Hi,
Not long ago I upgraded my phone over the air for the first time and installed android 2.3 and it was taking for ever and the phone died and the battery was taken a few times during the process. A few days after my started acting weird. Now its stuck on a reboot cycle. It will load, and it will be normal for a few seconds (max 20s) then it reboots again and it keeps going into that cycle.
I tried to go into recovery and perform a factory reset but the volume controls are not working. Please help because at the moment I don't have a phone.
Thanks!
Go to the forum specific to your phone model. You'd be helped quicker there. If there isn't one post your phones model here and you may need to flash to stock firmware with a tool made for your phone.

That's right. Flash it again. Lately I tried to upgrade my friend's phone to gingerbread, but failed. It was bricked. But I flashed it again using newer odin 4.38, and now it's normal and upgraded to gingerbread.

i cant get into recovery mode. its frozen.
I don't know much about the g2 but can you boot into the bootloader? if so just flash a new recovery with fastboot. Then reflash your firmware in recovery.
I'm having the same problem with my LG Apex. Seems like there's no forums that help with "unbricking" my phone. I suppose it's a less popular model and doesn't have as much support. Last had Froyo 2.2.2 on it. Just using it to play around with/ learn about android and use the 802.11n @ the house. Didn't even have it a week before I started to have issues; then THIS happens. Anyway, hope someone can help me.
Just rooted my new SGS3 using New Root Method Released for Verizon’s Galaxy S3, No Odin Required. i did the data & kelvic wipe then install Clean Rom 5.0. All progressed without a hitch. Even backed up with CWM prior to flash.
I rebooted into the new rom and got this: System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless... rebooted several time with same result.
What can I do now? Thanks for your help.
Just a wild guess, but me thinks your bootloader is still locked! But I'm not sure that will even apply because I rooted my device before unlocking the bootloader. But I rooted my device via ODIN first.
You can try EZ-Unlock via the Market. The GUI is still very buggy and will show the status as unknown but the internal workings of the app works good.
You got nothin to loose in trying. Go back to stock and give it another whirl after you've unlocked the bootloader.
Of that fails then I would suggest using the tried and true method..ODIN.
G'luck!
yup your bootloader is still locked
check the downloads thread and use version 1.2.
That means your boatloader is locked. You now must Odin back to stock and start over. Droid style has a guide stickied in the development thread. Follow section 6 of it.
Next time use ez unlock version 1.2 to unlock you boatloader.

Yikes, ok
You have to get into DOWNLOAD MODE.. Power+ Volume Down+ Home key at the same time after a fresh battery pull.
Do a search on the Development forum to set up Odin on your PC.
YOU Must FOLLOW directions EXACTLY our you will have very expensive BRICK!

Still having issues. I "think" I am in the download mode. Screen says Downloading.... It has Odin in red in top left corner. Device connects with Odin. BUT I am not getting a PASS message when flashing VRALEC bootchain. Last text line in Odin is: <OSM> Leave CS...
I have tried several attempts.
Suggestions?

No need to do the boot chains. Just follow section 5 of this guide and I recommend root 66 for the ROM you flash

Hi, I have a Verizon S3 flashed to Boost Mobile. I tried to gain root by flashing a stock rooted Rom and messed up the flash. I had to take it back to be flashed again Now I'm more cautious before hand. I should have backed it up before attempting it, I know I know lol can anyone shed some light on how to update a flashed phone as well as how to root it. I could really use the help
Also after I messed up the boost flash I paniced and flashed a sprint kernel hoping this would fix the problem. Since then anything that I've tried to view including taking camera shots and web browsing if done in landscape mode will be upside down, any remedy for this problem? I know now... root first, flash later.

I tried installing a ROM i found on this forum but when i went to reboot and turn back on a warning messege appeared saying something along the lines that the OS was blocked by verizon wireless and i had to bring my phone to the nearest store. It wouldnt reboot into recovery it just kept flashing back to the messege. Im not sure what i did but i managed to boot the phone into something called ODIN mode? It asked me if i wanted to install some firmware in which i assumed was the finishing process to the ROM installation but now its just hungup at the "Downloading...Do not turn off target!!" screen. Im not sure what to do from here any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

First, relax if you're nervous. There is nothing wrong. You didn't unlock your bootloader before flashing the rom, that's why the message is there. Read some of the threads (I'm mobile so I can't link but I'm sure there stickied in one of the sections) about restoring to stock. Grab the Odin file and read a tutorial if the thread doesn't have one on how to flash it. It's just another method of flashing to stock. I would give you step by steps if I wasn't on my phone in bed, if you still need help tomorrow hit me with a pm and ill help you as soon as I get home from school. I can get you familiar with the important things about rooting and flashing on this phone.

Thanks for the quick reply. Is it okay to power off the phone if it says its downloading still. And my phone used to be rooted until the OTA updated it to 4.0.4 for some reason it completely slipped my mind to unlock the bootloader again.
You aren't downloading unless you've hooked your phone to your computer and have run Odin

I have had no luck searching for the stock firmware of the SCH i705 model and cannot get it to boot.
After following this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1885558 Root tutorial, i got to step 2, and after doing the bootloader part, my tab froze at the Odin screen..
tried to reboot into recovery mode, got it for a few tries, and it gave me errors like
"E: could not find.. . ... .system
E: failed to mount,,,.,..,cache/blah"
then the device went into a boot loop and now I powered it off.
EDIT: now when I try booting into recovery, it shows the blue loading text, then goes into odin mode with the message
"Could not do normal boot.

CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official

At what state was your tab when you tried flashing aboot? This is supposed to be flashed when you have booted into android normally. Unfotunately, Verizon has not released stock firmware so this is all we have. You wouldn't even be able to flash a stock recovery or boot image that I've dumped because it's not signed by VZW.
Try going through Step 1b in the root thread again and flash the stock rooted ODIN system image.
Another question, when you're in ODIN mode, is the screen in portrait or landscape mode? Portrait = stock, locked bootloader; landscape = unlocked bootloader.
The thing you don't seem to understand is : you HAVE to reflash your tablet using ODIN. It's not that hard. Just follow the second method here (you don't need to download android SDK)
copy this in your navigator bar : rootzwiki . com/topic/37272-verizonsch-i705-root-for-all-current-firmware/ ( delete space around the dot)
Or here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1885558
Plus, your tab will be rooted.
You're welcome.
P.S : This limitation of URL is annoying as hell.
P.S 2: Oh I see my friend up here has posted the same tutorial. Don't know which one is first. Will link to his thread.

Gg. My tablet stopped powering on. Doesn't respond at all now.
Nice..
Chances are your battery is dead. Plug it into the wall for a few hours.
First off, i appreciate your help, but I am pretty sure my device is done-zo. lol
Its been plugged for at least 5 hours, still unresponsive.
Do you think I have a chance bringing in an absolutely dead (brand new) tablet to the Verizon store?
It was purchased last month so it is probably covered under warranty.. If not there is always the mfc. warranty
If it doesn't respond at all then I'd say it's safe to take it in.

You download the 'J1 OTA Update - Pre-Rooted.zip' to your SD Card and flash it in CWM... You don't do anything to any folder or file. Don't open the 'J1 OTA Update - Pre-Rooted.zip'. Just download it to your SD card and flash it.

Hey guys, very new to the whole custom firmware stuff, however I'm a quick learner.
I installed ICS firmware 4.0.3 by using Kies and then stupidly without doing research flashed the kernal for gingerbread on the phone, thus soft bricking it and causing it to just hang at the load screen upon boot.
So what I did was find the stock kernal here and flash that and it fixed the phone and put it back to version 2.3.6 (i originally had it at 2.3.4). However now Kies says that my firmware is not supported to update to ICS from gingerbread, although I previously did it not more than an hour ago.
As of right now I think I may have messed up my phone because when I try to boot in download mode my phone just vibrates at like 4 second intervals and I get these greenpixels that appear for 1-2 seconds and then the phone wont boot in download mode and when I let go of the download buttons the phone boots normally. Any ideas as to how to get the phone back into ICS or even flash it to cm10?
This is an interesting case as I don't think anyone is experiencing this.
BTW i flashed to stock with the return to stock, fix soft brick tar thread on this forum, but after i flashed that, I can no longer access download mode, any ideas as to how I can get to ICS?

---------- Post added at 07:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:42 PM ----------
After re-reading your post, I'm not entirely sure that I can help, but here goes ..
Please read my ENTIRE post before doing anything, please!
What's the problem? You flashed a rooted kernel that was compiled for GB on a stock ICS ROM.
What needs to be done? Well, We're going to fix it (hopefully)
Go to THIS thread, within this thread is a download link for a file called "UVLB7.tar.md5", download it and follow the instructions in the thread to flash it. You now have a pre July 16th image of GB.. You can do two things from here
1) Kies will (or least should) recognize the firmware on your phone and push you to the latest Official ICS Stock ROM. (This is what you requested in the OP)
OR
2) You can try to root the phone again, I'm assuming THIS was thread you followed to root your phone the first time, If it wasn't, use it now, lol. After you follow the directions in this thread, you should be fully rooted and ready to flash to your hearts desire.
NOTE!!!
YOU NEED TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN BOTH OF THE THREADS, IT IS POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO HARD BRICK YOU PHONE! IF THAT, OR ANYTHING ELSE HAPPENS, ME NOR THE CREATORS OF THOSE THREADS ARE RESPONSIBLE, YOU'RE CHOOSING TO FOLLOW THEM! BE CAREFUL!!
Sorry for that, lol, just had to cover my grounds
