I recently installed an after market AndroidAuto unit in my car, it is only available as a wired connection, which is fine. When I plug my device, the sound is routed through the USB (and from there to the unit's AUX interface) which sounds crappy.
My car's bluetooth stereo sounds much much better.
According to Google's site and some other sources, it is not possible to re-route the audio through Bluetooth.
Is there some kind of mod or an application (combined with root) that can actually work around this limitation?

IF the bluetooth radio stuff works, then tomtom/music could go via my HTC which would be awesome... or is it possible to play MP3's via an USB outlet, or have some auxout to my htc?
A few months ago, I bought a head unit (Dual XHD6425) that has front panel aux out, usb, and bluetooth. I originally got it for its 3.5 mm auxillary out for my ipod, but I then bought the add-on bluetooth module and started using my cellphone and now my Fuze. Bluetooth audio streaming (A2DP) is much more convenient as there are no wires to deal with. The TF3D music program supports AVRC so you can use the unit's fast fwd/rewind/stop buttons to control playback. Tomtom also routes its audio through the bluetooth interface as well. Of course, you also get hands-free calling, which is great as I usually forget to put on or turn on my bluetooth headset when I enter my car.
My head unit could also play music from USB sources (name hard drives, etc, but strangely not ipods). The unit was able to read from the Fuze since it can mount itself as a storage drive providing access to the microsd card. However, in this mode, I'd have to scroll through songs using the unit's interface, which was not very easy to navigate. Still, I can use the USB port to charge/power devices if I needed to do so.

My Xterra has a Pioneer single din headunit with built-in Bluetooth. A2DP streaming works great, but sometimes sounds a little tinny or washed-out. If you have added a subwoofer to your vehicle then get a headunit with an independent subwoofer level control. Some songs will be very bassy, while others will need some added punch...this can be adjusted very easily especially with a remote-mount bass level knob.
You can also sync your contacts over to the BT headunits and set speed dials as well as picture dials in some cases. My Pioneer replacement will be a double din 7" touchscreen dvd player with BT. Make sure it has plenty of audio controls/adjustments...digital time correction is a nice feature to help balance sound and set stage.
Bluetooth audio questions - probably rookie-level
I want to stream music/podcasts from my phone (Samsung i907) through my car system. I have installed an AUX RCA setup, so I can now do this with a cable and it's pretty solid.
My question is - are the Bluetooth audio receivers out there - usually relatively cheap - compatible with this setup? Is it as simple as plugging a little BT receiver into my RCA jacks, pairing up my phone, and hitting play?
Any advice/recommendations on receivers/etc. is appreciated. Thanks!

I want to use my phone in the car for listening to music in the car over Bluetooth as well as being able to make and receive calls over Bluetooth.
First of all...the stereos don't have mic's...it uses the mic on your phone.
And for car stereo, i use a Sony XNV-770bt...it's awesome.
That's actually not true. Jvc has a stereo that has a mic.
It's the JVC KDR-520 CD receiver and KS-BTA100 Bluetooth adapter. The KS-BTA100 Bluetooth adapter has a built in mic. You can find it on Crutchfield's website.
Currently I'm using Sony MEX-BT2800. Streams audio and calls through car speakers. Has a mic built in the front. I absolutely love it. Costs $160 on Sony's site but you can easily get it from $90~ from eBay refurbished.
my infiniti has one but it kinda sucks cuts out all the bloody time!
I have a 2011 sonata. The standard stereo system includes a mic in the cabin and full blue tooth support for calls and stereo audio streaming. Both work flawlessly with my G2X, first with stock rom and now with EB 2.2

It does just about everything but drive the damn car for you. As far as bluetooth goes, it uses Parrot, so it supports A2DP with full track control, etc... Phonebook, voice dial, it reads text messages to you, audio interrupt, etc etc...
Seriously, this deck does EVERYTHING you could ever want. It has more features and a better UI than a BMW iDrive or the new lexus interface.
Main drawback for most people is that it's double din, and clocks in around $2000.

I would like to use my headphones with a bluetooth microphone or headset. I like my earphones and don't want to go through the wireless A2DP BT to listen to music, but in the same time I would like to have the possibility of a hands-free solution. So my question, is it possible to have the sound output on the earphones and the sound input on the mic of a bluetooth headset (like a clip-on on which I don't connect my earphones)
Is there anybody that can fiddle with his device if he has the proper hardware?

Hello everyone!
I have a DAC connected to the TV, with headphone jack (3.55mm). Up until now - I connect the headphones directly to it, but recently I have been thinking about going Wireless. There's all kind of devices that connect into 3.5mm jack, and broadcast the audio over Bluetooth. That being said, I don't have Bluetooth headphones, and want to keep using the wired headphones (just without running a long cable). I was thinking perhaps using my Android phone as a bridge. Pair my Android device into that Bluetooth Device, and connect the headphones to my Phone. Will that work? I know for sure that android can act as Transmitter (playing Audio from your Phone to remote bluetooth speaker), but can an Audio received from Bluetooth be played into the headphones?
