LINEAGE OS A13 Internet problem [SOLVED] - General Questions and Answers

I successfully flashed Andy Yan lineage os on my Umidigi a11 pro max mt6768 8gb/128gb
It worked flawlessly and possibly the best ROM I've laid my hands on but it can't connect to the internet
I can make calls and get my data connection on but I can't seem to surf the internet
Right now I'm back to derpfest a13 and it didn't have any internet issue
Is there anything I can tweak to enable it to browse the internet
Here is the download link for the ROM
https://sourceforge.net/projects/andyyan-gsi/files/lineage-20-td/lineage-20.0-20230218-UNOFFICIAL-arm64_bgN.img.xz/download
My sim is MTN

you could try "one.one.one.one" or "1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com" as some roms dont accept bare numbers for dns.
this issue reminds me alot of some bugs in other roms tho..

Well, I'm not sure what else to suggest for you. Hopefully someone who knows more than I do will be able to help.

does it show a "no internet" thing under the wifi symbol?
try a different browser too, maybe this one's blocked by some strange network setting

can you access some kind of terminal emulator?
go into developer options and look for a terminal emulator option, then type "ping google.ca" and "ping 1.1.1.1" to see what it can and cant access.. (1.1.1.1 is an ip while google.ca is a domain name, trying to understand if its a dns issue or an internet issue)

ping seems to be acting up but its obviously a dns issue since it cant find google
try using an older build, this one may have broken it
otherwise try sideloading cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 app

I don't have the phone on me right now, so I can't check, but I am swear I did exactly that, and couldn't find it. Are you on the stock rom?
Are you doing this?

Do I have to install a special apk or something?

I'm on my PA 3.60 build, I'm almost positive after you change anything in the service menus you have to reboot afterwards, so I would give that a shot as well. [Q] Moto G Error: Can not Establish a reliable data connection to the server.

Guys, since I got my Moto g, I can not really access at the app from google because of this error. Have researched a lot about it on the internet and none of the solutions I found on the net worked for me. Have adjusted time and date, formatted, formatted again, changed the host file, deleted the host file, wiped cache, formatted again. . But no way it can access the app from google. To tell the truth I've got it once, dont know how, but then again the same problem. Please help me. I'm not american so excuse me for the English.
Wrong internet settings? Does it work on WiFi? If it does check your APN settings.

Sure. I used Hosts Editor Pro. So, I add the following host:
IP Address: 173.197.70.100
Host Entries: android.clients.Google.com.
This contradicts the tutorial that says to delete everything and just leave the localhost. Well, just that not worked. It was necessary add the host above.
My Hosts Editor stayed like that:
127.0.0.1 localhost
173.194.70.100 android.clients.Google.com

[Q] Spoof MAC Address on 5.0 Lollipop?

Does anybody know how to change the MAC address on a VZW M8 running 5.0? Or on a phone running 5.0 in general? I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
I'm trying to change my phone's MAC address so that I can spoof a "Nintendo Zone" hotspot and get some of the freebie-goodies for my 3DS from home using my phone as a hotspot. The process is pretty straight forward (Make a hotspot, name it "attwifi", change the MAC to something Nintendo uses, get goodies.), but I'm having trouble getting the MAC address changed. Most tutorials have you use a terminal emulator with busybox to change it via command, or a hex editor to change the MAC address in a specific file, but I've not had any luck with either approach. Even the apps on the Play Store seem to fail. My guess is that it has something to do with Lollipop likely changing how MAC addresses are stored and used.
I've tried just about everything I could find, and am running out of ideas as well as ways to phrase the question to google to try looking this up myself. If anybody could tell me how to do this, or give me some pointers, that'd be great.
Also, in case it needs to be said: I am rooted, and unlocked with busybox installed. I've got the stock rom still, with TWRP if any of that matters.
Also, also. I realize this is a repost of my question in the HTC M8 VZW forum, and apologize for that. I'd have deleted the previous, but I can't seem to find out how. Either way, I figure this issue probably has less to do the the HTC M8 phone itself, and more so with Lollipop 5.0 as a whole, making this a better forum to ask in. Hope that isn't a problem.

I've already tried about a dozen different MAC Spoofers on the Play Store, but none of them actually seem to work. I'm pretty sure something with 5.0 has changed the way MAC addresses are used.

I recommend not using Pry-Fi by chainfire. After first use on a Nexus 5 running rooted stock ROM v5.1.1, it permanently broke Wi-Fi functions (setting would not turn on). After extensive web research and troubleshooting, I had to reflash the ROM and wipe the device to get it working again.
If you do install Pry-Fi, I warn app users to get a full backup and know how to restore before installing.
Chainfire has done great work in the community, but Pry-Fi app is no longer great.

Cannot resolve forum.xda-developers.com

I have this really odd issue with my Z3 in that I cannot, on any network (wireless or carrier), resolve through DNS forum.xda-developers.com. I first noticed it because my XDA premium HD app couldn't connect to the forums at all. I did a bit of digging and managed to uncover that I can't connect to anything related to the forums. I CAN however connect to the main portal on www.xda-developers.com.
What I have tried:
1. Different wireless networks - no luck.
2. Other devices - all work fine on all the tried networks.
3. Carrier network (Rogers CA) - no luck, but again with other devices no problem
4. Ping and nslookup through Fing network tools - not able to resolve
5. Ping and nslookup through terminal emulator - not able to resolve
6. hosts file just has the standard localhost entry
7. Browse with Chrome just gives the standard error for unresolvable DNS
8. So far I have only seen this happen on the forums.xda-developers.com address.
I am running a Z3 (D6603) with a custom ROM per below.
Pre-rooted ROM from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/d6603-5-0-2-flashable-stock-23-1-0-690-t3056361
D6603_23.4.A.0.546_Customized_US_SuperSU_XZDR2.8.2 1 thanx to @julianbl
It's an odd one for sure, so if anyone has any creative ideas for me to test out please let me know. Thanks in advance.
use titanium backup or something similar to disable/uninstall "PrototypeProtection".
It's an app that sony uses to block certain sites when the bootloader is unlocked.
Julián
Go in Root Explorer,
Mount in R/W
Go to: system/etc/hosts
Try to add a xdadevs rule,
examp:
#207.244.72.9 http://forum.xda-developers.com
then reboot your device just normal.
i hope it works,
- bram

I should note that I have not unlocked my bootloader. I tried this and it has unfortunately had no effect. Open to other suggestions though, thanks for trying.
[EDIT] I may have spoken too soon. I tried connecting after disabling (freezing) that app and didn't have any luck. I rebooted the phone, and things are back online. I will do some further testing to get concrete and repeatable behavior documented. Thanks @julianbl

Thanks for your desire to help - given what we've found out so far this isn't a HOSTS file issue. There is no entry in the hosts file, and as such any DNS resolution for the domain should leverage DNS servers based on DHCP settings.
In my mind, adding a rule in the HOSTS file to force resolution of the domain, might work but it's not a real fix as to why this is happening.
Refer to my previous note that the suggestion to block the "PrototypeProtection" app is what has resolved the issue so far.
Thanks again though @bramybram, appreciate your willingness to help.
Hey there, I had the same issue... It is quite frustrating, I guess it's some bug in the firmware you installed (since I used the same to flash my z3)... I resolved it by flashing another firmware, I suggest you the D6603_23.4.A.0.546_Customized_NCB_SuperSU_XDR2.8.2 1 (https://mega.co.nz/#!GJQVBL6K!x8bB2HS-TbpbZTb5IamrJB_xduDMHl9j6jQyAqrJpVQ) one, it worked for me

Problem with WIFI authentication: no redirected login page

Hi everyone!
I have formatted the cell phone a few days ago, and resetted it to factory settings.
Going to the gym, which has free wifi, I tried to connect as usual, but I am no longer redirected to web page where you have to login (typing the provided password).
I tried to delete the gym related networks, to use another browser (Firefox), to clean the cache by Wipe...
ZERO results.
Any saviors to help me, and to make my Christmas time happier?
Thanks in advance.

So, using any browser (i.e. Chrome), you type 1.1.1.1 and the login page should appear? I'll try as soon as possible, and I'll let you know.

The gym (and all others) will keep a record of your MAC address. To get the renewal page you will need to change your MAC address, followed by a reboot. Then it will appear.
Thank you for your reply.
How do I change my MAC address?
You will need a ROOTed device. It looks like there are no MAC spoofers that work any more without root. If you have root, you are in fine shape- download MacChanger app, run it. Reboot may be required.
