Question Photography Pro Video - Sony Xperia 5 III

I've been using an Xperia with Photography Pro for about three years and this is, hands down, the best video about Photography Pro I've ever seen. It's 34 minutes long but you'll know pretty quickly whether or not it's worth your time. I enjoyed it and learned a few things.

[Q] Camera performance - stabilization

Hello folks
I've got some questions regarding camera. As far I know it is overhyped already, however I'd like to give it a chance.
I made contact with staff of OPO and one of them said there is NO stabilization (any type - no optical, no digital), the second guy told me there is stabilization.
It seems devs don't know what they are doing there so I wanna ask you, some of you have phone and can help me out in decision - either OPO or LG G3 or Sony Xperia Z2.
Is there video stabilization? So far I've seen videos - they shake much, my old Galaxy S II produces this like movies and this is 3 years old device!
For how long 4K recording lasts? On most phones there is limitation - either time or size. Example LG G3 there is limit of 5 minutes, Xperia Z2 turns off because of heating (but undervolting helps to make video longer). Galaxy S5 has limitation of 4-5 minutes. How is OPO?
I've seen night shots not too spectacular and blurry...
SO far most impressed I am with Z2 camera, especially stabilization. It is digital one but is really great. There are some cons, loss of details in this camera but can be somehow corrected.
But price..... OPO 300 EUR, Z2 500 EUR.
Cheers!

Mate 30 Pro is NOT king of camera

Hi to all ?
First of all I have P30 Pro, and last my 2 phones was Mate 20cand P20 Pro. Because thay all are great phones and great camera. So I search new phone with much better camera, don't get me wrong P30 Pro is best in the market for photography but not for video. So I'm searching something good for both. The only thing what can it be is Mate 30 Pro (that what was I aspect).
But in the beginning wierd thing is, they put just Ultra wide angle camera for videography. (this phone spouses to have best video camera, Huawei said that. Every day in every news you can read this). So they put in Mate 30 Pro special sensor for videography. That's sounds good, but results is not good at all. And they put the smallest "ultra wide angle camera in market for now"!!! Sorry DXO Mark, I can't agree with you this time.
I will post some videos down and I will like to hear your comments.
P. S. I know this is not final software on M30P, and I hope someone will make again new video comparison after final software.
1. Mate 30 Pro vs IPhone 11
2. Mate 30 Pro vs P30 Pro
After these videos I really don't know what to say... ? M30P is very good phone, but camera is even not better then P30 Pro.
I would wait until the phone has been released to the public to make allegations. It's hard when only peeps on YouTube have review devices.
I agree with you completely. I've been waiting for this phone to trade my P30 pro for 2 major reasons....the video quality and the damn color balance.
Unfortunately BOTH will not be addressed. Video quality looks on par with flagships now (especially considering with shooting at a much wider field of view) but at the sacrifice of ultra wide angle!! 18mm? seriously? People need ultra wide angle to capture MORE and they they reducing it from 16mm to 18 mm here!
Also the same sensor without color corrections means I'm stuck with the same color inconsistencies like on my P30 pro. White balance is a joke and 3/4 pics are different, skin tones all unnatural and heavy.
I was seriously planning on sourcing this but as you said, it is by no means king of Camera and far from DXO high horse ratings.
...and I still don't know why they never added auto HDR
The mate 30 pro released early than Huawei expected, most of those early reviews on YouTube are not final version, Dxomark had the latest close to final build installed, according to Huawei CEO thats not the final version, let see the future update... I'll say wait for P40 if you looking for camera big improvement that's what P series focused.
Actually, P series is always the master of camera. Then Mate series. if you want better camera, wait for p40 pro, want better quality and performance, buy mate 30 pro
i just watched the dxomark youtube mate 30 pro video. video quality was very high compare to youtubers . there was a compare in 5lux with note 10 plus. it was clear the winner was mate 30 pro. maybe it needs some patch to software. lets see the final product software then talk. Huawei claimed mate 30 pro it is best in video.

Yes in low light, but video is not so good like Samsung. It have problem with dinamic range, like phones with 300 eur price.

Agreed. They just can't do video well
Video better after updates. Can't see choppines while panning left and right anymore
Agreed, video recording seems miles better than what I got from before. I've already had 4 system updates since unboxing the phone last week.

I ditched my P30 Pro for the Note 10 the moment they announced the Mate 30 Pro and confirmed that it will have an RYYB sensor.
The color science is god awful on this sensor, it's way inconsistent, and makes the skin of my kids look pale and dull. My Mate 20 Pro took much better pictures, with vibrant pleasing colors. The night mode on the P30 Pro was also useless, due to the RYYB sensor, the phone would try to correct the colors and 10/10 times, I'll have a green cast all over my pictures.
Even with Google play services, and a much cheaper price, I wouldn't have got this phone, no more RYYB sensors for me.

Same to me. I sell my P30 Pro. Really I can't believe my self. But it was very good price. And I buy Note 10 Plus. I didn't regret. Camera us much better in daylight and indoors. But in no low light but no problem for that, Gcam can fix it

Nothing can beat the P30 Pro and Mate 30 Pro in complete darkness, but honestly, how many times do you take pictures in extremely dim areas? It was a fun trick to try the 1st few days after buying the P30 Pro, but then it was something that I barely used.

Yap, thats is it.
Is red tint problem(in low light) + light bulb artifact has been fixed?
Tint+Color shift+Artifact are problem since P30pro using RYYB.
I'm very confused why they still use RYYB If they can't fix it

You just posted 2 videos as evidence while ignoring alot of other videos out there. BiG bRaIn move right here.
-Green cast only ocurred if you used nightmode, the thing is you get the same result minus green cast with full automode.
-Color Science its way better than the Mate 20 pro.
Having owned both and since updates have arrived it's 100% better than all those phones.
Now I have both Mate 30 pro & Note 10+.. So far I noticed that the mate 30 pro doesn't have auto focus on front cam, my face gets blurry when I take a selfie at a distance of below 50cm from the phone. It sucks for me, or maybe bec I already get used with my Note 10+ which gives me more detail on selfie either close up or not. Why Huawei never fixed it since P30 Pro I think or even earlier.
I'm impressed with the 7680 frames per second in Slow motion video.
Very impressed with the overall photography and video capture of my M30P.
Weekly updates almost once every week on my CN M30P just make it better and better. I have a strong feeling it blows the stock firmware out of the water too.

Mate 30 Pro video quality

Hello all,
I'm considering to buy Mate 30 Pro, but i'm worried about video quality in 4k mode. Something changed in new firmwares? Youtube videos discourage from buying this phone - videos looks blurry. What's your opinions?
Greetings
Miles better than the P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro. Stabilization is better, there's less stutter/jitter when panning around it captures more detail. All these firmware updates have made such a massive difference in the video capture capabilities of M30P.
The only area it is definitely a bit weak in is low light video capture. It's not bad, but could be better - iPhone 11 seems to do better in this department (I had a friend whom I compared with side to side and it edged my M30P when the sun went down).
Thanks for answer, you helped me. Finally i bought it and i'm happy with video quality. How You say, only night videos can be little bit better - phone searching focus too offen and it's a biggest problem. I'm hone next firmwares fix this.

I've been getting a new firmware update almost every week so far on my CN M30P.
Most have included improvements to the camera so if Huawei keep this up, then it's only just going to keep getting better as the firmware has far from matured and perfected the phone given how new it still is.

Screen Width vs Ratio - it's not the size that counts...

Hi all, long time Android user and have always edged on the side of bigger phones/screens ever since the days of the Samsung Note 2 (or II to be precise!).
My question/discussion/topic is not necessarily about screen size, or screen to body ratio but more about screen width (when holding the device in portrait).
Over the last 10 years or so I've jumped around devices (every 4-6 months approx) but what stands out is the devices I've gone back to, I've owned various Note 4's & Mate 9's, and I'm now on my 3rd Mate 20 (non-pro of course). I've also owned a Mate 10, Oneplus 7 Pro and Note 8/9/10+'s too.
So... the commonality here is the big WIDE screens, which I love and of course generally fit video content much better.
I recently bought a Poco F2 Pro with an idea of finally leaving Huawei and moving on from Mates/expensive Notes, but I immediately put it up for sale due to the screen being too "narrow" at a 20:9 ratio.
Does anybody care about screen width anymore? I certainly do, not just for videos but for general day to day use (gaming, reading emails, web browsing etc).
I know there have been trends in the smartphone industry that are not necessarily popular (non-removable batteries & the disappearing headphone jack come to mind) but screen "shape" is way more important to me.
This is my first major post so go steady folks, not even sure if it's in the right category! Just really interested to hear people's thoughts on this...

Question Considering of buying Pixel 7 Pro but have some questions

Hello fellow Pixel users,
In my country Google is not selling their phones officially, so from my perspective it's a tough decision to make. I will be buying it from Germany within my business travel. I am currently using OnePlus 8 Pro and before that I had a Samsung S10+ (Exynos variant). So I am familiar with having a processor that is way better than Exynos is quite the difference.
1- So my first question is how good is the Tensor chip inside Google's phone. I am aware of the better usage as we can see with Apple maintaining the iphone's own silicone. They are trying the best power output of the smartphone within it's hardware capabilities. I am no gamer with the phone so all I expect is watch some videos, use basic social media and open many chrome tabs and sometimes take pictures from my travel.
2-My second question is the material used in the phone. As I said before I never seen or used a pixel phone. I expect it to be maintain basics or better than overall quality but from the social media I am hearing that camera frame has getting damage, power button is falling inside the phone. A fellow youtuber JerryRigsEverything said about bending issue in his teardown video too. Is anyone here experienced issues like this? Or is it a %1 manufacturing mistake that can happen to anyone.
3-My third question is the battery life and camera performance from your experience. I have watched some youtube videos from MKBHD, which is just praising the Pixel 7 Pro and I am trusting his channel. Meanwhile I have watched some unbiased compare videos with the S23 Ultra and iphone 14 Pro Max and usually photos and videos from Pixel phone looks much worse than how it's announced. Maybe they are not editing their photos, just comparing them with the way it is looking straight from the camera. But since nobody here is doing a sponsorship with pixel I trust your words over them.
Thank you for your response
Clearly these are only my own opinions.
1. Tensor 2 is great, it might not look good on paper thanks to all the benchmarking people do but in the real world it is more than enough.
2. You are never going to bend the phone like Zack does on JRE and lets be fair here, the P7P didn't snap or remain bent in his test. My P7P is now 5 months old and remains scratch free with all its buttons in place.
3. Battery life in my experience is good, i don't recall having to charge in the day even when going mental with the camera on a day out or on Holiday. Photos are good but they do have that pixel look about them and despite Googles "real tone" claims it sometimes makes a right pigs ear of skin tones regardless of colour. Mainly though you will end up with a good photo just about every time, whether it is framed right is down to you. As for video, well it is a Pixel, its never been any Pixels strongest attribute but i find videos from it perfectly acceptable.
