And what's more, they have fixed the suttering issue! Unbelievable.
Got it on TA-1046
Any issues fixed?
is there a way to force update?
Is it just me or they removed option to change default camera app?
I can choose the default camera.
This build is very smooth, no lag with the multitasking and accessing to Google lateral page.
Is there a release note for the August update?
Btw, I have a question about OTA update. When I go to the update page, it always shows last check for update a couple of hours ago. However, when I manually click to check for update. The August update appears available for download. This is not the first time. I observe this behavior from the first update (few months ago). Therefore, it happens all the time to me. Does the 'silent' check for update work for anyone of you? Also, is there a way to set the frequency to check for update? Like, once a day, once a week, manually, etc.
The UI general lag has been fixed. Switching between apps and opening animation is smooth now.

Me too. Phone feels a lot smoother after this patch! Is that normal for security patches or is that just me? Double tapping the app switcher button to go to the last app feels a lot more fluid than before.

Sent from my Nokia 7 plus using Tapatalk
Just double click on the power button to choose the default camera. If not, clear the camera apps, then double click on the power button to choose de default camera.

Your all liars!!!!!!
This is what support told me tonight. What the hell have you guys installed!!!!!!
HMD seem pretty confused about updates. I tried Pie beta ota, rolled back ota and now dont get the updates. I upgraded from the 6.1 hoping that this one was better. It's not the phone, its HMD!!!!!!!
My phone is blazing fast now... I don't know what they have done but the diference is intense.

The August security patch was rolled out probably 3 days back. Don't rely on those Nokia guys. They do not know anything. Every time I get in touch with them with any question or issue, they always play the same tune "Please visit the service centre".
Talking about OTA update after rolling back from Android pie beta, we all had this issue. You need to wait for a few hours and then check for the update. For me, it took around 3 and a half hours to get the August ota update after rolling back.

I haven't updated yet. Still a little reluctant to do it since we don't have root yet. Don't want this to be the patch. :/

No, no change log. Also checked on AT&T's software update site and they don't have this new update listed yet. All they have is the one we got last month that updated AT&T's address book app.
Phone is rebooting now..
I don't see anything different right off the bat, but will report back if anything has changed/improved.

Interesting, thats the same old version as the last update, where verizon got a new kernel.

any news on touchscreen?
Just insatalled going to uninstall SGS screenbooster to see if there is a fix for the touchscreen. Will report back
Just wondering, did it skip from software version H81010e to H81010g or did I miss an update?
Is LG or AT&T posting change logs anywhere?
Is there any tool that will let us pull version data from the APKs so we can see what's updated?
I've been out of the scene for awhile (first new phone since the One X) so please pardon me if the answers to my questions are common knowledge.
im on 10e, and tried to manual check for 10g, says i'm up to date... can't check again for 24hrs.

Yes, the software went from "e" to "g" with one update. It is normal during software development to not release every point release.
Change logs do get posted, but they are not very good and they are not timely (it may take a few days).
Wonder if I will get this since I use my h810 on tmo's network. I checked for update but it didn't find anything.

Verizons 11A update had performance and touchscreen updates. Definitely feels faster and touchscreen feels more responsive.
Although my battery is at 30% where normally this time of the day is at 70%. And also my Qi Charger had my phone rebooting this morning.

Version Check
When the phone is powered on, go to Settings >System> About phone > Build number, make sure the build version number is the same with the release version.
Basic Function Check
Power on the phone, enter the standby screen, and dial a phone number to make a phone call. Press and hold the End button to power off the phone. Check that these functions are normal.
Go over all the APK files and make sure that all of them function properly.
Upgrade Issue Troubleshooting
For an upgrade that follows the procedure and does not violate the precautions but failed, contact your local maintenance center. For details about maintenance centers, call the local Huawei service hotline. For information of the hotline numbers, visit the hihonor website
NOTE:
The wait is finally over, as the update is now out. Considering the usual case of staged roll-out, Magic UI 2.1 update may take time to reach every HONOR View20 units. Some users are already seeing the update on their smartphones, So hang in tight as you may get to see the notification anytime soon!
Have you got your Magic UI 2.1 update?
UK user here, I manually updated my PCT-L29 C432 to 9.1.0.229 via HSTool and so far my experience with Magic UI 2.1 has been really good. Here are a few notes:
- UI responsiveness is improved, animations are smoother with no more stuttering observed.
- App loading speeds seem faster, everything is almost instant. Although the phone was already fast to begin with, now it feels like I never have to wait for anything when launching apps.
- Swipe gestures feel more accurate, I don't need to reattempt any gestures like opening the app switcher or side-swiping to go back.
- Mis-touches are reduced, in the past if I wiped my screen with a cloth it would pick it up as a touch gesture. This now happens less often.
- Desktop Mode connection is much more stable. Previously even if I connected my phone using an HDMI cable it would frequently flicker and the signal would eventually cut out. This seems to have been fixed.
- Folders now display 3 X 4 icons instead of 3 X 3, which makes apps much more accessible.
- No incompatibilities observed with previous apps (yet).
- Battery life is slightly improved.
And a few other things to be aware of:
- App suggestions are now permanently displayed at the top of the App Drawer, and the option to hide them is no longer available.
- The standalone Flashlight app is gone (it was redundant anyway).
- Breaks compatibility with some previous third-party themes, in particular "Dark Mode" themes.
- I haven't received the AR Measurement app, although it was supposed to be included in 2.1? ?
App suggestions that cannot be removed: very very very annoying.
On the other hand, I use the "standard" home screen style without a drawer so I don't care.
Also, I'm not seeing the option for "Dual-View Video" anywhere.
I am in UK.

Nope still no update for the v20 Indian Users. If you check the honor club app it says that we should be receiving it on the 24th of July. But to be honest it will be by the end of July or probably first week of August. Coming from oneplus phones I am really dissappointed with Honor for such slow updates.

Do you know what specific build number it is? This should be the three digits after "9.1.0".
It's 9.1.0.201 for me.
Updated last night 2.1.201, without measureing app.
Got mine today. Very nice. So far noticed improved performance. Not that it was slow in any way, to begin with! Seems quicker with the animations. And the navigation gestures also seem smoother. I like it.
Got mine, first it was 9.1.0.200, and now 9.1.0.230, both 4.3GB, through OTA.

Nothing yet via HiSuite or OTA in the UK but not due for EU until tomorrow. Hopefully it'll go live ASAP after that.
I just received an OTA update (51MB), only in one of the two tablet.
I saw the ROM is available also in lolinet TB-J706F_S620150_211226.
It contains:
December 5, 2021 Security update
Cam app version is updated
After downloading update and restarting I saw a notification with Google Play system update, I checked Settings -> Security -> Google Play system update and it said I needed to restart so I restarted.
I had to repeat this three times and finally Google Play system update passed from March 1, 2021 to December 1, 2021.

I noticed with the update the luminosity levels changed.
In the tablet not updated if I set luminosity at minimum it's hardly visible, that's nice if you want to use HDMI output, in the updated tablet it's quite higher.

Ah damn, you are saying with the new update the minimum brightness is higher?
I do want to get that tablet to read in dark environment, so I guess I should stay in stock Android 10 just in case?
The previous version was already Android 11, to be honest I am not sure if I would be able to read with the previous lowest setting.
I'll check tonight how do they feel compared, meanwhile you can see a picture in my second post but it's a bit too exposed, so it's actually darker than that.

Yeah in your pic it's quite easy to see the difference. Have you tried turning the auto bightness on/off or doing a factory reset of the tablet to see if it's still different?
Also can you tell which ROM version the working tablet (the one with lower brightness) is running?
I might get the tablet soon, and since I like very dark display I'd like to avoid the issue you have
I did not try a factory reseet, switched auto brigthness on and off many times.
All with Android 11:
TB-J706F_S620022_210910_ROW Super Dark
TB-J706F_S620108_211124_ROW Did not get this update
TB-J706F_S620150_211226_ROW Less dark
Quite strange I did not get the update on the second tablet yet.

Wow that's super weird
Maybe they are pushing OTA at random to avoid too much bandwidth being used?
But then the new ROM isn't even recent....
I just got the tablet, and now I understand why they increased the minimum brightness, because grays are super nasty, burn in all over the place, like the very early AMOLED screens...
Can I ask you one more thing? (Sorry for all the questions)
Can you check at what level the first tablet is the same as the second one please? (You can see the exact % in the screen settings)
It's around 10% but checking on settings app contrast is much higher in the new version, I'll have to check later using the same image on both.

Thanks! Have you checked the different color modes, to see if they changed something there too?
I checked with Display Tester from PlayStore.
1% of new ROM is same as 12% of old one.
I am using DCI-P3 Standard on both.
Even with same perceived luminosity i like more how it looks in the new ROM but I think it depends from the fact that in the tablet with the old ROM I have a tempered glass over and in the other one nothing.

Thanks again for the testing!
I'm hesitant of updating the firmware as I really like the minimum britghness of the 210910 version, grays are nasty but for night reading it's just perfect.
I will see how 12% + darknening filter software looks compared to real 1%, if the oled screen behaves correctly the difference should be minimal.
After test, it appears 12% + dark screen filter looks exactly the same as real 1%, so at least the tablet's oled screen is behaving correctly on that
But like your second tablet, the update doesn't seems to be pushed on it...
I wonder if there is a region we can set to force it.
Hello,
I just received the P11 pro and before rooting it, I'm wondering if I should update to Android 11?
I know that on Samsung S7+ (I have tried it before) people are not happy with Android 11, more space, slower... Is it really better on Lenovo?
(It offers me TB-J706F_S620150_211226 0043_Q00067_ROW)
@Daxorp I did not notice any performance difference between 10 and 11 but I did not run any benchmark, just casual usage.
One thing to note is that with the version you have in OTA you are updated to December security patches vs what you have now.
@Stremon
I checked one hour ago system update and I got the OTA update also on my second tablet but did not run it yet.

Update 15:18 BST
I've been told that there's some incompatibility issues with the OS which could cause some apps to stop working. They believe at the moment that reinstalling the app will workaround the issue for now
They'll release an updated OS as soon as they can
Update 0926 BST (16/09/22)
Just spoken to the Oppo social rep on messenger and they've informed me that this message really only applies to UK customers.
The team have identified a few minor issues which can cause compatibility issues with some app which they wish to address. In response to this they have withdrawn the update from their side for UK region customers.
Other global customers can proceed with the update as they wish.

Yeah not encountered anything yet all the little annoyances from the beta seem fixed.
Though I still need to do a full wipe on my phone because of going up a major version of Android from 12 to Beta and Beta to Stable
Doesn't sound too critical a problem but hang fire if you can is the advice.

Ah ok nothing major then thankfully.
I'll be Factory Resetting so it should negate this issue anyways as I always manually re-install apps a fresh rather than bring data with them
If I see any issues, I will either factory reset or just try uninstalling and reinstalling the apps that crash!
Hello, I don't know if the same thing happens to someone else, but in the official version the button to activate the automatic brightness has disappeared, in the Beta it was there and now it isn't. The curious thing is that in Android 12 it wasn't there either, it appeared when installing the beta version of android 13.
I don't have the automatic brightness button either.
I guess it's incompatibility with some UK carrier apps or configs then.
I guess this is why I downloaded the 2.6gb update and then it disappeared into the ether when it asked me to install.

The Photos app has been crashing since the 13 update. I've been trying to delete a couple of photos and the app crashes each time, I can't reinstall it, as it's part of the OS. This is actually a major issue for me, it's one of my most-used apps. It might have been nice to get a heads-up not to install the update. Shutting down and restarting do not help.

I know it's a pita but maybe a reset and restore given the Android upgrade.

Only got the device yesterday and upgraded to android 13 factory reset and transferred over. Just checked and can confirm no issues deleting from default gallery here.

I've just stumbled on a fix - I'd tried a forced stop of the gallery app and that did nothing, so I thought I'd try deleting the pix with Google Photos. Same issue, repeatedly crashed. So I tried a forced stop on that app and bingo - THAT worked. Phew. Photos finally deleted and the default app is working normally.
Thanks for your reply.
Let's go March 6 and hopefully everything goes smoothly if not I will ask for help lol
does anyone know if there's anything particularly exciting reported to come with this update?
I know they've been working on a fix for scrolling issues -- I believe the fix has already been included in previous releases, but I may be wrong and it may be still upcoming -- and I know my bluetooth issue connecting to car radio that was broken with the Jan update had been fixed with Febs... but is there anything else reported?

My S23U just got February Play System Update this morning.
Edit : whopps, you are right, they released March security update as well. Samsung is really faster than google now
I find it weird that android doesn't really get good feature updates anymore... Just the annual overhaul.
There's no x.1 with cool new features and .x3 after 6 months with a new look and feel etc ... iOS still gets that but it seems to be gone with Android and it just seems to be security updates and bug fixes monthly until the next big version.
That said, OEMs with their skins and mods seem to add x.x updates themselves on their own hardware that runs android.
Has Android ever gotten major additional features between version updates? There have been some exceptions but it's pretty much always been a gradual stability improvement of the features on the monthly updates then new features added on the new letter update. Rinse and repeat.
I do find it amusing that Samsung have released this month earlier than Google. Back when I started using Samsung phones it would invariably be months before Samsung would catch up.
Security updates in a timely mannor are good, but as long as it is stable, that's what counts for me.

That's boring. So this won't include the list of big fixes, right? That'll be somewhere else? I'm hoping the change log with all the "boring" stuff includes lots of bug fixes. I don't personally have any other than every once in awhile a line flash across the width of the screen about ⅓ of the way down. Good indicated other screen and GPU issues were going to be fixed, and I'm hoping my issue is something covered in that umbrella. Other than that and missing the November update battery life I love this phone.
I don't see any real difference tbh
I got the ability for 2 ESIMs now

That feature drop has nothing to do with the Pixel 7 series, lol.

@EtherealRemnant -- I know you had been interested in dual esim from before and had been frustrated that it hadn't been truly working for P7P up til now...would you still be interested in it or have you gotten it working?
I remember reading an article a couple weeks back talking about how it will be coming (probably feature drop), so it's nice to confirm that it's here now...
Anyone have better battery life with the march update? I noticed nothing different at all.
