Question Looking for Android Auto - Google Pixel 7 Pro

It seems that Android Auto (including wireless via Motorola M1) works flawlessly for a few days after setting it up.
Once it enters the "looking for Android Auto" mode there's no other way than removing cache and app settings and establishing the phone -car connection from scratch. And after doing so, it will work for a few days until it starts looking and not connecting again.
Is this a known issue? Is this specific to the wireless adapter? Once the error occurs, wired connection doesn't help.
I also have the AAWireless device somewhere and I'll have a look.

Check the Android Auto forums, maybe some info there...

My wife and I have been using wireless (and wired) Android Auto in our car with the P7P for three weeks with no issues like this. Our car's head unit doesn't have native wireless AA, though - we're using AAWireless. Could be just the head unit or the car needs a firmware update (my car has occasionally received one when I have it connected to my home's Wi-Fi).

I've noticed very different Android Auto experiences with the same phone but different car brands before. I've used Android Auto in either 4 cars so far, two of them rentals. I believe my rental VW's Android Auto was horrendously slow and hard to get the touchscreen to respond, whatever the next rental was, was fine. Chevy and Subaru have been fine, too, although my Chevy Android Auto experience seemed better than Subaru, but the Subaru is acceptable.

Bluetooth issues

I read through all the threads and did not see this one. I can't connect to the Android head unit in my truck with the Pixel. It worked fine with the 5x on Nougat 7.0 but not the Pixel. I have reset them both to no avail. I read today that it is a known issue with 7.1 that Google is addressing "Google's new phone is having trouble pairing or staying connected to Bluetooth in many cars" but worried since I did not see it on here maybe its my phone. Plus my head unit is essentially an Android tablet in the dash. Has anyone else experienced this?
I have mine connected to my 2006 Charger Uconnect without any problems. It sounds wonderful and does not disconnect. I have also connected it with several wireless speaker without any issues.
Sometimes rebooting the phone temporarily fixes bluetooth connections issues.
Has any experienced no ring-back tones when doing an outgoing call when connected to a Bluetooth headset device but making the call from the phone? It only stated occurring(I think) with the November release. I am on Verizon.
It appears the phone does switch to handset speaker until the call is connected. Very annoying for me as I use an in house Bluetooth device that connects to my in house phone.
There are known issues with Bluetooth connections and vehicles. See this thread from the product forums:

Major problem, Bluetooth music connection to car

Hi, has anyone run into this?
I'm used to play music from my phone to my car (Toyota Auris hybrid) over Bluetooth. Worked good with my LG G4 but with the Mate 9 it miserable fails. BT connects but it won't play anything.
There's loads of forum messages around since nougat came out, it seems to be an android 7.0 problem that seems to be solved in 7.11
Do you guys have successfully streamed in your cars over BT? Please let us know!

I'll test it when mine arrives as I use bluetooth also.
Some other info, it really seems to be widespread and only with cars. Will check if calling actually works, I was so busy with music I forgot to check.
Btw, I have a Pebble time steel and that now has a better and more stable BT connection across a longer distance than with the lg g4.
Update next day:
Car/phone BT connection is fine.
Audio suddenly worked after a few tries but no tags visible. Much in line with what others say. Really erratic behavior.
Same for my BT speaker, perfect connection.
Another update: It played audio only once. After some more digging on other forums it seems that Android 7 is the issue. A lot of cars won't play audio over BT anymore or just handle the stream only now and than. The connection is there, the song is playing on the phone, it streams to the car but there's no sound. Oddly when you receive a phone call there's no prob whatsoever.

My Nexus 6P on RRemix rom rooted with Marshmallow does this with 2017 Audi A4. Only thing that makes it come back is to hit the bluetooth icon in notification tray off and back on, and it syncs back up with sound. Try that? It might be a Huawei bug?
I had a similar issue on my mate 8. Spotify worked but deezer didn't in relation to showing what's playing etc.. it's likely to be nougat 7 as I've got a pixel xl and no issues with 7.1 at all over Bluetooth to my car. Looking at a mate 9 though as I miss the bigger screen

I have had issues with my S7 Edge where everything connects up and all seems normal but when it plays it either delays before sound works right out of car speakers or you have to do a dance of connecting and reconnecting before sounds works properly. Also think I recall similar glitching with my previous car and my previous android phone but maybe it was previous phone (Nexus 6P) and current car (2015 Nissan Murano Platinum). Only regularly ever play podcasts in car from Beyond Pod app, BTW. Occasionally play something off YouTube but don't recall it glitching.

I have a Japanese 2014 Mazda Demio, and my Chinese Mate 9 (MHA-AL00C00B109SP01) connected, played music no problem, over bluetooth. The artist/song name shows up. But it doesn't support browsing the song library like the iPhone or Galaxy S7 did.
I also have issues to connect my mate 9 to my car (Renault Laguna 3 from 2011). I simply do not succeed to connect the phone to the car: when I try to connect, my car gives me a 4 digits pin number to enter into my phone to establish the connection, I try to connect to my car from the mobile, the box to enter the 4 digits opens and closes before I have the time to enter the digits with a connection error message.
I suspect a software bug on the bt connection with pin validation on the mate side. I can connect without issue to a standard Bluetooth speaker.
I think some cars, maybe many, just have suck computer systems. It is why I always laugh at the idea of self driving cars - like these same morons that make these terrible in car computer systems will be worth trusting to drive you around.

I also have issue on Bluetooth with my Renault Megane 2009
I had to choose nomade device to pair my mate and I have some problem on mp3 play-back that suddenly stop where has it continue on music player.
It seems to be better since I install A2DP switcher from playstore but don't know why
So I have had this issue since I got the phone yesterday and just got it working in my 2012 Toyota Tundra.
Settings > Apps > hit the 3 dots > Show system processes > Bluetooth Share > Force stop, clear data. After that try pairing your device, mine has stayed connect with frequent breaks for 5 hours today
No issues with 2 of my vehicles.
I'm having no issues at all. I'm connecting to a Tune2Air bluetooth adapter ('11 A4 doesn't support Bluetooth streaming).
same issue with Pioneer Android Auto unit.
Sometimes it works out of the box, sometimes music plays (as per screen indicators) but no music, sometimes music plays for split second and stops.
disabling/enabling BT helps
no issues when phone is connected over usb with android auto
Same thing with me as well. I have reached out to Huawei but no response. I have a US version
Just got a new Huawei Mate 9 from Optus Australia. It would not connect to my car bluetooth although it would connect to two bluetooth speakers I have. Optus technical support finally resolved the issue by changing the car bluetooth PIN from 1111 to 0000. Looks like a Huawei bug in that it can only connect to devices without a PIN or with a PIN of 0000. Checked my speakers and one has no PIN and the other has 0000 as the PIN. Hopefully Huawei will fix this.
I have a recent Japanese Mazda, as well as a gear s3 or a Huawei watch connected at the same time, and no issues with Bluetooth at all with any recent Huawei firmwares.
My Fabia plays over BT just fine, Android Auto plays it fine too.

I previously reported no issues, but now BT is very problematic. For me, it seems, the issue stems from multiple connections. Before I needed two bluetooth connections in my car: one to the car itself for phone calls, and one to a BT adapter to stream music to the car's audio system. A couple months ago, I added a Huawei watch to the mix, and things went south. Typically I'll put my watch on in the morning and it will connect to the phone no problem. But when I get in my car, it doesn't want to connect: the car itself is not connected at all, the phone reports that it's connected to the BT streaming adapter, but no music plays through it. If I turn off BT on the phone and turn it back on, typically that will fix the streaming, but not the phone call connection. The phone will report that both the streaming adapter and the watch are connected, but not the car. If I click on the car connection, it will then connect. The watch connection in the list with then lose the "connected" status, but strangely, it stays connected.
So, I can't get three devices to say "connected" in the BT device list simultaneously, BUT if I turn BT off then back on when all three devices are available, THEN manually connect the car connection, all three will work, even though only two of them will say "connected".

In-car bluetooth won't auto-connect

Running the AT&T Variant and though audio and controls work fine in my car once paired the phone is not pairing upon seeing my car stereo.
My LG V10 worked flawlessly in this regard, usually withing 10 seconds of starting the car.
I've tried bluetooth auto connect and tasker but they only work if I toggle bluetooth while the car is on.
If I toggle bluetooth without either of those installed I just get the pop up showing there is a device available and it has about a 30% success rate at connecting.
There is also an issue every few times where even if it connects the skip buttons do not work and no track title is displayed.
It won't connect to my BMW at all!!! What a holy crap.

I tried Samsung Music and Play Music. I verified Media Audio under BT was enabled. Mercedes Benz 45 AMG.
I have a Toyota and it connects flawlessly, T-Mobile variant. I can even go to the car while it's in the garage and leave my phone in the house and it's still connected to the car.
Strange, mine connects instantly (Ford Falcon - Aussie car).
Mine will connect with my car (Kenwood unit) flawlessly. I have to fiddle with it in my other car (Jeep with UConnect), while the wife's S7 works with both.
I've yet to figure out how to get it to auto open Pandora or anything when it connects. My Note 4 and LG V20 both did this seamlessly
Appears to be a "known" issue with S8 - see this thread : https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...id/GS8QA/highlight/false/page/1/thread-id/299

I've tried so many times. even reset cache, Bluetooth cache etc. It adding and then disappearing from both- car and phone. I think it is got something to do with contact sharing but this box never pop out.
I had this problem with the S6 and my HTC Stereoclip (BT to AUX adapter for cars), I had to manually pair it every-time and it was one of the reason why I came back to HTC, now I got the S8 and apparently it's the same problem.
Some BT devices auto-connect but not others

HTC U11 MirrorLink on Subaru Legacy 2017 (Or any HeadUnit)

So I can't seem to get this to work. I downloaded Rock Scout, plugged my U11 in plugged it in, it shows "Use USB for MirrorLink" so I switch to file transfer usb and I get a new notification saying "MirrorLink Active", but my "MirrorLink" icon doesn't activate. I know the Legacy has MirrorLink v1.1, does anybody know if I have to do anything else to make MirrorLink work?
Also has anyone gotten MirrorLink to work on any car HU?
I posted a reply b4 didn't seem to work. To mirror htc u11 to a car head unit.
1. turn head unit on select mirror
2. have phone on a homepage
3. swipe up with three fingers this turns on mirroring.
4. select car entertainment system or whatever comes up on your phone.
That should mirror across it worked for me and my kenwood head unit I just installed.
remember every time you leave mirror to listen to music or directions or anything. to get back to mirroring you need to follow the steps again.
Hope that works for you as I said it worked for me. Good luck Chatto
I checked on cert.mirrorlink.com if your htc has mirrorlink and it is not showing up.
if you go on your phone settings at device connection or network connection (i don't remember exactly) can you see MirrorLink service there?
I think Subaru's mirror link version is not compatible with their crap head unit? I don't know. Yes I see "MirrorLink connection" in the USB connection settings. When plugged in, the phone thinks it's on, it just seems like Subaru's implementation doesn't recognize it, and of course a lot if not all the 2018 Subarus come with Android Auto. Guess they got tired of everyone complaining MirrorLink was foobar'd.
I stopped caring/trying. A bit of a shame actually.
What's the benefit of MirrorLink vs just bluetooth pairing? I just use bluetooth with my Kenwood, though I don't think it supports MirrorLink, and the Subi we have is a 2013, which also doesn't support MirrorLink that I know of, but also has good old bluetooth. Is there some secret i'm out of the loop about, or is it more or less trivial prefrence?
Well mirrorlink could let me use, say Waze on my headunit display instead of buying a mount and mounting my phone. The gist of mirrorlink is basically you can get your phone display on the headunit. But yes bluetooth works.
Anyway for those interested in what I see and the "version" of software on my headunit:
Settings showing mirrorlink active: http://imgur.com/a/cNymR
Notifications saying mirrorlink is on: http://imgur.com/a/TYMfM
my headunit version info: http://imgur.com/a/5cl14
Maybe its a version issue and I need an update, but bottom line is, if Subaru says they have it, and my phone has it, it should work. However judging by the feedback around the internet, it would appear Subaru is at fault here somehow. So shame on them for choosing poor technology and/or having engineers implement it poorly.
Double post. Sorry

You are correct, I didn't see it on there either. But it's clearly on the device. Check my post above. Maybe it has 1.2 on it and Subaru only supports 1.1. (They had the same issue with 1.0 and 1.1). I sent HTC a question about it so we'll see.

If Bluetooth then HotSpot

Greetings.
I have a Pixel 2 and I just installed a Android head unit in my car. I am looking for an app or script that when I get into my car and my Pixel connects by bluetooth to my head unit it turns my Hotspot on so my head unit can get internet connection. I tried IFTTT but that doesn't have an option for it. I am new to Android a bit but pretty computer savvy. Has anyone seen an IFTTT like this or know of how this can be done?
