Question Charging speeds low? - Google Pixel 7 Pro

Hey hey,
With the battery at 12%, I can only get to 17W-ish with the 30W google charger that comes with the Pixel Stand 2. What gives? I thought it was at least 23W?

I barely got 18.6W with an external battery.
I've tried a OnePlus 8 Pro charger and a Thunderbolt 3 and both only managed to charge with 6W.
Something's definitely broken.

You need a Power Delivery 3.0 brick with PPS to get full speed. But....I have that, and using many cables including the Google cable and I still haven't cracked 18w.

the google charger that I have does just that no?
30W USB-C Power Adapter
The adapter delivers up to 66% more power to USB-C devices than the previous-generation 18W USB‑C charger.

there is a difference between "at 30W" and "with Google 30W charger"... there are tons of articles on the web showing that the 30W is never reached.

The point I'm making is based on other people's comparisons here with different chargers and cables. I'm not arguing about Google 30 W charger.
But the person above is stating it's "impossible" because the chip is limited to "23w" which is completely incorrect since the fast charging supports up to 30W. But alright. lol

A 36W charge wouldnt take over an hour to fully charge a battery at 46%

So get 30W google charger or any USB-PD 3.0 (PPS)

Because the screenshot was taken right when the charger was connected and the time wasn't calculated straight away. It takes 1-2 mins to provide accurate information on the charging time based on an average charging speed.

@ppaasseeii
In nearly every case, you can`t read the correct charging speeds by Software.
You need a good USB Powermeter or a power measure device on the wall.

Alright, best I can do with the Google 30W charger: 19W (Accubattery) or almost 21W with the meter. Still 2W are missing but I guess I can live with that.

Recommendations for an External Battery Charger?

Can anyone recommend a high quality external battery charger for the S4? I'm familiar with Samsung's version - however, it only supports 700 mA, so it will take forever to charge a battery.
Are there any high quality external battery chargers that support 2A charging? Obviously, quality protection circuits are a must.
Clarification: I'm not looking for an external battery pack. I'm looking for a charger that will charge a spare OEM S4 battery.

I believe that's incorrect regardling the output of the charger. I'll have to take a picture of it, but it's definitely higher than 700 ma.
My samsung has two output ma, one is 1.7 amps. The other is 450 ma.

The reason website lists it as 700mA is due to the charger it comes with it is a 700mA charger.
I mean probably if you connect this to your 2A Samsung charger it will charge at 1.7mA, however if you connect it to the charger comes inside the box, it can only do 700mA at most.

Quick Charge 2.0 / Turbo Charge enabled portable battery pack?

Has anyone seen a Quick Charge 2.0 certified portable battery pack /external battery for sale?
I've seen plenty that say "with quick charging capabilities" but none that actually seem to have the qc2.0 certification.
Can anyone point one out?
Thanks!
I don't think any currently exist, looking at Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 site. The Anker Astro E4 alleges that it can charge a device up to 5V/3A.
http://www.amazon.com/13000mAh-Exte...KHJW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417704114&sr=8-1
The Motorola Turbo Charger, from what I can see online, is a 5V/3A charger which is the "basic" implementation of QC2.0 (you can confirm if you have it). So the E4 should, in theory, get you the same charging speed. That said, even at 2A the Moto X should charge in just over an hour since it has a fairly small battery.
Yes in theory but I believe and read somewhere that it's not just the amps being output, that the charger and the device recognize the qc2.0 software.
Quick Charge 2.0 isn't just amps, and as far as I know, nothing pulls more than 2A over micro USB, maybe the One plus one, but that uses an entirely different quick charging method.
Quick Charge 2.0 instead changes the voltage to deliver more electrical power to the device. Instead of 5v-2A, it can switch to 9v-2A or 12v-1.5A.
I haven't seen any battery based chargers that use QC2.0 yet.

Right, but like I said, according to Qualcomm's site there are no true QC2.0 batteries.
And yes, part of the QC2.0 spec is allowing for higher voltage charging, which gets around the voltage drop caused by pumping higher current through a wire. But there is also an allowance for standard 5V chargers at 3.0A.
Do we have a working charging meter app like current widget yet for this device? I have a 3.1A charger and have not experienced higher charging speeds.
If anyone finds one make sure to post it!
I'm just bumping this in case anyone has seen or heard of one.

It's legit, as it's been certified by Qualcomm. Unfortunately, the only place I've seen it offered for order is on alibaba, where there's a minimum 1000 unit order.
Edit - had found this thread when searcdhing for the pack, and posted, then realized there was a more updated thread reflecting the same. Sorry for the necro.
I was able to obtain a small quantity of these MP5200Q from the manufacturer. I am keeping a couple and selling the rest for cost plus fees.

I didn't say it was. It's not QC2.0, but it has the exact same output specs as the Turbo Charger. I've actually gotten a quicker charge out of my Anker PowerIQ wall charger (which is only up to 2.4A) than I do out of my Turbo Charger, probably because the Turbo Charger slows the charge as it gets closer to full. The Anker Astro E4 is also over twice the capacity of the Incipio.
http://www.incipio.com/ces-power/quick-charge-portable-backup-battery-6000-mah.html
Good find, but $90?! Holy moly. The battery is already portable. At that price, I'll just leave the phone plugged into the battery for a little bit longer while I'm carrying it around!

Samsung isn't "Quick Charge". It's their own knockoff/brand/flavor of the same concept.
So Samsung chargers won't work with any other brand phones, and you can't get a Quick Charge with a Samsung phone. Kind of annoying of them, but I guess they're free to do what they want.

It sounds like you're **assuming** because it failed, it must not be original?
I'm not so sure that's a safe assumption. Nonetheless, I'd avoid the oem charger (I have multiple of them) as they get pretty warm, as does the phone, when charging.
Go with something that is highly rated and certified for Quick Charge 3. The Anker I bought charges faster and stays cooler than oem chargers do. There are various QC3 mfg to choose from, get one with high ratings and u should be all set.
This is the one I got, it works fine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077HFFLMS/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

FYI, the V30 is also USB PD compatible. It will quick charge with type C laptop chargers as well as Pixel and Essential phone chargers.
Edit- Nekteck brand makes IF certified chargers, it is available from Amazon and I have a car and wall charger that have both served me well.
Agreed, Anker is a great brand. Aukey is another good one - their cables are terrible (at least for USB micro, in my experience). Still, these are two great ways to go without wasting money on the LG (or any other brand's) rebadging.
I always use Blitzwolf. They have some great chargers / cables.
I also bought an Aukey one and it seems solid.
Just to put in my opinion, I like Blackweb products.

Question How fast is fast charging?

Hello!
Got a third party charger that's 30W, and has good reviews on Google. However, even though on lock screen it says it's charging rapidly, I'm getting less than 9W/2A.

Check with an hardware meter
Wouldn't trust software reading
Damn I don't have a USB c meter at hand...
Let me put it another way, how long does it take for a 0-100 more or less, normally?

Well, I mean, I know it's not the Warp charging I had with my OnePlus, but...
0-50% in 30 minutes with a USB-C PD charger (I use my OnePlus 9 charger), 50-100% will take another hour and 25 minutes give or take.

Similar to my times, I think. Interestingly, when on my car charger it maxed out at 15W instead of 9.
Also tried my OP8 charger, no fast charge there.

A USB-C PD PPS charger like my OnePlus 9 and Anker chargers should be able to get around 23W peak but that drops quickly as the battery starts to charge so you're more likely to see that number with a lower charge.
It also massively fluctuates if the phone is doing anything in the background.
Yeah obviously, net charge is lower the higher the usage.
I don't care going to 23W, but 9W (if true) is pathetic! Time to look for an Anker charger, thanks for the suggestion!

This one should be perfect.

I have an older Anker that works fine.

Thanks for the suggestion!

This might help to explain it
You still really don't need that Google Pixel 7 30W fast charger
Pixel 7 charging tests reveal very little benefit to buying Google's 30W USB PD PPS charger versus using an older plug.

Cheers, great article. Got a charger for my wife's P6 too.
I suppose they're doing it for battery health reasons, wonder if anyone releases a switch for real fast charging...
I use a 30w Anker PowerPort Atom 3, and it charges from ~20% when the battery warning comes on to 100% full in around 90 minutes. Was $20 on Amazon. https://a.co/d/2FRLgos Anything rated for power delivery (PD) for android or power IQ (PIQ) for iphone ~25w/+ should charge it at max speed/power, according to all the reviews I've seen, despite Google claiming it requires 30w....although the one I linked is 30w anyway. The video directly above is actually the first review I saw staking that claim while doing my research.
Thanks. I've ordered the one from the link above and am waiting for delivery, we'll see how it goes!
