Thanks, sorry about that. It's just my first time on the forum, I haven't had time to figure everything out yet.

Hi, guys. I want to create update for my ROM, but i'm thinking, what can i add to this update.
Ideas: 1. New system apps(Messages, Gallery, Calls, etc.
2. New font in system.

No one tried this app ? :-(
The main problem seems the number of application, you should focus on that if you want be a real marker alternative
Ps : bon courage sinon
It's not a problem, because this is not a release version ! The market doesn't exists at this time, no one can send an app. We are just building the website and application.
This week I was on holiday, so nothing really new. I've just starting integrating the application design. How do you feel about it ?
Though I wasn't here, the website has grow up, take a look : http://yaam.mobi
It looks nice! You might want to eliminate the splash screen though; speed is a necessity. Add an 'Already Downloaded' section above Category 1, Category 2, since it currently doesn't tell you what's been downloaded. And when you view a category, cache the apps available so it's not refreshing each time (Again, a speed issue).
And I forgot, an uninstall option [for apps].
Xlythe > Thanks for your report ! I removed splash screen.
Application update, with categories Applications/Games, and sub categories !
http://yaam.mobi/apk/yaam.apk
It's a very nice app :]
Edit: The update o_o Wow.
for developing paid apps
will yaam take a percentage of the profit on items sold similar to apple's store?
No, developers will receive all the price of his application.
But YAAM is going to take a percent when users send money on their YAAM account.
very good idea
Very good idea.
Make sure you implement "filtering" that can be customized by user and SAVED.
For example: I want to filter out "wallpaper" or "sexy" from app title list.
Then I wont see those apps.
Filter on:
- App Title
- App Author
That would be awesome.

love the idea of savable filters, i hate seeing all the themes/clocks/"sexy" picture apps all the time. maybe have categories apps/games/themes, so all the wallpaper, theme, sound, clock apps could stay out of the app column
Hi,
Some News about YAAM : It's growing very fast since it official launch, we are about at 60 applications, 70 developers, and... 2 600 users ! And we are planning a partnership with a big SD cards society
Already waiting for YOUR applications
If you don't mind, I'll place the info about your app at russian PDA community's forum. I think, russian developers and users will be glad to have one more alternative to Market. Your project is awesome!
My feature request list
Great app, hope you continue supporting it and keep implementing user-requested features, like:
1) Meta-market: Automatically aggregate apps from the official Market and other alternative markets. There are so many advantages to this that I think this feature should be your first priority. The main advantage is of course, users need not have to install a dozen alternative-market applications and developers need not have to submit to all the markets. Of course, a user might not be able to pay for a third-market app directly, so pressing the install/purchase button can open up the respective market app/URL.
2) User comments + moderation + karma : similar to system used by Slashdot:
Moderation is really needed because sometimes stupid users rate an app 1 star just because they didn't understand how to use it (for eg, themes/addons), and it unfairly brings down the rating of the app. Moderation allows such comments/feedback to be automatically hidden and not count towards the final app rating. It also allows for a karma system. It's useful because karma allows people to trust a particular user's reviews. Users having negative karma will not be able to vote on other's comments. Users with sufficient positive karma have voting rights. Users with very high karma can be promoted to moderators, thus having the ability to clean up unfair comments / votes.
IMO you could implement the voting system this way: When a user posts a comment, positive karma users can vote whether that comment was Useful, Neutral, Inaccurate, and Spam.
'Useful' comments earn positive karma. These are comments that help people whether to install this app or not, and see what are the features/limitations. For example: "This app worked great for me, but could use some improvements. Pros: blah, blah, blah. Cons: blah, blah, blah".
'Neutral' comments don't count towards the karma. These comments aren't very useful. They're still nice to have around though. For example: "Nice app, thanks".
'Inaccurate' comments earn negative karma. The rating associated with it will not count towards the final rating of the app. These comments will be visible in the comments list but hidden by default. (Like in Digg or Slashdot)
For example: "Doesn't work.". ("Um, yes it does, it's a widget!")
'Spam' is of course, off-topic comments. If a comment gets too many 'Spam' votes, it will be removed. Repeat offenders will be automatically banned.
3) Allow the author to reply to user comments. The reply should be made visible under the respective comment. These comments would be useful for both the author, as a way to tell their side of the story, and as a user, to see that the author is actively involved with the program. For example: "Thanks for the report, will be fixed in next version". or "It's an addon, you have to install xyz program first")
4) Stricter rating system - Don't allow users who are rating 1 or 2 stars to submit the rating without typing a comment. The developer and other users deserve to know the reason behind such a low rating. You can have a multiple-selection list like:
- It didn't work for me at all
- It didn't have the features I needed
- It's not up to the standards
- It didn't have the advertised features
- It's defective
- It's malicious
- Other
And at the end of the list add a text field so that users can type their comment there.
This feature, combined with feature #2 should allow for better screening of apps and ratings, without any intervention needed from you guys or the app developers.
5) Searching: Allow the user to search by author, app name, description, category, date.
Also, please allow standard search operators like AND (&), OR (|), NOT (-) , and exact ("").
6) Sorting: Sort by date, title, author, size, rating, downloads (popularity), category
7) Filtering: Exactly what gogol said. Also, by default, please make it such that adult apps are hidden. Finally, implement a sever-side filter for really annoying and possibly harmful spam comments like ("www.blahblahblah.net $9.99 a year! All paid apps! We have them all!"). These sort of comments shouldn't even be allowed to be posted.
8) Highlight new apps. Maybe use a different color, or a 'New' tag.
9) Please include the version number and date in the app's details.
10) 'Confirm Password' field should be added to the 'Create Account' screen. (This is present on the website, but why has this not been added to the app?)
11) Some improvements can be made to the registration (fix the grammar and typos in the email) to make it look a bit more professional. Also, one should not be able to register without clicking on a confirmation link. This is necessary, otherwise people will be able to use any random email address to register an account. (If they did want to use a random email, they're free to use spam.la, mailinator, etc...)
An example welcome email (based on the one sent by phpBB):
"Welcome to YAAM, an alternative Android Market!"
Please keep this e-mail for your records. Your account information is as
follows:
----------------------------
Username:
Profile URL:
----------------------------
Please visit the following link in order to activate your account:
http://yaam.mobi/register.php?mode=activate&u=#####&k=XXXXXXXXX
Your password has been securely stored in our database and cannot be
retrieved. In the event that it is forgotten, you will be able to reset it
using the email address associated with your account.
Thank you for registering.
Best regards,
The YAAM team."
12) Website improvements - I understand it's still under construction, but when it's done, could you add these features:
- Allowing direct download of apk file (using 'http://', so that users can download apps using a different device)
- Link to user profile showing the user's most recent reviews, their karma, and optional user-editable fields like avatar, device, location, etc.
13) Please make a roadmap and display it in the first post and/or on your website, so that we know the current status of YAAM.
14) Facebook and Twitter buttons on an app's page
I understand the above list may seem daunting, but without atleast half of the features implemented, I see no advantage in using YAAM. But consider this fact - YAAM has very little competition. We all know Google's going to take ages to implement all this. You already have a base. All you need to do is keep implementing the features regularly to make YAAM the de-facto in the Android Market scene.
---
Btw, does anyone else find the phrase "YAAM Market" a bit silly? Because when you expand it, it reads as "Yet Another Alternative Market Market" It's just one of those phrases you know, like "NIC Card", "LAN network", "USB bus"...
Hi,
I've fallen in love with your message deXter
I'll check every features, and try to implement its as soon as I can !
this looks cool! i hate the regular marketplace...
I think you've got a very good setup here, and some of the suggestions in this thread will only make it greater.
The main gripe for me with the existing market besides the below bar category system, and lack of filters, has been the fact that I would have to use Google checkout. I know Google know just about everything about us already, but I have and use Paypal, and was hoping to be able to use it for apps. If you are offering this with YAAM, thats already a big plus for me.
I have to agree with others regarding the number of applications currently available, but I will continue to follow this apps development. Perhaps there could be a way to browse the existing market using your app, and offer different methods of payment etc whilst nabbing a bit for its development? I dont know. I realise this would increase the potential costs for every application.
Hi,
Since last post, things have changed. I've released some weeks ago a new YAAM version, recoded from scratch version of application and website!
YAAM currently represents about 23.000 users and 400 applications.
Some functionnality:
° No description limit
° Up to 6 screens
° HTML formating in descriptions
° Developers receive 100% of application price (minus Paypal fees)

You can see "how the App works" by comparing source code of the original project (JetBoy sample from Google- a game project) and source code of the resulted project. You can compile and run both of them, you will see: they work the same.
On the other hand, As I know, Google allows users cancel their transactions within 2 hours. So you can try it and cancel the transaction (if it 's not fit for you). This app run so fast, the small project only need one minue for complete.
Thanks for your reply, sorry I don't check the play store link, I think it is not paid app.

Will it get downloaded again and over-written?

By default it will be overwritten. But you can add custom filters within the dnsfilter.conf (see filter.host = true|false settings).
Alternativly it is possible to disable the automated filter download so that the FILTERHOST.TXT won´t be overwritten.
Just check dnsfilter.conf file for details. It contains a good documentation of the different settings.

1) do I need to check "Advanced settings" in order for those settings to work? If I don't check it, I can't scroll down to view the logs, unless I'm missing something
2) Also, any reason why some of my custom entries in the "Advanced settings" doesn't work? (I put in entries to be filtered and those are still allowed in the log and entries to be allowed, but those are still blocked.) I've hit Reload filter and Restart and sometimes it works, but more often it doesn't.
3) Lastly, any reason why other times my entire "Advanced settings" erases? How can I get those entries to persist?
Thanks for putting this app together, hopefully once I know what's going on I'll be able to use it much better.

Advanced settings unfolds when clicked, set values, untick and the put in values are active but hidden in the GUI. Set a custom reload intervall for testing to see (days until next reload).
Use a text editor to edit the right files inside the pDNSf folder in your storage. You will find examples and descriptions there. Just have a look at the even more advanced settings playing around with the configuration files. Quit the client, edit files, start the client again and reload.

Yes .... better edit the dnsfilter.cfg file. In addition: the advanced settings within the GUI only allows to edit the filter URL and reload interval. In case invalid values are added, it will be reset to the previous valid entries (Check for messages in the log area)

Thanks for the heads up guys. I was looking in the Android/data folder for the settings, but I should have just looked at the root folder. Okay, I've got everything to work now!

Can you please advise what the difference is in your fork? All I can see is that yours supports v5+ while the original supports 4.2, but I don't know why.

Hello
I want to try your host
I had few hosts and just added yours, but I realize that your host were listed as "Not Available"
Will it still works or maybe I missed something here
Go on with this work!! I'm impressed!
Tiny list but interessting.
Best regards!
sp.auth.adobe.com
sp.auth.adobe.com blocks android users from signing into app Channels i.e. History, ESPN, Starz (spectrum login). Its annoying having to put it into whitelist across several devices.

I assume you heared about his keweonDNS project.
If you dont, take a look, and you will know exactly what I'm talking about.

FAQ
Q: Why is it not possible to find an icon for a certain website?
A: This problem can occur due to multiple reasons. In most cases, the website does not offer a high-resolution icon. If you are a website maintainer and your website icon cannot be found, look at realfavicongenerator.net for further information. If you think it should work, feel free to post the URL and I will look into it.
Q: Why would I need this app if any mobile browser can do the same?
A: Mobile browsers usually only are able to create shortcuts which give a native, borderless fullscreen experience if the website has a Progressive Web App (PWA) manifest. Unfortunately, most websites do not offer this feature yet.
Q: Can I keep multiple log-in sessions of the same website?
A: Yes, this is possible using the sandbox feature of Native Alpha Plus.
Q: Why isn't the sandbox feature in Native Alpha Plus enabled by default?
A: The sandboxing approach is recommended for specific usage rather than general usage because it can limit the performance of the application and increase the disk usage. Therefore, use it for privacy-invasive websites or websites where you want to be logged in twice, but not for any website just because you can.
Q: IIs this app a dedicated web browser with its own browser engine?
A: No. As stated, this app relies on the system built-in Android WebView in order to display the website. For privacy reasons, you can opt to use alternative webviews such as Bromite on rooted phones. Always make sure to use to most recent version of any WebView implementation you use!
Q: In constrast to your promise, this app has a large memory footprint!
A: This is because Native Alpha makes use of caching in the same way your browser app does, i.e., it saves web content locally on your device. Then it can be loaded faster if you visit the same page again. I will look into a way for better cache management. In the meantime, you can either delete cache regularly yourself or set the "Clear cache after usage" setting in the global settings if memory footprint is a concern for you. However, then websites will take a longer time to load because everything has to be loaded from net.
A list of used open-source libraries can be found inside the app ("About" section).

Thanks for pointing that out. It is a security feature of Android WebView to block HTTP pages but I will offer an global option to override that behaviour (and probably enable it by default).
Just wish you could save the site as a APK.
I wish each webapp had its own cookie container Now if I create a youtube web app and then create a gmail webapp and signin, the youtube also gets signed in.

It is definitely on my backlog to have a better separation between the apps. It is probably not possible regarding cache but it should work to flush and reload first-party cookies from disk for every app separately. Didn't make it to first release because the WebView implementation (as any other browser I know) does not offer this cookie separation natively.

This is a big one for me too. I could see myself mostly using this for demos and things at work, and we don't often go through the trouble of using HTTPS. Really nice project though!

Dont't worry, that feature will be coming for sure. After all, I really need it myself
Thanks for all the positive feedback and suggestions, I will release a new version with HTTP support and a few other things on Wednesday or Thursday this week.
New release
Hi,
I just released a new version on GitHub.
Changelog:
HTTP connection handling: Added an option "Allow HTTP" on Web App level. Upon establishing a HTTP connection for the first time, the user gets a prompt and can decide to allow HTTP within the currently opened Web App (i.e., the user will not get prompted again).
SSL error handling: Alert dialog is shown, the user is advised to leave.
Data savings: Added options to send "Save-data" HTTP header and to block the loading of images.
Redesigned and restructured the Web App Settings + Global Settings page.
Added PayPal donation button to About page.
Next up: Improve test coverage, prepare the app for F-Droid release.
Stay tuned for further improvements

Yes, custom icons are already on my backlog
I submitted the app to F-Droid today, but I suppose it can take a while until they actually confirm the inclusion in their repo. Anyway, I will continue to offer the APK on GitHub at least until I implemented the backup/import settings feature so early adopters can switch from GitHub to F-Droid deployment easily.

Hello !
I've been looking to do that manually for some time, your app does the work really well ! Great job !
As a suggestion, it would be great if we could add shortcut in the app drawer, not only homecreens.

Hi, I am afraid there is no possibility to add shortcuts to the app drawer dynamically for Android Oreo or newer. All shortcuts besides the main app shortcut must be pre-defined and baked into the APK.
