How to expand A13 notifications - General Questions and Answers

I hate the new notifications on A12 and A13. Anyway to make them totally expanded like on A11?

I don't remember how A11 notifications looked like, but if all notifications were expanded automatically, my following suggestion wouldn't really come to that...
But if you're rooted and can implement the AOSP mod, there's an option there where there's a button (in the middle of the notification bar when pulled down) that will expand and compress all notifications; it might not be perfect for you as you will only find the button below all notifications (so it might make it meaningless), but I suppose one could get used to automatically scrolling all the way down and then pressing the button -- it's something

Yes, I am rooted, but I use Nova Launcher. I actually downgraded to A11. So I will have to try expand on someone elses phone, and see if it works for me? LOL
I posted here as well, the notifications look like:

[REQ] "Edit" Button in Notification Window

Would it be possible to place an Edit button into the Notification Window, For example, next to the Clear Button which clears all your notifications? What it would do is let you edit the Notification bar how you want (Change Notification colors and things like that). I know you can already do that in the Spare Parts App In Superbad CyanogenMod but I was just curious if that was a more convenient alternative.

If you ask me, thats already extremely convenient. You're lucky you have the option to do it from the phone.
I prefer it the way it is=p it would be annoying having to see that every time I get a text...
On the other hand, adding some sort of editable region on top of the notification bar could be a neat idea. Like for example, I would put a toggle for brightness so that I could have easy acess to it without needing to go to home and use a widget. The behold 2 and galaxy s have this little power control thingy in the notification bar to toggle brightness, wifi, gps, etc and it would be cool to port that over.

that would be sweet!
The only picture I could find of the behold 2 was in the pdf manual It's small and on page 10 if anyone cares. http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm30312.pdf
I think a shortcut to spare parts from settings would do the trick.
How about putting the power control widget on the notification bar next to the operator name? That would be cool and convient.
What I wouldn't mind seeing is a button on each notification for selective clearing of notifications...
Specifically on the G1 when I'm installing many apps from the market then I have unread emails and sms, I want to clear up all the installed notifications without wiping all the notifications. :\

I'm in complete agreement. If there was some way to have selective clearance of the notification area without actually launching said notification, that would be fantastic.

I am in agreement with both of these! I'm starting to learn Android from the ground up and if nobody beats me to it, I'm gonna work on this.
Well Im glad that me posting this has made some positive ripples in the community.

[Q] Disable heads-up notifications on L?

I have a rooted Nexus 5 and I flashed the factory image for Android Lollipop. I like the clean design but I don't really like the heads-up notifications. You know, the white pop up at the top that covers 25% of your screen. I'm trying out QKSMS and I see a little icon when I get a message, that's enough for me so I don't need an extra notification. It also sometimes pops up when I receive something from Facebook Messenger, but not always for some reason, which is also quite annoying. So is there any way to disable the heads-up notifications? Thanks in advance!
Agreed. I prefer notifications to be discreet. I don't want the contents of private texts to pop-up onscreen if I'm showing something to a friend/co-worker. It would be nice to be able to choose between the Kitkat style of scrolling ticker text in the status bar and L's heads-up notifications. Or to turn them both off and simply have the app icon appear in the status bar, requiring a notification shade pull-down to view the contents.
Choice is good.
I dislike it because often I can't deal with the notification straight away, but still want it in the notification draw for later. With these heads up notifications (which I get for EvolveSMS) I can't get it out the way without it being completely dismissed, it's annoying.
This could be solved with simply adding the function that swiping up will send it to the notification draw
Yeah I'm currently inclined to stick with KK until I know that the worst aspects of Lollipop can be controlled. Obviously in the absence of Xposed on ART it's difficult to make little tweaks here and there.
Heads-up is right at the top of my list. I have always liked how notifications NEVER attack my screen space in Android 2.0-4.4 and I'm not about to go along with a regression to iPhone-like behaviour. When I can disable it globally or on a per-app basis I'll be much more comfortable with the idea of upgrading.
My other biggest concern: The old Silent mode functionality was to allow user-configured audible alarms, while shutting off all other audible notifications and silencing all vibrations. The new modes, you have to choose between a None that also silences alarms, or a Priority mode that lets vibrations leak through.
It's kind of hilarious actually, this is the first time in history that I've been dragging my feet on an Android upgrade when all my less techie friends are upgrading. In the past I'd be proud to be the first one to upgrade and show it off to everyone stuck on the old version.
So, a few weeks later... Are there any ROMs or mods that allow users to disable the heads up feature entirely across the board?

I hate heads up, they are very intrusive, i prefer something more discreet...
I apololgize for bumping this old thread, but has there been any update with this? I'm looking for an SMS app that allows you to disable the heads up style pop-up notifications, but also allows you to reply from notifications. Textra and ChompSMS allow you to disable heads up notifications on Lollipop, but they dont allow you to reply from notification (like EvolveSMS, QKSMS). I'm looking for an app that incorporates both features. Any luck?
With HeadsOff lollipop heads-up notifications can now be disabled!
No root needed.
You can also restore the ticker text in the statusbar!

[Q] Disable/Remove Heads-Up notification in Lollipop, WhatsApp's specially

I really did not like Heads-up notification. It covers important screen area and I don't want to dismiss it only to continue what I'm doing.
Is there yet any way to remove/disable it? Further, if not, is there a way to actually make it happen, such as modifying some system apks? I'm willing to go through it only to disable this annoyance.
Looks like this rom has the option of disabling all heads-up notifications: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/orig-development/rom-cataclysm-nexus-5-t2518660
I don't think your device is a Nexus 5, but you could try asking the developer how he did it it or something. But it is not available on the AOSP original rom.
Hi Gabriel, thanks for the answer. I've got a Nexus 4. I'm gonna ask the developer.

There is for some or other reason the has tied it to the notification tone, set it to silent then the heads up should stop and return to the ticker and led notification but with out sound.

Nougat Notifications won't appear expanded by default?

My Verizon Note 5 just updated to Nougat and I'm finding an annoyance with the new Notifications functionality. Is there a way to have the top notification expanded by default and not have to manually expand every notification? Seems like Marshmallow used to do that but now Nougat always displays every notification in collapsed view and the user has to manually expand them every time. What a pain the rear. Any ideas on how to fix or work around this?

Mi Mix 3 Notification Issues

I've just yesterday gotten a Mi Mix 3 and set it up accordingly, and I'm finding MIUI okay as a whole except for some issues with notifications I'm having. Basically:
Some apps that send push notifications will only send them to the notification shade. No notification icon, no pop-up alert, no lock screen notification (more on that later), no sound, no vibration, no notification light. This is all completely independent of the notification settings of the app. I can turn everything on and it still won't show. Some apps show fine, such as discord and messages, but they still won't show on the lockscreen:
No notifications showing on the lockscreen at all. For apps that do send notifications, only the sound and notification light will display when I receive one, but checking both the lockscreen and notification shade whilst the phone is locked will show me nothing until I unlock it. This is while "Lock screen notifications" is enabled in the app notification channel.
No per-app notification sounds. This is most likely less of a bug and more of a missing implementation, but since this is a base Android feature now is there alternate way to enable these?
Settings specific to these issues:
In "Lockscreen & Password / Advanced Settings / On Lock Screen" the phone is set to "Show all notifications and their contents".
In "Lockscreen & Password / Notifications" it's set to "Show Animation".
In "Notifications & Status bar" "Show notification icons" and "Show on lock screen" is on.
MIUI version is fully updated at 10.2.1.
Anyone got any idea?
Many thanks
For me i had to activate it for each app seperately, that i wanted notifications from. Except for apps that already gave me notifications like snapchat. I know i had to do it manually on instagram for example

Strangely, by going into the app notification settings and changing the settings off and on again it seems to have fixed the problem? At least for the actual app's I've tested (twitter and discord).
I've also tried with an app called push notification tester however and this has the same 1. and 2. issues. I'm not sure what the difference is but if it works for important stuff at least that's what matters.
To everyone else the 3rd question still stands; is there a way to get app-specific notification sounds in MIUI 10?
The simple solution is to install a non-MIUI-based ROM.
Have someone found out how to set per app notification sound?

LOL. Stop fat-shaming it! Weight was one of my biggest concerns coming from a Galaxy S5, and the MM3 is heavy, but you do get used to it after a couple of weeks.

Literally burst out laughing in a meeting where I'm the lowest man on the totem pole by far, oops.
I'm having this same problem again myself
Even Xiaomi apps like YiCam don't work right half the time.
The notification inconsistency in MIUI is one of the biggest reasons that I just listed mine for sale. No matter how many times I've gone through individual app settings and overall notification settings, it never works as expected. And my expectation is only for it to work as the settings that I've selected indicate. It makes me a little sad actually... this was my first Xiaomi device and I ended up liking MIUI way more than I thought I would (especially compared to EMUI... which is complete trash). Oh well... on to the next.
I run an app called Notification Repeater(apk) and it seems to address any of the inconsistencies that MIUI has with Notifications(or lack there of). I use another app called AutoNotification(by joaomgcd on the Play Store i believe) to block some notifications such as "x app is diplaying over other apps" that never seem to go away.
I know it kind of sucks to have to find a work around to use a phone when realistically it would be nice if your phone just worked the way you wanted it to out of the box..but since installing these apps i have been more than happy with my current situations when it comes to Notifications.
I've also had similar problems. In addition to manually turning on each apps notification in settings (Have to remember this for every time I download an app as well) I've aslo downloaded the app 'Notification Repeater' which has helped significantly. I get absolutely ZERO notifications on the lock screen though which is something I still haven't figured out how to fix without switching ROMs. I hope someone can figure something out.

It is sort of thick but is the densest phone I've ever held. Got used to it after a week or two though, I don't think it's a deal breaker
