did a factory reset today, my phone was chewing through the battery so I thought I would try this to see if it would help. Have not reset since the JB update.
Ive noticed that when I turn the screen on the little white "Background Data Restricted" icon is at the top, and goes away within a few seconds.
"Restrict Background Data" is unchecked in Data Usage, and "Auto-sync Data" is checked. I have disabled all Smart Actions.to see if they were causing it, even though I only have two setup, one for Nighttime Battery Saver (turns everything off at night), and one for Workout (when a bluetooth headset is paired.)
This happens when I let the phone sit for ~10 minutes, so I assume it is going to sleep.
I have not seen this happening before I did the factory reset.
Im on JB 9.1.41.XT926.

Did you ever resolve this? I just started having the same issue and cannot figure out what is causing it.

[q] Lockscreen doesn't timeout?

I'm running CM11s 33R with franco kernel r14 and Google Now Launcher. When I manually turn on my screen with the power button or double tap, to check the time for example, the screen will not go back to sleep. However if it turns on automatically because I received a text or snapchat, it will sleep if I leave it alone. Anyone else getting this issue/ have any fixes? I have screen sleep set in display settings to be after 30 seconds of inactivity so i'm wondering what the issue is. Thanks in advance.
Edit: It actually seems like my screen timeout isn't working at all, past the lock-screen, even while i'm in the actual device or an app.
Are you plugged in? In developer options, there's an option for the screen to never sleep while plugged in. If not, the answer to everything: reboot the phone!
Nope not plugged in, and i reboot multiple times on a daily basis and that hasn't fixed it.
For me, when I double tap or press the power button and leave it there, the screen will go back to sleep after 30 seconds. My old phone would turn off the screen after 5 seconds on the lockscreen. There doesn't seem to be a setting for this and it's just automatically set at 30 seconds.
i also got this problem
I got this problem also
i'm running same Stats like: CM11S 33R, test with Franco Kernel R14, Trebuchet Launcher.
If i doesnt turn my screen off by power button the screen will be stay activ anyway no-matter which settings i set on Options

i also have this problem... annoying... any update?
I am also having this problem.
In my case, the screen will stay on indefinitely. I have timeout set to 30sec.
I have "Llama" app running, and configured to disable my lockscreen based on location. This could be generating some problems... But I don't think so.
Any new thoughts or fixes?

Not getting notification until I wake from deep sleep/ doze ?

I just got this phone.
So every morning I wake up my phone and then a sudden spam of notification comes up. (Whatsapp).
Although the message was sent at like 8 am. I only get the notification when I wake up the phone.
I tired putting the app not to be "Optimize battery usage" and is still occurs.
I believe this is cause by the deep sleep/ doze feature?
I came from LG G3. It had MM with the same feature. But It doesnt have this bug at all.
Any idea?

My experience with doze on the note 5 mm is even if you have WiFi power save off doze still kills it. It seems to be a bug with doze. My screen is off then when I turn it on all my emails come thru (I'm using bluemail). I have seen others commenting on the exact same thing.

I did a few factory reset but the problem still occurs.
I simply did a wipe cache partition. (Just google note 5 wipe cache if you don't know how to do it)
And it seem to have fix the problem.
I also play around with the other settings but they don't seem to be the culprit.

Not getting any notification until I open the app

Since today I'm on Open Beta 5, and I have the isse that apps like Snapchat/Instagram and Gmail aren't sending any notifications until I open the app and manually refresh them.
WhatsApp is working as it should.
I already checked the notification settings in these apps, but everything is set up as it should. I also tried "not optimizing" the apps in the battery settings, no help.
Any other idea?
Pin them in recents and it may help. Also make sure you have turned off sleep stanby optimisation under battery optimisation
