Hi,
I installed the most recent OTA for the GM1913 : OnePlus7ProOxygen 21.E.30 OTA 4300 all 2210120522.zip. After my installation locked my bootloader, i restarted my phone in bootloader mode and used the command fastboot oem unlock, which I had previously tested to work on Android 11, but it failed on Android A12.
FAILED (remote: Device cannot be unlocked for technical reason.)

You can unlock the bootloader only on A11, on A12 it is impossible. You need to go to A11, unlock bl and then go to A12.

Hey guys , many people were having problems downgrading their device so i thought i should make this thread.
I have downgraded my phone successfully and this should also work for other variants.
So let's Start
Prerequisites :
Phone with Unlocked bootloader
Drivers Installed
Phone Charged to 50%
Phone having Nougat Soak Test
mfastboot and adb
How To :
First Setup adb and Fastboot , by extracting the mfastboot-v2 file in the C:\ directory. So that the files are in a folder in the C directory. Ill name this folder as adb.
Download the correct firmware(Stock Marshmallow) for your device , I have links to all down below.
Extract the firmware files in the same adb folder.
Download the run.bat file . Link below
copy the run.bat file inside the adb folder
Open your phone in bootloader mode by first turning off your phone. Then pressing and holding power and volume down at the same time for around 3 seconds.
Connect your phone to your computer via a usb cable
Double click and run the run.bat file.
After the window closes. Start the phone by selecting the start option in the bootloader mode.
Tap the power button to start.
That's it Now you have successfully downgraded to Marshmallow.

Yes this should work .
I have a locked bootloader and im on soak build NPJ25.75-2.
Do I need to unlock the bootloader to flash this new soak build. Or can I downgrade to MM without unlocking bootloader.
I dont understand that if I'm flashing official files then why do I need to unlock the bootloader.
What I want to do is to update to the lastest build of N from soak build without unlocking bootloader.

I think you'll have to flash Marshmallow as described in this thread. Then sideload the update OTA via recovery.
If anybody is unable to download from FileFactory (like me), and happen to be on the XT1643, download link for the stock ROM is available on this thread. Happy Nougat times!
it ll unlock the bootloader?

Found this series of blog posts that describe the Emergency Download Mode (EDL) on Qualcomm-based mobile devices.
This thread was made for us to discuss the possibilities around this mode and what benefits could we achieve for our phones.
I have not read them completely yet, but there is a mention of a Secure Boot bypass exploit against a Nokia 6.
xiomi EDL mode does allow to PUSH Twrp after altering the FASTBOOT ROM,
if Nokia is providing Fastboot roms then may be!
it doesn't unlock the bootloader! its just push Twrp so that you can flash modes to disable dm varity and magisk

Yes, it works but on Nokia5 and Nokia6 models only. Most of newer models does not switch to EDL mode. The question is still open: how to downgrade October SP to July to have ability of bootloader unlocking and rooting?

Flash firmware via ost tool,ntool
Flash system via fastboot
If want root... Can use patch boot of trisi... Now nokia 8 more easier

I have no choice because I have updated to Oct. SP, my boot is locked and no possibility to roll back or atleast unlock bootloader. So EDL - is the only way to roll back to happy times with the root, freedom and customizing.

Before July update, YOU got unlock.key,
Then after septemer+ , before Pie-version, did you trie to get the second bootloader-unlock.key? because they changed bootloader? and also I am not sure if they givve away again from oreo and officail app a new unlock.key?
I don't dear to try out, fearing not getting anymore unlock-keys from hmd, need to secure more information.
I am trying to get a new key via official app but it is telling me that google play service isn't installed, although I downloaded open_gapps-arm64-8.0-pico-20190327 and was flashed via twrp and restored to original stock and still the official app is complaining about no play services when I am logged in to google-account inside the phone.
FYI: I donwngraded to oreo 8.0 and for experiment purpose I am trying to test if I will get a new key.
Thank you for replying. My problems are now gone, because I have recieved an official new bootloader unlock key. Now I have 2 keys for old and for new firmwares, so now I can flash anything I want with no fear . I downgraded to Android 7.1.1 and dont want to update any more. Now waiting for custom ROMs.
I have the TMobile us gm1915 op7pro and my current firmware is 9.5.6 gm31cb
If I follow the root guides here on xda and I download OOS latest on their site is 9.5.4gm21aa and I use magisk on my phone to patch the boot.img and then root that way, will it erase my phone to where I have to start from scratch like a new phone?
To root you have to unlock the bootloader first. Unlocking the bootloader wipes everything.

You have to downgrade to be able to use custom ROMs. The ROMs require Android 11 because apparently OnePlus posted incomplete/unusable sources for Android 12.
I don't know if the downgrade package re-locks the bootloader so I would just unlock the bootloader after you're back on OOS11. I had issues trying to unlock the bootloader after doing the OTA to the latest OOS11 so I personally would do it in this order:
1) downgrade to OOS11
2) unlock bootloader
3) OTA to latest OOS11
4) flash custom ROM
This still doesn't work for me. I have downgraded to A11 and still get the error "FAILED (remote: 'Command not supported in default implementation')" The device shows up when I type fastboot devices but continues to return this error when attempting fastboot oem unlock. How do I fix this?
Boot into OOS 11, unlock Developer Options, and switch "OEM unlocking" on. Only then can you unlock your bootloader.
You can also search "oneplus 9 unlock bootloader" on Google.

You can install the OTA update from here. Just follow the instructions Google provided at the top of the page and you should be all updated. It's only the full images that require the bootloader to be unlocked.
Just go look up factory images for Pixel phones. You can install firmware right from the web browser. You don't need to have root. Root is optional.
Do you mean without an unlocked bootloader? Root is not the same thing and does not determine how you can flash firmware.
If your bootloader is unlocked, you can use the Android Flash Tool. If your bootloader is not unlocked, downgrading is impossible.

@Albi Lukaj, Please be aware that unlocking your bootloader WILL WIPE YOUR DEVICE AND RETURN IT TO STOCK!!!
If that is not preferable, you might try applying the OTA like stated in Post #2, but I am not sure if it works downgrading a version (it probably doesn't)...
