I can't get the play/market to load or open. Additionally if I access via the web and try to download rom manager etc it says it's already on my device.....which I can't find. How can I get the play/market to load and open? I've tried multiple older version. Here are my specifics:
Xoom wifi only (US)
Android Version 4.0.3
Kernel Version 2.6.39.4 Tiamat
Mod Version 1.4.0-XOOM (WiFi)
Build Number IML 77
Please help....my tablet is pretty much only an internet browser at the moment.
another way around your problem
as far as play from google since you have browser you can go directly to market and try reinstalling if from your browser on your tablet. try loading from your browser and if that don't work there are other methods if you search through xda you can find google apps folder and load them on to your sd card and load from there I have learned that it is near imposible to ruin these tablets. hope this helps
Delete the cache of market/play and Google framework services.
Still won't work

I tried this, I still can't load Google play. Ever since acknowledging the change from Google market to play, I've not been able to load my apps page. funny thing is, it will update my apps, though page/app will not load. When I try to access it via the web, it won't load my apps page. Even though I'm logged in, it asks me to log in again, but won't allow me to log in..a script comes up to "touch/click" login, and it does nothing..using dolphin browser HD, I'll try another browser, but think it will get same results. Anyway, I've got a rooted 4.0.4 ICS Xoom.

This has happened to me last week. Basically you get your apps updated because you have enabled market apps auto update. Your issue is with market unable to load or open and sometimes with connection error. Right? Try first rebooting your router and your device.
If so, you have 2 options here only.
First, is your device rooted?
Option 1: create another gmail account and then try to add another google account on your device with the newly created one from settings / accounts and sync. If successful, before going to google play, open youtube app and login with your new account. If ok. Login with old account. Then reboot. Then go to market and open your new account. If ok, login to market using old account. And check. If ok, done. If not, option 2 is the only solution.
Option2: backup your stuff. And fully wipe factory reset your device.

You can also just delete your current Google acct and then re-add it. This works with some of the Google apps errors.
not working
well..I tried option 1. and also to remove my Google accounts then re add them. still doesn't work. I just re flashed 4.04 over 4.03, so I don't want to do a data wipe again, since it was happening before I flashed it last time as well. It seems I can get to Google play from a browser, but when I try to get to my apps from there, it will also not connect. I'm about to just put a mod on like tiamat...dunno yet
now did the wipe, still no work, then loaded EOS ROM, still not working. I can only guess I need to use another gmail account all together
I have the same problem on time with google applications.
Due to differents flash of differents ROM and Google applications
Flash the tablette with the GAPP signe:
http://goo.im/gapps
reboot and no problems
This is getting annoying...
I have done every suggestion here. wiping data, even trying EOS builds and cyanogen mod, clear cache, wipe cache, use another Google account ( I have 2). Google play app will not open. When I go there from my PC, it says app will be installed, whatever the app may be, it is not getting installed to the Xoom, even though I'm logged in. AT first, Google Play would not open, but apps would install on the Xoom when I had auto update enabled..still Google play will not play nice.
I had same issue like you. Unfortunately, the only solution to me was to factory reset my xoom. Flash rom and gapps again.
Be4 that, try rebooting your router...

I just cleared the cache and data a couple times after rebooting each time
I had this issue and was easily solved after I unsynced my Google account then re-added it to the phone. Hopeful that solves your problem.

Yeah, you have to remove your google accounts and re-add them. I don't know what causes this but it happens a lot, I just had it happen last night lol.

I've solved the problem when I discovered that the google framework services was disabled.
Then go to the settings /applications/all applications
Scroll until the end of the list, and then you'll find all the disabled apps.
You may find google framework services disabled, then enable it
And you'll have acces to google play store again.
Hope it will work for you

Thank you very much for pointing this out! I like to know how did you trace it to google framework? I was panicking and almost wanted to re-flash my phone. For me, the app is not disabled, so what I did was to clear its data and re-enter the account. Apparently, removing the account from the "Accounts and Sync" does not remove everything...

Solution Found!!!!
I was having this issue also, and started another thread not knowing this one was here, but I found a solution!!!! I guess the issue has to do with losing either your IMEI, MEID or both. So what I did was ODIN the root66 stock rom (which still has root) and reprovision the rom in order to restore my IMEI/MEID by dialing *2767*3855#. This will factory reset your device. Once I got my IMEI/MEID back, I backed it up using terminal emulator by typing "su" to get root access, then typing "reboot nvbackup" (without the quotes), and also using synergy's recovery zip in cwm or twrp that makes a backup zip file with the IMEI/MEID information. After I did that I tried a Jellybean touchwiz rom, Jellywiz RLS 12 to be exact, and was able to access the play store with no server error at all!!!!! Took a lot of trial and error, but I'm back on a touchwiz rom with no server error in the play store!!!!!
Yeah I'm getting the server error again with the new leak #2!!! I restored the stock66 Rom to make sure my meid/imei were intact and they were, so I flashed the new leak and server error! I have no idea why this is happening!!

Working Solution!!!!
So today was a day from hell for my phone. I drove down to San Diego from Orange County today, and my phone started roaming half way down. I was on slimrom 2.9 (aosp) and had no problems prior. So I decided to restore my stock66 backup and reprovision, but my phone was stuck roaming. I even tried flashing a JB touchwiz leak and had the server error yet again!!!! I didn't know what to do!!!! My IMEI was intact, so I had no idea what to do. I tried restoring the backup of the IMEI/MEID i had made, but I guess that was bad. So I proceeded to restore my phone back to factory, unlocking the bootloader, unrooting, and updating all the OTA's from Verizon. The one thing that I started to notice was the under network, it showed unknown. All my other information was correct, IMEI/MEID, etc...However, the second thing I noticed was that I had no ERI!!!!! This was the issue all along!!!! The play store couldn't recognize the carrier!!! So even though I had done all the OTA's, tried the IMEI/MEID repair tool. You have to first downgrade your radio using ODIN back to VRLF2: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34053-officialmodems-vrlj1-verizon-sgs3-sch-i535-odin-or-recovery-flashable/. Next, follow the instructions here to repair your ERI, IMEI/MEID: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442. I then re-rooted my phone back to the latest JB leak here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114. I also used TWRP and did the su/unlock bootloader combo zip. I checked the status of my network and it's back!!!!!!!! This time I backed up my ERI, MEID/IMEI since it was all there!!!!! I did backup methods 1 and 2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852255 Next I made a backup of the current rom, and did a clean install of JellyBeans 2, signed into my google account, and gone were those nagging server errors!!!!!!!!

I had this problem on my Kindle Fire and Galaxy Epic Touch after installing Cyanogenmod 10.2. Everything works fine for a day, then dreaded Play Store server error occurs the next day. I tried removing and then adding Google account back, but had error, could not connect to google servers.
Here's what I found solved the problem
Check that google frameworks service is enabled
Clear cache from Play store, google frameworks and google account services.
Reboot
Open Play store
If still experiencing server error, delete Google account and add again.
After this both my devices have been fine.
GPlay No connection-Retry
.......... I am not getting any error but after a couple clean installs within 2 days, I cannot connect to GPlay, there is no error just connection timed out but the internet is fine. Any suggestions besides clearing framework and deleteing account? .........
Weeeeeee
Thank you soooo much, your solution is the ONLY thing that has worked for me after only having been able to fix previous occurences with a factory reset!!!! You're a saint <3333

My g/f phone is on the last version of Saba Prime v16. We did a force update to get Hangouts today and it worked fine..... until we rebooted it. Now Hangouts reports "Google Play Service, which some of your applications rely on,is not supprted by your device. Please contact the manufacturer".
Google Play Services and Hangouts were uninstalled, phone rebooted, then from play store they were installed again but the message persists.
I have a Desire S with Fallout rom, the same version of both apps and works fine even after multiple reboots....
Any ideas ?
I'm getting the same issue on a VZW Nexus. The weird thing is I have 2 Nexus LTE, one mine, one is my wife's. Both are running the exact same ROM/gapps/kernel/radio.... On one device the update to hangouts was flawless, on the other I get "device not compatible". Then a "play services" won't update error....
I've wiped the ROM clean install and tried to update before restoring other apps and still have issues.
Anybody have ideas to correct?
First idea is it sounds like it might be due to different versions of gapps before installing hangouts; I know that the gapps I flashed onto my phone got updated at some point afterwards, and now looks different to the package I downloaded and flashed originally.
Second idea, do your phones have the same CID? (i.e. same carrier, same sim-unlock state).

Okay I fixed on my end...
It seems as though it was on Google's server end, if that's possible.
The short answer for me was, wipe data > install ROM > install hangouts via apk (previously downloaded)> reboot > flash gapps > update Google now> update Google play services.... Viola. Seems like there should have been an easier fix.
Long Answer
I tried wiping data reinstalling ROM and gapps and that DID NOT work. I was getting the same error for Hangouts, Google Now, and Play Services and then some.... "Device not compatible"
I tried the exact same thing but logged into my Google account rather than my wife's and it worked just fine. No errors... Retried wiping ROM and flashing gapps, used her account, device not compatible again. That's why I'm guessing it was server side if that's possible. Even the web version of Play Store was saying device not compatible. CIDs were restored in each case and running same AOKP version and same Gapps.
That lead me to trying the install without Gapps... You only get so far before you must login to Google for obvious reasons, but for what ever reason, having the app installed on my phone before signing into gapps allowed for updating all of the other Play Services without issue.
It doesn't make sense to me but I'm up and running now...
My Solution
I'm a little late to the party, but this is the easiest post to find on Google for this problem. Mine worked after fresh ROM install, but it would start giving the error after a reboot. After much searching the thing that ultimately worked for me was to uninstall updates for the Play Store. I haven't uninstalled Play Services and after the Store auto updated, I could use Hangouts once again. I am using a HTC Desire with Cool Droid v3 GSM ROM.
I can confirm that steps suggested by MikeAce00 worked flawlessly.
This is what I did with a rom with gapps installed already
1. wipe & install rom -- do not input google credentials
2. install hangouts (google+ not necessary!) apk manually
3. input google credentials
4. update google play services (Hangouts even requested this...happened automatically after inputting the google credentials)
5. restart
6. done! -- hangouts should work
For me it did not seem to make any difference if you restart directly after installing hangouts apk or after inputting the google credentials

I've tried the methods proposed here, but no luck. At poinjt 4 I don't get a request for update, just the same old message about google play services not being supported.
I'm currently going through older versions of gapps and see if I get to a point where Google Play updates the right files in the right order.

Google Account Issue
It appears that this is an account issue, for some of us. I am having the same problem on multiple devices with my Google Apps account, but my gmail account is working just fine on those devices.
Google is evidently aware of it, and its gotten a little press on Android Police. Whatever you do, don't listen to what people are saying and factory reset the device. IT doesn't help, and all it winds up doing is removing access to all of your paid / no paid apps.
A small discussion has sprung up on the Google Wallet forum here.

i have had this issue on ics not on jelly bean before my fix for this normally was less radical than an factory reset
Suspects:
1. Google Play Store
2. Google Services Framework
3. Download Manger
Step 1 remove all Gmail accounts from settings menu under accounts (i do this because i want a clear start like when you did a factory reset)
Step 2 locate Google Play Store (android market app) in settings menu > applications > all > Google Play Store
2.1 Force Stop
2.2 Uninstall Updates
2.3 Clear data & cache
Step 3 locate Google Services Framework in settings menu > applications > all > Google Services Framework
3.1 Force Stop
3.2 Uninstall Updates
3.3 Clear data & cache
Step 4 locate Download Manger in settings menu > applications > all > Download Manger
4.1 Force Stop
4.2 Uninstall Updates this does not get update make sure its enabled
4.3 Clear data & cache
Step 5 do a restart for good luck
Step 6 Open Google Play Store and setup you Google account again
Step 7 Open you favorite email program and setup you account
Basically you just did a factory reset only on Google Play Store & Google Services Framework & Download Manger
Good luck hope this helps helped me a few times in the past
Don't waste your time with this. It's permanent, account related, Even a factory reset and reflash doesn't fix it.

Hi Guys
I have just installed 4.4.4 home made Wingray omni version 20141 130-1704-+0100
system boots up okay but I get, a constant Google Account Manager, and lots of Google error messages etc etc....
Is there any higher stable 5.x.x versions I can install that Gapps works without nagging messages every 10 secs or so ?
Thanks in advance
I also have the same problem with my Motorola Xoom MZ604, that did not happen before. I have installed all possible rooms, but the same message appears to me continuously and I have no way to solve it. Is there anyone who has the solution ?.
Thank you.
same problem here :S tested all the roms
stock 4.2.2 bigpart 4.4.4
everyone starts giving google processes erros :S
i thought it was just my problem could it be some google update ?
since doesnt happen if i dont choose to update the apps
It's the Google Play Services. Download the 10.0.84 version of the APK, install it and it should work fine.
Only problem is that I cannot stop it from updating to latest version. Some say that disableing auto updates in Play Store stops it from updating, for me it doesn't work.
hi guys, i tried to download new gapps from open gapps ARM>Android 4.4>any version and flash again through TWRP ROM and gapps but before that wipe system, cache, dalvik and data.
it also does nor work
Hey guys,
I'm in the same boat. I thought there must have been an issue with an update, I was on CyanogenMod KitKat so, after wiping caches/updates/data I decided to go for a Marshmallow ROM (LineageOS). Same issue, only now it causes the setup wizard to take forever as Google Play Services keeps crashing while checking connectivity. I then jumped to a Lollipop ROM and had the same issue.
So, 3 ROMS, 3 broken Google Play Services. Do you think there will be an update to Gapps which will correct this? Or will I have to find an older version of Gapps to get functionality back? I did try removing the updated before I wiped and started again to no avail but perhaps I missed an app?

Same here.
I read a few threads where some created files to stop GPS being updated and updating the correct Google play services APK but it still kept crashing.
If anyone finds a way please post up - the xoom was handed to our young bloke and he is missing it heaps.
If not - then time to bin a perfectly good tab and get a new one - as per googles plans

as far as I understand the problem... yes. But I am no dev so I couldn't say for 100% sure.
If you are going where I think you are - going back to the last of the stock rom versions, it might be a good idea.
I am going to try one or two more before doing that myself

this week my son lost his galaxy tab . so i ordered a new charger for my xoom this week and its stock we have not used it in over a year , and we have the same issue almost all apps crash .
Same issue with Xoom Stingray (4G) running stock Jelly Bean. Hadn't used it for over a year after Chrome stopped working in 2015 after some Google security update. Decided to get it out of storage to try to flash KitKat on it to see if that helped and after I updated the stock Jelly Bean, none of the Google apps worked any more - this includes Gmail, Hangouts, Drive, Maps, etc. Note that during the mass update, I kept getting a popup to update Google Play services. Once I updated Play services, that's when the Xoom started acting up. At this point I can get Pandora to run but the system is slower than hell and keeps crashing any of these Google apps when I go to start them. What a bummer, I have a few HD docks which sounded so good for playing my music. Plus I used it as my portable "beater" as I wasn't worried about it getting a little dirty. Drats on Google for killing my precious Xoom. I still marvel at it's capabilities 7 years after it was designed.

What a bummer, I have a few HD docks which sounded so good for playing my music. Plus I used it as my portable "beater" as I wasn't worried about it getting a little dirty. Drats on Google for killing my precious Xoom. I still marvel at it's capabilities 7 years after it was designed.

Solved
hi,
i have 2 motorola xoom, wingray and everest. 2 xoom didn't work at he same time.
i solved this problem for the moment.
The problem is in services of google, launcher, Maps 9.45 and play store.
You need a ROM with ROOT.
GAPPS "before 01/01/2017"
https://github.com/opengapps/arm/releases/download/20161230/open_gapps-arm-4.4-nano-20161230.zip
Titanium Backup and Maps APK.
I flashed EOS ROM and the OPENGAPPS NANO in the EVEREST.
Don't turn on wifi. After install, install titanium backup and go to > Menu > Market > Delete links market.
Menu > Market > Market Doctor.
Select all except:
Services of google play
Play Store
Google services framework
When finish, go to copy/Restore > select launcher3, push and separate from the market.
Install Maps 9.46.
Well done! Xoom runs with all services and ok!:laugh:
Dear sinver44:
What version of Titanium Backup are you using. My version 6.0.1-389 doesn't seem to have the same settings as you described. Thanks
Hi yoshkapundrick,
My version of titanium is 7.6!
It does not work for me
I cannot delete the three google applications with titanium, because I deselect them and when I go back to the menu they appear as selected again. What can I do?
Thank you.
able to get working
Even without root, if you unupdate hangouts & maps and then undo autoupdate in the google play store. Then everything seems to work fine.
