Stock Wear OS - Wear OS General

I think Stock Wear OS is much better than Samsungs and I think it may be possible to do through adb and fastboot if someone extracted Stock WearOS from a pixel watch.

[Q] Bare device install

Is it possible to do a bare device install of the android OS? Something similar to doing bare hard drive install of an OS to a computer?
Thanks.

What are you trying to do? flash Android on a blank emmc?
arm devices don't have BIOS or UEFI. Most of the bootloaders on production runs of phones are very locked down. Samsung phones need either download mode or a recovery to flash a os. If you don't have either you would need to use the JTAG to flash everything on the emmc but that's a lot of work and there's not really any publicly accessible tools for the full processes.

I think he wants a stripped down os, no extra apps/bloatware and just enough to boot the phone, idk, a few users asked if I could make a real lite version just for playing music but never got around to it
:good:
I was just curious about it. I was thinking maybe there was something out there for android phones like Linux From Scratch.
I've already tried vincom's SuperLite and other ROMs, though. :good:
Thanks guys.

Lenovo s5 (k520) ZUI 3.7.177 ST Got root anyone?

Just got a new Lenovo s5 (k520 running ZUI 3.7.177 ST) but can't root it (tried KingRoot and Root Genius so far).
It has a nasty little OS (ZUI 3.7) which keeps killing apps it doesn't like. It took me two days to find an adblocker which would work (AdClear) after trying Dns66, Blokada and a couple of others which I can't recall. It's tightly locked down.
* Anyway, my question is... Has anyone had any luck with rooting this phone or OS?
* Or, has anyone any suggestions for apps or rooting options which might be more successful?
If there's any other people out there with this phone, I would seriously consider chipping in to buy one for a dev to work with... give me a yell if you're interested.
Cheers,
Specs:
OS ZUI 3.7 (based on Android O)
CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 2.0GHz Octa core
ROM 64GB
RAM 4GB
Edit: Hmmm, I was hoping that the latest Magisk beta (16.6) might help, but no luck. It does seem to get further along but fails with an 'unable to find boot image' message (my apologies for not being able to quote that accurately). Nothing seems able to find that .img. Can't back it up either as no app can find it. Yes, I need to brush up my adb skills ...my last effort ended in an error reporting lack of appropriate key, as I recall (sorry, have a bit of a flu just now). Anyway, has anyone else been able to look at this phone? Anyone have any ideas (or just thoughts) about what I can do here?
Thanks.
Just to update.... I have tried every simple rooting option I can find -with no luck.
I have found one reference to installing twrp & rooting this phone, but I'm unsure how legit it is ...it just looks a little like its put together by a script; but maybe they just copy/paste a lot when writing tutes? (I have written to them but have had no response from them in a week). The tutorial makes reference to a dev/group in China successfully installing twrp, but only on a Chinese release, not international.
Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone knows of the group or people referenced at
http://tutoraplikasi.com/cara-root-lenovo-s5/
or if anyone might have an idea of the dev(s) in China working on twrp & lenovo?
Just a shot in the dark, really, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Cheers.
OK, looks like time for some more serious reading and brushing up of old, much neglected skilz... I will probably close this thread and open another ( if there's no objections) in the xda twrp forum.
If anyone is interested, I'm looking to compile twrp for this device with a view to flashing magisk. Hopefully, it will work. Seems that adb & unlocking the bootloader is the only way I'm going to get to actually see the partitions holding the IMG files etc. (Though I do have one or two ideas about escalating privileges/permissions, but that's a whole other bunch of research -and time which is always short.)
Anyway, if you have an interest in rooting this phone have a look for a thread under twrp Q&A.
Cheers.
Seems like it was just a matter of waiting... XN Logos has come up with a solution, it appears --
https://www.stupdroid.com/2018/07/root-twrp-lenovo-k520.html?m=1
At least I managed some in depth reading in the meantime. I'll report back on success of the procedure.
Hi I have also a Lenovo s5. I hated zui 3.7 too and I succeded in installing Lineage OS 15.1 by phh using only fastboot mode... I tried rooting It but unsuccessfully. Now I want twrp and if it would be possible even root. Did you succeed with XN Logos?

Haven't actually tried yet. After all that looking for a root solution I now have been too busy. Will probably do it this Wednesday. I'll keep you posted. Did lineage work well? Any bugs or other issues? ZUI is a dog.
Yeah everything is okay... In the previous updates there was a problem with the audio in ear but now is solved. The only thing that is a little (but not dramatically) worse is battery life because in zui the fact that the os kills every app in background makes the battery last longer.
Hey guys, I know it is no the perfect thread for this yet this phone almost doesn't exist anywhere on the internet. I have the same issue with apps closing as you do. I wanted to install Lineage OS yet as there is no official release for lenovo S5. I would really appreciate some guidance on which release would I install and how. Would it be via the twrp? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm a lucky owner of this beautifull beast, the Lenovo S5 K520, but with the horfull ZUI3.7. I always have been using Cyanogen and after lineage OS.
It did not luck for me to install it on the Lenovo S5.
I manage to install TWRP-3.2.2-0713 with the help of the S-Droid toolkit for Lenovo S5.
From there, I did try every rom from phh on this page : https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/lineage-phh-treble-t3767690
but the best I did get is the first logo of lineage OS going on and never stop for hours. I also did try AOSP treble Rom from this site : https://forum.xda-developers.com/project-treble/trebleenabled-device-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659, but there I'm getting the Android text changing of ligth theme, but bothing more.
Could you please tell us the procedure and the version of the software you are using so that you are able to use Lineage OS on a Lenovo S5 K520?
Thanks a lot.

Hi i did in this way...
1)fastboot -w
2)fastboot erase modemst1
3)fastboot erase modemst2
4) fastboot erase system
5) fastboot erase boot
6) fastboot erase recovery
7) fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
8) fastboot flash boot boot.img
9) fastboot flash system {systemname}.img
The only thing you should do firstly is download the firmware from a video in YouTube whose name is like "ROM Lenovo s5" or something like that and extract the firmware in order to have both boot.img and recovery.img. Hope I could help
P.s. I used phh lineage latest build

Hi everybody!
I was wondering if any of you have a copy of the original ZUI 3.7 non-Chinese stock firmware. I had trouble with my phone and contacted the customer service. Unfortunately, they've sent me the Chinese version (K520_CN_OPEN_USER_Q00011.0_O_ZUI_3.7.355_ST_180412_qpst) and now my phone is almost unusable as the rom only contains crappy Chinese stuff... :crying:
All apps are Chinese and it contains no GApps... I cannot even restore previously save config.
Please help me and send me a backup or the original non-Chinese firmware.
Thank you very much
I didn't even know the existence of an original firmware for non Chinese phones indeed when I bought it it came with a horrible chinese firmware with few translations. Did you find it? Because I want to try it too. If you didn't find it I'm also going to look for it

reinstalled vivo xi plus from twrp backup-all networking is borked

title. I got a refurb vivo xi plus not long ago for a really decent price, went about installing twrp without much issue, made a backup, then the device hung on the blu splash screen on reboot. reinstalled from the backup and immediately knew there were issues when the new user process was constantly interrupted with "bluetooth sharing keeps stopping" errors. after fighting through those errors and getting past the startup process I find I can't enable wifi or bluetooth, and those bluetooth sharing errors not only continue but seem to become more frequent over time until I have to treat it like an idle clicker game to get them to clear.
edit: forgot to mention the battery is constantly showing as "-1%". no idea if that helps narrow the issue down but that's another oddity.
anybody have any idea what the cause of this is? any solution? looked around a good bit for the stock firmware but having tried two that were floating around from 2019/2020 respectively and getting that same splash screen softlock result I'm thinking the old firmware just isn't going to work. thanks in advance for any help and please let me know if you need any more information.

I see the XI on there but not the XI+ specifically. it wouldn't be a little bit of lost functionality or a different appearance on some menus if I flash the wrong one, it would straight up not work. I guess in the position I'm in it couldn't really do much harm to check that one out so thanks for the link. I'll be back after looking into it

that's promising. twrp is telling me this is an invalid zip format and I was never very good at this stuff. advice on actually installing this thing?
edit: trying adb sideload but it's not detecting the device. I really thought that would do it so this is disheartening. adb had no issues detecting this device earlier so I'm not sure what's up.

yeah, having no issues with adb when the device is up and running the borked install. doing this all on an old kubuntu install so I'll try to find a way to run spft on wine. I have it in my head it's windows only but maybe that's not the case now. both my windows 10 and 7 installs totally fail to see this device in fastboot, which I'm just assuming is how the flash tool works. going to look into all of that now, thanks again
edit: wow is the flashtool confusing. "okay so I just need a scatter file" but then it turns out that file is nowhere to be found so I have to work out how to make it myself.

scatter file is also included on stock firmware right click the .zip and extract it
I've tried the contents of the stock firmware folder thinking that would be the solution, but everything threw an immediate error and so did trying to use the included ota scatter file. I had the scatter file that came with a twrp rom that wound up not working and included a scatter for reasons I don't grasp, maybe because it was meant to be installed with this tool instead (they didn't explain that very well), and anyway even attempts using the recommended download agent and scatter file are sitting as in this image and doing nothing. Tried restarting the adb server, killing the adb server just in case that was getting in the way, disabling and re-enabling debug on the device, nothing is happening with this at all. it's really frustrating stuff.
been working at this various ways for about 14 straight hours so I'm going to get some sleep here, definitely not giving up on this and will be back tomorrow. thanks again for all of the help so far. wouldn't have a clue if you hadn't come along and now it's looking like a few technical speedbumps may be all that's in my way fixing this thing.

after sorting the scatter file issue I wound up with
ERROR : STATUS_EMI_SETTING_VERSION_ERROR (0xC0040050)
decided to just buy a new one and call this a learning experience. could have lost a lot more on this same lesson if it were a more expensive purchase. going to be sure the next phone I set my mind on rooting is something more common with a bigger scene around it so in the worst case there are more cases of the same problems I'd be having and less complicated solutions. searching the error above, for example, not a single result. doesn't seem like something anybody has ever run into and asked about. I'm just not technically minded or experienced enough to work past it.
thanks again for all of your help though.

I installed the drivers, I made sure I had the right auth file, best I can tell the xi+ I was working on was running on different hardware and needed (even if only slightly) different firmware than the device the firmware and scatter files provided were taken from.
even a slight difference is enough to bork tools that rely on the chipset (among other things, being just part of why this struck me as so complex) to function at all. I contacted the developer of spft and got nothing helpful in response, probably because he assumed I was trying to flash totally different firmware to a totally different phone or something and I'd imagine they spend a lot of time dealing with "help y can't i put this iphone firmware on my lg phone" stuff so don't even bother replying in that situation.
the big takeaway from all of this for me is to not go getting in over my head working on devices without huge userbases/a modding scene surrounding them. that's the difference between having a tool like odin to make this exact problem of mine trivial, and not being able to find a single copy of the correct firmware or the scatter/auth file that's needed short of learning how to make those things myself which is just above my skill level and I'm not afraid to admit as much.

What do I mean by READ.
See: I did not read in your messages any correct mention of the device model. Therefore, it was also not reported what exactly was the problem that caused all this.
Any electronic device today can have several problems and also several solutions. It all depends on the settings, the state of the device and the causes / actions of the problem.
As you mention ODIN, also needed to install certain ROMs, SPFT is for Mediatek. But which OS are you definitely using? Win? Linux? MaC?
Did you try to uninstall the Sansumg drivers? Install the MTK drivers again? Is it correct for the pc OS?
At first glance, let everyone know the correct model of the device, since there are about 3 models for Vivo Xi+.
In addition, I saw the images with the SPFT showing MT6765! This is for the Vivo Xi (not +) device!!
Comparison between: BLU Vivo XI+, BLU Vivo XI

Yes, you may know that Vivo Xi+ is MT6771. So I ask you if you are absolutely sure you have the correct ROM stock ?!
Do not get me wrong. Problems have to be detailed for good help information.

I not know if that's true or not.
But I never read about A9 (update firmware) to BLU Vivo Xi.
I read and confirm to BLU Vivo Xi+.
Unfortunately is not only BLU company so others brands OEMnot updating firmware version for some devices too.
But each person have what choose!

Looking for system ROM/root/custom ROMs for TCL Tab 8 (model 9048S)

Anything at all that someone might have for this device would be useful. I'm trying to see if I can get a Lineage install for it, or even just a backup ROM before attempting to debloat it a bit (I'm an Android newbie and like having a backup), but I can't seem to find much of anything on it on Google.
The device does have an unlockable bootloader, but I'm not sure how I would go about using this to any of the things in the topic.
E: For the record, I should probably explain why I'm so desperate for this--not only am I wanting to debloat this device, but ideally, I'd like to try flashing a generic system image to see if it can update to Android 12. Android 10 works fine on it, but I'd very much like some of the introduced accessibility features--however, I also want a backup of the original firmware, just in case something goes wrong.
I would also like for someone to answer this...please.

hloooooo :;/
I heard about this TreeUI. It works perfectly for me.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...eeui-0-9-5-beta-for-a8-a8-a7-m20-m30.4252235/
Download the file from there, and in TWRP, flash it as a system image. It should automatically redirect you to the setup. Keep in mind that the resolution and DPI will be incorrect. I fixed it using Easy DPI Changer.
There are some known bugs though. For example, Samsung Camera doesn't work (third party apps will work), and the face unlock. I'd recommend you read the page carefully. If you need anything else, let me know.
EDIT: Just noticed you want Android 12, not 11. My bad. You can try flashing Pixel Experience on your phone. Check this video. Look at the youtuber of this video too, I'm sure you'll find much more help there.

I tried flashing Android 12 GSI (Arrow and Corvus) but both GSI have lockscreen bug and I can't access my TWRP when flashed. I was wondering if you have any workarounds or fix for these issues. I also tried following the steps shown in the attached link to a YouTube video but there are no fix as well.
Just asked that yesterday, still waiting for reply. I really hope someone will finally make a custom rom designed for this device! GSI images have that bug, and some apps don't open. I'm so sick of staying on Samsung firmware.

Get Odin, and flash the stock firmware on your phone. However, this will erase all data on your device, so make a backup first. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

I tried doing this, reverting to the 2020 version to bypass the Knox Security and Encrypted Data sh*t but still, Android 12 has its bugs.

Just before installing android 12, you would want to go to TWRP > Advanced > Terminal and type this command:
Code:
mount /vendor;rm /vendor/lib64/hw/keystore*&&echo "persist.sys.binary_xml=false" >> /vendor/build.prop
Hope this helps

Sorry for being a little late, ForkLineage-19.1 GSI seems to be working fine on stock kernel, except MTP. Link : https://xiaomemeindex.com/treble/?dir=ForkLineage

Thanks, I'll try this later today. I kinda settled on stock rom since GSI has bad battery backup. Does this get rid of the lockscreen bug?
EDIT: it returns an error saying
Code:
rm: can't remove '/vendor/lib64/hw/keystore*': No such file or directory
any help?

Sorry for the late reply. The directory is already removed, so you should be good to go
