I search for the latest version and flashed it successfully. As you can see, there should be a "Expert RAW" mode under "More" in the cam settings. But I dont have it... or am I to stupid?

i know that we can save pictures as RAW. But they say: "access from the more menu in camera". That means for me that there should be an option called "Expert RAW"
There is a separate"Expert Raw" application in the S22u. There is no expert raw mode in the camera app.

Yes, there is an "Expert RAW" mode in the camera app. All it does is bring up Expert RAW if you have it installed. If you don't have it install, it will ask if you want to install it.
You are right it's there. I didn't know but I only today received the One UI 5.1 update and didn't go through all the new features yet
Many thanks.

What do you mean by, "50Mpx Expert RAW"?
We can only shot 12Mpx with Expert Raw in RAW...
With the S23U it can shot in 50Mpx in RAW.
What wasn't clear about my question ?
In the Samsung 5.1 One UI update, if you have installed Expert Raw, it will show in the more section of the camera app. Also you can simply launched with its app shortcut.

There is no 50MP RAW mode on the S22 Ultra it is an S23 Ultra only feature. I doubt Samsung is going to update it. Besides a 50MP RAW file would be huge (around 50 MBish).

I know that too. Like I said, it will be up to Samsung to tweak it. It will not happen anytime soon. Samsung won't want to cut into S23 Ultra sales.
50mp mode of 23 ultra is probably because of pixel binning 4 to 1 (200mp to 50mp) the s22 ultra doesnt use 4 to 1 , it use 9 to 1. Even if it used 4 to 1 it would be 27mp (108mp to 27mp ).

Thanks for testing the gcam out.
If you get chance, please could you post a comparison of the main cam with and without gcam in the daylight? Especially with something moving in the scene would be great.
How do you feel the video quality is? All the YouTube examples I've seen look poor. Is it better with gcam?
Last question, how quickly does it take the pic? I know some report a sluggish response

Guys join Oneplus 7 Gcam telegram and use the Gcam available there. They have a bunch of settings(XML) and different gcam versions.
Dev has added support for ultra wide and telephoto lens but for rooted op7 pro users only.
The support is really great.
It's working really good oppo reno 10x.

Not yet, couldn't find any post related to this problem. If I find something I'll post it in the future.
I would recommend maybe downloading gcam, in some cases it's better than the stock camera app, users can confirm. I personally just stick with the stock images from the in-built camera app and edit my photos.
Edit: The app I'm using is snapseed. Works pretty good. Just use the curve editor and slide it up on red color.

Not at all, just take a picture of whatever you want, in Snapseed open that photo, on the middle it should be an option called Tools, click on that, on the first row there's an option called curves. After that you adjust it to your likes. It varies from the photo and your personal preference.
Attached are some photos that maybe can be helpful.
Edit: Sorry for the late reply, I work 10 to 12 hour shifts, but I try to reply as soon as possible.

Hi all,
2 days ago I received the S22 Ultra, migrating from the Note10+.
I noticed that the camera settings is missing the HDR option in the camera settings. It was available in the Note10+, but no longer in the S22 Ultra. In Android 11, the camera showed 'HDR' in the camera preview when HDR was enabled. In Android 12 I don't see this anymore on either the Note10+ or the S22 Ultra.
Just to be sure, does the rear camera automatically switch on HDR, or does it not support HDR for photos anymore?

Yes, there was already an update available on the day it got delivered (Feb. 26.). I did move everything from my old phone first though before updating. I did not check the HDR setting before updating though. I did notice the DNS .local problem being introduced by this patch (another post I made earlier today). The camera version on my old Note10+ is 12.0.01.17 and the version on my S22Ultra is 12.0.01.47, so it is indeed a newer version.

As said by @Jairus24 there was announcement (I did not know about this until now), so the update removed the Auto HDR, I guess it will just do it on its own.
Mine is still on version 12.0.01.32 and still has the Auto HDR option:
The post from @Jairus24 crossed mine, but I think this is indeed the case, I received the March 1. update. I searched around for it, but got stuck in too many hits on Google trying to find this. Thanks for pointing it out!
Mine is 12.0.01.46 version and not HDR option !
AutoHDR is slid "on" in mine, and have all options available.
I'm using SM-S908W received February 18th, and no system or software/app updates that I can see (just Samsung Pay and a couple other pre-installed Samsung apps I don't really use).
Camera version 12.0.01.32
On Telus (Canadian carrier) updates seem to always be a month behind everyone, and updates are set automatic daily checking/download.
Does this mean HDR will be on always, or is HDR being implemented "automatically" (how the heck does it do this anyway, night shots are always garbage when I'm in auto).
12.0.01.46 not showing auto hdr
Portugal
I don't know what they did with the main camera, but in a lot of cases compared to the Note 8 in terms of HDR and even the details they took a step back. I hope the software will fix this in the future. I am very disappointed
I am on 12.0.01.50 no HDR
It appears HDR was removed with the last "update" in the US. They also changed the way WiFi is configured.
As per the reply from @Jairus24 , with an up0date making changes to camera -
The Auto HDR menu has been simplified to always provide optimal image quality regardless of the shooting environment. The ‘Auto HDR’ menu in the camera settings will be deleted after the update. If you do not want HDR shooting, you can shoot in Pro mode or turn off ‘Auto HDR’ in Expert RAW to take the desired picture.
Improved usability by adding an option to keep the used camera in portrait mode. Go to ‘Keep Settings’ in the camera settings and check the ‘Portrait Mode Lens’ item.
The shooting time in Night Mode has been increased to 30 seconds to take brighter pictures when shooting in very dark environments with the ultra-wide-angle camera fixed on a tripod.
In addition, we have made additional optimizations so that you can use the camera more comfortably, so please try it by downloading the update
Hello
Here a new GCAM version with pixel binning
Shamim: GCAM_8.4.400.42.XX_SHAMIM_V21
Download GCAM_8.4.400.42.XX_SHAMIM_V21 by Shamim.
www.celsoazevedo.com
Gcam SHAMIM
In this version, you will have several shooting modes, including one with Pixel Binning, to be able to do crops, or cuts without losing an iota of quality!
My first xml for this new Gcam is attached
THIS XML GOES IN THE "GCAM/CONFIGS8.4" DIRECTORY
In this version, you will be able to find a very high definition, thanks to the implementation of Pixel Binning to be able to make crops, without losing absolutely any quality!
This xml also has several types of shooting modes:
: In this shot, the sharpness is increased by 1.50 more than the normal shot, for shots where you need an extra definition!
: Macro mode, worked for this 2Mp sensor.
: Main mode, shot with real quality and color representation, with very good definition.
: Ultrawide mode, also worked great
: Shot prepared for when there is little light.
To the left of the viewfinder you will also find some modes to combine the types of shooting:
LDR: Low dynamic range shooting.
SHADE: Adds a vignette effect to the shot.
HiRes: I love this mode Here you have Pixel Binning, activated on all lenses.
In this mode, you can take full advantage of your optics.
When shooting with the Main lens, you will take photos in 105Mp.
In macro, 14.5Mp.
In selfie, 71.9Mp.
In Ultrawide, 60.4Mp.
This mode is absolutely compatible and combinable WITH ALL SHOOTING MODES AND STYLES!
This is not pixel binning. The camera scales the images up. He adds pixels to it.
upscaling is this.

Found it, thank you!
If you want Gcam which can perform pixel binning on Main camera to 12MP, try LMC gcam. I'll add my config here (Copy it to Internal Storage/LMC8.4/ ).

Will try this too, thanks!
How is this camera's performance after Gcam? I'm tossing up getting a Poco X4 Pro 5G. Also quite surprised it can't do 4K video, is anyone able to explain why this is? I've had 4K video on my super old Galaxy Note 3, not sure why a new 2022 phone can't handle it... artificial limitation perhaps?

I think it is the chipset limitation.
Hi All,
The camera app is lackluster in terms of manual control.
Is there way to unlock some pro mode or alternate app for that?
Great question! I hope there is, but I'm assuming we'd have to go third-party app for that.
[edit] According to this vid (for the Pixel 6) the only two settings you can enable are "exposure" and "white balance" (which were already 'on' on my P7P.)
Hopefully someone releases gcam for the Pixel7Pro lol
this camera app is Very basic
I would also like to see a decent GCam setup/config file.
Running Graphene the cam provided is lackluster and installing google camera is a tad better but feel it is not quite working as intended. Heck of a lot better however the macro seems a tad grainy at times.

MGC Gcam works great on the 7P, its V8.6, but im sure the current version, 8.7, should be released soon
BSG: MGC_8.6.263_A11_V9

Thanks mate.. The config made the difference as the app by itself wouldn't actually take a photo. Thanks man!

Sorry for the question, but what is the difference from this Gcam an the default one of the p7p? I have installed and I don't see any manual control or something different from the stock Gcam
yes, but the one I tried keeps crashing. Which one do you use?

Those are only for video recording, not photography. (Own both apps since years)
In order to stop BSG GCam (8.6 builds) from crashing, all you need to do is pick Pixel 6 Pro as the interface model in settings. I know it doesn't make sense, but if you choose P7P interface it'll crash, so just use P6P and enjoy.

Not sure if I am doing something wrong but:
1. I installed MGC_8.6.263_A11_V9_ENG.apk (com.google.android.GoogleCameraEng) as suggested in Post 5 by K1nsey6. Camera installs but shows a black screen.
2. Then I download the Pixel 7 Pro config as suggested in Post 9 above by K1nsey6. I imported the config from within Camera app but it still shows a black screen and crashes.
3. I then changed the phone model to Pixel 6 Pro as suggested by jericho246 in Post 15. Still no joy - black screen and crashes right after I tap to Video.
4. Also enabled Additional Settings in Modules. Still no joy - a black screen in all modes and crashes.
Tried to select other profiles available in the Config - all are crashing.
Tried to clear cache but no joy.
All in all, the camera is not working.
Am I doing something wrong?
Is there any option to force portrait mode not to zoom by default in GCAM?
i dont see any difference in this with the config and the normal gcam app quality wise.
*apart from the photos beeing as twice as big in filesize*
just me?
latest 8.6 v10 from BSG with the xml posted above works great so far on my P7P.
Coming from a P6P with MWP gcam I was really disappointed by the stock Google camera processing on my P7P.
Thanks for posting this xml!
