Hi,
I have Google's camera app, the 2014 version. It works fine, but I'm wondering if there's a newer version (which will work on this phone) which will provide more options?
Thanks,
.... john

Hello!
This is my first post and my very first Android phone of all time - so excuse me if I asked something that is so obvious. I am still learning!
I have a Moto G Google Play Edition and I am very happy about everything with it (It's my travel phone, my primary driver is an iPhone 5S and a BlackBerry Z10) I read a lot of article about this phone before I settled on my very first Android and I heard a lot of good things about using stock Android. There is just one catch, the stock Camera app sucks and does not take HDR pictures. Is there a way to load the Motorola Camera App on this phone without rooting? I googled a few methods on the internet and doesn't seem to work (Obviously it wouldn't install from the Google Play Store, I also tried downloading the apk but it doesn't install on my phone.)
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

if you want functions this has loads. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.almalence.opencam
It's nice but it's not the same interface
I am a purist...
I came across a website which talks about the 4.4.3 dialer app. It mentions features that I don't have on my dialer. Specifically the ability to lookup local numbers.
For fun, I downloaded it onto my Nexus 7, and lo and behold it really works as described in the article. I find that if I type in the names of local businesses/restaurants etc and it really does find their number.
So if this is the same 4.4.3 dialler why don't I have this feature on the Moto G running 4.4.3?
Here is the link to the article that sparked my interest.

I have not dared to install the dialler app on my Moto G (yet). I wonder is this feature switched on and off depending on country etc? Or perhaps Motorola has disabled the lookup capability?

It works on my phone

The lookup features are present in the Google dialer, which looks exactly the same, but also has that feature. The stock Motorola rom doesn't have it, however, the gpe and custom roms with gapps installed have it.

I didnt get any notification for 4.4.4 update in my moto g.
First of all, I dont know what Google Play Edition means.
Thanks in advance.
Google play edition is an exclusive edition which can be bought only from Google play store. It offers pure stock user experience. No non-google apps comes with it.
Anyone know why the Motorola Skip & Skip dots would be incompatible with the X 2014? I have not been able to test this myself as i have not received my X 2014 yet. On the Motorola website the Skip page states in the description "...unlocks your Moto X—(1st Gen. only) and Droid Mini, Ultra and Maxx too—with a single tap."
I just tried a SKIP with mine (never used it before its been on a shelf) and all I get is a message saying: New tag collected and some code that I would assume allow the SKIP to work on the 2013.
I think the SKIP software just has not been updated for the 2014. The version in the store says its incompatible.

They don't work. Moto specifically says it only works with the first Gen Moto X. I didn't notice that until I had already bought it. Oh, and a Moto Support agent said it would work so I want to blame him / her.

If you are rooted and use xposed framework, you can try
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/unlock-your-phone-using-nfc/
If you do, go to the apps and disable "tags" or you will be continuously nagged with a some endless screen.
I found this:

I kinda like those Dots and the original Skip though because I don't like a bunch of junk hanging on my key chain.
It won't matter once Android L is released, because it will allow any phone to unlock with NFC tags.
