Hi, this is a simple app that I created using tasker.
My Note 3 doesnt have the option to turn off the shutter sound, this is why I made this app.
Originally made for my Samsung Note 3, but I've tried on Samsung Note 2 and it also works.
Basically it just mutes that annoying shutter sound without Root.
Some Samsung devices don't have this option.
Anyways, don't have a good icon yet but once I do have a good icon I'll post in in playstore as well.
Anyone has a good icon?
Now it only works for Stock Camera app.
How It works:
If you launch your camera, it will mute your phone, if you exit the camera application it will restore the sound of your phone.. that simple.
Disclaimer:
- In some places, muting your camera shutter isn't permitted. Please obey local laws.
By installing Camera Mute, you agree that the author of the application will not be held responsible in any actions that you make.

Hear a small beep sound after you exit the camera application?
What Camera Mute does is it mutes your phone when you are running the camera application, and it unmutes the phone when you exit.
When you put your phone on silent mode then put it back to normal mode you will hear a small beep. Its the same beeping sound that you will hear when you exit your camera. This is due to how Android was designed. As of now, I don't know if its possible to mute that sound as well without ROOT access. Please don't post that Camera Mute doesn't work in case you hear that sound. I've designed the application to silence the shutter, and nothing more.
Doesn't work for you? Read this part
- If this app doesn't work for you, you can help me out by sending me the camera app name and package name.
1) Download the app called ApkSpy by ido, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115021
2) Drop your camera apk file and send me a screenshot or the name of the app name and package name.
or send me the apk file please email it to [email protected]
In order to get the apk file from your phone I use an awesome tool name Apk Share & Backup by KN Inc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kayan.nurav.apkshare&hl=en
This app was done using Tasker, please support Tasker by Crafty Apps.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en
Limitations:
Some phones doesn't turn off the camera shutter even if you put the phone on silent. If that's the same case with your phone then there is no way that Camera Mute will work.

Update: 11/03/2013
New version will be out soon. I can't do anything about the beep sound when your phone unmutes, however I can delay it. I have updated the program (soon to be released) now it has a counter. You will have the option to change the seconds on when the phone unmutes. Its the only workaround I can think of right now. Would anyone be interested in that feature? Example I have the counter set to 5seconds, so after you exit the camera app, it will take 5 seconds before you will hear that beep sound.
thanks works great on my VZ N3! Exactly what I was looking for! Cheers!:good::good:
App updated, now supports Lenovo's Super Camera and Huawei's Stock Camera.
It works on my S3. Thank you.
Edit: the only problem is it beeps when you exit out of camera app. Not exactly a complete silence. LOL Perhaps you can fix that...

That sound isn't from the application. Its the default sound samsung makes when you unmute/unsilent your phone. Im not sure if I can do anything about it but I will check.
It doesn't work at all on my Gn3 (N9005, stock not rooted) :\ Is there anything special to do ?

Sadly, it did not work with my Sprint Galaxy S3.
Thanks for this awesome tweak Glen!
Does the job nicely, thanks!
Works on my Sprint S4. This will do until I feel need to root this mja 4.3 update.
Confirmed working on S4 i9500 International with 4.2.2. Thanks for the app .
Works with Note3 Exynos
Thank you!

did you install the previous version? if so, kindly uninstall that one first.
If not, can you install APK files? make sure you can install APK files, go to Settings -> Security -> Check "Unknown source".

Hey fellas/gals,
I am new to the Android scene. Coming from Apple. I have a few questions maybe you can help me with. Right now I am using the Pixel XL but I might need to switch to the S8 if the Pixel can't do it.
1. Can the Pixel allow you to circle or annotate after you take a screenshot? I don't seem to see that option but I am told the S8 Galaxy can allow you to write and edit the photo after you screenshot.
2. Can you change themes like the S8 can on the Pixel?
3. Can the Pixel take photos of things like Bixby and tell you what it is or show you similar photos?
Thank you for your help. I went with the Pixel because I was told by Verizon it has a much smoother and fluid feel than the S8 since it comes straight from Google. But I can't make up my mind. I really want the features above and I am hoping the Pixel can do it!
Thanks!

First of, welcome to XDA and hope you enjoy your trip with us -and your pixel too-!
1.Yes it does, to do so:
Open the screen that you want to capture.
Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time for a few seconds. Your device will save the screen as an image.
At the top of the screen, you'll see the Screenshot capture Screenshot.
Tip: If you don't see the Screenshot capture icon, return to a Home screen to see it.
3.once you are there hit the edit option
Or you may do it from the gallery ir self
2. Surely you can
To do that:
On your phone's Home screen, touch and hold an empty space.
Tap Wallpapers
Or
From the settings page, find “Sound and Display” and then select on Wallpaper.
Or
Choose it from the gallery app
3.it has Google assistant instead,Bixby supports inputs from the camera and the company's browser,it seems that google is still working on that (check the last long in refs),However "Google Now on Tap" can accomplish similar results by performing a search based on what’s currently on your screen.

Let's face it. Samsung is known for tossing in everything but the kitchen sink. Sometimes the features stick. Sometimes they're complete duds. List some of the features you actually use that you wouldn't find in stock Android
Something I've found very useful is the edge panel smart select. For instance if something's in a language I don't understand. Select rectangular, highlight the text I want. Hit Bixby vision and it gets translated. Or an item I want to purchase it will recognize it. It's actually quite good
The option to make volume controls control media by default. Something I wish stock Android would adopt because 90% of the time when I want to turn the volume down or up its media. So I like that I can make that the primary control

I have try this but I can't find a way to do it.... I'm stuck in the step where you "Hit Bixby vision and it gets translated"
I can't find a way to open Bixby vision... the only thing that I can do when with smart selection I have selected the text is to save the text as photo...
I thought the Bixby button was the kitchen sink?

There is no eye icon or I'm missing something... Look at the screen shot... The word "ΤΕΛΟΣ" means "Finish" and that save the text as a photo... There isn't any icon of vision eye in all this procedure!
I'm using a text from opera browser and I try the same with a text from a photo... The same thing...

Did u actually enable the whole bixby vision service? Where u have to install it and "allow" for permissions. Pretty sure its in camera app. Then once bixby vision is good to go u should be able to use it in smart select/other places
I think the size of your selection matters. I was trying to pull a tracking number my wife sent. The first time I selected just the number. No bixby vision option. I selected more area and the option appeared.
Something else I noticed really cool is that pin to screen option. OMG so usful.

Thanks for sharing!
great, confirm working on my pixel 2, no root, updated my pixel cam app.

Is there a working Gcam for the Ultra? Is it even needed for the Ultra with its Samsung capabilities?
Why would you use GCam when Samsung has done a terrific job on their camera? You also lose a lot of features of the Ultra with GCam.

I mean, you don't LOSE anything. You use GCam as a secondary camera app. Not as a replacement for the stock app.

So far I'm actually not too impressed with the stock Samsung camera on the Ultra and I'm coming from the S10+. The pictures are pretty splotchy and not too sharp especially when zooming in. Something that seems to have been consistent on all Samsung phones which is why I normally see better results using the Gcam. Also this camera seems to lag when taking a photo after hitting the button theres an annoying delay where I cant really clearly capture anything moving even slightly. I'm hoping they release some software updates for this. I'm using the US Snapdragon Unlocked Ultra 256gb variant on VZW.

Exynos or Snapdragon? I had a chat with a guy who has the S22U Exynos, and the AGC GCam crashes for him as well. Strange as it works fine on my S21U (also Exynos). I guess a specific fix is needed for the Exynos 2200

Ok so I played with it again at Best Buy today. The reason why it's a little difficult to work right out of the box with GCam is because current GCam builds use the traditional hardware camera IDs whereas the S22 Ultra defaults to logical IDs (like the new Pixel 6).
With that said, I got it working with the Shamin 8.4.400v7 build by adjusting the camera array values. Here are the steps:
1. Download and Install APK
2. Download attached XML and put it in the Internal Storage > GCam > Configs8.4 folder (make the folder if you don't already have it)
3. Run the GCam and give it permissions (it will crash after a few seconds)
4. Run the app again but quickly switch to video mode to avoid it crashing quickly
5. Open GCam's settings and go to additional settings > configs setting > XML save directory
6. Don't change the directory but just hit OK
7. Go back to the main screen and switch to video again so it doesn't crash
8. Double tap on space between shutter and gallery to load XML

Gcam is usefull especially indoor, because with the native app, it's a mess. Shutter lag is strongly present.

One other question - Is there a way to get the saturation to be a bit less? The color saturation is pretty extreme in certain shots and some shots have a yellowy tint to them too. I've been trying to play around with the color and saturation settings but cant seem fix it. Otherwise the shots look great!

In my case, oversaturation is caused by AWB (auto white balance) for some reason. So I keep it disabled.
Try taking a picture with AWB enabled, then another one with it disabled.

For saturation, go to additional settings > color transmission and change it to system. It could potentially become desaturated using that mode.
