Hello All, I successfully rooted my phone but now I can't get the Google messaging app to verify my number for rcs. Anyone know what to do? In the US running TMobile.
You haven't used the dial code to disable carrier check (to force Volte) have you? If so you need to re-enable carrier check to register your device for RCS. You can then run the disable carrier check again and RCS will remain.

It was enabled, I used the dialer code, disabled it, and cleared messaging data and opened the app.....would you suggest I turn it back on now?

If you have RCS now, it will still work. You can disable carrier check.

I used to have the same problem - I don't know why but what always fixed it for me was using the stock Xiaomi messaging app first. then opening messages and making it default.

Yeah... I tried the dialer code to disable and then I opened the app and it worked! I'm glad you have another avenue for other people to try Incase the other method I tried doesn't work for them in the future.
To enable RCS chat you have to have carrier check enabled. It is enabled by default, but some users have used the 'disable carrier check' dial code in order to get VoLTE. If so run the dial code again to to re-enable, set up RCS chat, and then disable it again for Volte. Also, you can only have RCS chat enabled on one device at a time, so you must disable RCS on your old device before enabling it on this device. If you no longer have your old device Google has a website that allows you to disable it on your old device from the website.

Hi,
I've not been able to receive authentication codes (via SMS) from sites like skype/facebook etc on my Nexus 5 for some reason. They have my "real" Sprint number (not the google voice number), and I don't have google voice integration (I only use google voice for voicemail).
I've sent an inquiry to Sprint, but thought I'd check here to see if anyone else has noticed this issue, and hopefully, get a workaround
Thanks!
Call Sprint customer service and tell them you want to enable sms "short codes" I believe is what its called by default Sprint has these disabled I had the same isue a few years ago. A quick phone call they will enable it on your account and should be good to go from there

I am not sure about US but however, when I do seem to have such issues, I take my SIM out from my phone and then insert the sim in a basic phone like Nokia 1112 or any other basic set (SIMFREE). Then I just ask for Code on whatsapp/skype/viber etc using WIFI.
Either you get the code on your basic phone or you ask for a call to listen the code to authenticate it
I hope this helps and works for you too

Thanks @hshshawn - glad it is not a device specific issue (though it doesn't explain why my previous phone - S4 - was able to receive these). I'll ask Sprint to verify this. Maybe they disabled it when I switched over to the Nexus

Thanks. In this case, I ended up requesting the code by Email, so that worked. But I'll try to call my carrier to confirm that they haven't blocked short codes.
I appreciate your response

I'm using GV. I had issues trying to get it to work at first. I tried a few things to get it working. First I just changed the section in call forwarding to my GV number. Seemed to work ok. But if I remember correctly To get it actually working I had to go to my google voice account on computer and go to settings. Then select deactivate google voice on this phone. It then gave me the code to type into my phone. Then I went back and hit activate my google voice number. Again it gave me the code to enter on my phone. After that I just went through install and setup for GV app on my phone.
The deactivating and the re-activating did the trick.

Awesome! Glad you got it working.
Or, if you switched carriers (and opted for a new number) like me, you can just disable the old number. I forgot to deactivate the old number before shutting off service to the phone.
Once upon a time I enabled the built-in DIGITS feature on my G5. I used to have two lines, and didn't make much use of my LG tones at the time. I no longer have access to my second line, and am using only the line on my SIM card. I removed the other line, and have only my SIM line left. I'm signed out in Multi-line settings...
But now when I voice dial using my Tones (through Google Assistant), I have to pick up my phone and select a line to call from EVEN THOUGH I only have the SIM line on the phone.
I have done a factory reset, but this now seems to be a feature that is enabled by default with the latest dialer in the recent software updates.
Note that even if a contact has a line assigned to it, it will still pop up and ask me to select a line when using Google Assistant to dial out.
It's annoying and defeats the purpose of pushing a single button my tones so I can leave my phone in my pocket and make a call.
What can be done?
It can possibly be turned off in your account. Check T-Mobile app for settings and/or log in to your account using PC and by doing this your phone may disable the function.

How did you manage to do that? I'm having the same issue and can't figure it out.
Anyone have any luck setting the google assistant permanently/setting up google voice?
Google assistant won't stay set as default, even when all breeno system apps have been removed.
Got the phone yesterday and still setting everything up but under assistant options the option to access with voice match is greyed out - is that what you mean? The Google assistant app works fine.
Other issue is I am unable to use a different app for SMS but this seems to be an oppo constraint?
Other than that great phone!

hi scdoyle
I have the same issue with SMS!!, one question do you get group message!? I left a new thread under Q&A. However if you have, have you done anything with settings ?!. I use Whatsapp to text some of my friends that have the app and works great. However no everybody uses that app.

It looks like I receive group messages as a MMS just from the sender. I do not see the other recipients and therefore cannot respond to the group. Is that your experience?

I am experiencing the same issues. Voice match unable to toggle on.
Not sure if Oppo will allow a third-party sms app unfortunately, or they've made it fairly difficult to say the least :/
anyone have solution with voice match... i wonder is there anything to do with permission... it seem a lot of permission for application are disable by default and we need to spend some time to get it enable

I face the same thing. I have to keep enabling assistant every hour which sucks.
Same for me... ?
So T-Mobile just announced that they were partnering with Google and switching to Universal Profile RCS (https://www.t-mobile.com/news/rcs-with-google). However when i open Google Messages and try to enable RCS/"chat features", I get a message saying my device "does not currently support this feature". I know Samsung Messenger works work RCS, so I'm not sure why Messages doesn't. T-Mobile Support on Twitter was useless and outright stopped responding to my DMs, just saying if they option isn't there my phone isn't compatible.
Anyone out there using Google Messages and got chat features to enable? If so, did you do anything special to get it working?
Don't feel bad, it's not available on AT&T for any of the S10 line. But it is for the S9, LG Stylo 4 and a bunch of other cheap phones ??
Don't know what to tell you. I have an S10e on T-mobile, and I've had RCS chat features enabled for months. Try deleting all Data Storage for the app, and try again (note: this will not delete your messages).

Unlocked. I bought the US Unlocked version on-line from an independent seller. Then put a T-Mobile SIM in it.

And you're using Google Messages? Weird. I only recently installed the app but I'll try cleaning all data.
Edit: Looks like it was permissions related. I allowed all permissions and now the menu populates.
