You can rename the zip as you want, it won't change anything, the information is in the zip.
You can unlock the bootloader and relock it later.

Precisely, OTA allows to update with a recovery rom, not to downgrade.
You want to brick your phone, do it, then you will have to pay to recover the phone since the bootloader is locked.

No need to post You tube videos showing that everything is possible and easily circumvented.
I know many who regret having used You tube tutorials before asking the questions on XDA.
The safest way is to unlock the bootloader.
Please note that on the video at 7 minutes 36 we see the poco padlock which is open, which means that the bootloader is unlocked.

Nope or maybe on YouTube.
I recommend these roms, better than stocks (call recorder, full themes, etc).

If you choose to stick with a stock rom, use: And take a global.

Hi, I decided to unlock my BL and willing to wait for 7 days. I just want to ask is it ok to use my current Mi account and cellphone number when unlocking my bootloader? Because, I think, I already used this account before when I unlock my Poco F1 few years ago.

As you know finally there is the MSM Tool for converting your T-Mobile branded OP7 Pro to international.
I have fully converted, downloaded the Android Q Developer preview and tried installing it via Local Upgrade has instructions said with no luck.
1. The .Zip file is in the root directory
2. The extension is .Zip and not .Jar
3. Local upgrade recognizes the .zip file but fails to install
Anybody has tried yet? This is what I get.

Have you tried flashing in TWRP?
Honestly I wouldn't even flash it unless you are aware of the bugs and anything bad you may experience along the way.
I wish you luck.

Yeah you need to unlock bootloader.
The page should have mentioned that as a requirement to flash betas.
Hopefully soon it will become better. But do let me know how it is . I'm pretty sure no one has actually flashed it and reported how the experience was.

I just realized that when I boot up the phone, it shows the "Redmi by Xiaomi" and below it says unlocked, (IDK if it has any relation). But the Developer options say that BL is locked and OEM Unlocking can be enabled. What does this mean?

Well that's cos at one point you had unlocked your bootloader and might have dirty flashed MIUI or used fastboot images, which aren't able to recognise the state. But in reality it remains unlocked and it just shows locked in the settings.

Woah. Unauthorised seller eh. Are you sure you are running the Orginal MIUI? The reason Xioami started locking away the bootloader was cos of these unauthorised sellers, unlocking the device and flashing it with an outdated ROM. You should try, Go to Developer settings, link your current Mi account and then proceed to unlock. Or if it says an acc is already linked, lock the bootloader (only if on MIUI Stock, Custom ROM would lead to a bootloop), and now go link your account. (Do take backups before proceeding)

Well, I did flash the latest MIUI Indian Global ROM a few weeks back so maybe I am running Original MIUI?
But I'm still gonna try to "unlock" it. And is there an option to keep all data after the unlock?
EDIT: I just read the Mi Unlock Tool's disclaimer and how they say some features won't work after the unlock. I mean, I know mine is unlocked but I think I'll just keep those features.

Usually the first time you unlock it wipes your internal storage , but it doesn't wipe it in the subsequent unlocks (as far as I've tried). Yep it doesn't actually affect any system functions.. everything is as smooth as before..Find my device works fine as well..the only risk is that if your device gets stolen they could easily wipe MIUI and bypass that account lock by flashing a custom ROM.
Hi experts,
Anybody care to share proven method to unlock and root? I have done some googling and found there were slight difference in rooting method especially. Currently waiting for my unlocking timer to expire and hope to get good and proven method. I saw some recommended flashing verify and vbmeta.img? This is new to me as I did not do this for my Mi6. My understanding is that, flash TWRP then place Magisk.zip and flash using TWRP and that's it.

If you just want root you don't need TWRP, just an unlocked bootloader. Patch the stock boot.img with Magisk Manager, transfer it to your computer and fastboot flash the patched boot image.

Well, you don't have to postpone it. You can just delay unlocking your phone. Unlocking phone will wipe the phone so always take backup. Once your unlock is approved, you can do it anytime using your mi unlock tool.

Yeah, there had been several threads discussing it and it seems to be a common thing for Xiaomi devices. Just want to ask if you have encountered an error about the sim not being activated or similar to it? I figured this could be the culprit behind the error.

If you downgrade you need to disable updates, OTA updates could brick the device.

Yeah, I've heard this is risky, but I'm willing to take the risk because Android 11 ruined my phone and basically added 3 or 4 years to the battery of a phone that I only had for 7 months and was working great before this crap.
And once again, Thanks for this help. I appreciate it very much, even if it doesn't work.
And I had a question before I proceeded. There was an update that came along with Android 11 from Motorola on that same day. The update basically changed my look screen, peek display. Doing all this should get rid of that too and make everything look how it did before the update?

Ok, thanks. So I basically have everything I need, right? One more question. What will happen to my phone number? Will I have to get a new one and etc, or will I still be able to keep my current number after all this?

Not yet, I'm sorry. I'm still reading over the info and trying to put everything in order. So unlocking the bootloader is the first step? And is it ok if I use the method on this site?

Doesn't matter, I would remove the sim card, but that shouldn't matter either.

What about the ADB tool?
Where it says " We recommend not to use the 15 seconds Adb installer on new devices". Like, is my phone considered a newer device lol? I don't really know. Should I go ahead and use the latest version anyway?
So long story short
I purchased the tencent version from a reseller, that had unlocked the bootloader and flashed the WW firmware, changed the FP & then relocked it.
Now I'm f##### and don't know what to do.
Can anyone please assist me with any information in regards to "how to unlock without the unlock tool"
Or, direct me to someone/website that I can pay to have it done.
Muchly appreciated

who is he? can he help me?
The rumor is that once the bootloader is unlocked and locked again, it can no longer be unlocked a second time. It may work to flash a new bootloader (which is what the EDL restore does as part of the process).
I would suggest taking a look into https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/repair-your-asus-rog-phone-5-with-edl-mode.4271121/ but know that the directions are pretty rough. Make sure to read everything twice before clicking buttons and if you watch the video, make sure to wait until he moves to the next step before following along because it looks like the video was his first time doing it.

You need to use "SM8350" firehose for my share files. Then hopefully it will work.

I don't think he does. Meanwhile I was searching the net desperately & stumbled upon some clues. Try searching hydra tools & ROG 5.

Question concerning the above.
I unlocked BL, flashed Magisk, but now, without any action from my side I see "unlock OEM" option is not greyed as it was during unlocking BL.
Does it mean it locked itself?
Mentioned rumor I hear first time, but it is good anyway that I've read it early enough, before playing too far with my smartphone.
