phone activation - LG V50 ThinQ Questions & Answers

Good afternoon. After resetting to factory settings, the phone will forgive me to activate it. But I am located where there is no access to the Verizon network. How to activate it?

How to activate my Droid 2 Global?

I got my lovely droid 2 global (white) today, which is amazing. However, when I turned on the phone, it required me to activate. How can I activate it in Toronto, Canada without in US? Thanks.
Exit that wizard, switch to GSM/UMTS and you are ready to go (assuming you unlocked)
hi all,
i've been using my lovely Droid 2 Global outside US for quite a while (unlocked and using GSM network), and it worked all fine till today...
i tried to install fission today, and it didn't work for me (it just won't boot up), so i restore to 2.3.29, and finally managed to boot it up...
but after i power up, and enter PIN for my SIM, it requires me to Activate the phone...when i hit Activate, it immediately show "Phone Activation not supported on this network"...any suggestion on what i should do? i think i have the unlock code that i got from the buyer, but the phone doesn't even give me a chance to enter it!!!
i don't need to use Verizon network, i just want to use my D2G under GSM!! Please help!
i should have asked: why i need to re-activate again simply bcs i restore from a SBF??? I thought it shall stay as activated and unlocked once it was done...am i thinking wrongly?!
Don't freak up. Activation is only for CDMA radio. Every time you do factory restore (wipe data) CDMA programming gets erased too. GSM radio doesn't need activation. Simply ignore this, switch to GSM/UMTS mode and start using your phone.
If you have US account and you want to reactivate so you can use CDMA roaming feature, you need to do manual activation, but you may need Verizon's support to help you with some numbers you need to put up in programming.
BTW - the boot loop happened because you didn't wipe data after SBF. Fission (and any other non-stock ROM) will cause boot loop if you don't wipe data after SBF flash. (SBF flash process does not wipe data as part of the flashing).
GSM radio need to activate to use outside USA ! You need to contact with Verizon to get unlock code or use some unlock sim

You are mistaking unlocking with activation process. On GSM you activate the SIM card (Subscriber Identification Module), while on CDMA the "SIM" is integrated in the radio, hence you activate the radio.
For Droid 2 Global since it has essentially 2 radios - a GSM and a CDMA one, for GSM you need active SIM card to activate and for CDMA you need to make sure phone's MEID is active on your Verizon account then you program it (activte) either automatically while on Verizon network by dialling *228 or manually by calling Verizon support.
For the GSM radio in D2G, in order to use non-Verizon SIM in it, you need to unlock the phone first. Once unlocked, phone remains permanently unlocked and no SBF or wipe or anything will change this status.
Hey guys. I just bought an unlocked D2G on ebay so I thought I would share my experiences.
I got to the same screen where I was told "phone activation not supported on this network" and it was extremely frustrating. my only option was to hit ok and go back to the "touch the android" screen. I tried everything including the menu button. Nothing worked. This was with my SIM card inserted.
So I took out my SIM card and tried again. this time the menu button worked; it brought up the wireless options menu. I wanted to switch to "GSM only" as I had a feeling that would fix the problem. But I was told "no GSM card, must use CDMA mode". So, feeling stuck, I called Verizon, and after waiting on hold with the first CSR, and getting about 30 seconds into the phone call with the high up tech guy, I was in the middle of telling him about how in CDMA mode the wireless options menu would come up, but not with a SIM card inserted, the wireless options menu actually did come up. So I switched to "GSM only" and I was in!
Well, sorta. I had to get the phone linked with my google account via wifi, because the phone had no internet at all. A quick search of the internet revealed that this was a common problem - "I can talk on my D2G, but no data!" I called Rogers and sure enough, there were some settings I had to change to make this work.
Go into wireless options, then mobile network settings, then GSM/UMTS options (I assume you have a D2G because you want a droid you can put your SIM card in, right?) and then to Access Point Names. As this phone is unlocked, there are no APNs listed and your phone is neutered until one is added. I had no idea because my last phone was straight from Rogers and was of course hardwired to know this stuff.
Setting up the APN is really easy. just give it any name, list the APN as internet.com, MCC is 302, and MNC is 720. That's all. Back out. You will notice nothing is showing there. Don't do it again. It's there, but it's not showing up until you reboot. On my first reboot I had the 3G icon pop up in the notification bar and just about filled my pants. finally, the phone I paid $400 for was fully functional! No issues since then. Smooth as butter.
Thanks for the information and sharing leobg and seventieslord!
Gingerbread's rolling out, I'm planning to update my dad's D2G, but we're outside the US with an unlocked phone using GSM. I was worried after updating to Gingerbread, the phone would ask for a reactivation. This thread put my mind to rest

Cannot connect to sprint network after resetting APN to default

Long story short, I reset some of my APN settings to default while running Dirty Unicorns, I could connect to data but couldn't text/call. I've now flashed my phone to stock and performed a factory reset but no luck. I also took my phone into Sprint and they were unsuccessful. They told me I could upgrade or pay $75, I don't want to do either so I'm really hoping someone knows a solution!
Some things:
1) If I look in my phone identity information, the MIN and phone number say unknown
2) Data doesn't work at all now
3) If I change to CDMA only then it simply shows not connected to any network.

Help with data connection T-mobile.

Hi guys!
I just bought an unlocked gold S6 (32gb) and tested my T-mobile sim on it.
It didn't worked, I can only make calls and receive text messages. The sim status says that it is on service, but disconnected from the network, so I can't use my data. Can anyone help me with this? My data is on, and the phone is "international use only" (and I think it's what I need to fix but I don't know how). I tried everything from restarting it, factory reset, and called t-mobile support (they didn't helped at all), please help. My device isn't rooted or any of that, but if need to I will.
Thanks in advance!
Sounds like you maybe have to enter correct apn settings into phone?

Can't turn on data using the Verizon G5 on AT&T?

I just bought a used Verizon LG G5 (VS987), however my carrier is AT&T. After putting in the Sim card, calling and texting works but when I go to turn on mobile data in the settings, I get a popup that says "Add Mobile Service Please contact Customer Service at (800) 922-0204 for assistance."
I have called both that customer service number for Verizon ^ and also AT&T. I made sure that my IMEI was updated on our AT&T plan, and I have the right APN settings put in. When I called Verizon, the guy didn't really have much to say except that the device is unlocked but full access to features can't be guaranteed, and I am aware that Verizon and AT&T use different wireless bands, which he explained, but I should be able to at least have some kind of data. We both agreed that this is just some piece of Verizon software keeping me from using data, and he suggested rooting the phone to get a workaround.
One suggestion that I saw in some forums and tried was that resetting the network settings in Backup and Reset does turn mobile data on by default, however I get the same Verizon popup as soon as I open any browser, and other apps just say there is no connection, although when I do this I can see that I am getting either HSPA or 4G data, it just seems like it's being blocked by this Verizon stuff. Messing around with other setttings such as Data roaming and System select didn't change anything.
Does anyone have any experience using a Verizon G5 on AT&T? I saw a video of someone demoing T-Mobile 4G data on the Verizon model, and another user on XDA said that he put in his T-Mobile sim and it worked perfectly. My best guess on where to go from here is to unlock and root, and see if I can install a custom rom to get around this. Does anyone know if there is a stock LG rom without all of the Verizon bloatware installed, maybe a stock rom for the unlocked model of the G5? Any suggestions on how to get this to work are appreciated, and I think this is posted in the right place, I'm an active reader on XDA but this is one of my first posts
Thanks to anyone that reads all of this!
Update: I reset the phone to factory settings and set it up with the sim card from AT&T in it. Since then I can turn on mobile data, and the notification bar shows I have data (mostly HSPA), however I have no connection when I try to load a webpage. Tomorrow morning i'll stop by the AT&T store and see if there's anything they can do.

Did you add the correct APNs for AT&T in the phone when you put in your sim? you need it for internet and MMS
Did you which it to Gobal or other option that is not LTE/CDMA?
Same problem here

Was your problem solved? I'm having the same problem with another Verizon LG Device. If it was solved, what did you do?

Verizon z4 on tmobile

Finally upgraded from my moto Z2 force. Wanted to keep all my motto mods so I purchased a Verizon unlocked moto Z4. Calling text data all work fine but I'm unable to get an option for voice over LTE and and when I make a phone call it drops to 3G. I visited a store and they replaced the SIM card. Unfortunately I'm still getting the same results, any hint tips clues on how to make this work ?

I have a Retail unlocked Z4 on verizon service, so a different situation than you. However, I have had some experience with my VoLTE disappearing from my Phone Settings>Network&Internet>Mobile Network menu.
To fix this:
1. I log into my verizon account from a pc,
2. go to Features/Add-Ons
3. Disable the Advanced Calling/VoLTE
4. Accept the terms&conditions about "changing your plan"
5. Confirm the change.
6. Reboot phone.
7. Go back into Features/Add-ons
8. Enable the Advanced Calling/VoLTE
9. Accept the terms&conditions about "changing your plan"
10. Confirm the change.
11. Reboot phone, and VoLTE should be showing back up on your phone settings (may have to give it an hour or two then try rebooting phone, just turn off and back on again).
The last time my VoLTE disappeared, I kept getting an error when trying to disable the Feature online in my account on my pc. I did the above steps disabling and then enabling a different free feature, and the end result was the same: VoLTE was back on my phone settings.
Maybe try doing something similar while viewing your TMobile acct on a computer.
Alternatively, if you have a family member or buddy that can let you pop in their VZW SIM card in your Z4, then go into their acct settings on a pc, do what I mention above, and then once you have VoLTE back on your phone settigs: Turn off phone and give them back their SIM Card, nothing would have really changed on their acct, and your phone should still have VoLTE in settings (until...I find the VoLTE disappears for me only after some of the Android security OTA updates, which fortunately/unfortunately are not really happening to our Z4s anymore).
Hope this helps.
