hi, anybody know a cheap 4g/5g modem dongle upto 1gbps.
seems hard to find which is odd as you can use your phone to do this, im guessing they really dont want people using there data plans as broadband, i live in the country so my 5g 100gb/month £5/month deal is a saviour as 1mbps broadband is not fun.

Hi people,
I am really hoping some one can help me.
I am on Wednesday going to a part of the world where wireless internet is still very slow. However, I have found a service which offers Wireless Broadband speeds upto 3.1Mbps using CDMA technology. Link http://www.ptcl.com.pk/contentb.php?NID=199
Now being in the UK, I have no idea about CDMA technology or how it operates. I have at my disposal the following equipment. I just want to know if I will be able to get online using the equipment I have or will I need to buy their dongle priced at Rs 3,999
1. Dell D630 with built in Dell 5530 WWAN card (UMTS)
2. Huawei E160 usb dongle (unlcoked). Is this GSM only?
3. A sony vaio laptop from the US, which says 'Sprint Wireless Broadband ready' on it. I have not found a slot to insert a sim card into it.
Does anybody know if the CDMA Wireless Broadband will require a sim card? Please help me.
Anyone? Please help. I am off in less than 48 hours and can do with some help. Thanks in advance.
Hello ,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S . My carrier never had a 3G network .. so ive never really felt what its like to use a smartphone to its full potential .
And just a week ago they introduced HSPA+ . Now i have a couple of questions , since this wireless technology is evolving too fast for me to catch up with :
- HSPA+ is 4g ? 3.5g ?
- Does my phone support it ? to my understandings , i can connect to it but not at full speeds (21Mbps)
- Is that good news for me ? i mean they skipped 3g and launched HSPA+ ? should i be happy with that ?
Excuse my noobness ,
Cheers !
Your speeds will depend on your network and possibly your data plan.
Different carriers use different "bands" for high-speed data and the SGS may or may not support your carrier's band. T-Mobile, for example, uses the "AWS" band, which is not the same that, for example, AT&T uses.
If your data plan doesn't allow access to the APN that supports HDPSA+ then you won't have access to those speeds, even if your phone has a compatible radio.
There is a lot of specs-manship and marketing hype about what is and what isn't 4G.
On my SGS4G I am seeing over 4 Mbps down and over 1.5 Mbps up with T-Mobile in the San Francisco Bay area. I've only tested one location (that has mediocre signal levels), so it may be better elsewhere.
As the title says I don't want to have to carry around a 3g dongle or mifi router with me all the time and I wont get enough if I sold my Wifi only to buy a 3g version. Would it be possible to retrofit a 3g modem into a non wifi version?
There was some talk about it here.

T-Mobile offers $30 add a line SIM service meant for cell phones on their unlimited 4G data phone plans. But I would like to install this SIM in an unlocked Rogers LTE Aircard 330U, which supposedly supports the 1700/2100 frequencies (Bands 4 and ?) used by T-Mobile for their LTE service.
If I used this setup with my laptop at home as a hotspot, I could get rid of my cable TV and internet service and use the hotspot for unlimited internet. And T-Mobile's network would recognize the device as a phone?
Is this feasible?
Thus far, other than using the unproven iOS7 jailbreak on my iPhone 5S, I haven't found a cheaper way to get high-speed internet and TV (TV via streaming) at home. The next cheapest option is keeping cable internet and canceling TV service.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
By the way, what is the lowest Mbps plan I should purchase if I decide to keep cable internet, that will allow good quality and consistent live video streaming?
Thanks in advance...
I activated an S2 tablet on a $20 unlimited plan through ATT. Then I put that same SIM into a Netgear LM1200 modem
Everything is working fine except the speed. Both my work-provided hotspot (different sim) and my LM1200 are using the ATT Broadband APN and only get about 20Mbps down. But on my S20+ phone (different sim) using 'enhancedphone' APN I get 100Mbps down
It's worth noting that if I try to use this APN with my lm1200 it won't connect. Can anyone help me understand why my Phone and hotspots see drastically different speeds? Is it all because of the APN? If so, could I work around this by 'repairing' the IMEI on my modem to match a similar Samsung S20 so that the carrier would allow those higher speeds?
There is a good amount I do not understand about how carriers split traffic and determine speeds, so I am appealing to the experts here.
I have a dual wan wired router, using spectrum cable as the primary. So I'm only looking for LTE to be a backup during an outage. But I'd like to have around 100Mbps if possible
