Question Bootloader Unlock? - Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus

It's still the early days before many people get these phones. I figure I'd ask the question: Which models, if any, will be able to unlock the bootloader?
Previously, I was told the USA models (even if carrier unlocked) could not unlock the bootloader, while the S. Korean models actually *could*.

Typically, Samsung devices with Qualcomm chipsets marketed in the United States are not bootloader unlockable. Exynos on the other hand usually are. No idea if this has changed in regards to the S23.

No changes at all. The ability to unlock the device doesn't depends on the SoC but rather to the region of the device. The international variant of the phone can be unlocked without any issue

77% of us in the UK in the S23U poll are unable to unlock

just in case none of you guys haven't figured it out the S23s are all unlocked, but are temporarily networked lock depending on how you got your phone. I know this because Samsung told me both the american samsung and the Korean Samsung also my program are it has roots for the devices.. It just don't have a way to network unlock them

To clarify: you mean all s23s are bootloader unlockable and able to be rooted, install custom recoveries/ROMs, etc?

Yes, they can all be rooted and more. You just have to be the one to download the firmware you want and use the method that you want this program supports Magisk root. you can also technically flash firmware as if you are using Odin

Just to clarify - approx 50% of us in the UK are unable to unlock the bootloader as Samsung chose to enable Knox Guard active (01) meaning OEM unlock does not show
Samsung is ambivalent about the issue
UK ONLY - do you have oem unlock available?
As the titles states, it'd be good to understand how many people have the normal oem unlock available in developer options. A couple of us have received various s23 models with kg status active and no oem unlock available in developer settings...

This root method involves using an engineered boot image that doesn't trip Knox if you do it right, however the bootloader is locked so flashing custom ROMs is still not possible.

This is late, but John Legere was lying through his teeth - this was entirely a TMo decision. Got an international version (without snapdragon) which is working good. Will never by another device from TMo US.

No U.S. phones will be unlocked. When a phone is rooted, the government can't get metadata from your phone.... and they want to be able to spy into everything on your phone. The government loves Facebook, Dropbox, and any other collector of information, pics, and emails....

s8+ don´t OEM enable

Hi
i have a question, my phone don´t show the OEM unlock in the developers menu, i can try root the phone.
Without the OEM option and as expected my error in trying to install the file from the odin, great navigation and browsing several forums and in none find something that would help me get rid of the OEM, from recovery and nothing, from El ADB did not want to try it before he asked.
Is there any solution or could they help me with this my phone is a 955f with a exynos

I think It's a Retail Demo Unit. They indicate the Baseband version now, and they have a Sim slot as well.
However, They do not have an OEM unlock option in the Developer settings.
I Might be wrong.

The us snapdragon has a locked bootloader so no oem unlock in developer settings.

BLU unlock allowed Xperia XZ AU vs Docomo so-01j

So as far as I know, ALL docomo XZ SO-01J come with status "bootloader unlock allowed: NO", and I have yet to see otherwise.
But is there a difference to the AU version, or the Softbank? Is either more likely to be unlockable? anybody have experience in that regard?
I also want to do a root or rom installation
my DoCoMo unlock status yes, but im afraid for Root or install global rom. Is it root and global install or custom ROM effect on the SIM card locked?

OK so Ill just answer my own post. It really depends on where you bought the phone and how it was unlocked.
If it was unlocked by just putting in the unlock code generated from a provider, Bootloader will still be locked, BLU status NO
If it was unlocked through flashmode and the code input that way (I have not done it but you get the idea), It should be able to unlock UBL YES
Most sellers are lazy basically, and just punch in the code and be done with it. there are sellers who do it the hard way, but you have to ask around. I asked around 15 sellers, and 3 of them said it was, 1 wasn't unlockable after all (i returned the unit), another one was, and the 3rd was a docomo but I havent ordered a unit.
Docomos can be unlockable, BUT they have some hardware / low level software quirks, and can be buggy when flashing non-docomo ROMs
Au and Softbank are pretty much the same, but I heard (cant confirm so far) NFC is not working on Softbank phones after flashing global ROMs, on AU it should work.

I would test flash an official docomo ROM just to be comfortable with the process and knowing "that it works, and you have to downgrade to a marshmellow official ROM first anyway for a TA backup. then you can most likely go back in case something doesnt work.

Refurbished device with unlocked bootloader, safe ? help please

Hello,
I've just bought a refurbished device on amazon, but when i started it, it shows me the screen with "The bootloader is unlocked and software integrity cannot be guaranteed"

The warranty is gone, but it's ok.
I have relock the device with fastboot, the name of the rom seems legit.
My question : is there still any security risk ?
Thanks
Unless it was specifically advertised as unlocked and you specifically bought it for that reason, I'd reset the phone with an MSM tool or similar.
Maybe I'm just OCD. I factory reset every electronic device I buy before setting it up.

Having a device's bootloader locked simply means that device only will boot into / run Stock ROM: This has nothing to do with whether Android is safe or not.

thanks, yes i have relock the device myself.
But is it sure that it’s now using the original stock rom ? And not a hacked one ?
YES, because original Stock ROM is signed by manufacturer: the bootloader verifies this signature.
Thanks a lot.

Question Change carrier SM-S908U Or Change Firmware

Hello
This is the first time I write here, I bought a phone from someone on the internet a week ago as it is unlocked but it is locked on Verizon network and I am in another country in the Middle East and I spoke with Verizon and Samsung Care in the US they all told me that it is not stolen but requires data to unlock The first buyer, and I don't know her, is there a solution to change the firmware to another country and open it? How do I bypass it as soon as possible? I tried to install a ROM for Europe, which is SM-S908E, but the installation did not work, it says fail sha256 is invalid, and another version was installed through Odin
SM-S908U but nothing changed, is there a solution?
