I received a SM-A515F (under the backcover near the USB-C connector) where I know nothing about the history. When connecting a USB-C nothing happens, tried different cables and Loading trafos etc.
The screen has some smaller cracks, but not massive. The backcover is removable - probably forced open on the glued areas.
When pressing the power button nothing happens.
So I wonder can I do something else or is the phone just dead?

OK so I cracked the digitizer screen on my MyTouch 4G, ordered a new one and replaced it but during the process I was not as careful as I should have been and I tore the ribbon cable holding the power button on.
There is help for people with "broken power buttons" but no help for people who have torn the cable off. Until now.
I searched high and low for a button re-map or way to turn the phone on, tried ADB and holding the HOME button down but nothing worked.
Not wanting to replace the whole North Motherboard flex assembly just for the sake of one little button here is what I did to turn my phone on.
Remove the battery cover and 3 screws holding the first plastic cover on, pop it off and place it aside.
Remove the top two silver screws so you can fish out the power button flex cable from under the board, hopefully like me it has broken off at the power button where it is weakest and left a few millimeters of cable. With the power button flex cable exposed, insert the battery, sim card and micro-sd card if these are not already in place. You need the battery in place for this to work.
Take a razor blade, scalpel, or something nice and sharp and begin gently shaving the power button flex cable as near the the broken tip as you can get, scrape away the plastic coating on the surface of the ribbon cable closest to you, assuming the phone is face down this is the side of the cable that faces upwards or toward that battery cover. Scrape gently until you see the gold circuit tracks inside the ribbon cable. My phone turned on while I was doing this but since the battery was flat it turned off again right away. I then re-assembled the phone, leaving the very tip of the power button flex cable protruding through the outer case so the little gold tracks were visible. Plugged it onto the charger and touched a piece of foil across the exposed ends. Phone turns on fine and if it turns off again at some point I don't need to take it apart again as I have left the tip of the ribbon cable exposed externally. So long as you have something conductive handy you can turn your phone on by simply bridging the exposed contacts on the flex cable.
I guess I will order the mother board flex cable and replace the whole assembly at some point but in the meantime my phone is on and works perfectly.
I know I am not the first person to tear off the cable from the power button, tiny as it is, I found lots of posts on various forums on Google and I am sure I won't be the last person to mess up like this either...
Hopefully this will help someone else who finds themselves with the same problem.
Does anyone else have this kind of trouble? Wireless charging just stopped working. I've tried with two chargers and no effect. Chargers can't be broken because they both charge my older Nexus 4 just fine. USB charging works just fine but I've kind of used to wireless and it drives me crazy since it doesn't work. I haven't dropped the phone or anything, I even replaced the back cover with new genuine OEM back cover since I thought that maybe the coils in back have been damaged or something.
Could it be software issue or what?
I had this same thing happen, although with mine, it was after a (about 2 foot) fall. It could be software, but doubtful, since you can verify that by simply turning your phone off (not in standby, but completely off), and seeing if the battery indicator comes up when you start charging. Regardless, Google will ask you to do a hard reset before they'll replace it to ensure that it's not software-related.
As I said, mine was replaced under warranty for this very issue, so Google does count this as a replaceable issue (provided you bought it from the Play Store). However, there is one thing to try first:
Draw an imaginary line across the bottom of the letters in "nexus" printed on the back cover, and follow that line until you're even with the flash. Right there, there's a clip that most people miss when replacing the cover. That clip MUST be securely fastened, or wireless charging won't work (the purpose of the clip is to keep the wireless charging pins engaged). Press down at that spot to make sure that the clip is engaged.
Barring that, I'd contact Google for replacement (or your carrier, if you bought it from there).
After several re-openings, it apparently finally worked. Those four little pins were somehow bit too low so that connection did last only few seconds. I pulled them up little bit with tweezers, push that copper thing on top of the battery all the way to bottom and firmly put the back cover on its place and now it's working again. I was so close sending this thing back to Google...
Somehow it still feels that it doesn't quite charge it with full power. It apparenly takes much more time than using AC charger. This wasn't the case when this problem didn't occure because it charged wirelessly very quickly.
My phone fell from the 2nd floor, the lcd screen was really damage, pieces of the glass were falling when I picked the phone up.
It was still ON when I picked it up, but when I pressed the power button, it turned off and I couldn't turn it ON again, does not recognise the charger, doesn't make a sound when I plug it to either the computer or wall plug.
When I got to open the phone, I remove all the glass in the front (no damage on the back and sides). I was thinking of trying to recover the contents so I can easily transfer to another phone if the phone is good as dead. So before I would buy a screen replacement, I wanted to recover the data in the phone, so I tried connecting the phone to the wall plug, if I remove the battery it give me a steady red led light, but if I attached the battery, it gives me a blinking red led light. the same goes with plugging this to a Mac and PC.
So would like to ask is the main board also dead? or is there still hope for my phone?
thanks!
When I shattered my LG G2's screen (LCD was intact) it gave me warning that that the Display was damaged and that it was switching controls to hardware buttons.
In your case the signs are that it's badly damaged as in more than just the LCD. Because it's not even being detected by your computer or even charging.
The above is just my opinion so don't quote me on that but I am fairly certain you may have damaged the motherboard. I have dealt with other people's screen damaged phones and they still worked or were detected by their computer.
Lg Urbane 2 LTE stopped working and was not able to charge. Tried cleaning the charger pins and watch cover contact terminals and it made no difference.
1 year later decided to open it out and found the problem. The Charger internal pin on motherboard was loose and out of place. It connects the outside case connection terminal to internal circuit board. These pins are extremely small and you will need a set of tweezers to hold them. If you have a magnifying glass it will help with this repair. On my watch after i removed the straps i could open the back cover and didnt immediately notice the pin was missing. Its so tiny you dont really notice them. I removed the 4 screws and circuit board connections and after removing the motherboard to check the battery, didn’t see any obvious issues so i re-assembled. Thats when i noticed that 1 pin was missing on the motherboard. On closer inspection i found that on the inside of the back cover are 3 small magnets and the missing pin was stuck to the magnet. Barely visible. You need to use tweezers to hold it and reset the pin back into its holder-kinda slides back into place. Very hard to see but the pins slide into a tiny holder. Put the back cover on and then placed the watch on the charger and it works. 1 full year has passed since it was last charged and it works now. Again check the inside pins are all there ,on the inside under the back cover. The pins are on the motherboard mounted. Hope this helps all those out there with a dead LG urbane 2....good luck
Anyone have any ideas as to what could have caused the blackscreen?
I replaced the battery, reconnected everything and never got a screen again. Cant se any obvious damage to the screen or any connectors.
when pressing the power button for longer i will get a quick screenflash but no visible picture. its also very brief (under a second)
any ideas would help me getting this solved.... i am assuming i did something wrong, i just have no clues as to where
Does it charge?
Allow to charge for 2 hours if you haven't already.
Does it work with the charger connected?
Could it be a defective battery?
Review your work. Is everything exactly reassembled the way it was including different screw lengths?
Are the ground pathways preserved?
Inspect all connector pins carefully for damage.
Did you damage a ribbon cable going to the display?
Try disconnecting, then reconnecting the battery.
ESD damage is always a possibility especially when handling components out of circuit. The mobo and display have little input protection on some of their i/o's.
At least bring room humidity to >50% before working on sensitive assemblies!
