Question [CLOSED] Native app lock in android 13 - Google Pixel 7 Pro

Hello Fellows,
After many years with oneplus, i jump now with the new pixel 7pro.
So i'am very disapointed with one thing ! there is no possibilities to lock some app !
I use the smart launcher pro to hide and lock all apps, but one by one it's impossible !
I don't want to use another app from the store, so what's your solution and advise ?
Thanks a lot

Individual App Lock in Settings?
Hi all, I'm new to Google phones, I got my Pixel 7 Pro on release day after having a Huawei Mate 20 Pro for the last 4/5 Years. Is there anyway to have individual Apps locked that require you to give your fingerprint to open them without the use...

Using P40 Pro without GMS - missing specific functionalities without GMS ?

Hi folks,
I am very interested in the P40 Pro, but as many others I am concerned on what will be missing when I would try to get along without GMS.
A few things have not been covered in the many documents and videos I checked, so maybe users already well versed in the Huawei Non-GMS way can help here
- I am using a 3rd party calendar (Calengoo), would this be able to sync to Google calendar without GMS? I specifically use Google calender in sync with my family, would that be possible without GMS?
- I assume all purchases (in-app or Pro versions) are directly linked to Google Playstore, so no way around without it - or is there a way (e.g. with Yalp)?
- access to Google Drive and specifically WhatsApp backups - any luck without GMS?
- syncing of Google Contacts (continously, not just one-time) without GMS - possible?
Please accept my apologies if all this has been answered elsewhere - in that case a short pointer would be much appreciated!
Thanks for your help,
Axel
not sure if you missed my post but everything you need for alternatives is here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p40-pro/how-to/google-alternatives-live-gms-t4081351
now you can make your life easier and just install gms on your phone so you can slowly transition from being without gms so your phone function like what you expect it to be.
Dear xnostra,
Thanks for your reply and the link to your excellent guide which I (of course) have seen and read and it indeed was one of the things that helped me much in understanding have to manoeuvre around lack of GMS.
My questions in the first post are not so much around software functionalities which can be replaced,as your guide indicates!
I was wondering whether some of the syncing (Calendar and contacts specifically) can also be done without GMS, using other apps for contacts and calendar to access my Google account.
Thanks,
Axel

hi sorry to make the answer short all the things you mention will not work without gms unfortunately. thats why as you see in my previous answer i mentioned ``to make your life easier just install gms`` before you install those apps youll need to install gms otherwise they will not work as expected.
I really really want a P40 Pro and could quite happily replace most of the things I use Google for (I was iCloud anyway for a long time) The 2 biggies though that I believe cannot be properly worked around are Google photos and Google pay.
It is really frustrating as I am very disappointed with my (Exynos) S20+ and the Pixel still falls short, the P40 is overwise terrific. I am actualluy thinking of picking up another P30 pro instead but then as I uderstand there are no guarantees that google support will remain on that either?

p30 pro is not affected by the ban it will function as how its intended to from android updates google playstore and everything.
check my guide on finding alternative solution for your google apps its in the p40 guide section.
i had s20 ultra before i sold it after 5 days it was exynos and i feel scammed on it it functioned very bad compared to a snapdragon.

I thought the P30 only still worked because of an extension and that extension was not guaranteed?

I have P40 Pro for some time now and will share what I know to Your questions
-Phone Clone - moves nearly everything from my P30 pro to P40 including calendar data, call logs, contacts, sms etc. so the calendar is fine - but local!
-Purchased apps - I have several - they work (one is asking for some verification but nonintrusive ) of course No updates
-I did not try
-sure NOT
I was perfectly happy wit P30 Pro but both P40 Pro not only for camera But to try a world without GMS - It exists and works - but it's not the same - I missed Google Duo (I can install it from Amazon but can't connect), in a long term I expect some inconveniences - as I have some subscription apps and they'll expire eventually...
I think the prospect of android without the google services does actually have some appeal but I fear in real life losing things like photos, Netflix and Google pay would be frustrating.

I dont think it's possible using the default skin because Huawei wouldnt have bothered including it, but some launchers do support it and I've seen here people say it works. I think i saw someone say they used Nova launcher with an addon to make it work.
I use Microsoft Launcher and so it has the MSN news feed etc to the edge and I just use the Google app to access the G-feed when needed.
I tried the ADB mod to disable Huawei assistant that did bring the Google feed on other devices but it didn't work ok the p40 pro. Even after installing GMS.
Thanks for the replies, I know I can use the app, but swip left is so useful and quick. Huawei also don't let you customise specific topics which is annoying, and do not capture info from as many sources
i tried adb commands to disable this btw, usually for p30/mate30 this brings up google feeds on left hand swipe automatically, but not for p40
Hi,
I use smart launcher 5 and you can configure and have Google feed by installing a bridge from the official site for this.
And I think it's a great launcher apart from this.

Filmic Pro App

Hi everyone, I was reading Huawei community forum and some people are saying that Huawei denied working with developers of Filmic Pro App. I really hope that's not true, because this camera could really use app like this. Does anyone have more info? Also there is info that they are working on Camera2API which will allow instaling this app, so I really don't know what to think.
I am replying to follow this topic, as well. Bought a P40 Pro and don't want to return it and don't want to jailbreak it in order to get Google Play Store just to get Filmic Pro, and it not work to it full capacity.

Is it bricked? Cannot flash stock Android to remove ArcaneOS

I recently purchased a used Pixel 4a, and I now understand why the seller was offering such good price for it and why he refused to respond to me now I have it. This phone has ArcanseOS 10 installed, which has only 3 apps installed... Setting, Clock and Calculator. There is no Play Store app, no Phone app, nothing.
I have already started this conversation in the Pixel 4a Q&A forum, so I do not want to duplicate it here. However, I am hoping this post will draw some additional attention to it... I hope new eyes will bring new ideas of how to restore this phone. Please read here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ash-stock-android-to-remove-arcaneos.4285827/

Switch from iOS to 8T - some questions

Hello
I did pick an Oneplus 8T on Prime Day, its still sealed and
last 3 Days i collect some Informations about Android / OxygenOS and about Custom Roms and Debloat Stuff.
I had an Samsung Galaxy S2 as my Daily Driver , at this time Android was really Bad
in the end i Root and used Cynagon with Android 6? idk anymore.
since those Days i used Apple Devices as my Daily Driver, i try some breaks from the Apple ecosystem with an P30 Pro and S10+ ( for an Month ) but switched back to iOS cuz Privacy issues.
And this is the Reason why i start the Thread "Privacy" is important for me.
So how is the Privacy and influence from Google to Track and Spy at you if u:
1. Create a New Account
2. Turn everything OFF u can
3. Dont use Google APPĀ“s / Services ( Not that hard .. if coming from Apple )
4. Debloat with ADB
and using maybe only the Google Playstore.
Thanks for any helpfull comments
Lineage OS is officially supported on the 8t, for privacy i'd flash that and not use gapps. You can get your bootloader unlocked easily and be off the to races
Or just use oos and debloat all of Google apps with xxxnolimits magisk ROM
You can use Android without creating a Google account. You can also disable pretty much every app.
You do need a Google account to use the Play store. So if you want to install apps without an account, just download APKs from the internet.
Just curious, what kind of information do you not want to share with Google? Or Apple for that matter?
