Mate 30 Pro is NOT king of camera - Huawei Mate 30 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi to all ?
First of all I have P30 Pro, and last my 2 phones was Mate 20cand P20 Pro. Because thay all are great phones and great camera. So I search new phone with much better camera, don't get me wrong P30 Pro is best in the market for photography but not for video. So I'm searching something good for both. The only thing what can it be is Mate 30 Pro (that what was I aspect).
But in the beginning wierd thing is, they put just Ultra wide angle camera for videography. (this phone spouses to have best video camera, Huawei said that. Every day in every news you can read this). So they put in Mate 30 Pro special sensor for videography. That's sounds good, but results is not good at all. And they put the smallest "ultra wide angle camera in market for now"!!! Sorry DXO Mark, I can't agree with you this time.
I will post some videos down and I will like to hear your comments.
P. S. I know this is not final software on M30P, and I hope someone will make again new video comparison after final software.
1. Mate 30 Pro vs IPhone 11
2. Mate 30 Pro vs P30 Pro
After these videos I really don't know what to say... ? M30P is very good phone, but camera is even not better then P30 Pro.

I would wait until the phone has been released to the public to make allegations. It's hard when only peeps on YouTube have review devices.

I agree with you completely. I've been waiting for this phone to trade my P30 pro for 2 major reasons....the video quality and the damn color balance.
Unfortunately BOTH will not be addressed. Video quality looks on par with flagships now (especially considering with shooting at a much wider field of view) but at the sacrifice of ultra wide angle!! 18mm? seriously? People need ultra wide angle to capture MORE and they they reducing it from 16mm to 18 mm here!
Also the same sensor without color corrections means I'm stuck with the same color inconsistencies like on my P30 pro. White balance is a joke and 3/4 pics are different, skin tones all unnatural and heavy.
I was seriously planning on sourcing this but as you said, it is by no means king of Camera and far from DXO high horse ratings.
...and I still don't know why they never added auto HDR

The mate 30 pro released early than Huawei expected, most of those early reviews on YouTube are not final version, Dxomark had the latest close to final build installed, according to Huawei CEO thats not the final version, let see the future update... I'll say wait for P40 if you looking for camera big improvement that's what P series focused.

Actually, P series is always the master of camera. Then Mate series. if you want better camera, wait for p40 pro, want better quality and performance, buy mate 30 pro

i just watched the dxomark youtube mate 30 pro video. video quality was very high compare to youtubers . there was a compare in 5lux with note 10 plus. it was clear the winner was mate 30 pro. maybe it needs some patch to software. lets see the final product software then talk. Huawei claimed mate 30 pro it is best in video.

Yes in low light, but video is not so good like Samsung. It have problem with dinamic range, like phones with 300 eur price.

Agreed. They just can't do video well

Video better after updates. Can't see choppines while panning left and right anymore

Agreed, video recording seems miles better than what I got from before. I've already had 4 system updates since unboxing the phone last week.

I ditched my P30 Pro for the Note 10 the moment they announced the Mate 30 Pro and confirmed that it will have an RYYB sensor.
The color science is god awful on this sensor, it's way inconsistent, and makes the skin of my kids look pale and dull. My Mate 20 Pro took much better pictures, with vibrant pleasing colors. The night mode on the P30 Pro was also useless, due to the RYYB sensor, the phone would try to correct the colors and 10/10 times, I'll have a green cast all over my pictures.
Even with Google play services, and a much cheaper price, I wouldn't have got this phone, no more RYYB sensors for me.

Same to me. I sell my P30 Pro. Really I can't believe my self. But it was very good price. And I buy Note 10 Plus. I didn't regret. Camera us much better in daylight and indoors. But in no low light but no problem for that, Gcam can fix it

Nothing can beat the P30 Pro and Mate 30 Pro in complete darkness, but honestly, how many times do you take pictures in extremely dim areas? It was a fun trick to try the 1st few days after buying the P30 Pro, but then it was something that I barely used.

Yap, thats is it.

Is red tint problem(in low light) + light bulb artifact has been fixed?
Tint+Color shift+Artifact are problem since P30pro using RYYB.
I'm very confused why they still use RYYB If they can't fix it
https://www.gsmarena.com/mate_30_pro_vs_iphone_11_pro_vs_galaxy_note10_camera_compare-news-39381.php

You just posted 2 videos as evidence while ignoring alot of other videos out there. BiG bRaIn move right here.
-Green cast only ocurred if you used nightmode, the thing is you get the same result minus green cast with full automode.
-Color Science its way better than the Mate 20 pro.

Having owned both and since updates have arrived it's 100% better than all those phones.

Now I have both Mate 30 pro & Note 10+.. So far I noticed that the mate 30 pro doesn't have auto focus on front cam, my face gets blurry when I take a selfie at a distance of below 50cm from the phone. It sucks for me, or maybe bec I already get used with my Note 10+ which gives me more detail on selfie either close up or not. Why Huawei never fixed it since P30 Pro I think or even earlier.

I'm impressed with the 7680 frames per second in Slow motion video.

Very impressed with the overall photography and video capture of my M30P.
Weekly updates almost once every week on my CN M30P just make it better and better. I have a strong feeling it blows the stock firmware out of the water too.

So Huawei Mate 9 vs Samsung Note 8 ?

So has anyone ordered a Note 8 yet? I have Mate 9 (since Jan '17) and its awesome, but and it is a big BUT, that AMOLED display!! No doubt, that Samsung has some of the best displays in the business.
Everything in Mate 9 works as expected, the finger print reader is super fast, the battery life is amazing generally speaking. It charges fast, the UI is responsive. The camera is half decent. It just works.
I wanted to started a conversation around the idea, if it is worthwhile moving from Mate 9 to Note 8 ? Or perhaps wait for Mate 10?? Yeah lets throw that in too!

I wait for V30. Huawei Mate 10 with IP68 is my favorite too but I need Knock on and Mate 9 not have this function. Amoled not important for me. Photo quality, IPxy and knock on are more important for me.

I'm waiting for Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, those are the only two phones that are worth waiting, the S8 and Note 8 have nothing to offer.
I just switched from a Note 4 to the Mate 9 and love it. Yes there are some drawbacks but its nothing a little big of tweaking cant fix for me anyway. I looked at the price of the Note 8 and was like NOPE...Was on my 2nd Note 4 with the eMMC issue and didn't want to spend $1200 plus tax for the Note 8. Picked up the Mat e9 for $749 taxes in (Half price!)

I crave the AMOLED screens on the Samsungs. That would actually make my Mate 9 complete...
Came from the Note 4 to the Mate 9. Still have my Note running S8 ROM port. I have considered the Note 8 but, the battery life for one would be less than the Mate 9 which is absolutely stellar. The price is another issue. The wrap around screen is not for me on the Note 8. I like a firm solid phone, too. The note feels good but very delicate if dropped. I'm staying with my Mate 9. I went through a period of thinking maybe getting rid but nope, it's my right hand man. Probably the best phone I have ever owned. 128gb, 6gb Mate 9.

I though i was the same, but the Mate 9 screen is great as an IPS LCD, however if u still want AMOLED, Mate 10 pro is the version you want, shame it will be 1100$ if rumors are right.

There is no phone that serves as a true upgrade over Mate 9, in fact the Mate 9 is better than all flagship in terms of battery life and performance.
Someone tested the Note 8 on ppsspp emulator, playing Tekken DR and it worked poor as on my S7E, on mine Mate 9, it runs 60fps solid and Tekken 6 as well, that shows that Samsung is throttling the device on purpose via DVFS, another reason to stay away for me.

Totally agree the battery aspect, since no flagship of 2017 came anywhere near 4000mAH battery.
The accu is me to small, this is the main reason for me to buy huawei and no edge displays.

I'll wait for the Note 9.
The Mate 9 is too excellent to give up just yet.
Even the Matte 10 can wait for the 11
I went from Note Edge (the first one) to Huawei Mate 9. It took a little while to adjust plus I still miss the pen but I find that as time goes on I have really grown to like the Mate 9. Battery and speed and memory are top notch. There have been several good updates with camera improvements. I'm sure the Note 8 is a great phone but I really hate the idea of a 18.5 to 9 screen. It appears that the Mate 10 will now go to a 18:9 screen. I'd rather Huawei keep the same aspect ratio of Mate 9 and maybe slightly increase diagonal. Regardless, I'd rather wait to bump up to a Mate 10 than purchase a Note 8, especially if Huawei continues to improve camera.

I'll get the Mate 10 Pro probably, or Mate 10 if price will be really 1100$, nonetheless i know many people that stormed on the S8, and quickly got back to the Mate 9 never to look back.
Just today i played Angry Birds 2 and Tekken 6, so smooth, no performance issues, while both lagged, with Tekken 6 being unplayable on the Note8 and S8+.
If you have another last years flagship I'd say get the note 8 because it has the latest hardware. If you have the mate 9 now I wouldn't switch, this phone is just so great, amazing camera which really invites you to play with the settings in pro mode.
It has great battery life, I play alot of elder scrolls legends on this phone and it's allows me to play for hours and hours. My screen on times swing between 9 and 10 hours. Pretty impressive I would say.
I came from a nexus 6 so the Amoled vs lcd debate I can understand. I do prefer lcd tho.
OK, it doesn't have the true blacks and color saturation that Amoled has but it has great color reproduction and best if all, no navbar/statusbar burnins, hooray! This thing also gets very bright in daylight so it's very usable in direct sunlight.
I would say, swap this device only for the to be revealed mate 10.
Huawei is known for improving its phones year by year. The mate 9 was a good step up from the mate 8 as the mate 8 was from the mate 7. I'll be guessing it will be very speedy, have a great battery life and a great screen, Amoled or even lcd. The camera will be improved the most I think, this Leica coop has been working out great for Huawei and the camera's improve with every new phone. The p10 plus has a decent low light camera, guessing the mate 10 will be better in every aspect.
Time will tell, my next mate device will be a mate 11 tho, can't wait to be 1 year ahead of this one.
VALUE, that's what I'm after
Is it "better" I guess depends on what you want out of your device.
"Better" can be described as faster, more power, or simply a faux feeling
of "better".
Personally, I think most smartphones are OVER priced, for MY value.
That's why I don't buy a new phone when they are released. I "wait it out".
Typically, phones have a bug or two, be it software or hardware, when released.
I WAIT until a "new" version is announced and ready for release, then, start watching
for the price of last years new model. The Mate 9 was (USA) around 900 dollars when
released. I bought one this week, for $449.00
I find that if you buy the LAST of the so called new one, when another new one comes
out, I get a better value for my money. Granted, 99.9% of cell phone manufacturers
are late/never update their phone firmware. But, at least for the last 3 Huawei phones
I've owned (Mate 2,8,9) have been very stable with the firmware they ship with, so, for
my use, it doesn't matter. I don't play games, 3d anything, but, I do a TON of talking
(around 2,000 minutes per month), text, web (work), video, mp3's, streaming. I don't
turn it off at night, runs MONTHS between reboots, great life, so the version of firmware
doesn't bother me. But, I don't think the "higher end" phones, so to speak are a good
value, because when you look at build costs, of even the super high end devices of
around $300, but command over $1,000? That's nuts! Personally, I think it is because
the fashion designers/hipsters have taken over the industry. Now, what's the first thing
you hear when someone announces/displays a phone?
Oh! Look how slim, colorful & stylish it is! We hired bla bla bla fashion designer to design
the phone. (Um...how much "style" can you make out of a rectangular slab of plastic, glass &
metal??). Phones are overpowered, have way to many megapixels on the super tiny camera
sensor and on and on, to justify the price increase. As long as consumers continue to buy
into it, can't blame the manufacturers that are catering to it.
Me, I'm kind of like the old story of the two bulls on top of the hill, overlooking a heard of
cows below. The young bull asks the old bull, hey...how about we run down there and screw
some cows. The OLD bull says, son, why down we creep down there SLOWLY and screw em
all.
Sometimes slow is better, for me, especially when it comes to spending my hard earned money.
I had a mate 9 earlier in the year, got a note 8.
Note 8 has a great camera but i just do not like using it, it is absolutely not worth the price they are asking. Rather use my 7 plus or Xz Premium over it. XZp would be my DD if the camera didnt suck.
My p10 plus can barely hit 3 hours SOT so it sits on the desk, huge disappointment. Should have kept the mate 9.

Who else is disappointed in the camera?

What do u guys think of the camera?
Compared it to the pixel 2 and seriously that damn hdr on the google side is just insane.
P20 Pro loses alot of details even in normal shots.
Even in night shots pixel 2 captures so many details.
For some reason the ai also stands in the way, greenery mode especially cranks up the shadows and so many details are lost
I am kinda disappointed in the camera department.
Hopefully huawei will work on a better hdr in their future updates.
Pixel 2 is still the king of smartphone photography, can only imagine what will happen if pixel 3 goes dual cameras.

Cant say that am agree with you,
And i own both phone.
You can go to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...uawei-p20-pro-share-fantastic-t3774488/page15 to read more discussion about camera.
Conclusion is. P20 Pro is not your another point and shoot kind of camera. Its more like a photographer tool. It give you best result when you play around the setting and willing to go through the learning curve of using various camera mode. Not a fully auto like in our pixel 2
I'm very satisfied with the camera. Although I agree that the software can be on the heavy side when sharpening and smoothing areas. Havent tried RAW mode yet, but I'll experiment some more with that later.
Dark shots are amazing when using auto or night mode. I mean, considering doing them without a tripod.
any test gcam in p20 pro?
I am. Sold my p20 pro because of the camera and touch lag. I primarily take photos of people in indoor lighting at night, p20 pro just can't keep up with pixel 2 xl's crazy detail particularly in that situation. Using night mode gets it closer, but still can't beat the hdr+.
Also, the problem with night mode is that it is not a simple switch on the main interface. We have to scroll scroll, click, aaaand the moment's gone.

Try Night Mod in daylight it is better then Pixel HDR+. Thats what I see on meny photo comparisons.
Yes
You are definitely right! I looked at the original 40 MP photos taken with p20 pro with excitement. I zoomed in and saw that there is no good amount of detail! They looked like low quality 10-12 MP photos! In low light it might take better photos because it has a larger sensor but in low light nope..
I can definitely say that Huawei didn't focus on the "software" enough (shame on Huawei), that's very unfortunate considering this phone has a good camera hardware.

I have Pixel 2 and P20 Pro and disagree. The Pixel has far too omuch noise in indoor lighting, the P20 pro is just as quick at taking the shot and is clearer with less noise.
As for the Night mode... usually it's for buildings and such to get great low light phots... So we scroll... and click... aaaannnd the moment is still there unless the building fell over... haha.
HDR+ on the Pixel is good, but i'm afraid it just got toppled. Even the non HDR shots on the P20 Pro (with AI off) are better in all scenarios.
No issues with the camera, if you are wanting top notch photos then use a dedicated DLSR, the camera on the P20 Pro is the bridge between full on DSLR and Phone camera and does produce some outstanding results, just mess about with the settings, its not like other phone cameras and as a lot more settings/features to play with. I use my DLSR cameras for main photos while my P20 Pro will be for quick snaps when out and about and don't want to carry my main cameras.

its a pity that you still use old software at that time,
.107 bring on much improved auto HDR. much detail are preserved, and it produce more consistent results on various scene now

Ah, i see now. Then i would agree with you,
Pixel 2 XL would suit you much better for this kind of quick snapshot around the house,
using P20 Pro for this kind of shots would be a waste of money. Pixel algorithm do better job on that
Coming from a S8 Plus and Iphone 8 plus. The camera on the Huawei p20 Pro is weak as hell compared to those two.
Sorry, but it was just marketing.
Selling the phone and going another route.

Coming from every flagship the last two years I have to utterly disagree on your statement. Of course each to their own.
It's not perfect but the the versatility alone is huge. Night mode is certainly not a marketing ploy, it really does work and as advertised!
Can't wait to go on using 4 seconds breaks for a photo at night.
Auto is useless. Everything is over sharpened.
Oil for all of us.

The camera is amazing im sorry but it's the best camera I've ever used in a phone period.
Certain situations call for certain features to be used, but I'm in no way disappointed, it's a complete beast, there isn't a phone on the planet that comes close, perhaps the pixel 2 but only maybe on video.
I am not really disapointed , but for a phone focusing on it's camera so much , i would like some added features.
I'ts nice to have AI available , but sometimes i would like to leave my own personal touch on my photo's. So why not include the AI "modes" into the filters menu ? That way i can pick the mode and strength i want to see , when i want to see it.
Manual HDR mode , effect is only marginal ? can't set any HDR bracketing options.
Sometimes, in high contrast scenes, HDR kick's in automatically , without warning or any way to cancel it. The effect is really pronounced then.
Pro mode : where is the bracketing ? Sharpening settings ? Noise removal settings ?
RAW : is not really raw , there is some weird effect where noise seems to be converted to dancing lines. Lens distortion is removed , but vignetting is still present ?
I also would like to have an option to save the "developed" photo in a lossless format (with some extra bit depth) in stead of JPG.

Wow! that's stark! thanks for posting, it's exactly the type of images I plan to shoot and I was looking for a direct comparison between the Pixel 2 and the P20 Pro when shooting people in dimly lit indoors.
I suppose you had turned beauty mode down to 0, which however did not switch it off in earlier versions of the camera software.
Is the problem still present with the latest camera update (.128)?
Does shooting in Photo mode preserve more detail?
Thanks.

Ah, i see now. Then i would agree with you,
Pixel 2 XL would suit you much better for this kind of quick snapshot around the house,
using P20 Pro for this kind of shots would be a waste of money. Pixel algorithm do better job on that

You said it, it's a software problem. The P20 Pro comes with superior camera hardware (a much larger main sensor to start with), so I really don't understand why it has to ruin skin in indoor shots to that extent.
From what users report it's all a matter of not being able to turn beautification off completely.
I've read that since update .128 the overprocessing issue was improved.
Does this also apply to skin?
How would such shots appear if shot in Photo mode, or RAW?
I ask about RAW because apparently Huawei's RAW images are also processed, at least geometrically, e.g. by applying lens distortion correction, so I can't be sure that pixel values are unaltered.
I purchased the P20 Pro specifically for the camera as I'm a professional photographer and want the best IQ out of my always with me smartphone camera. I have owned the P20 Pro for almost two months now and have seen a dramatic improvement in the camera software over that time. The initial, pre 107 firmware was terrible with regard to raw color vignetting and at first I was fairly disappointed. The 107 firmware corrected the raw color vignetting issue, though of course there is still the typical natural vignetting that occurs with a small lens and large sensor (and yes, often the sensor DOES affect vignetting due to how it receives non parallel light rays from the lens). So natural, non color shifting vignetting was not really a surprise and does not bother me at all. I'm very happy with the IQ from 40MP raw images now. It's not going to match my 36MP full frame camera in good light of course but for a smartphone, the P20 Pro is pretty amazing.
Probably my biggest positive surprise with the P20 Pro (beyond the software capabilities of Night Mode) is the quality of the black & white camera. Really nice tonality, no doubt somewhat due to the Leica involvement.
Anyway, I'm now on the 131 firmware and the additional improvements I would like to see are more user control over color saturation, noise reduction and sharpness (and I would also love to be able to tweak how the Master AI option deals with color and color saturation). For the B&W camera, I would really, really love a raw option as well as control of noise reduction and sharpness as I occasionally see where the very aggressive noise reduction completely smooths/ blurs very fine distant detail such as grass.
As far as all the noise about the P20 Pro camera not being as good vs phone X, etc. I would say that there is a higher learning curve to getting the most out of the cameras in the P20 Pro. I see this as the best option for a more experienced user who is looking for the absolute best IQ available today out of a smartphone. For someone looking for the best, "no hassle" snapshots from a smartphone, there may be better options though that does seem to be improving with every firmware update of the P20 Pro.

camera quality

Have just bought the note 10 plus 5g and am moving from Huawei mate 20 X
The reason is the screen quality and the uncertainty with Huawei plus of course the 5g
Can anyone tell me about the camera is it good ? I owned note 9 and loved the note experience but the camera was poor
I just hope I'm not making a mistake moving as the camera on the mate 20 X is brilliant as shown below (only issue the AI is bad and I have it switched off most of the time)
Is there any monochrome ?? And night camera ??
I've enclosed a picture from the mate 20 X for comparison
Thanks

I have Note10, didn't see any monochrome lens, but possibly can be applied later as an effect. Nigh camera mode is there. I like images that this phone produced. I usually take photos of the nature, clouds and such... I haven't had a chance to put the camera into a good use, but I will.
Coming from two Pixels the camera on the new note is.... alright..
The issue i have is that you need to mess with different modes to figure out which mode to be in to get the best picture. For instance in regular mode i cant get a crisp picture of anything moving at all. My sons slight movements even cause a blur which sucks. In pro mode it makes the shutter much quicker and is able to snap moving targets.
Portrait mode is also a weird one. Live Focus kind of sucks and takes a ton of time to snap a photo so youll have to make sure that whatever youre shooting stays absolutely still. Again pro mode works pretty well but youll need to quickly change your ISO/fstop etc to get the best color.
Im currently using the Gcam port from the s10 and it works a bit better at getting overall better photos.
Im very used to opening my camera app and quickly taking the best photo possible so for me this is the biggest issue i have with the phone. My advice if you're a camera person is to wait for the next Pixel and make a decision from there
I disagree with Cosmo. I would say if you are a camera person then you know about photography. Basically everything he pointed out tells me he doesn't understand. That is exactly the type of person who should get the Pixel. If you know how cameras work then the n10 has everything you need to get amazing pictures.

Nice photo of my home town
I've come across from the Mate 20 X as well, went to Crosby beach last night to take some photos and they came out really well, there is a night mode which i dabbled with and came out well.
I've not found a monochrome option but that can just be done through snapseed etc

Love Liverpool ? thank you that's what I wanted to hear someone who has come from the mighty mate 20 X
How do you cope with slightly less real estate screen wise ?
Can you make the icons smaller on the note 10 plus as they are huge compared to my mate 20 X

It's taking some getting used to, to most people the screen is probably large but coming from the X it's tiny in comparison. One benefit I've noticed is walking round I just don't notice the Note 10 being there.
Yes you can make the icons smaller, I've changed the DPI to 551 and it's made the icons a nice size for me, just mess about with the DPI till you find a size you like

find X2 pro on EE

Just received my oppo find X2 pro this morning from EE.
Brilliant phone!
I recently had the Samsung S20 ultra (exynos) and wow this is miles better ? 12gb ram 512gb storage what a beast?.
I did think it was a dual SIM phone unpon ordering even tho I don't use 2 Sims it seems weird how they removed this feature.
Disappointing not dual SIM.
Lovely piece of kit almost as good as Huawei p40 pro.
It's a very nice screen and very quick but the camera is very underwhelming so far

What issues do you have? You seem to be in the very tiny minority of people disappointed by the camera. According to the online reviews, I can't stop loving it.

The images are too cool. My 18m old mate 20 pro takes sharper pics and my iPhone 11 takes better video and warmer pictures.
Unfortunately I will be returning it unless gcam significantly improves it

That's strange, Find X2 Pro is overall praised for its excellent color reproduction. Detail is also top tier, actually even beating P40 Pro by a very slight margin (in ideal lighting conditions).
My advice is: don't return it. ColorOS 7.2 is about to come (I'd give it 2-3 months before it reaches us) and, among other nice improvements, it releases Oppo Camera SDK allowing other apps (such as Snapchat, Instagram, gcam) use all its lenses.
So if you're willing to wait with maybe a little bit less top-tier camera (perfectly top-tier and well-rounded in my opinion though) by then, you will get a very capable gcam rather soon.
Nah, I will return it. If 7.2 improves it enough I will buy it again at a reduced price
Welcome to England where you can buy things use them and again use them, then you feel disappointed and sen it back, then after couple of days you buy it again but this time cheaper
The phone is good stop whining
I've had the S20 ultra and the iPhone 11 pro and p40 pro this year and I'm impressed with the camera on this phone compared to them and I'm not saying there crap as there all good shooters and there's many strengths and weaknesses in all of them, I think it's very similar to the p40 pro but I prefere the colour this phone produces rather than the p40 pro as the p40 seems over saturated a lot of the time to me where this phone seems more life like.
It's a brilliant phone and I will certainly be upgrading to the next oppo find x next year regardless to what apple and Samsung, Huawei, Google bring out in the future.
Holding this phone compared to anything else, you get to realise how premium this phone is.

The phone is good. But for £1100 I expect more than just good. My 18m mate 20 pro is better in every way except refresh rate and processor. Gone back to that and haven’t looked back
Wouldn't have another SoC other than Snapdragon hence why I didn't get a Samsung or Huawei, Kirin & Exynos will forever be inferior
Out of interest, what firmware version is the EE supplied handsets running?
My SIM free from Amazon is currently at CPH2025CPW_11_A.30
It has CPW in the name which is not showing in the name of the version on their website. ROM versions get a bit confusing! I think Vodafone is VF but not sure if EE has its own version.
Also whilst I remember, if you are in a 5G area, does it work OK and show 5G in the top? I've got 5G enabled but when I do a manual search for providers it doesn't show anyone with 5G but I know the local 3 mast is 5G! I thought that would be in the list
Cheers

Is the Note 10 / CC9 Pro still worth it in late 2020 with the new flagship killers?

i'm a heavy RAW photography shooter via the ultrawide lens , and from what i've researched im tempted to get a CC9 pro ~$370 USD and shoot computational RAWs with gcam with it. With this price range, there seems to be a huge explosion of "flagship killers" like the POCO F2 / X3, K30 Ultra, Realme X2/X7 etc. While all of these seem to have really competitive processors like the Dimensity 1000+ being almost equiv to SD865, none of them have as good cameras as the Mi note 10 especially the ultrawide.
It's VERY difficult to find any phone with a good sensor for the ultrawide, phone companies just dont seem to care. The only other one is Huawei Mate 30 pro but it doesnt support google pay and that's a deal breaker.
Is the CC9 Pro my best option...?
Thanks,
Hi, for this price range is for sure the best option. Other competitors better with ultrawide (bigger sensor/ better lens) would be probably closest as you mentioned Huawei Mate 30 Pro, P40 Pro, OP 8 Pro and newest samsung s20 series. Also Xiaomi M10 Ultra seems with same sensor, but updated lens design - providing less distortion and better details.
Do know, when you shoot RAW, gcam or stock cam does not provide distortion correction - so you have to do it afterwards in post-processing software. Love the output from gcam, can manage all preferences and detail, denoise etc. With adequate settings and provided very good light, it is really usable next to my DSLR in photoshoots (don't have wide angle lens). With little post production photos comes astonishing (especially from tripod and night sight astro setting). If you don't raise expectations too high - it won't disappoint!
