[TWRP][Unofficial] TWRP for Samsung Galaxy A90 5G [A908B/N/O] - Samsung Galaxy A90 5G ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, &

I've decided to release my compiled build (early, little or lotta' buggy perhaps) of the Teamwin Recovery Project for the Samsung Galaxy A90 5G, build from source.
As always, flashing unsigned firmware(including this one) will permanently destroy KNOX, and irreversibly set the KNOX bit to 0x1.
(Let me know if the statement above is incorrect, but yeah, this will destroy
Currently, it is built on the 9.0 manifest targeting the A908BXXU5EVK3
So, aside from that, I'm unsure what it is completely compatible for, therefore, I would like to disclaim, that I cannot guarantee success nor the quality of the build that I have on my device, to reflect the same upon your device, and that if you decide to flash this, you are responsible for any potential damage that could theoretically be caused, you have been warned.
It works, Boots to recovery, and boots to system, and a magisk installed system, on my device, Android 12, A908BXXU5EVK3, A908B.
Installation:
Tap 'Build Number' several times to enable Developer Options.
Exit both 'About Phone' and 'Software Information' Page until you are on the primary settings page.
'Developer Options' should now be available, enter this, and enable Developer Options if it is disabled.
Enable OEM Unlock.
Reboot to Download Mode
Power off the device, Hold both Volume up and down, insert data cable while holding volumes.
Long hold volume up for several seconds to be prompted if you wish to unlock the bootloader, confirm this. Do note that confirming the bootloader unlock will format your devices data, if you have any important files you wish to retain, return to system, transfer your files to another device beforehand.
If it is already unlocked, you do not need to do this step, as you will instead be prompted to lock the bootloader, deny this.
Acquire the TWRP tar file present through the link in this thread.
Acquire both the multidisabler(if required) and vbmeta.tar from Corsicanu downloads, and acquire an Odin executable.
Launch Odin, and insert vbmeta.tar in userdata, and the twrp tar file in AP.
Connect the Samsung A90 5G to the PC in 'Download Mode', flash.
The Device will automatically reboot after flash by default, during the reboot, Hold Volume up and down, while USB is connected.
Allow Modifications, Format Data, confirm by typing 'yes'; reboot to recovery.
Install Magisk(Optional), install multidisabler.
Reboot to system.
Currently, everything but MTP(Needs a kernel fix), and Decryption appears to work(As I'm also sure this may be a TWRP12 branch thing too); so you will need to sideload any zips, or utilise OTG Storage or SD.
All three have been tested, and provide some means to transfer files into the TWRP environment.
It may not be optimised, and may have slight issues, such as what's explained, and perhaps mounts that shouldn't be there, and mounts that aren't but should.
Download and test, at your own discretion. If you are unsure about installing this; you are not obliged to do so.
Download [TWRP A908B R3QXX]
This TWRP image is not patched with Magisk
Note: To the best of my knowledge; at least two Korean recipients have accessed the file; I have yet to hear anything from other regional models.
So my presumption would be that; perhaps it works, as success would normally yield lack of a follow-up than failure would.
But still, take caution until or unless it has been verified, flashing is still your own risk.

What appears to work. Or not work in my perspective;
Anything that has a tick. To some degree works, despite that it may require a Touch of optimisation, such as the clock.
For now, there is no further plan to assertively aim on improving this, right now.

You're welcome.
I wanted TWRP for my device and realised the best bet would be to sit down at my machine for a couple of days.
If you wouldn't mind, what region is your A90.
A908B/N/O?
If anything other than B. I can assume it would be sufficient for all three and can remove any safety measures in the next one.
That also, I'll let you know if and or when I fix MTP.
Note that ADB, sideload, SD and OTG work, just not MTP.
I would also invite that if any experienced TWRP builder/Kernel Compiler can fix MTP, they can of course apply for its official maintainership, and I could test it; if they don't own the r3q.
I've just been getting to the point of vmlinux build errors in mine, to date.
Once again, Jerico, you're welcome!

I'm using A908N. and Thank you so much!

Perfect, does it work correctly for you, booting etc? minus MTP, I am aware that has an issue, and I'm looking to get that resolved. I'll respond back here when it does.
As said, other means of transferring files are present;
ADB Sideload, OTG and SD; these should provide you means to flash and transfer to and from TWRP.
Glad to see another international device, if it works I'll update my thread to reflect regarding int devices.
Enjoy.
If there's any issues, feel free to post them.

I'm backing up my data.
I'll try it tomorrow in south korean time
I really wanted to root my device!

It's very nice!!! Thanks very much!
It boots only twrp.
How can I boot in my android?

I'll be using google translate.
You can only boot to TWRP and not to system?
What have you flashed?
Edit: Sorry, was meant to reply to your latest comment.

I didn't do the initial setup after unlocking the bootloader.
There is nothing else special.

and 5-1 is not correct. it can't unlock the bootloader.
it goes to download mode without bootloader notification.

After flashing TWRP, essentially you'd format data, reboot to recovery, flash Magisk if you want it, and flash multidisabler, then you can boot to system.

Got an image of it? I have a thought on it.
----
그것의 이미지가 있습니까? 나는 그것에 대해 생각이 있습니다.

Ohh, I get what you mean. My apologies, 5-2 should be correct, and 5-1 would be an oversight on my part.
Takes you directly to, and skips it. Right?
I can't believe I missed that, normally, when I guide people on unlocking, I actually had in the past reminded people that it skips it.
So, surprisingly, I fell back on my own advice. I'll update the thread to reflect on that.

Oh yeah, I got you.
The suggestion I made takes you to Download Mode, bypassing the page to unlock the bootloader, an error on my part; guide has been changed, and now only advises to use the combination, to boot to the unlock page.
Thank you for that.

ofcourse,,, infact i setted f2fs as default data filesystem... if u format data, it will automatically make it f2fs nd format it,,, and if u want ext4, just change data filesystem to ext4 nd it will format it to ext4 automatically.....
Backup and restor work fully in this version TWRP? Because other TWRP (prague or greatslon mods) sometimes broke the firmware.

Sorry for the interrupt but its common sense, if that was the issue, no one ever had working rom on honor 8 lite nd i had bunch of issues requests here... Format data with twrp nd then install rom... Send me recovery.log after installation...

I used your twrp in Honor 8 lite PRA- AL00X in android oreo EMUI 8
In the twrp recovery inside the internal storage all the folders names are encrypted and it don't show any IMG or zip files.
Any solution??

Unable to install any Rom , /system: No such file or directory

So I tried to install LineageOS on my Honor 8. I unblocked the Bootloader and I am currently able to get into TWRP and Fastboot Mode. I did change the filesystem for the cache system and data as described in this video: w w w. youtube.com /watch?v=X7yDPszoQ5s to enable the encrypted folders.
When I try to install any ROM I am getting the following Errors in red:
E: unknown command (log)
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file 'romname'
Also:
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
could not detect filesystem for /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system at /system: No such file or directory
unmount of /system failed; no such volume

A305G doesn't turn on.

Hi, i need your help.
My Samsung Galaxy A30 (A305G) doesn't turn on. It stays in bootloop and if I try to boot into Recovery, it doesn't work. The device has the bootloader locked and it also doesn't let me flash any stock / official firmware.
When I boot into recovery, some letters appear at the bottom of the screen, which say the following:
#no data on recovery_cause#
#Reboot Recovery Cause is [UNKNOWN]#
Support SINGLE-SKU
Block-Based OTA
Supported API: 3
E: failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
# MANUAL MODE v1.0.0 #
E: failed to mount /cache: Invalid argument
E: failed to mount /system_root: Invalid argument
E: failed to mount /cache: Invalid argument
E: failed to mount /cache: Invalid argument
E: failed to mount /cache: Invalid argument
': Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_locale
after that, it restarts, returns to recovery and repeats the same infinitely, a kind of bootloop but in recovery.
What did you do/flash to this before it came into this situation?

Latest Magisk messed up my boot. Can I recover without losing everything?

Hi - I tried updating Magisk this morning, and it semi-bricked my OP7P. When I rebooted my phone, I got stuck in FastBoot Mode.
I'm running the latest Android 10 OOS.
My first step at that point was to do a fastboot boot twrp-3.4.0-0-guacamole.img to get into Recovery Mode. That worked, and I tried switching to my SLOT B to boot from.
That seemed to work at first ... but not really.
While my OP7P appeared to be booting from Slot B, it was stuck in a boot loop, with the OOS boot screen "circling electron dot" rotating very, very slowly. After about 5 minutes, I gave up on that.
So, I did another fastboot boot twrp-3.4.0-0-guacamole.img to get into Recovery Mode again, and did a backup of all the partitions (Boot, System Image, Vendor Image, Data, Modem, and EFS) and saved that off.
Now that I backed up all my previous partitions, is there a way for me to get my OP7P back to where it was before I corrupted my boot with Magisk? Can I just recover the Boot Partition from a previous TWRP backup? Or, reinstall some stock image of OOS, reinstall TWRP 3.4.0.0, and then recover some of the partitions I just backed up?
I'm going to hold off until I hear a response back ... I'm afraid if I take any other steps at this point, I could cause irreparable damage - if I haven't already.
¿GJ?
Twrp --> flash your boot.img (with "payload dumper" it can be extracted from the full OTA update file)
Then flash twrp.zip, reboot in to twrp, flash magisk.zip (21.4 or 22), wipe dalvik cache
Reboot and provit ;-)
Ps: for magisk22, rename magisk22.apk to magisk22.zip
Thanks, @ghost323 ! You're a lifesaver!
That is exactly the answer I was looking for, and my OP7P is operational again without any issues.
I'm bookmarking this page, and also putting some notes into my Android stuff for future reference ... Though, I hope I don't have to reference it again.

Not all super heroes wear capes! Thank you so much!
it is asking which parttition to flash , Boot / System image./ Vendor / ramdisk..
which one to select ?
I flashed boot.img to "boot" and flashed twrp.zip
Was on Havoc OS.
Tried to rebooting , it booted into another slot i think , didnt mount the parition. So had to reboot again .. but this time it went to bootloop again with animation.
Now i cant able to go into twrp or fastboot.
Have ti soft bricked ? Atleast took a backup when i was inside TWRP.
can someone help me ? When i boot (not turned off) , it is showing as " Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)"
Boot partition is correct. Did you reboot in twrp and then installed the magisk.zip?
OK tried vol down and power -- it booted into twrp , but both slots dont show or mount OS parition
Install your magisk.zip then try a restart. If you have a bootloop, go back to twrp, change the slot (a / b), install magisk.zip and restart again.
Plan B: install your current firmware via twrp (as if you were doing an update).
Then flash twrp.zip
Then restart again directly in twrp
Then flash magisk.zip
Then delete dalvik cache
Then restart into the system
Good luck
i cant mount or its not showing "sdcard"
its not showing sdcard , also you said to flash the boot.img , when i did it asked me where .. I select "Boot" parititon , is that correct ?
I think i am in X parition where its not showing SDcard content or data ..
really bad day.. didint think magisk would wreak the phone for so many. Atleast they should stop this upgrade for time being.
Sorry i'm @ work...
WTF?!
Have you already tried a USB stick? Maybe this will be shown to you if you have the right cable.
Thanks for the replies.. Even from work..
I dont even know which partition i am in. I tried to reboot into recovery and its working. From there i went to change from slot a to b and its showing
unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/ .twrps
Problem is i cant able to mount "data".
also dm-verity is not disabled in my op7pro , is that causing any issue ?
For now it seems TWRP doesnt know where "data" is , thats is what i am thinking.
Shall i flash twrp again using "tool all in one" ?
when i try to reboot into "bootloader" , it doesnt show "bootloader version" , Baseband version.
just putting it here to identify the issue.
when booting up into twrp , its not asking for my PIN , so its not mouting the normal parition. it is going into some other partition from which it cant mount data/media - sdcard because of encryption.. my guess..
I was able to pull the recovery.log.. please let me know if that could be any help
I think its the partition which is not loading,i think just dirty flashing the ROM should work , but for that i need to mount the data/media/sdcard or internal storage right ? Or will not help ?
I once again flashed TWRP through "TAIO"tool and it flashed on both slot A and slot B.
