Question March 6 what up hurry up - Google Pixel 7 Pro

Let's go March 6 and hopefully everything goes smoothly if not I will ask for help lol

does anyone know if there's anything particularly exciting reported to come with this update?
I know they've been working on a fix for scrolling issues -- I believe the fix has already been included in previous releases, but I may be wrong and it may be still upcoming -- and I know my bluetooth issue connecting to car radio that was broken with the Jan update had been fixed with Febs... but is there anything else reported?

My S23U just got February Play System Update this morning.
Edit : whopps, you are right, they released March security update as well. Samsung is really faster than google now

I find it weird that android doesn't really get good feature updates anymore... Just the annual overhaul.
There's no x.1 with cool new features and .x3 after 6 months with a new look and feel etc ... iOS still gets that but it seems to be gone with Android and it just seems to be security updates and bug fixes monthly until the next big version.
That said, OEMs with their skins and mods seem to add x.x updates themselves on their own hardware that runs android.

Has Android ever gotten major additional features between version updates? There have been some exceptions but it's pretty much always been a gradual stability improvement of the features on the monthly updates then new features added on the new letter update. Rinse and repeat.
I do find it amusing that Samsung have released this month earlier than Google. Back when I started using Samsung phones it would invariably be months before Samsung would catch up.

Security updates in a timely mannor are good, but as long as it is stable, that's what counts for me.

That's boring. So this won't include the list of big fixes, right? That'll be somewhere else? I'm hoping the change log with all the "boring" stuff includes lots of bug fixes. I don't personally have any other than every once in awhile a line flash across the width of the screen about ⅓ of the way down. Good indicated other screen and GPU issues were going to be fixed, and I'm hoping my issue is something covered in that umbrella. Other than that and missing the November update battery life I love this phone.

I don't see any real difference tbh

@EtherealRemnant -- I know you had been interested in dual esim from before and had been frustrated that it hadn't been truly working for P7P up til now...would you still be interested in it or have you gotten it working?
I remember reading an article a couple weeks back talking about how it will be coming (probably feature drop), so it's nice to confirm that it's here now...

We've known that Cupcake has been floating around in dev circles for months now, but it's been clear as mud how the Open Handset Alliance plans to incorporate all of the lovely features it brings into Android's trunk, how Android will be versioned going forward, and in general, how the group plans to present a unified front to developers, manufacturers, and end users. That all gets a little clearer today with the official unveiling of Android 1.5 that fully incorporates the Cupcake branch, and -- perhaps much more importantly -- a home screen framework for developing widgets and populating live folders with whatever content you can dream up. There's no word on exactly how 1.5 will come to existing Android handsets in the field, but as far as we can tell, there's nothing listed in the changelog that would prevent current hardware from taking full advantage -- and the OHA is going to be releasing a series of articles about new-to-1.5 features in the coming weeks to help devs "prepare your applications for the release of Android 1.5 on phones." Sounds encouraging, doesn't it?

Devs should start working on widgets now :]]

Sounds good. Hopefully thisll help haykuro with his custom G builds

Oh I most certainly care and thanks for the information. I have been reviewing the information on updates and there do not seem to be too many surprises. It should be noted that this is a early preview of 1.5 not the final release. Final release of 1.5 is scheduled for the end of April which suggests G1 will not get an update till May.
A widget API is welcome. I can think of uses for the speech input intent as well though I am not terribly impressed with the speech search reliability. Until I have had a chance to review the docs and the upcoming articles though I do not really know what the other improvements bring to the table.
We are in an exciting time for android though. Cheers.

Just wondering, did it skip from software version H81010e to H81010g or did I miss an update?
Is LG or AT&T posting change logs anywhere?
Is there any tool that will let us pull version data from the APKs so we can see what's updated?

Yes, the software went from "e" to "g" with one update. It is normal during software development to not release every point release.
Change logs do get posted, but they are not very good and they are not timely (it may take a few days).
Wonder if I will get this since I use my h810 on tmo's network. I checked for update but it didn't find anything.

New Update Rolling Out For SM-G950F (AQEB)

Hi guys! Just wanted to inform there was an update today, new base band is AQEB.
Changelog says it fixed issues with bluetooth and sd stability plus some minor fixes (should have taken a screenshot of it, but as the changes weren't so big i though it wasn't an important update). For now i haven't noticed any big change, today afternoon when i get out of work i will test the bluethooth with my car as i had some issues with the wheel's buttons for skipping songs sometimes working and sometimes it doesn't.

Updated here in ZTO csc (Brazil). No changes that I can see but the phone runs smoothly since the update...
Installed it yesterday and since I didn't have any issues with BT (haven't actually used it yet) or SD card I can't say I noticed any differences on these subjects.
But the stock launcher does seem smoother. When I'm opening and closing the app drawer by swiping I don't get the occasional stutter I used to get sometimes.

Could someone test Glimp app from playstore with a real freestyle libre sensor?
As i have posted in another post up to ACDD the NFC stoped functioning with Freestyle libre sensor (Blood sugar monitoring sensor for diabetes)
The firmware version that was functioning was only the AQCA which i had to role back to in order to have a functioning Glimp in my S8.
A test with this firmware would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
I don't understand why people say "phone runs smooth after update". Are you implying that there are scenarios where an S8 does not run smoothly? What is this nonsense?

A matter of perspective. Compared to my 3t the s8 isn't as smooth for sure. It's not that it's stuttering hard or so, but I do have to wait a little longer for certain things to pop up and every no and than scrolling is a bit jittery. Nothing that bothers me really, but every improvement in actual UI speed is very welcome.

is there a way to force update?
Is it just me or they removed option to change default camera app?
I can choose the default camera.
This build is very smooth, no lag with the multitasking and accessing to Google lateral page.
Is there a release note for the August update?
Btw, I have a question about OTA update. When I go to the update page, it always shows last check for update a couple of hours ago. However, when I manually click to check for update. The August update appears available for download. This is not the first time. I observe this behavior from the first update (few months ago). Therefore, it happens all the time to me. Does the 'silent' check for update work for anyone of you? Also, is there a way to set the frequency to check for update? Like, once a day, once a week, manually, etc.
The UI general lag has been fixed. Switching between apps and opening animation is smooth now.

The August security patch was rolled out probably 3 days back. Don't rely on those Nokia guys. They do not know anything. Every time I get in touch with them with any question or issue, they always play the same tune "Please visit the service centre".
Talking about OTA update after rolling back from Android pie beta, we all had this issue. You need to wait for a few hours and then check for the update. For me, it took around 3 and a half hours to get the August ota update after rolling back.

Have you got your Magic UI 2.1 update?
UK user here, I manually updated my PCT-L29 C432 to 9.1.0.229 via HSTool and so far my experience with Magic UI 2.1 has been really good. Here are a few notes:
- UI responsiveness is improved, animations are smoother with no more stuttering observed.
- App loading speeds seem faster, everything is almost instant. Although the phone was already fast to begin with, now it feels like I never have to wait for anything when launching apps.
- Swipe gestures feel more accurate, I don't need to reattempt any gestures like opening the app switcher or side-swiping to go back.
- Mis-touches are reduced, in the past if I wiped my screen with a cloth it would pick it up as a touch gesture. This now happens less often.
- Desktop Mode connection is much more stable. Previously even if I connected my phone using an HDMI cable it would frequently flicker and the signal would eventually cut out. This seems to have been fixed.
- Folders now display 3 X 4 icons instead of 3 X 3, which makes apps much more accessible.
- No incompatibilities observed with previous apps (yet).
- Battery life is slightly improved.
And a few other things to be aware of:
- App suggestions are now permanently displayed at the top of the App Drawer, and the option to hide them is no longer available.
- The standalone Flashlight app is gone (it was redundant anyway).
- Breaks compatibility with some previous third-party themes, in particular "Dark Mode" themes.
- I haven't received the AR Measurement app, although it was supposed to be included in 2.1? ?
App suggestions that cannot be removed: very very very annoying.
On the other hand, I use the "standard" home screen style without a drawer so I don't care.
Also, I'm not seeing the option for "Dual-View Video" anywhere.

I just wondered if it might be already available, as it seems 'anonimo' has it, and appears to be in UK

Yes my phone downloaded it a few days ago... It's the 8G/256G version...
By the way, contrary to what the first post says, I still have the Torch app with its own icon.

Nope still no update for the v20 Indian Users. If you check the honor club app it says that we should be receiving it on the 24th of July. But to be honest it will be by the end of July or probably first week of August. Coming from oneplus phones I am really dissappointed with Honor for such slow updates.

Do you know what specific build number it is? This should be the three digits after "9.1.0".
It's 9.1.0.201 for me.
Updated last night 2.1.201, without measureing app.
Got mine today. Very nice. So far noticed improved performance. Not that it was slow in any way, to begin with! Seems quicker with the animations. And the navigation gestures also seem smoother. I like it.
Got mine, first it was 9.1.0.200, and now 9.1.0.230, both 4.3GB, through OTA.

And you are from?
Nothing yet via HiSuite or OTA in the UK but not due for EU until tomorrow. Hopefully it'll go live ASAP after that.
