Question Do not disturb (DND) problem - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Hi All,
I'm using scheduled DND. Every time it turns on it resets my excluded contacts and I have to add contacts again.
Is this a normal behavior? If not any ideas how to fix it?

Have you enabled the 'Do not disturb' mode with an 'Exceptions' setting?
In 'Exceptions' section, you can allow calls and messages from any contact, favorite contacts, or anyone to bypass DND.

Of course I did, otherwise it will not work.

I am also having issues since the last OneUI update..
My DND schedule seems to be confused as to which day of the week it is. I have the schedules set for M-F 10pm to 7am and S,S for 11pm to 10am but when Monday comes around, it's showing the weekend schedule is still active.
I ahve verified correct date, time and location settings... Cleared system cache, deleted and recreated the DND schedules but still have the issue where DND is using the incorrect day.

Yes, I can confirm this bug.
I have always used the 'Favourite contacts' as exception, and that works fine.
After reading your post, I tried to add some contacts manually to the exception list, and I see that the list has gotten reset. This is a bug, and I'm not sure with which OneUI version this problem started.

Still having the DnD issue where the schedule thinks its still the weekend

I dont use DND option on my S22 Ultra cause never found the need for it! Although, I did find this resolution through Bard, since you arent able to fix this I thought to ask Bard. I hope this helps!
Bards Reply:
No, it is not normal for scheduled DND to reset your excluded contacts. This is a bug that has been reported by other users. There are a few things you can try to fix it:
Restart your phone. This may clear up any temporary glitches that are causing the problem.
Update your phone's software. If you're not using the latest version of your phone's software, there may be a bug fix that will resolve this issue.
Reset your phone's settings. This will erase all of your settings, including your excluded contacts, so you'll need to re-add them. However, this may also fix the bug.
If you've tried all of these things and the problem is still occurring, you can contact your phone's manufacturer or carrier for support.
In the meantime, you can still exempt certain contacts from DND by adding them to your favorites list. This is a workaround, but it's better than having to add your excluded contacts every time DND turns on.
Here are the steps on how to add your contacts to your favorites list:
Open the Contacts app on your phone.
Tap the Star icon next to the contacts you want to exempt from DND.
When you turn on DND, your favorites list will be exempt from the Do Not Disturb restrictions.

[APPS] PowerTutor - Contacts and Messaging Destroying Battery?

I've been using a power usage app designed for the N1 called "PowerTutor" for the past week or so (app link, homepage link).
Ever since I've started using it, I've noticed that two apps are constantly using tons and tons of battery, despite me never using them: Contacts and Messaging. Notice in the screenshots below they have been running 100% of the time since my last reboot and using the most battery, more than any of the apps that I actually use:
Left: Current Power Usage (As of this second).
Right: Total Power Usage (Since reboot).

These apps never go away. Now, I understand how Android task management works, so the fact that they are running isn't the problem; but the fact that they are using battery constantly seems to be a huge issue, since A) I never use them and yet B) together they have by far the highest power consumption apps on my phone. What the heck??
What is going on here? Does anyone else use PowerTutor?
Interesting find...
Seems like no one dares to comment on this...now I´m curious.
The app must be messaging your contacts in the background...
Or maybe this app drafts a message to one of your contact, then discards it and then drafts the same message to another contact and again discards it and so on....
The tutor in the name suggests that it wants to teach you a lesson... Don't install random apps on your phone and them give it permission to use whatever resources that it wants...
If you using CM ROM so maybe you lock messaging in the memory (CM setting > performance )
I messaged the developer and he responded with this:
It may be related to a bug (it's more of a limitation of the Android API) in PowerTutor. In reality Android gives no way to know what application is currently in the foreground so we have to estimate it using some information they do give us on the priority of each application. Unfortunately the phones I have work with don't have this problem so it's difficult for me to debug. The problem is related to the Messaging and Contacts applications having foreground priority despite not actually being in the foreground.
Try simply filtering out OLED (click on the OLED panel in the application view) to get more meaningful numbers for now.

Interesting...
My question then is, if we were to filter out OLED, wouldn't that mean we'd be missing out on some data (data that is actually valid)?
Though I'm not sure I understand what it means to have an app listed in multiple categories? And what that will do when one category is filtered out.

Hah, thanks for the bump. I am subscribed to this thread but actually uninstalled PowerTutor long ago. It seemed too inaccurate.

Really strange repeating text...from 1969! HELP!

The other day I went to unlock my phone and it wouldn't respond at all, no backlight at all. I tried holding down lock button to reboot but still nothing, so I pulled the battery. After it rebooted, I had a text notification (i use handcent). This is what the notification bar read:

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Uploaded with ImageShack.us[/IMG]
Going into the handcent convo list, I see this message from "Anonymous", notice the date of receipt:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us[/IMG]
When I click the convo I'm taken to an empty message, no text at all. Also, I cannot delete the thread, nor can I blacklist it, choosing either of the options does nothing. I've tried erasing it in stock messaging too-nothing! The most annoying part of the whole thing is that all day long I keep getting text notifications for this same message! What the hell is going on?!
I think those are messages from T-Mobile...in your specific case, it seems to be messages regarding your visual voicemail. I have no clue beyond that, but I would just delete them...I get them regularly from T-Mobile, for various reasons...and they always from some random numbered sender, like 4444, or 5117, etc.
And check and see if you have a setting in handcent that automatically adds a contact for any messages from senders not already in your contact list.
Oh, and your screen blacking out and not being able to turn back on is a different issue alltogether. I don't know what rom or kernal you're using, but on MY particular phone, which does not handle overclocking or undervolting well, if I undervolt the low frequencies, I get that problem. Also, some kernals have the low-end frequency set at 216. On my phone, I've found that if I keep it at 216, I get those problems...so I bump it up to 312 or higher, depending on the rom. And then adjust my screen-off profiles in setcpu accordingly. Of course, it could just be a bad flash in your case, as well. Just things to look into and test.
Hope this helps.
P.S. : I'm an idiot, because I didn't even realize the issue with the text being dated 1969, lol...sorry for my irrelevant rantings.
Linux time starts on the day after 12/31/1969.
Maybe you can run a SMS backup, wipe all SMS messages, check the backup for this phantom thread and delete it. Then run a restore.
I've been getting these since yesterday too. Some have my contacts names on them. They won't delete also. I'm using handcent.
Odd. I got this 2 days ago along with a few other blank messages from "211" and friends from 1969 time stamp. They never went away. What I had to do was go into Titanium, backup and wipe the SMS/MMS/APN Dial Storage data. When looking into the MMSSMS.db file that was backed up, it was a gaggle **** in there. A LOT of old text messages I thought were deleted, but weren't. I can only assume it's an error with the mmssms data base.
Since the wipe, there has been no anonymous 1969 texts that re-accrue.
Had same problem and did a battery pull with phone on then reinstalled battery and powered on. Then I could delete but had to delete all threads. So far no more problems.

EMUI 8.0.0, Android 8.0.0, Google Messages (with channel Notification) - Help?

Not sure really where to go with this, except I'm hoping with someone with a bit more experience on these builds will know what's going on, explain why what I want won't work, or what I can do to fix. Or at least if it's an EMUI thing, an Oreo thing, or a Messages thing to know what to look into changing.
I'm running the builds downloaded from the https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6x/development/update-bln-l22c675-emui-5-x-x-to-emui-8-t3819317 build. I also installed Messages v3.8.037 (basilisk_RC15).
It seems the Messages app starting at 3.7.052 at least, Messages started using channel notifications on Oreo. Whenever I go into the app and try to change the notification options, it seems to redirect me to the phone Notification settings directly to the "Messages - Other Notifications" section. Under that, there's only an option to turn ringtone on or off, not to set the sound for it. I can set a ringtone for each contact in the contacts app, but that seems to change the call and messages ringtone, and I really just want a way to distinguish a notification that I got ANY text from getting ANY email, ANY motion detection on my security cam, etc.
Bear with me on my journey here, I don't know how to resize these without making them all JPG'y and unreadable...
I tap on the vertical ellipses in the Messages app and tap on settings, and this screen pops up.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I then tap on the Notification option, and it brings up the screen I was talking about above, where I can't set the ringtone, only turn it on or off.
The same experience happens if I start from Settings, which appears to be all EMUI'd out.
Without EMUI, I think you'd get App Info, according to all posts I've seen. In EMUI 8.0.0, I tap on Apps.
I then had to tap Messages, then Notifications (not pictured) and it takes me to this. Nowhere between are options to change the sounds either. Tapping on any of these takes me to the exact same thing as image 2, but it shows the subheading of whatever I tap on here (example -- image 2 is what I get tapping on "Other notifications"). Notice there's a separate setting here specifically for my wife for some reason.
Here's my build infos:
Thanks for any info you can give me, even if it's just education. I know it seems piddly, but I'm thinking this will apply to anything with channel notifications. For instance, I just noticed my security cam app appears to use channel notifications and I can't change it for that either.
So what you wanna do is to set individual sounds for some contacts? Well, as far as I know the option isn't available in EMUI 8. Or at least I don't know how to.

It's not that, I can do that in contacts. It's that I want ANY text to come through to be sound A, whereas email alerts are sound B, security camera app alerts are sound C. You can see above that I can't set the sound for Messages app.
Pretty sure that's not possible. Try Googling it.

Ya, I had it in Nougat and got spoiled with it. I set my texts to be "Hey, Listen" from Navi in Legend of Zelda, and I set my emails to be a rupee sound, and security system to be the "opening big chest" sound. now they're all the standard system notification sound
I can switch to Textra like all of the Googles suggests, but I like having the Google app and the "Messages for Web" functionality. Guess I'll have to live with this or go back to Nougat. But this has been a whole different phone since I've gotten Oreo/EMUI8. WAY less lag/lockups. So I'll deal.

Do Not Disturb turns on by itself when driving/ moving

Im having a weird bug, the Do no disturb keeps turning on when moving at speed in a car. Im not connected to the car either.
I installed an app recently, and I think it had an option of DND automatically turning on if it thinks im driving, but not 100% sure if the app caused it.
I don't know what app it was or it may just be a system malfunction.
I tried to go into the settings but can only toggle it on/off or schedule a time specific option. I think stock google has profiles for it to turn on when you are driving, but Miui does not seem to have any advanced features built in.
Any way to solve this without a factory reset, there's also no option in MIUI for resetting all settings without factory reset. Or maybe an app that may help?

I thought that as well, but in android auto settings, there is no DND relations settings accessible. Also I do not have it connected to any car. My phone bluetooth is always off so its not connecting to my car directly either.
It's not a bug. It's a feature built in to Google.
The settings for which to enable/disable are found in...
Settings : Google : Personal Safety : Silence Notifications While Driving : Yes/No
Google needs to fix the way they hide settings for common stuff in weird places.

Question Calendar Notification inconsistency

Hello,
I searched for this calendar thing before but I did not find anything similar to this so a new post, so my question is, I have my Google calendar filled with some daily activities and on the time mentioned in that event, I get a notification and it shows on the watch, so these events are created by using recurrence, so the one that comes on the next day is exactly the same, but one day on my watch instead of just a normal notification, I saw a screen similar to when we turn off the alarm but for the event, but just once and never saw it again even though the events are exactly same for all the days, am I missing something? is there a way where I can see that screen every time the event is notified? I think that is a better reminder that just a simple vibration/sound which is same for every other notifications.
Not sure if I follow what you are saying, but my notifications come up with snooze or close (I think) if I have a reminder set.

yes! this is what I want, but I get a simple text notification which is just a normal informative/non-interactive notification, so I got the snooze/close screen once, and I had set an event(like every other activity), I'll check if setting a reminder does the thing.
Update: So I set a reminder and this is how I get a notification, and this is how I get for any event too, but I want that stop/snooze screen instead of a simple notification

No, I don't
I would start there and check notification settings on the phone. Not really sure what you may have done, but that is where I would start. Check calendar first. Setup a event and see if you can get it to show. I am not sure, but the Samsung calendar app does not show this as a pop-up. Only as a notification.

Ok, let me check if I can get that screen on the phone first, I'll update you with the results.
tldr; Reminder screen for calendar event only shows up if the watch is not connected to the phone, looking for ways to get that screen to show up when connected to the phone.
I think I found the issue, I was charging my watch and I usually put it on airplane mode while charging so it disconnects from the phone and during the time I was charging it there was one daily event that I had set up on Google Calendar which was due, so when the watch was disconnected, it showed me that stop and snooze screen for that particular event, so I don't know if this counts as a solution that whenever I'll want to see the reminder screen(stop and snooze), I'll have to disconnect my watch and only then it'll show me that screen. I feel that this should be present even if the watch is connected to the phone, after trying to play with some settings I found out that, reminder screen only appears when it is disconnected from the phone
things I tried(Did not work):
- Turned off the notifications from the GC app
- Turned off notifications from the wearable app for GC
both of these settings did not work, will be trying more
edit1
things I tried (did not work):
- Disabling the GC app
- Downgrading the GC app to the native version which came pre-installed with the stock rom of phone.
The reminder screen that is displayed is from Samsung calendar app and when the watch is connected to the phone, I guess it expects the phone to trigger the reminder screen but as I have a non Samsung phone I only have GC which only shows the generic notification as a reminder.
