If I need firmware for my device, do I need it from my region? - General Topics

I can not find firmware for my device that is from the US, is it ok if i use from another area( I live in US)?

Without specifying the brand, model, version of your device, the only answer you’ll get will be:
- yes
- no
- maybe

Samsung s7 tab sm-870 android 12L

Why don’t you ask in the relevant sub-forum then?

I mean, if you install it from a very known country or the firmware is supported there very well, then I see no issues about it.
If you want to install it from your country, I won't stop you. But installing from a very supported country may be beneficial for some reason.

If you are in the USA, then it would be better for you since the USA is a very good source for getting firmwares.

I'm from Norway, but bought my watch in Louisiana, USA in November.
I've got R760OXA1APK7. (USA)
Us csc:r7600xa1apk7
(sgp) ap: R760xxu1apk7
csc: R760oxa1apk7
Any luck getting the R770 (Gear S3 Classic) Firmware?
I will post both firmwares over the weekend.
Samsung pay is only compatible with AMEX and Citibank cards in Australia.
So can we do anything with these yet? Is it possible to flash from one region to another? I think I was misled into buying an international version since I can't get Samsung Pay working.
I'm not sure if the modem from AT &T would be any help. It might brick the watch.

Cross flashing is very risky. It can brick your watch. Im very excited to see somone has a look at the modem for the R-765A model. Not good with IDA or any other assembly. I hope some kind soul will look into adding su support and also disect the modem.bin for any hacks.
Also with the LTE service we need to use an extended eSim profile to be loaded onto the watch.

I ended up bricking my R770 by flashing the R765 firmware to it. It worked fine with the R760 firmware. I figure since the R765 has the LTE modem and such, it didn't like that one.

Mexico and USA model

I'm from Mexico and I have FRD-L04 model. It's supposed to be the USA model, but the firmware (in compilation) says: FRD-L04MEXC567B121. The USA model says: : FRD-L04C567B122 (without Mex and with 122)
I have read but I don't find anything about the differences or if they are the same. I hope you can help me because all about Roms and updated talk about the USA model.
MEX is for mexico, it is normal
As long as your device works perfectly in your region and you can get LTE/4G reception you should be good.
the version numbers are similar so there wont be much if anything changed between the two

Question S908N KTC to KOO

Hello fellows
So my issue is a bit long so sorry for that
I got this phone 3 days ago
S908N KTC Unlocked ( I live in Middle East and the SIM is working just fine )
I didn't know that this was a branded phone from KTC, I thought it was unbranded KOO
So right now I want to change the firmware to KOO to get rid of the KTC Boot animation and the KTC bloatware/settings
So how should I do that ? Just flash the KOO firmware using Odin? do I need to change csc? is that risky and may trigger Knox and block the phone ?
and after that can I just flash like the middle east firmware ?
Thank you in advance and sorry for taking too long
I'm attaching a screenshot of the CSC and software version of service provider
Use samkey. Pay for a key then change your csc using it

Yes, but some users already tried and it worked. I remember reading one or two days ago about exactly this...it says it is not supported but it works. I recall it was an Exynos device not SnapDragon but should work the same

Thanks for confirming
At least it appears possible to root it and maybe install a custom rom.
I assume that only the rom builders might be able to create a solution for the N version as an installation option in a rom.
However they might not be motivated due to the small number of people having the N versions. Unless of course a few of us agree to contribute in the form of a donation, then maybe a developer can play around and make it happen. What do you think?

well, I'm not really planning to root as this will trip knox.
Any news on changing KTC to KOO? I rooted SM-S908N, installed app Phone INFO+ Samsung, but don't see a way to change CSC. It just sees KTC region. Chimera Tool also gives info SM-S908N is not supported device. So, is there any way to get KOO or at least get rid of KTC Boot animation and the KTC bloatware/settings?

I successfully changed KTC to KOO using Shell exploit method mentioned in S22 thread.
Also, yeah without root and without triggering knox.

We tried to save some bucks by buying international units, and here we are stuck with US firmware. They knew this will happen so they planned it that way.

if it's snapdragon, then you can try to enable CA using unlock band guide available in S22 forums.
If you are not able to access service menu, you can get it using Samsung Shell Exploit forums in S22.
Using jio and using 5g on it
