Question Any Tmo 2117 users try or use Lineage? - OnePlus 9

The 2117 model is not mentioned in official compatibility, but all the others are. Any Tmobile users running Lineage or know if it works?

I used it for a bit. Works good as any other device IMO.
Follow This guide on the official page.

Im just iffy on the whole thing- Still on A11 OOS11 and Im hearing Ill possibly need A12 firmware as a base before install? I cant just use TWRP and flash? Its been ages since I went custom (HTC One Cyanogen with CWM, I believe we were able to use TWRP as well back then) and it sounds like you need Lineage Recovery?
Can I follow that guide straight from rooted *BL unlocked A11 OOS11? No updates have been applied to my phone afaik. Disabled right away.

Lineage updates the firmware as part of the install.

Ah thank you! Ill prolly do it after some time. I'm completely happy on 11 for now. Have it debloated and set up with xposed modules and everything.

I've used lineage before on the le2117 but decided to switch to evolution x since it's packed with features

What the battery life like between the two? I dont necessarily need features since I add everything I need with magisk\lsposed. This stock rooted rom Im on now is getting great battery life.

On both installation pages for this and EvoX, it says you need to be on A13 firmware. Is this a hard requirement? Or can I truly just flash my phone as it is currently? Stock root, A11, OOS11?
I cant do OTA updates, nor can I install downloaded updates (via the settings app) either because I converted, or its Magisk or something...
How did you get you Tmos to 13? Were you already updated before rooting? Did the OTA work after root for you? I just get install failed immediately with the downloaded package.
Any input would be appreciated Im in no rush, and I already have a backup setup for after conversion (assuming Migrate works on this phone, seems to so far).

Rooting Pie?

I have a question. I want to root my phone (upgraded from oreo to pie, stock), but i'm not sure what should i do. Should i use oreo rooting instructions? I can't find any tutorial for rooting on pie. I don't want to change my rom, i just want to have a root and be able do use the magick and modules that's all. It would be nice to have step by step instruction.
I know i have to unlock my bootloader first at htcdev, then install twrp (not sure which twrp and if the installation is same as on oreo?)
In the past i rooted one phone but it was completely different and i almost bricked my device, because some idiot posted wrong link on the forum... There is so many versions of everything and i'm feeling lost in it.
I hope this helps, but Pie is still very new for the HTC U11. Some even are saying that clean flashes of the Pie RUU have flash, camera, and wifi issues. I am currently running the amazing RR-P rom (which is based on pie), but it runs on the latest Oreo RUU. I have no issues with the ROM and I get insane SoT even without battery savings. I am excited for the future of this phone, since I love the hardware navbar (never liked the on-screen one / though my HTC m8 is still a boss, and even the forums there have a very solid Lineage 17.0 (android 10) working on it).
https://dl.twrp.me/ocn/
Above is the official link to the US HTC u11 TWRP recoveries. I don't think (to be safer than sorry) these are 100% compatible over the PIE firmware though.
I checked HTCdev, and it doesn't seem to have any difference in the instructions in unlocking the bootloader. No mention of Nougat or Oreo, so I would assume there's no difference in doing the same with Pie.
I flashed my U11 after Pie update, working fine, no problems with flash, wifi or anything else (CID: HTC__034)
1. Unlock bootloader via htcdev
2. Flash latest TWRP from the official site. Instructions here for example: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-twrp/
3. Flash Magisk (also from official Magisk site)… that was a little trickier, since TWRP can't mount the encrypted partitions. The workaround is to copy the Magisk ZIP onto an SD Card and flash it from there while in TWRP.
4. Enjoy.
I decided to root this U11 for the first time, since I don't expect any futur software updates coming form HTC.
Thank you for all your help, i'll try this out today. :good:
So i did everything and it's working but i have one problem. After installing magisk i tried to install some modules, and one of them caused bootloop and i was unable to delete it, and also i was unable to install module uninstaller (fail). So i had to do factory reset - any solution to avoid this kind of problems in future?
Also i installed xposed successfully, but none of modules was working..

I have no answers, but as u can see a rooted pie is problematic, hence the many people reverting back to oreo and or nougat, but some people somehow make it work. Not me I could not downgrade quick enough after rooting, unrooted pie worked great, but my many 'need for root apps' did not , so back to oreo for me . Just my 2 cents!! Good luck.

I found many working apps. The biggest problem is "substratum", especially when it comes to changing navbar buttons. But gravitybox is working, and I'm happy with it. Thanks for your help
My rooted Pie works fine, but I didn't install Substratum or Xposed.

Upgrading ROM & Firmware

I've been on Havoc for a long time now and dont really keep up with what's going on that often. Can someone give me a run down on how I could and if I should upgrade firmware. Then, how to go about upgrading to a new updated rom? I'm sure there are install procedures per rom but I'm more interested if updating the firmware will reset my device, etc.
Also, A12. Worth it for now? Magisk support and V4A?
Thanks!

Question [HELP]Fat fingered OOS12 OTA update on rooted stock OOS11 and now I have no touch input.

Hello all,
I ****ed up, what I feel is big time?
I accidentally fat fingered the "install and restart" button for an OTA update for OOS12 on my rooted stock OOS11. From what I learned during my research phase of rooting my OP9, that's a big no no and can cause a lot of problems. When the phone booted back up I have no touch input at all. I have a mouse plugged into my phone and can use the phone that way and I am currently backing up as much as I can in the event I have to wipe my phone.
My question is, can I just dirty flash the previous OOS11 image I was running to go back to before the OOS12 OTA got applied? Just wanted to get the general consensus before I ruin my **** further.
I'm running stock recovery, stock OOS11.2.4.4 with Magisk, MagiskHide and not much else.
Much appreciated!
To my what i know you have to downgrade from 12 to 11 ect. I managed to get to global.
I messed up, and updated mine to 12. and from what i learned. my touch screen did not work due to the fact my update was for a global 9 pro, Not my oneplus 9-tmobile version. In the end I had to use the india msm tool to get back to working

I would def recommend just MSM back to stock 11.2.4.4, I was in your same situation before and I always had the touchscreen issues if I was rooted when I upgraded to OOS12. I think I tried flashing back to 11 and just ended up soft bricking my device and having to MSM anyway. Also like the commenter said above I had to use the Indian MSM but Ive been able to use the Global MSM now with no issues so if thats what your're on Id recommend trying that one first and only using the Indian MSM if that one gives you errors.
So I'm running into this same problem and absolutely can not upgrade to OOS12. Each time, by display will not respond to touch. I went back to 11 via MSM (HAD TO USE OP9 Pro INDIA) because OP screwed something up with these phones.
I have tried multiple ways, went back to OOS 11, installed latest OOS 11 without root. Locked bootloader, Installed latest OOS 11 twice via system update to make sure everything was clean. Installed OOS 12 update and same problem.
Same problem here.....
I have installed the msm india and then the official android 11 for OP 9. After that the OP9 runs on Android 11. After that i have closed the bootloader and try the msm with the eu rom and i gets the "device not match image" error. Maybe i have the new rom for op9 installed and the productnumber is still on op9p ? Now i am going back to a custom rom. is there an option to get the fully working camera on a custom rom?

To get back to the correct ROM, boot to TWRP and flash the signed full zip to each slot.

Need help updating metro version moto one 5g ace from 10 to 11. Rooted

Title says is all, well not all. This would literally be the first update the phone got, I rooted day one out the box and keep the same firmware for flashing when switching roms, now that root is detected with a game, yes my root is depended on access to certain things, so I'm constantly rooting doing what is needed then uninstalling magisk. Very tiring. I wanted to get to Android 11, hoping no data loss, rooted if able and twrp if available for Android 11 on this one. Any pointers in the right direction would be helpful, thanks in advanced
Without taking the OTA update, I know of nothing that will get you to 11 without wiping your data. (That is why backups are good.) lolinet has 11 firmware. TWRP can be had on Telegram. Magisk is available on the github.

I have all the files needed, even without root ota says you up to date security patch January 2021 lol. I heard somewhere to edit the fstab to not auto reboot, kinda like Odin with Samsung's. Then flash thru twrp, thinking that would delete twrp, but hey is 11 really better?
I don't think you can flash a stock ROM with TWRP. No, I don't think 11 is better. That is just my opinion.

I honestly hate everything after 5 lol. 10 is frustrating. 11 has rw I'm doing it, hell 5g speeds 200 apps, 10 minutes lol and for splifs and giggles, imma try thru twrp, replacing recovery.img with twrp, vbmeta blanked then go into service file and flanh file and change the md5, what could go wrong?
Let us know how that worked out I have Moto one 5ga's with Comcast, mine is also rooted.

Question Newbie trying to get a12

hello people, I have a small Problem, i have a redmi Note 11 Pro 5g global bought over Amazon in Germany, before i got it i checked for sure that it will get a12 now in my news app they are talking about the Note 11 Pro 5g will get a12, the last Update was only November Security Patch.
and cuz' i read a Bit more about it there are custom Roms, but without twrp so If it gets updatet i need to Reset my Phone again.
sooo is there a way currently to get me a12 or a newer Version with OTA Updates?
since in the MIUI Downloader App there is a global MIUI 13 a12 Rom, with Recovery i read so much about those Things now i dont have a clue anymore i'll attach some Screenshots downbelow.
If there is a Option with only one time resetting the Phone i would do it, with a safe Guide thanks for Reading.

If you checked that the update is for your device, then you can take it, and flash it through your stock recovery.
By taking the other route, i.e. flashing a custom recovery, and so on, you always can return totally to stock, to take the update you want, if it is available. Also, when some TWRP appears (based on your words), then you can flash any stock ROM, that is prepared to be flashed through recovery.

Sorry for delay, I will show you with images.
Go to Settings/about phone:
Then open it, and tap on 13
Then tap 7 times on 13 Miui 13, to have more options
Then go to the three dots, up to the right, then you'll see the options to flash the package to your device, download the latest ROM package, and navigate to it, then your device will make the rest. Be sure to enable USB debugging previously, and set all the drivers correctly, to have more options, just in case.
