Connect poco x3 nfc to laptop (win11) using USB to download some pics
First of all its sooooooo slow to load (Im using brand new lenovo slim 3 8GB mem 512GB storage)
no other progs are running when accessing pics
Go into view on DCIM and even though I set view in date created mode, ascending the pictures are all over the place
Its so frustrating when Im trying to find just one pic which I just took and i have to go through all 500 pics on my phone

Windows probably creates thumbnails of your photos which takes some time if you have 500 pictures there. Once they are created, it should get better the next time you connect your phone.
Another thing might be your antivirus software. Windows Defender is all you need on your laptop. Uninstall any other antivirus, security software that came pre-installed on your laptop

To put pictures and videos on your phone simply connect the phone by a usb cable to a computer, the phone will offer you to turn on usb storage and you just click yes. Your computer will then show your phone as a usb drive that you can copy files to or from as if it were a folder on your computer.
Or you can use a wireless file transfer application from the android market, there are some great free ones and all you do is switch your wi fi on type a web address in your pc web browser and can transfer files that way instead.
Skins and themes are available for free on the Android market, or you can use a replacement home launcher like GoLauncher or ADW. If you use a replacement you can add themes much more easily and even change small details like application icons, which is best if you want to customise everything for a unique look that is more to your own taste.
You can add live wallpapers and change your phones background with the stock launcher but for changing other things you would be better using an alternative launcher, to change wallpaper just press the phones menu button (far left hardware button) and select wallpaper option from the menu that will pop up on screen.
As regards the pc suite I have not used that on the Optimus 3D so can't answer that question.
Dave
thanks dave you have been a great help, ive just rooted my phone aswell.
do you know what folder i put my pictures and videos from my pc in on the phone.
i jailbroke my iphone is there anythink like this for the optimus 3d?
and can you explain more about what rom is and how to change to the best. my benchamrk score as stock is 2300 ish
many thanks
alex
You can put your pictures and videos in any folder, but if you have a memory card in your phone you can save to that and keep the built in memory for downloaded applications but basically wherever you copy files when your phone is disconnected from the pc it will rescan the memory to add any media files you transferred to it so wherever you put them it will still find them
A rom is the copy of your phones operating system (Android) that you can, with a computer, flash (write to) to put a different version on.
Doing so can make the phone run better, some add new features or remove unwanted ones, but if you haven't done it before it can be daunting. I did it a lot of times for my previous LG phone and before that my earlier HTC phone but first few times it was daunting.
Jailbreaking is I think what you have done by rooting the phone because now you can do things to the phone LG didn't want you to just as you can with a jailbroken iphone, as you are now rooted you can install any rom you choose but to be honest it might be better to hold off installing one until all the features of the phone are fully supported.
I can't tell you how to do that as I mine is on a contract so I haven't considered changing the rom, I did on my previous LG phone and I know there are posts in this forum that tell you what apps to use but I wouldn't be able to say which to use myself at the moment.
Dave
hi thanks for your response dave,
mine aswell is on contract and wont consider messing with rom at the moment,
unless boredom takes over
i will consider buying an sd card then as my phone didnt come with one
but i hear some sd cards are better than others
thanks
alex
You don't have to buy an sd card but one will be useful if you plan on downloading lots of films or 3d content, taking lots of pictures or videos etcetera.
If you get one then check the class number of the card you are buying, the higher the number on it (eg class six) the faster it can read or write. A class six card (or better) is perfect for high definition and 3D video recording and can be bought in pretty much any electrical outlet.
You can buy a brand name 16 Gigabyte class six MicroSD card for under £30 or a smaller size such as 4 Gigabyte for a few pounds. You can store apps on the card if you like, I prefer storing my media files on the external sd card and apps on the internal sd card as if you store apps on the external card and then unmount the card your apps would of course be unavailable until you mount it again.

Interesting problem, hoping someone can add some info.
I have on occasion transferred files to my transformer via usb cable using the camera mode. The only limitation [I thought] at the time was that it would only give you access to the DCIM and Pictures folders, no big deal, just transfer files to other folders once they transferred.
Then today when I was trying to copy a large amount of data to my TF101 this one [multiple video files], I got an "out of memory error".
When I hit properties on the computer, it is registering those 2 folders on a different partition, with a total size of 4.1GB. Now since the TF does not show this, I am either thinking the base settings reads it and adds it to the system, or most likely it is virtual and a mechanism to simply give access to those 2 folders.
After a bit of trial and error, I found that even if my videos were moved [cut / paste] to a new folder, they were still linked to the other partition. Deleting the videos gave me back space, however I can not get more than 2GB free [of the 4.1].
So either there is an unresolved trash issue, or maybe 2GB was the max size available.
So questions:
1. Can someone [or multiple people] set their TF's to connect to the pc as a camera and do properties and report available space. Obviously interested if people can get the full 4.1 GB
2. If you can get the full 4.1 GB, any ideas how I can clear the 2 GBs of trash data [most likely].

Why don't you mount as a portable media player, I can see both internal and external sd cards at 6.8 gb and 14 gb (of 16gb im guessing this is because of read/write file permissions). when mounted as a camera I get 6.8 gb but it doesn't show external storage.
Right, so we have just come home from amazing holidays. During the holidays I've emptied my camera's SD card on my TF101. I just now tried to cut them from my TF101 to my external HDD. When I connected it to my laptop, it struck me: all files are turned to 0kb pictures. The strange thing is though, that when I check the storage manager in Android, it shows that there is about 12GB in use. How do I restore these pictures? It would be a shame if I lost all 2500 pictures!
Please help

recuva is great for recovering all sorts of files
My DCIM folder weirdly became empty for some reason after I plugged my phone into my computer to download some photos.
I took some 20 or 30 pictures today and thought I had them in my DCIM folder. As I reached home and tried to copy them to my computer, I found that the DCIM folder was completely empty. I tried to search my gallery on my phone but it couldn't find any photos that were camera taken either. I took 1 or 2 photos to see if it stores them and it does. Right in the DCIM folder.
Before this happened, I know I checked my gallery for camera taken pictures yesterday and they were there. I am almost positive that it happened sometime between me starting to take photos today and the time I arrived home and plugged it in.
I am wondering what might cause such a thing to happen. None of my other data on either the phone storage or the SD card is missing from what I can notice, just the DCIM folders are empty. My phone is rooted and changed some system apps, deleted some, added some. I am wondering if this could be something related to memory management of the Camera app, which is the default one.
I think, but I am not completely sure, that as I was taking the photos I could notice the remaining photos count dropping and when I reached home, even though the DCIM folders were empty, the number didn't rise back.
What's even weirder is that I used a data recovery tool from the web and it did indeed find some deleted files on both my sd card and my phone storage but not one single picture of the ones I took.
Any ideas? Has this ever happened to you? Any possible solutions, maybe?
Thanks,
Fred
Update
I found the pictures. I am not sure if they're all of them but I believe so. They were in my LOST.DIR folder, for some reason.
Can you guys think of an explanation for which all of my DCIM contents got moved to LOST.DIR? Also the extensions on all of them was lost. They were files without extensions, like text files in Linux. I had to run a for command in shell to rename them all.

Explanation: You did not safe unmount the storage from your computer, thats why the files were declared as "lost/broken" and moved to LOST.DIR ....
you're right. I totally did not do that. thanks

Hey I've been having some problems with my DCIM folder too. yesterday I connected my Note 3 neo to my PC(running elementary OS) and it showed that DCIM folder was empty, but since it took up almost all of the device storage, I moved that empty folder to my PC and boom! 10 GB freed from my device:good:. But DCIM still empty. And now I can't get those photos and videos back even after moving them back to device.
Can anyone explain what just happened with me and how to fix this?
Does anyone know how you are supposed to transfer files from microsd storage to otg storage?
I have just spent the last 4hrs failing to do so?
I have given every permission I can think of an I get a picture telling me I have to give further permissions that are not available?
Global 6gb ram an 128g storage. Miui 12.0.4.0.
I have had 4 Xiaomi cellphones an simply transferring files pictures an movies has been a major headache with all of them.
Where am I going wrong?
So edit. The only way to shift files from a microsd card to an otg usb is with a computer.
in my view thats just not good enough. Nubia Huawei an even samsung can all directly transfer from sd card to anywhere you like.
Why are Xiaomi an Poco like this? I think its something they should work on. file transfer is a pretty basic function that miui completely fails on :-/
Found it OK, You will need to use the dropdown menu from the notification panel to copy though.
Tried 3rd party app and kept asking for permission or usb didn't show up in storage list at all.

I tried about 5 3rd party apps. I think it's a Miui weakness. I find the only way to transfer from sd card to otg storage is via computer with cable. Miui has always been like this. I think my next device will be oneplus. Xiaomi/poco are great cells but Miui misses the mark in some basic functionality. Like transferring things an what I call the micro status bar. You need custom roms or to write a code to get status bar to increase. Love Xiaomi but not it's weaknesses
I'm using FTP server and wifi(866mbit).
MTP over Usb 2.0 soooo slow, wifi link faster(transfer speed ob my sandisk extreme- ~50-55 MByte/s).
