Question Custom roms questions - Google Pixel 7 Pro

Hi
Last time I rooted a phone and flashed a custom rom was 2 years ago, back then custom roms could be flashed either in twrp or in magisk.
Now from the look of it , it's neither with the Pixel 7 Pro ?
Is there a custom rom that keeps the new AI stuff like unblur photos and portrait?

No recovery, nowadays it's a bit more complicated but there are great guides around. There's also Pixel Flasher that helped me root mine in a few clicks...

Recovery can still be used to sideload OTA zips, whether from Google or a custom ROM. However, update packages can be flashed using fastboot, no need to even really touch the device until it's finished.
Just build/download an update package (ROM-update.zip), plug into the PC:
Code:
fastboot -w update ROM-update.zip
Just like factory

Whenever I get a new Android device or one of my family members does, I always(if possible of course) unlock the bootloader, install a custom recovery and root the phone. When you do it, right after you bought it, there isn't any chance that you lose data. Plus, it's super easy.
Just my take on this.
Custom ROMs are of course a possibility, but most of the time I test a whole bunch and choose my favorite.
Current setup is Multirom with SlimKat and crDroid. It's amazing!
soon as it got delivered i unlocked the bootloader and flashed twrp. installed slim.
First thing you should do (after charging to 100%) is unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, and make a backup of the stock ROM. Do that before you even switch it on.

Xiaomi Poco F1 touch not working after installing TWRP!

Hey guys i have an issue,
i was running Pixel Experience 10 but on MIUI 10, i couldn't update the last one so i thought to get back to stock rom, update to miui 11 and then get back to my Pixel rom. I DID A F*CKING MISTAKE. I installed the Miui 11 Update through TWRP without restoring the stock miui 10 rom. It worked but i had lost my Pixel rom ( i have a backup), ok then i installed TWRP at the MIUI 11 because recovery mode got me at Xiaomi Recovery for some reason. Inside the TWRP i flashed Disabled forc Encryption, but it didnt flash the Magisk, i reboot to system and after 100 bootloops i tried to go back to recovery mode, it boot at TWRP but since then, the TOUCHSCREEN DOESN'T WORK.. I used xiaomi mi flash tool to return to stock rom, it did, locked the bootloader etc...the touchscreen still doesn't work though... I can connect a mouse with OTG Type-C and i can do anything you tell me in order to fix it.. i have already update to MIUI 11, unlock the bootloader, installed TWRP and have Root. Has anyone any idea or a solution to try?
Thanks everyone in advance.

Easy way to return to rom stock?

Hi Guys, basically, whenever I try any rom and get bored or just don't like it, I try to go back to the stock rom, but I don't know an easy way to do it.
On other phones it has been as easy as flashing a .zip file
I have seen methods such as returning to stock rom through fastboot, which does not work for me and which is very heavy because I end up in brick.
The way in which I can return to stock rom is through MSM, that is, in EDL mode and it is very heavy to have to do it always, that's why I have limited myself a lot to change roms or have root or recovery because installing stock rom is an odyssey for me.
Just boot to TWRP and flash stock rom zip file on both slots. Dont forget to wipe data

What is the file? I tried the file on the official page and got a bootloop, and in both slots what do you mean?

1.) Name and version of Custom ROM currently on your phone? (or you have Open Beta?)
2.) What is your Phone Model?
3.) Do you have TWRP and/or Magisk?
4.) rooted phone?

My phone is the global version 1917, for example, for the moment I have installed paranoid android, renovate ice, but I have not finished liking it then when wanting to return to the stock rom, use the official rom of the oneplus page, but it gives me installation error, or I try to flash by fastboot and it gives me an error or bootloop. and I have to do it through EDL mode. with android 9.0 and after that update android 10

Try to get the correct instructions
in the forum section of that Custom ROM
that you already have installed on your phone.

Help making a Backup before installing magisk+twrp OP8 IN2015 - already unlocked bootloader.

Hello! I've been rooting and installing custom ROMs for years but it's been a long while since I last did it, I got a oneplus 8 global (IN2015) late last year, unlocked the bootloader as soon as I got it out of the box since I knew eventually I would want to flash some stuff. but I have kept it stock this long. Running latest Oxygen 11 android 11
Since I want to start flashing some kernels or roms I wanted to ask about making a backup since I've never had a phone without sd card slot where I would usually store backups.
Can I still use titanium backup to keep all of my apps/data/photos/videos and the state they are in, store it in my pc , then go about flashing a custom Rom and then bring my titanium backup back into the phone and restore everything?
since I'll be installing custom roms based on android 11 I believe it will be fine with no conflicts? or does it matter that my apps were installed in Oxygen OS?
that's what I used to do with older phones anyway. is there a way to flash a rom while having the titanium backup still in storage since most roms require full whipe when clean installing them?
Recently twrp added official support for OP8 and when I open the official app it recognizes my phone as instant noodle but when I click search for phone it says it can't connect to the server? should I flash official twrp from the app or via fastboot? which I'm also quite rusty with.
any tips for a step by step would be appreciated
Hello, I was in the same boat as you since I came to the OP 8 from a Galaxy S4. Titanium backup should work for what you want to do, as long as the custom rom is also based on A11 (disclaimer: I haven't tried it; I'm running rooted stock OOS 11 with a custom kernel). If the rom you want to install requires a data partition format, you can't keep the backups there during the flashing process. If it only needs a data wipe / factory reset, everything in the sdcard directory (also known as /data/media) should be preserved.
I'd say just flash TWRP in fastboot. Flash it to both recovery slots, and read up on how flashing works with A/B slot devices if you aren't familiar, since you'll need to know about it when flashing roms also. It's a big difference from what I was used to with older devices.
Thanks for the reply, yeah I was thinking of just going with a custom kernel since I have so much stuff going on the phone I find it really a chore to backup, but still might want to try it.
What kernel are you using and how are you liking it ?

Flashing recoveries never work (except for one case)

Hey everyone,
I have an unlocked OP 7 pro.
Lately, I decided to go back to custom roms after a year or so of sticking with rooted stock.
I've tried to flash Pixel Experience & Flamingo OS and while both completed successfully, they won't pass the bootloader.
Then I tried to install crDroid using the script the author has provided and suddenly it does boot to recovery and I was able to flash the rom completely and boot to it.
Has anyone encountered such a case and has a workaround for it?
Thanks

Just wanna to let any future visitors of this thread how I've solved it.
1. I use the msmtool to reflash stock and lock the bootloader on the way. (Here)
2. I installed OTA stock updates.
3. I unlocked the bootloader again
4. Voila, now I was able to flash stuff.
Good luck everyone
