I really dislike to dismiss lock screens. The Z Flip series allows to keep the phone unlocked without having to worry about accidental button presses. Unfortunately, to use commuter cards or credit cards, the phone must have a lock screen and even with smart lock 'unlocking' the phone there remains a 'swipe' lockscreen. For credit cards I find the lockscreen requirement reasonable but my commuter card can just as easily be stolen as my phone. How would I get around the lock screen requirement (or the swipe unlock after smart unlock)?

There are pin number lockscreens and pattern lockscreens. What about a pattern lockscreen that is actually a pin lockscreen? Think about having 9 dots on the screen, each one representing a different number. You can program your pin number and use it to unlock your phone. If your phone is ever lost or stolen, the person will think it's a pattern lockscreen and try different swipe combinations when it's really button presses. Also, since you don't swipe it open, you don't need to worry about oily smudges giving away your pattern.
On the flip side, you can make a screen with 9 numbers on it and the way to unlock is actually a swipe pattern.
That's sounds cool. I wouldn't mind trying that out when someone comes out with it. I could be a test subject haha.
Sent from my HTC EVO Phone, should'nt we all have one?
I was wondering if there was any way to accomplish any of the following:
1. Prevent power menu access while screen is locked
2. Prevent widgets from being deleted or moved around while screen is locked
Also - what level of protection, if any is the lock screen? Why is there an encrypt phone option if the lock screen is secure? I guess what confuses me the most is how iPhones are encrypted if they have a screen lock so the separation of the two is confusing me on android.
Thanks!
If you set a PIN lock you cannot do anything with the widgets other than take a picture, leave the camera on, and if you have google music identifier use that but that is it.
It took iPhone two or three updates to secure their lockscreen on their "innovative" iOS 7
Screen Lock
Create a pin code then any one no touched with your any file.
Or install finger print app to lock it..

Encrypting your files and locking your device are two completely different things and are handled individually.
So I'm just realizing this. But my S8+ looks too easy to unlock if all I have to do is swipe the screen. At first I had a pattern and when I swipe my screen I was able to put in the pattern. Then when I use the finger print the screen swipe still came up with the pattern (if I didn't feel like using the fingerprint scan.) But now I'm using the iris scan and the screen swipe instantly unlocks my phone without bringing up the pattern. And I feel as though if someone had my phone they can easily get into my phone. So is there a way to disable the screen swipe? And yes I check I have the pattern on but it doesn't show at all with the iris scanner on and off.
So for years I have used nova launcher and had a simple swipe up on the home screen to lock my device. I got my S10 the other week and continued to use it. I didn't set up face recognition because I am fairly happy with fingerprint unlock.
With face recognition turned off, a swipe up on the home screen locks the screen (turns it off entirely) as it always did. However I tried turning face unlock on today and it's pretty cool. BUT now when I swipe up to lock, I am left with a lock screen rather than a black screen. worth noting that pressing the lock button does turn the screen off entirely. But I have my lock gesture for a reason! I now have to disable face unlock because I insist on locking with a gesture, and it effectively isn't locking the phone.
This is probably a fairly unique problem but if anyone else has experienced this and/or knows a workaround I'd love to hear from you.
Cheers

You could If you use Nearby Location for Home or a trusted device, but I don't remember a way to bypass totally this
