How to view WhatsApp web on your Android phone? - Android General

For reasons known only to WhatsApp, users are now unable to login to web.whatsapp.com on their Android phones, because opting to view the Desktop site now shows this page:

I tried quite a few browsers and was unable to keep the web session active (even when I managed to login), despite changing the user agent where the setting was available. If the phone with WhatsApp is not connected, WhatsApp will automatically redirect the session to the above page on an Android phone.
However, i finally found a way to work around this: Opera Browser (or Opera Beta)!
There are two settings that need to change here:
The browser then successfully keeps the web session active and users can use WhatsApp on other Android phones for 14 days without getting disconnected, if the phone with WhatsApp installed is not connected to internet.
At the time of writing, this is tested to work on version 72 and newer versions of Opera browser (and Opera Beta, but not Mini or other variants). Hopefully WhatsApp will not block this too in future.
On iOS, WhatsApp Web is tested to work on Google Chrome browser (version 111 and newer).
Hope this helps.

If anyone knows another Android browser that works, or another workaround, please let us know here.

This may no longer be needed as WhatsApp has finally decided to support multiple phones:

Opera Mini - a spyware?

For those not familiar with it - Opera Mini is a Java based free version of Opera browser for PPC and other phones that can support Java applets.
I wanted to try it, but fortunately was so board at the time I read the license agreement: (displayed automatically first time you try to go to a web address)

On the left is the version 3 EULA and on the right is version 4 beta (the latest).
As you can see if you use the browser it will send your phone number, model and all your browsing history cookies and even the cache back to Opera ASA server.
So basically they can know who you are and what you are doing on the internet at all times.
The biggest problem and the part that really annoyed me about all this was the fact that instead of visibly warning users that the price for this "free" software is the violation of their privacy, they hid this little detail behind 3 or 4 screens of the usual legal chatter which most people wouldn't bother to read (and those for whom English is not the native language might have difficulty to understand).
The 'accept' button in version 3 is on the top (and you would have to scroll back to it if you read the thing) so it seems to me that they are encouraging you to just click through without reading.
Also I could not find this license on their site. It is only visible once you installed and configured the software so it is possible they already collected your phone number at this time.
Finally, the version 4 EULA is a bit ambiguous. It just says that the app collects the info to help with debugging and such but version 3 states clearly that it is sent to their server.
Any thoughts welcome...

Thanks for the info, thats pretty worrying

Dolphin Browser HD

It's out in the market. Only for android 2.0++ unfortunately.
Look sleek and have tabbed browsing.
I absolutely love it. A must have really.
Version 2.0 of Dolphin HD has now been released.
Now in Dolphin Browser HD v2, they bring us new functional add-ons. Some wonderful add-ons which are in Firefox now could be used on Android Mobile phone. Thought it may not perfect enough, but it is definitely a big improvement. Here I want to recommend 2 add-ons, which I appreciate most.
Password Manager
Password Manager is an online password manager and Form Filler that makes our web browsing easier and more secure. It could save our passwords to let us login quickly. Input the account and password we want to save, and it will be preserved in our mobile phone with safe and convenience. When logging in, start up Password Manager to choose the relevant accounts to quick login instead of tedious manual input.
you could download it from here: http://bit.ly/c2kO08
Screen Cut
Screen-Cut permits screen capture of the screen displayed in front of you being: the web, Windows error, images or photograph. Anything being displayed onto our screen can be captured. Very simple tool does a very simple task. Cut out the entire webpage of the screen and save it as an image. Cut out easily anything that stands in front of you within your phone screen and in your SD card or share it as an attachment. Try it and see for yourself.

Droid Jellybean opens email app on car

Android "JellyBean" version 4.1.2 is rolling out for Verizon RAZR, RAZR Maxx and RAZR HD and other models and an unadvertised feature is finally enabled; the Message Access Profile (MAP) and the Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP, PBA).
If you have a limited Bluetooth phone like mine, you probably experienced that the Office functions are limited, getting Text only if you are lucky. To get the feature on Motorola RAZR, in Android, check Settings > About Phone and see if you have an update available. The working version is shown here.

Once you have it installed, re-pair the phone to Bluetooth in your BMW and during the pairing process watch your phone for permission dialogs to allow the two BT profiles. You should see this when the update is installed in the About Phone screen.
On the Control Display you see a new option like this:
And your messages look like this:
This may seem like no big deal if you have another phone that works, but for those who have been suffering without having an email reader (yes it uses text to speech on emails) it is a welcome feature. Email can show multiple accounts.
If you want to try getting an early release of this update, try this link: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/t...original-verizon-droid-razr-how-to-keep-root/
Calendar, Notes and Tasks are still not working however there may be a patch for that also.
Alternatively, you can take another approach by having a PC toggled to your I-Drive. http://www.realcarpc.com

Whatsapp Coming To Desktop

hey i heard Whatsapp Is Coming to desktop in early 2015 hope thats true
Just Heard WhatsApp Coming to Desktop
WhatsApp is available on almost every mobile platform, including discontinued platforms like Symbian and Nokia Series 40, but has never developed a web client. New reports say WhatsApp will finally come to the desktop, after five years of availability. The new web client will use OAuth, sending a message to the mobile to verify to user on the web client.

Creating a web client has been on WhatsApp users wish-list for the past few years, even with the surge to mobile in developing nations, where WhatsApp is most popular. The web client should have extra functionality for the larger screen.
Facebook has taken a mobile-first approach for its newest features, but still updates the web client regularly to keep up with new features. Facebook may have pushed WhatsApp to create a web client.
WhatsApp continues to be the dominant messaging app worldwide, with 650 million active users. WeChat, LINE, Viber, Skype and various other messaging platforms are all vying for attention.
It looks like Facebook wants to split the two messaging services, having WhatsApp in Asia and Facebook Messenger in the West. The social network does not seem keen to merge the two services together.
