Question which app is yellow-box? - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

long pressing on yellow box then settings it said Google Play Services
Strangely, I get this notification when I connect my Sony bluetooth earbuds.
I don't get this notification when I connect my newer Bose bluetooth earbuds.

Not the green box.
The yellow box.
If I long press on the green box, it opens the Sony app. Thats fine.
The yellow box appears to be a google play services app.
Question is, why don't I get the yellow box when using my Bose bluetooth headset.

Try temporarily disabling Google play Services and see what happens. Does the Bose have software loaded, an app, like Wearables?

Is it loaded with all permissions enabled?
Some special permissions maybe needed in Settings>Accessibilities.
Or Android 12 or 13 may not be playing nice... so much security bs now it's more of a menace* than malware. See if there's an updated version. Contact Bose tech support if all else fails.
I just play with it and do Google searches, Samsung members forum has solutions sometimes too. Eventually I sort issues out. There's a sort of rythm and reason to Samsung Android, most times it's not as hard as it seems at first.
Google apps though can be invasive bloody little nightmares. I normally keep Google play Services disabled unless needed... and gain at least 1%@hr SOT, it adds up. Samsung apps and system apps run fine without it, at least on my N10+'s Android 9 and 10.
*scoped storage especially. Click something once why do it again?! Very annoying.

Nothing in accessibilities to give Bose.
Went into Bose app, it had access to:
location
nearby devices
notifications
didn't have access to :
music and audio (because I use the bose for calls only - not for audio)
photos and videos
For sake of trying, i gave Bose access to both above
Lets see

It certainly doesn't need access to photos...
However Samsung Wearables would run unless you grant all its many permissions. Something that's invasive and shouldn't be necessary.
Bose may be the same way... not good.
Bixby is by far the worst offender, who in their right mind would trust Samsung servers now? They can't even protect their own company files

It is Android communicating to you the battery level of the Bluetooth connected devices. Bose don't use the standard protocol...and therefor don't show up. With Bose...you use the app.

thank you!

It is probably beacuse that information / notification is being OS fetched.

[APP][4.0+] Spoticast - Spotify for Chromecast

I just decided to release this to the public. It uses your credentials to make a separate connection to Spotify while listening to media broadcast events sent from the android Spotify client. When one is received it makes a request via the connection for the required metadata and track data. It is then forwarded to your Chromecast to be played. There is a slight delay and a few bugs here and there but overall should be stable enough for a public release. Keep in mind it has not been tested externally until now. You must have a Spotify premium account and you must enable "Device Broadcast Status" in Spotify!
I have no affiliation with Spotify. I think they are a great company who provide a great service but I do not approve of their choice to exclude support for Chromecast. So here it is.

Brilliant! Been waiting for an app like this, over the moon it's finally here.
One question - Spotify on my device continues to play the tracks, and having to turn the volume down/off is less than ideal... any suggestions?

ATM there is no real solution as we can't control Spotify to mute just it. So you must turn down the volume on the media channel of your device.
Thank you, it works like a charm

Your screenshot doesn't show up for me. If you have G+ you can get quicker responses over at "Spoticast Support" community rather than here. Sorry, I don't check the thread that often.
Do you plan to release the source code of Spoticast?
I started Spoticast and my RAZR Maxx (4.1.2) immediately rebooted. I did not have a song playing at the time though. I tried it again with a song playing and it did not reboot the device. Thank you for your work on this application, it is wonderful!
It's a really nice, the app, but unfortunately it doesn't play continuously on my phone.
It's intermittent, sometimes after one song, 2, 3... I notice that the spotify keeps playing the next music but the chromecast stucks on the art album of last music and doesn't plays anything.
So I need to switch back to spoticast, it shows "loading" I select my chromecast again, it connects, switch back to spotify and play any song of the list.
So it seems that the spoticast looses the connection witht the chromecast for any reason.
Don't know if this matters, but just in case, I use a xperia zl.
Regards
I installed this on my Nexus 5 yesterday and have been using it without any problems. Went to install it on my Nexus 7 tonight, and it's not available in the Play Store (USA) any longer. Checked again on my N5, and no results either. The link in the OP goes to a page saying the item doesn't exist any more. So it was taken out of the Play Store between yesterday and today?

So, @Chainfire was kind enough to drop root on us today.
That means all bets are off. I got a Nexus Player early because I am a big HTPC enthusiast, as well as an avid Android Tweaker. I live to rip apart my OS and tailor it like a weird suit only I could love.
So, just flashed CF's rootboot, and it worked wonderfully. Given that I can now not only decompile and recompile lollipop APK's at will and modify system files...well...we can do anything.
For starters, I definitely want to make Google Play Movies uninstallable. I have Plex and a ton of content, and I don't want to have google movie suggestions cluttering up my screen. So let's make a script that can dump it to /data. Hell, toss music over there too.
How about re-ordering the home screen so the apps we want take first slots...not google's stuff.
I'm sure we can also have some more fun. If the bootloader is insecure, we can unpack the boot image, add init.d support and maybe tune some of Google's stock settings...see if we can get it to render HD content a little snappier.
So yeah. Hello everybody with a Nexus Player. I'm Digitalhigh. I've tried to do awesome things for people who have had the Evo 3D, M7, M8, and a few other random devices, and now I'm going to take a crack at the Nexus Player.
Let me know if you have any other ideas you'd like to see materialized.
Sounds good!
I think my number one pet peeve is not being able to re-arrange the apps how I see fit (even the "bump to the front the apps you use most" feature as google supposedly designed isn't working). I'd actually love to have a "pinned" row above all others with my favorite shortcuts, in the order I want them.
A close second fix would be the ability to surface non-TV optimized apps directly on the main interface, on a per app basis.
I love that the NP is now open for business.
Anyway we can get it setup so we can select the output resolution and possibly adjust for overscan. Also see if we can get some surround sound support. Seems that only google play movies outputs dolby digital.

Same here! I just did my first bit of system magic, completely obliterating play movies and tv, just to make sure the system wasn't dependent on it somehow. It's not, and I'm happy.
I will do a pull of /data, go through the XML and db's and see what settings are available to us. It'd either be in /data, or maybe a default settings bit somewhere in the UI apk that sets the default layout.
For adding non-TV apps to home menu...I forget the name, but there is an android APK out there that will let you link to specific activities in an app and make a shortcut for it on the home of launcher...I wonder if it would work with this.

Again, I'll look at what settings are available. I'll also pull down the factory image for it and see what we have available there. Just because we don't have an installer for it, doesn't mean we can't flash custom software and stuff through bootloader...kinda similar to my Rockchip RK808 android on a stick.
Oh, and I know it's a pain...but get the plexpass for a month or two. The plex for plex pass app works BEAUTIFULLY with this. I know it sucks having to pay, but versus sideloading the regular apk...it's so gorgeous...and it integrates into the home screen and searches. Only beef with it is that it's a bit laggy over AC for 1080...can't wait for my OTG cable and USB hub w. integrated NIC.
Edit: Oh, and it was sending 5.1 audio to the stereo.

So excited! I wish I knew more so I could help. I'm still just figuring how to setup the android sdk lol. But anyways, I guess what I'd like to see are my own apps in the home screen and all of the content at the top that Google shoves in our faces removed. If there's anything I can do to help get all of this awesomeness going just hit me up! ?
I sideloaded the plex apk from my logitech revue. It has the android tv interface. I dont know how up to date it is compared to thr plex pass version. But it works. But its only outputting 2.0 audio. According to the plex forum its because it uses the internal android player. That doesnt support surrounf sound.

Looking forward to whatever else you may be able to come up with regards to customization.
I had to RMA my original unit, so I am waiting to get the new one before I root.

[Q] Sound+Videos+Phone Calls Broken / Should I root?

First off, I'm sorry if this is a duplicate.. I've searched as hard as I can but I don't see any other threads that fit my issue.
My stock, unrooted Google Pixel (from the Play Store, pre-ordered) is currently experiencing a meltdown after I created a new profile on the phone for a 6 year old girl to play games on it. I've factory wiped the phone from the Backup & Reset menu but the issue persisted through a reset. I've been looking at the possibility of rooting the phone and flashing a stock image to see if that helps, but I'm asking for help first to see if anyone has any ideas. The phone has been great for me, I've had no camera flares, no lag or overheating issues, no sound issues. It's been a great phone which is why I've tried to avoid rooting it. The phone still seems to be in perfect working order, but no sound from headphone jack, earphone, or any other, and no videos will play.
Symptoms:
-Can't play music. Spotify loads and acts like it's playing but no sound comes out (headphones and speakers both)
-Can't play videos: Youtube error:There was a problem while playing, Facebook videos freeze, downloaded MP4's in the stock Photo's app also freeze. GIF's will play, but no videos
-Can't make phone calls, speaker or otherwise. It won't play any sounds at all. The phone app seems to work, but no sound.
-Alarms are muted, although they still cause vibrations if I set it in my alarm app
-Basically: no sound, no videos. Period.

What works:
Everything else. Texting, data, games, camera, etc. Bluetooth, Wifi, and NFC all seem to work as well.
Cause:
I created a second profile secured by a six year old child's fingerprint so she could use my phone freely. I installed 3 games, as well as Youtube Kids, and nothing else. When she started the games, no sound would play. I switched back to my main profile and realized I had left it in Do Not Disturb mode which somehow carried over to the child's profile, even though do not disturb wasn't on in the child's profile. I went to sleep that night, and woke up to find my phone vibrating instead of a ringtone for my alarm. Then it got stuck in a bootloop for a bit when I turned the alarm off. It eventually stopped restarting and the above symptoms have been permanent for the last day and a half.
I'm having the same issue but I think it's due to the Android 7.1.2 update that came today.

Good to know I'm not the only one then. I've been running the update for over a week with no issues though, so I still wonder why it happened out if the blue like that.
Just wanted to post an update to this to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.
I got a security update today of about 64mb. When it installed and restarted my phone, sound magically came back. YouTube videos started working as well. But for some reason Snapchat videos wouldn't record sound. So I rebooted my phone and now it's broken again.. No sound, no videos.
Any ideas??
Stock Pixel, straight from Google (pre-ordered), on Sprint
If this was happening to me, I would unlock the bootloader and flash a factory image.
while these may seem like a software issue due to erratic behavior, its a known hardware issue. contact google or your carrier for a replacement depending on where you got your phone from.

I just read about this too. I have the intermittent issue as well. Most of the time, no sound when recording video from my phone or in phone calls. With bluetooth headset or wired to android auto in my car, usually works.
Did anyone find a fix? I am just now experiencing the sames issues as op. Cannot record video, cannot hear the other person on calls, spotify seems to work but no audio comes out from my phone...

General Work profile notifications are not working

Other than the Wear Os app the Galaxy wearables app does not see work profile apps and will not push their notifications. Let's see if that gets fixed at some point.
if you have a samsung phone and use the secure folder as work profile, you can choose if you want the apps to be notified or not

Seeing the same thing. None of my work app notifications from employer show on the watch
I think this is another "only works on Samsung" thing.
I had this problem on my oneplus phone. Switched to a Samsung and it was working fine. (that was the experience I had on previous generation wear os and Tizen watches at least)
Yeah, it'd be nice if there was some sort of workaround for this. Even just as simple as bridging notifications without allowing actions on the Watch would be more useful than the current lack of anything.
It's also sort of odd, looking at the notification settings in the Wearable app shows that it does see that there was a notification coming from that app (gmail, calendar, etc.) even if it was a work profile notification, but won't allow the work profile apps to be synced on anything other than a samsung phone.

Yes I observers the same, I tried to bridge the notification by some apps but not working, You got any luck with Bridging? Also DUO Mobile app was working awesome with Andriod OS 2, But it isn't working here... Looks like Tizen thing is preventing it.
I've got a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic connected to a Not 20 Ultra. When I check in the Galaxy Wearables app, and go into Settings > Notifications and then hit "More" under "Most recent on phone or watch" I get a list of all personal and work profile apps sending notifications.
All Work profile apps and Duo Mobile had been se to "Off" by default. I've turned them on. We'll see how it goes...
{ETA: Success! Duo (via personal) and Slack (via Work) are sending notifications to the watch! I can't act on Duo except via the Phone, though, so not sure how useful that part actually is.}

Yeah, it seems like work profile works when paired to a samsung device, but not anything else, which is unfortunate.
Hey guys, I was facing the same issue of work-profile notifications not being visible on my galaxy watch 4, so I created an app to solve it. Please give it a try: WorkNotifier.
It's completely local, secure, and open-source. The link to code can be found on the play-store listing itself.

Question How can I stop battery drain on "screen off"?

I'm happy with the battery performance, but only when the screen is on. When I use the phone mostly with the screen on, I get good SOT(6-9 hours), but with the screen off, the battery consumption is terrible. How can I pull this down?
Probably a cloud app; try temporarily disabling Google play Services, Google backup is a dependency as is Playstore, Gmail. Some apps also need it to run. I enable it once or twice a day. Disabled saves 1+%@hr.
Trashware social media apps like fb, WhatsApp etc shouldn't be installed. It all adds up.
6 hours SOT with a 5002 mAh battery isn't good, 9 hrs is fair to poor. That said all Samsung's should be optimized for best performance.
Thanks for your opininon. Are you saying we shouldn't use Whatsapp? Is it real solution?
Unfortunately, because of SD 8 gen 1 limitations (probably worse on Exynos variant), about 6-7 hours SOT is best you're going to get on the S22 ultra.
Try the following guide here & see if it helps your battery life.
I have the Exynos version. My phone has a SOT of about 10 to 12 hours. Rooted and bebloated. I do have the brightness very low though.
Android 13.
OneUI 5.
Latest.
Lightly debloated.
That's interesting. I guess depends on what apps the phone is using during SOT.......
Mind sharing your battery usage breakdown screenshot?

Real as it gets. All social media apps should never be installed. Many should even be logged on to. WhatsApp track record is stunningly bad.
Lots of users means its got a huge bullseye on it even if they try to secure it, it will hacked again like the sun rises in the morning... for sure. Meanwhile phishing scams run under the radar and count on you screwing up. And many do.
You got to ask yourself one question,

No really. The problem is that all the apps developed by Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp) are power hogs. Meta does not care if it chews up battery. The primary reason is that Meta is shoving ads in your face. Even when your screen is off, those apps are running in the background. Meta is not the only offender. There are plenty of other app developers that do the same thing.
Also, there are different "flavors" of Android. Each OEM implements it differently (even within the OEMs). This makes it less cost effective to customize their apps for each OEM. There is only one flavor of iOS and iPadOS, so it is much easier to tweak it for iPhones and iPads than it is for Android devices.
I understand. Thanks. I have another question. You said you turned off google play services. When I turn it off, notifications do not work and many applications do not work. How do you overcome this situation?

It doesn't effect any notifications for me that I use except Gmail. Most my apps run without it. I tend to shun those that do.
Some of the Samsung apps take the place of Google apps, no need to run both.
If killing Google play Services helps at night it's likely Google backup Transport running.
Hello, I have something to ask about. I need to know if there is any ability to store a system application variables usin adb. Imagine that I want to open my settings app and do something mabye a confirmation dialog will be shown in order to say something such as alert for something supposed that I did click on OK, i the normal case this alert will never be shown even if you clear the settings app data or clear the cash, is there any way to use adb to store the settings app data before opening it the if anything as the previous senario happened I can restore the settings app to the moment before clicking on the OK button or even before this alert has shown

Many apps that "need" Google play Services are Playstore pay apps. This can be circumvented by first allowing the app to activate, then firewall blocking their internet connection. Firewall block Playstore as well although it should be disabled except when needed.
If an app doesn't need internet access to function it should be firewall blocked anyway.
