Is there any script or anything what could change the way the peek display behaves on Moto phones (g42)?
What irritates me about this feature is accidental and random screen wake ups - as peek display is move/shake/pick up dependant,it simply turns on too often....it's to sensitive. Every time I hit the table, or my phone is in a car and there're potholes on the road, the screen lights up. Irritating and disturbing.
In the current form Peek Display is useless and I don't know why Motorola persistingly implements this feature without the ability of configuration.
Would be nice i.e. if the screen turns on each time a notification comes, stays on for some time, shuts off, and then lights up again to remind after some time.
I tried many apps like AOD or NotifyBudyy, but all of these apps have same problem - the use a lot of power, around 5-8% per hour...
Is there any walkaround?

Is there any way to prevent turning off the screen while charging / on cradle?
I need it to see clock 24/7 while my device is charging.
Now if I connect device to the PC it goes standby (while on lock screen, when the time is displayed), even if "screen timeout" is set to never.

you didn't say which device you have, but if it's a focus then avoid this, you will get screen burn in

I too am looking for this solution. Back in WM 5 and 6 we were able to set independent brightness and sleep times while on battery or while plugged in. I am on day 3 with this WP7 phone and am getting frustrated by the "simplification" of so many aspects that I was able to modify in the past.
If it's just the clock you need to see, then you might wanna try Nightclock, which is available for free in the marketplace. It shows a nice clock and has an option for preventing the screen from turning off.
While your lock screen does not require a password (pass number really) an extra menu item is added to the settings/lock&wallpaper/screen timeout drop menu... "never"
But if you require a password to unlock the screen, this "never" option disappears...
Unfortunately for me it is not just the clock.
While docked on my desk I like to keep it open on my SMS conversations to see if anything new has arrived.
While docked in my car on top of the dash, I like to keep it on maps to see if any traffic congestion might be ahead and listening to podcasts. Its rather distracting to keep watching for the screen to go dark and tap it every 5 minutes.

I would like to use Tasker to control screen on/off times based on following conditions:
1) Keep screen on when reading/using mobile:
a)IF SCREEN IS ON: If handset is in vertical position (reading position), either in portrait or landscape depending on orientation set in android then screen should stay on. This would presume mobile is being used.
b) When handset is laid down on table then screen should turn off after 7 secs automatically or when screen is manually turned off.
note: It would be nice to have a window period of 10 secs after screen off wherein if the handset is picked up within that period, (after the initial 7 secs and before another 10 secs) then screen automatically turns on.
2) NOTIFICATIONS
If notifications are received, have a window period of 15-30 secs where if position of android is changed from desk horizontal to vertical then screen automatically comes on without the need to press power button.This presumes we picked up mobile to view the notification event.
Again first rule applies and screen stays on when reading and turns off auto or manually as per first rule
I have tried but not able to configure rules.
One conflict in mind:-
What if mobile is kept in trouser pocket and notifications are received? Here the gyro won't change as it will go from vertical to vertical position....how to deal with that? Also rule 2 should not auto trigger upon receiving notifications, sensing orientation is vertical when in trouser pocket.
Any help?

About the conflict, I think I saw that you can implement a profile that check if your face is in front of the tablet or not (like on S3).
As a personal comment, I would go all way to this aproach: check if you are in front of the camera and decide when to turn screen on.

Hi,
The problem with using the front camera is that it will cause battery drain. The camera would constantly have to keep checking for movement and this would definitely drain battery. I am more inclined to use the gyro for this.
I agree with you, but you can at least double the gyro with camera check. even if it will consume some battery, it will avoid other problems.
Or maybe you can also use the proximity sensor?
Another way I can think is to try and detect the shakes (combination of proximity and gyro). Considering the power of Tasker, I think it can be done.
If you manage to succeed, please let me know. I am also interested in something like this, I just never have the time to build such complex scenarios.

I could not get it to work thats why asking for help.
Has anyone had any issues using either Sleep as Android or Sleepbot? The screen never fully turns off because the accelerometers don't function with the screen off. I'm concerned that leaving the screen on for hours on end will cause pretty substantial burn-in.

Hey there, I actually made SleepBot and we have an option called "Screen Off Tracking" in the Settings which is supported for newer devices like the S3 or Nexus. Motion and sound tracking will still work even if you turn the screen off, but I recommend trying it out for 3-4 minutes first to make sure.
We've been testing on an LG Optimus (one of the older models that doesn't support screen-off tracking and nothing like burn happens. We dim the screen to all black within 10 seconds of tracking in any case. Email me at [email protected] if you have other questions.
I was concerned about burn-in as well and I use Sleep As Android. My solution was to install Dock Clock. It has an option to make the clock move around on the screen which will eliminate any burn-in and it is very easy to read at night.

So, how about development of sleepbot cause the soft is great
So when I charge overnight the screen lights up every time it hits 100% waking my wife and baby up! It goes off after 10 seconds but is there any way to not make it light up?

I've asked the same and haven't found anything yet.
I tend to turn on a screen filter app at night, i use twilight, will dim the screen overnight so its barely visible, then undim it in the morning.

Not without knowing how to unpack/edit and resign/pack system stuff.
This is the sort of thing that custom ROMs take care of for the not so able of us.
Like Jambo, I've worked around this in the past using Tasker and Screen Filter. Just set Tasker to activate a fully black screen filter on top of your screen for a few seconds whenever the phones is sat on a wireless charger. Or reaches a certain battery percentage. And preferably disable it when removing the phone from the charger. Works great.
Screenshot of my setup, that I find gives a good setup and also benefits by keeping the screen wake up off, but the Keep Screen Off option unchecked, meaning when you get a notification the screen comes on and then times out.
Think most including me just ticked every box and didn’t really read what each does (or was that just me) ?
Checking the box means you have to constantly press the button to wake the watch.

this is because when i am busy or in a dark room getting the watch light up is very distracting,
finally no notification is more important that whats happening in real life (for me at least)
