Question No Update Option Miui 13 EU Stable - Xiaomi 12S Ultra

I just bought 12s Ultra, but my seller already installed MIUI 13 stable EU.
1. I want to update to MIUI 14, but i dont want to risk anything, since i have no warranty. Why can't i see upgrade options like : "Download update package" or "update settings".
2. If i download latest MIUI 14 EU rom from miui eu site, then "choose update package" , will it just work, or i need to upgrade twrp, or do something more?
3. I live in Turkey, but i can do just fine with official China rom. I just need Android Auto and Garmin Watch app sync. Do these work with the latest official Chinese rom? I'd like to have OTA updates installed automatically. I don't want to upgrade with dirty way, an error can cost me too much.

Update the TWRP(A12) if necessary, download the update via OTA then follow the instructions of the OTA.
To be sure, post a screenshot like this.
Spoiler: ROM

I used to fastboot updates with pc, i don't want to spend my time with those.
This device will get frequently updates from xiaomi, and i'd like to use that advantage. Which way should i go?
Install original chinese rom for ota updates?
I don't want to set everything again and again after each upgrade, for this i need ota updates i guess.

Check or install this TWRP twrp-3.7.0_12-v7.2_A12-thor-skkk.img.
Then download the rom(xiaomi.eu_multi_THOR_V14.0.5.0.TLACNXM_v14-13) via ota and update via OTA and TWRP.
Used a Weekly for regular updates.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/xiaomi-eu-multilang-miui-roms/files/xiaomi.eu/
EDIT:
Once installed the A13 rom, update the TWRP (A12->A13).

Thanks a lot.
So after i do these, i will get OTA updates occasionally automatically right? I used to install roms from pc on my old devices, but takes too much time researching what to do.

Yep, you will get a notification and need to use OTA.
Before performing the update, I advise you to remove the security from the lock screen and restart and then perform the update.
In this way the installation will be done directly and in case of problem your data will be recoverable since decrypted.

I checked my installed recovery :
3.6.2_12-Xiaomi12SUltra_v5.6_A12
So without pc method :
I go to recovery, backup recovery, download your link 3.7x version, install recovery, reboot recovery, reboot system. And then install rom same way right.
I checked oem unluck and debugging ON, in case something goes wrong.
Searched a lot, haven't found a proper guide updating recovery sorry.

Thanks i just upgraded to miui 14 with your guide.
But after install finished unzipping messages, i got lots of failed notifications in twrp saying failed to install . And it ended saying : "no os is installed. Restart anyway?"
I was very scared that i bricked the device. After 2 minutes it just started. Seems working now.
What were those errors?

FEATURES

DOWNLOAD
(Some users had problems unzipping this ZIP with WinRAR, consider using free alternatives such as 7-zip)
MAIN URL: Click here to download (Please use this download, but if in any case you can't extract, you may use the mirror I provided.)
MIRROR: Click here to download.
HOW-TO
1. Enable Developer Options (Tap MIUI version 7 times in About Phone), and then in Developer Options, enable USB debugging.
2. Have you downloaded the ZIP? No? Download it, now.
3. Extract the downloaded ZIP wherever you like, keep in mind that all files must be kept together.
4. Connect your phone to the PC.
5. Run the Start.bat file.
ATTENTION: Please do a ROOT (I'll assume you're still in MIUI) before you flash TWRP, or you may be brought back into stock recovery. (Thanks to @omerjerk for testing this)
---
UPDATE: This toolkit's TWRP is deprecated (download the newest version here), but if you don't want to hassle with downloading another fastboot driver, you can still download dh.harald's recovery .img file, and copy your downloaded recovery to the extracted toolkit folder, then change dh.harald's recovery filename into twrp.img (UNTESTED)
I'll repack this toolkit with dh.harald's newest TWRP whenever possible.

This toolkit is made by magdag, all credits goes to him.

I can't speak for magdag, the dev. So, this is literally the version that is usable for flashing TWRP.
I don't expect any official support for TWRP. And I prefer CWM, if there's one.

Backup everything (all partitions) except the first in the list.
You may want to use the compression.
The backup should be somewhere between 3.5GB and 5.5GB depending on the options and the data.
You could install ROM Manager (from Koushik Dutta) from the Play Store.
Choose the TWRP as recovery and Unknown Device as device.
Then you can use this to backup with TWRP and it will choose the right options for you.

Just Google it. Seriously. Or go to MIUI Forums and see the options you got there, there should be plenty of MIUI Fastboot ROM since 6.5.6

Both root and twrp
I've MiUi 6.6.10 on my device.
I used this toolkit to flash twrp but I'm not able to do so.
Whenever I select the 2 option, it flashes the recovery successfully. But, when I boot to recovery again using adb reboot recovery, I get the stock recovery and not twrp.
What I'm doing wrong ?
P.S. I haven't rooted the phone yet.

OTA Updates with Rooted Phone

Hey guys! I haven't been in the rooting community for a while and when I was my phone was end of life. How can I accept an OTA while being rooted?
I assume I will have to unroot through SuperSU, update like normal, then re-root with the latest SuperSU. Is that correct? I saw some using FlashFire, but I am kind of uneasy about an automated app rooting my device.
Some additional info:
Phone on Feb security update
Phone rooted with latest SuperSU
I did not install custom recovery, only booted it to flash SuperSU
I don't want to lose any data on my phone
Thanks in advance guys! Hopefully with your help I can get this bad boy updated!
Bump?
No one can help me?
Google android factory OTA. That will get you to Google's full ota which you will need to sideload with adb. Full instructions are on the page with the download. And probably a dozen how to's posted here in the last couple of days.
What I did i downloaded from herehttps://developers.google.com/android/images#sailfish unzipped the file edited the batch took the -w out saved the file and ran the Bach file re installed twrp and root should not loose anything but its a possibility this link will you better directions its what I used https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71321307&postcount=31
It's a bit more involved, but I always download the latest factory image, edit the batch file to remove the "-w" which doesn't wipe it. Then I boot back into TWRP and install the TWRP zip (not necessary if you don't want to keep it), then install SuperSU zip.
Here's the easiest method in my opinion (No PC required). This method requires TWRP recovery.
With TWRP already installed, download the next "Sailfish" OTA from here - https://developers.google.com/android/ota. Notice I said "next", not latest. If you're several OTA's behind you'll want to download all of the updates to bring you current. For example, I started yesterday on NMF26V and these are all of the files I downloaded.

You'll also need the latest TWRP, SuperSu, and any mods you plan to install. Now we're ready to start.
Boot to TWRP and install the "Next" OTA file. No need to do any wipes, just simply flash it. When it completes, immediately flash TWRP installer, then reboot.
Now reboot back to TWRP, flash the next OTA, immediately flash TWRP again, and reboot. Continue this until you're on the latest update.
Now simply boot back to TWRP and flash SuperSu. I also installed Elemental (after an additional reboot for good measure) as I like the swipe to sleep function.

What's the reasoning behind having to do each OTA in order?

You're welcome to try going straight to the latest OTA but it's my understanding that each one only contains the updates from that specific release. If it fails you could always modify the flashall.bat file of a full restore image and flash it with your computer. Then boot TWRP with fastboot, flash TWRP from the booted TWRP, and install SuperSu.
Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
Okay. Also in this method you don't have to modify any file to get rid of the "-w" so it won't wipe data? If I do what you did all my files and apps should still be there when I reach the last OTA.
Sorry iphone convert so i'm new to this.

Nope. Nothing to modify as long as you download the OTA files from the link I posted and not the full image files from a different section. The image files are the ones that have the flashall.bat file that have to be modified before flashing. There's nothing to modify in the OTA's. That's another reason I like my method as I have 78GB or pics/videos/music that I'd hate to lose.

For the April OTA update I was able to install the file that came to the phone using FlashFire. Trying to uninstall SuperSU and then take the OTA on the phone hadn't worked the previous two times I had tried it. When I tried the March OTA update on the phone with FlashFire it also didn't work, so I'm not clear if the latest FlashFire update was why the April OTA on the phone worked without issue. I thought maybe I needed to use the restore option in FlashFire to get it to work, but on the April OTA it turned out that I didn't need to use any of FlashFire's restore options like I had been planning on trying. For the April OTA to the phone, using FlashFire ended up being quicker and simpler than the previous manual process I had been doing to install the files Google posts online and then root the phone again. Since I'm using SuperSU to root the phone, I'll keep using FlashFire to update if it keeps working like it did this month.
Yeah OTA updates are patches not full OS files so must be done in order.
Using flashall with -w removed is the cleanest method as it rewrites all system files.
Personally I'm not a fan of patching the OS.

Works great, was a fun night of figuring this out together glad it worked out! Everything is functioning properly!
Just remember when you first load into TWRP you will need to go to wipe > format data and type yes.
This will erase all data so be sure to backup all your personal files to your SD card using the phone before you format. Then proceed to use the above instructions!
I got it flashed successfully and can get to it but it's asking for a decrypt password. I never set one up, so I'm not sure what to do. I still tried to format but it gives an error about inability to mount.
Edit - even with the error, it still has me set up Android again but it still wants a decrypt password and I can't mount.

ah ok. Thanks for letting me know
Its normal. look at the other threads for twrp they always say to format the data after a reboot. Maybe add it to your tutorial thingy.
Edit: Thanks a lot guys its a lot more fun with root and TWRP. (>^.^)>

This is twrp version 3.2.1-0 and has finally been ported to the LG Aristo 2!
To flash:
1. Make sure your bootloader is unlocked
2. Download twrp.img from below
3. Boot phone into fastboot mode using "adb reboot bootloader" without quotations
4. Flash using "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" without quotations
5. Once it is done, disconnect the phone and reboot into recovery
6. Wipe /data and /cache
7. Flash no verity zip from https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/ (Get latest version)
8. Flash magisk zip from https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445

Thank you for this! Once my sata cables come in the mail and I get my Windows copy up and running on my second hard drive I need to create an ISO .img from the KDZ file you gave me. Need to get my phone back to stock, and im thankful you guys got TWRP working on this great phone.
Create a IMG from kdz? Don't you just use the kdz in lg up or something to reflash?

That sounds like allot less pain in the ass. Can you give me a quick breakdown of how to reset into stock using the KDZ. Dont need go type paragraps or anything just a brief summary this is all new to me.
Heres a tutorial. Its made for the aristo 1 but im sure it should work with the aristo 2. Use the lg up program.here
Just make sure to use the kdz made for the aristo 2 that you already have.
Forgot you may need uppercut aswell. here sometimes it gives a error which uppercut fixes.
Has anyone tried any other cameras with this phone? I was thinking of trying to flash CameraNext or SnapDragon but I've never tried either on a stock rom, so I'm not sure whether I'd bootloop.

I am trying to find good camera apps for this phone because the stock one is not that good. I will try those two that you have just posted.

I've tried finding other LG camera apps but none would work. Let me know how CameraNext works (if it does).
OpenCamera is giving me terrible quality.
Bacon Camera seems ok.
Google Camera is ok, but limited.
That's all I've tried. I know this camera should be capable of some good pictures.
Edit - I found an APK only install for CameraNextMod v10. This might be the best we can get with this camera unless the zip versions are compatible. Here's a link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aLdiT1B2TcDFL0vfcmwYz6L7EdxqgFKj/view?usp=sharing

So, I just went back into TWRP for the first time since and it's still asking for a password to decrypt. I don't want to wipe everything again. Any ideas? Nothing is mounted and I can't mount without the password.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite got messed up
Hi there!
I have just received my new Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite phone and wanted to pass all of my data from my old phone to it in a way that it was required to be rooted.
KingRoot didn't work on this new phone, so I unlocked bootloader and tried to install TWRP recovery on my phone.
Installing to the recovery partition did not work. I searched the error it gave me and found a thread saying that flashing it to the boot partition worked for them. So I did. Next thing that happened is that my phone did not boot into the OS (operating system) ever again. It only booted TWRP.
I have since been able to remove TWRP (though I made a back up of it) but the phone still stays on just the loading part before going to the OS.
I have since been able to get back the fastboot and stock recovery, but the phone will not start into the OS anymore.
How can I fix this?
I have been searching for ways to restore my android to the 8.1 Oreo version that it was.
Can I do it with this Tool All In One? Please help! Thank you in advance!! Much appreciated!!
hello
i have unlocked bootloader and wait for TWRP and want to root my phone.
Can I flash TWRP and root with this tool easy? And will I lost all data if do that?

I would suggest using the root method mentioned here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/guide-install-magisk-proper-support-ota-t3836952
Twrp does not have good results for most people.
With this method I will lost all data on my phone and I do not want to setup phone 1 more time. Twice was just enough
I know that already but thank you anyway

If your bootloader is unlocked, you should not lose any data just installing magisk
Yes...my fault. My BL is unlocked already.
But I posted in that thread...because of some reason does not work. But this is not thread about it
Thanks for help
So...Installed TWRP but does not recognize anything in internal storage. Not recognize SD card.
When boot again to TWRP goes to "something"...some kind of empty stock recovery with android logo and nothing more.
Oh man...that will be interesting ride...to put TWRP or root device

Because your not supposed to install the twrp image just boot from it and if you do install it then you have to flash the original boot image for which ever 8.1 update your on to get rid of it.
This is explained on the team win page for daisy wish i had read that first after re flashing my os twice and boot image once trying to install this am just using the phone as is for now until i get the urge to try again

oops sorry i should check what thread this is before trying to answer a question i blame alcohol .
Thing is there are posts out on the net that advices people with the a2 lite to install the twrp image to their inactive slot and not to just boot it and that's where things seem to start going wrong.
This has absolutely nothing to do with this tool and sorry i just dived in here and confused people.
maybe some kind passing mod will get rid of the post apologies again

Tested Working on A750F, A750FN, A750G and A750GN - 22/03/20
This Guide is outdated now..
It "ONLY" works on the initial One UI 2 update that started rolling out in March 2020
It has issues on the june patch. So "DO NOT" report bugs if you are on the june patch.
Use this at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage that may happen to your device.
Make sure to have the official firmware downloaded for your device in case anything goes wrong.
This will void your warranty
This will also trip the knox counter.
Installation Guide
1. Unlock The bootloader
2. Boot into download mode
3. Using Odin, Flash Magisk_patched_boot.tar in the "AP" Slot.
4. Reboot download and flash Twrp recovery using odin in AP slot.
5. Reboot to TWRP and "FORMAT" , not wipe the data.
6. Flash Magisk-v20.3.zip
7. Reboot to download and flash Officialrecovery.tar in "AP" slot.
8. Reboot your device.

Notes:
1. Only Magisk v20.3 is tested, other versions may/may not work. Report if other versionswork, I will update OP.
2.This "WILL NOT" install Twrp on your device as Twrp is not updated and it will cause bootloops.
3. Failing to follow and steps mentioned above, you will end up in a bootloop.

This happens when you don't flash magisk zip file, did u flash that after installing twrp? And after that did u install stock recovery? Try this, if it does not work, start from scratch again.

I guess I'll be staying at Android Pie for now. I think I'll be waiting for other alternatives that doesn't boot into download mode when restarted. Somehow, I thank you for sharing info on how to root Samsung Galaxy A7 2018.
