LG G5
Code:
- Your warranty is now void.
- You have been warned.
- Use at your own risk.
Introduction:
This is the Official Lineage OS 19.1 thread for the LG G5.
Downloads:
Please follow the install instructions in your device's Wiki page linked below exactly, and make sure your device's firmware matches the required firmware listed.
Official Builds:
h830
h850
rs988
Unofficial - built once a month by me, includes GApps and Pixel goodies:
h830
h850
rs988
If you don't follow these instructions, or use 3rd party add-ons (like Magisk) please don't expect support here.
Known Bugs:
IMS (VoLTE/Wi-Fi Calling) doesn't work due to framework tie-ins used by the LG proprietary binaries.
Find any? Report them according to this guide.
Notes:
The only supported GApps package at the moment is MindTheGapps, linked on our Wiki page about gapps.
This uses a port of Linux kernel version 4.4.

G5 has a well known gps defect that affects many devices apparently.
If you're willing to open it up, there are guides on how to fix it. There's a thread in here somewhere.

Hello and thank you @npjohnson!
Since there is a newer 4.4 kernel is there any incompatibility with twrp?

I didn't get why it wasn't working in the build I already uploaded but that was using RIL-CAF so I've switched to LG's stock RIL to see what happens. LG's one is more forgiving when it comes to OS updates as I've found out while working on CM 13,14 and 14.1 for the G5.
So fingers crossed

Any news?
Will have a new build out tomorrow the 5th fixing another issue (usb not working) as its a pretty major bug.
CM14 still doesn't have a theme engine, does it?
CM without CMTE is like a car without seats ... I'll stick to 13 until they finally add it
There is a theme engine as far as I know just not so many compatible themes
Aawesome work.

I don't think so - users on other phones are having to use Substratum which is basically Layers because they don't have a CMTE on CM14
I tried Layers before on my S4 and found it absolutely crap ... you never knew if you could apply the selected theme to the framework or not, I had quite a few bootloops because of it. So yea - no CMTE means no CM14 for me :crying:

ALL credit for this Rom goes to @x86cpu for his amazing work for LG msm8996 devices:good:
Also a huge thanks to @Arda Süzen for this orange fox recovery build for the ALL the g5 variants and his Audio Fix.
Once @x86cpu releases his Lineage 17.0 rom for the g5 I'll quit working on this thread and move to a new Rom like RR, AOKP, Cr Droid, etc
Note: this rom doesn't have gapps yet I'll add that later Use BitGapps, NikGapps, or OpenGapps 10 Beta
Installation
Wipe system, data, cache, Dalvik/ ART cache
flash rom
Flash this for audio fix (there is a second file in that folder that has the dual speaker mod included, it uses your earpiece as a second speaker) This is now included in the ROM
reboot
I have not tested upgrading from lineage 16 so try at your own risk
Upgrade is working

Thank you for builds. I waiting h850 builds. I think you should not add the gapps into rom becouse everyone use another gapps package (bitgapps, nikgapps or opengapps). And i love the see havoc os 3.0 rom for g5 because more optimized, more customazitons rom.
I'm eagerly waiting for the H850 version. This is my last OT post but I think people should know about this.
This is a post on Reddit about the 4000 mAh battery cell upgrades for the G5. My phone battery was on its last legs and I wanted to replace the phone, but I did this mod instead and I'm keeping it for longer. Thought you might want to know.

I'm glad some people are trying, let me know how it goes and post some pictures of the process, mine were kinda janky. I posted in the Acessories section with more pictures.
I would love it so much if this could be brought to the LG G5 SE (H840). I would be willing to test as much as needed.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 11 (R), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

How long does the battery last though? On stock I can get two to three days with 11-12 hours screen time. And do you plan to fix CTS as well? Some apps outright refuse to run because they smell test-keys or something of that ilk.

signed ROM carries a digital signature that proves it is original, official and unaltered.
Adding or changing files breaks the signature.

Yeah I know about that, I'll either try to fix it or just disable them by default in the next build.
How is the battery drain so far? I did not upgrade to 11 yet. May be wait for the next build.

I've had a good experience so far, very little drain with screen off. Also haven't heard any concerns about it from anyone else.

installing now, I will be back with a feedback
The sound in MS Teams is distorted and sounds like Mickey Mouse, I have tried almost every A12 ROM here, they all have the same issue except for KOSP, they are the only ones who do not have that issue.

fight or flight, that's not how things get fixed, I am providing a pointer that leads to building an Awesome ROM that others don't currently have. I have been enjoying crDroid for years on other Phones.
Don't start a fight now , he just pointed out a bug .

There's no fight to be had? Bug acknowledged over every a12 rom he's used bar KOSP so i just suggested either stay with what works ....no argument

Sorry, I didn't write it clear. I meant after I did clean flash of the ROM some other time, Teams were working. Reinstalling Teams didn't help
Any screenshots? I'm considering to move to cr but idk how it looks .
