Question Something moving inside my pixel 7 pro - Google Pixel 7 Pro

Hi everybody,
i noticed something inside is not in place when i shake my pixel 7 pro.
Do you notice the same thing when you shake your pixel 7 pro ?

I suppose it's camera related. Maybe the lens.

I don't know if it's an issue to everybody. My photo module is well fixed and nothing move, i don't know if it's the lens. It seems to be inside. All i can say is that my pixel 7 pro is new ( less than 5 days) and he never fell down

Likely the OIS sensor from the telephoto zoom lens.

Nah, don't worry about it.
This is why your Pixel 6/6 Pro makes noise when you shake it
Is your Pixel 6 or 6 Pro making a weird clicking sound when you shake it? You're not alone. Here's what it is.
9to5google.com

It's the telephoto. Had the same issue with the S21 Ultra, and likely the S22 Ultra but never had one so can't confirm. If rooted there was a fix for the S21 Ultra if I recall, not sure the same would apply to the 7 Pro.

"issue" has been around in some phones since the S20 Ultra
it's the telephoto lense

Thank you everybody for you answers ! So no need to worry about that

this is how mine rattles, it sounds worse in the video though. I think it's normal.

Every phone with a telephoto I've used has the same rattle. Not a problem.

Just noticed I have the same issue and was admittedly pissed until I read this thread. What's weird is it wasn't doing this out of the box it somehow eased into doing this... I went through all the Sounds files for ringtones last night ... Wonder if the vibrations loosen something up. Glad you posted though

I directly checked mine and it also has this "issue". But I also checked my Huawei P30 Pro which also has tele, but there is nothing.

I'm pretty confident it was, you simply didn't notice it.

You can try and trigger the OIS on the telephoto and hear if the sound is as alarming as before, and just to make sure, go to 30x zoom and not 5x, Google doesn't always trigger the telephoto lens.

It's either the Telephoto lens or the Image stabilization. It's not an "issue". Completely normal.
Even if I shake my 1200$ DSLR lens I'll hear similar rattling inside (mechanical parts moving, image stabilization is mechanical)

Google (well whoever makes the periscope lens) have done a good job with the Pixel 7 Pro i reckon, the noise is quite subdued, the Pixel 6 Pro however sounded like a rattle and Bez could have used it at a Happy Mondays gig.

For those who get this reference, will certainly get the reference

Now Jerryrigeverything has ripped a P7P to bits you can see why the periscope lens rattles.

I have fallen down my Pixel, and I noticed the noise, and I found this post.
Maybe some noise is not by the OIS? I have made some tests.
1. Use 5x camera. Shake from left to right.
2. Use 5x camera. Shake from front to back.
3. Use 1x camera. Shake from left to right.
4. Use 1x camera. Shake from front to back.
As in the video.
Your browser is not able to display this video.
I noticed that only "1" has no noise, maybe the reason is the OIS is being used?
All the other "2 3 4" has noise, the "4" 's noise in the video is not so clear, but actually it's the same with "2".
The noise between "Shake from left to right" and "Shake from front to back" is different. Maybe the noise of "Shake from front to back" is caused by my fallen down's breaks, not by the OIS? I am so disturbing...

Galaxy Note 8 At&t taking noisy pictures!

I recently bought a used note 8 which is taking very noisy (grainy) pictures, especially from telephoto lens. I'm really loving this phone but I can't live without a good camera. Is there any way to fix it?
I guess it is a hardware fault because I have also tried different camera apps. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Tried for hours, unable to upload.
Let explain to you:
Pictures taken has so much grain (which comes when ISO settings are set high). I have tried pro mod, it do makes a difference but is very laggy (slow shutter speed)
In short, pictures are too much noisy. Noise is clearly visible in viewfinder, specially when taking close up shots, using live focus or telephoto lens.
Primary lens also has too much grain visible when zoomed in.
I had used iPhone 7 plus which can take spectacular photos, note 8 pictures are worse than iPhone 6's. Definitely not what I wanted
Well, it is still a digital zoom, after the 2X optical zoom. Some of my zoomed pictures look like crap, but others work pretty well.
examples;
Looks pretty good, was documenting the hole in the side of a building. I was about 30 feet away, zoomed in pretty much all the way.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/7MPw7kraX2GyREVk2 <-- Brightly lit.
This one is pretty crappy. Owl was in the basement of my barn, 12 feet away.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/o4I0O8mukoOfBMsj2 No zoom for reference. https://photos.app.goo.gl/47vRH3xgXWXTjFJ02 <-- Not so brightly lit.
Your pics are better than mine.
Of course pictures loose details when zoomed in digitally, but mine is different story. It shows grains even without digital zoom. It shows visible static noise. Your pictures are waaaaaaay better than mine. I might return it today. I'll miss it, It's a great phone ?

I had the same problems. Them I sat it to 4:3 (12M). Turned off HDR, made sure I didnt use live or manual focus and my pictures are great! Check this site out. Youll see side by side comparisons of off the shelf note 8s and Iphone 8s. High end DSLRs require settings changes and different focusing and lighting for some pictures. But they are huge and expensive that they have room for all the mechanisms and sensors that you pay a hefty price for. This is a phone and some places you may have to use pro mode to get the right shot. The phone doesnt always know what a good picture looks like to you and in some cases cant figure out what to adjust to clean up the picture. Practice with pro mode.

Camera Random Rattle

Does anyone else note 20 U camera rattle at random time? Even when you're not in the camera app, like I'm browsing around and I would hear the camera rattle or switch mode. It would randomy make the same sound when you switch from photo to video.
But with camera on in multi window mode it doesn't do the random rattle sound any more when browsing around. Not sure if my camera or note 20 U camera is loose inside the phone or is this happening for others?
Example of this here: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=WTFsZGNBZU5tU0ZsOEdNQmVHanBXdlB0bXc1TGdB

Random Rattle???? Just shake the thing it is loud as can be.
so i believe its normal, MKBHD mentioned it in his review video. as to why this is normal or a thing (which mine does) im not sure.
yep totally normal and to be expected due to the design of the camera.
I don't have one but my note 10+ had a little bit of one in camera. Not really helpful sorry

It is because of zoom lens and optical stabilization of cameras
It's a feature by accident apparently...
Instead of having a landing zone i.e. parking feature so it doesn't rattle...
It's loose so everyone shakes them and the subsequent rattling cleans off the dust and other FOD from the elements.
Of course if the sensor gets dirty...
Another fetish! Let's shake our phones like crazy!
So to solve another problem (not enough battery), make a dummy S pen with a neodymium magnet that slides within. All that shaking moves the magnet in and out of the charging coil and the resulting EMF can charge the battery. Like a shake light, five minutes of shaking gives you an extra 10 minutes of talk time! Yeah I mean the rattle is fine because of the system.
But say I pick up my phone on my table and use it. It would make the same sound from changing to photo to video 2 second later when I use the phone. Is that actually normal? Because any slight movement it would make that sound.
Heres a video for example. Does anyone else do this?
https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=WTFsZGNBZU5tU0ZsOEdNQmVHanBXdlB0bXc1TGdB
Similar to my mirrorless camera with IBIS (Internal Body Image Stabilization). It's the lens shake rather than sensor shake. So I always remind my friends and even myself who have phone with OIS camera, don't shake or knock on the phone purposely (some people like to fidget with phone). Just imaging knocking the lens on table, it hurts.
It's the periscope lens that makes the sound. Zak shows this in his JerryRig teardown of the S20 Ultra. It has the same periscope camera lens.

Question Sounds coming from camera module?

Hi, I recently got my Xperia 5 iii and I noticed whenever an app accesses the camera there's an audible 'click' and I can feel a small vibration in the device.
Does this happen on anyone else's device? Or I got a dud? Pictures seem fine switching between the lenses work.
At 1st I thought it was the magnetic system in the zoom lenses but I don't notice this when switching between the zoom lenses.

yes it's normal.....was weird for me to at the beginning.....its theclense working while activating the canera.
I can hear clicking in the cameras when moving with phone quickly or shaking it. Even if camera app is not open. Does someone have that also? I assume it is optical stabilization rattling but not sure. Taking pictures seems ok. Although I notice very little shaking when taking pictures with 70/105 lens. Can someone confirm on your device? Thx.

Everyone has this
On mine, there is also faint electronics-sounding noise coming from the earpiece speaker (when the camera app is open, and the main camera is selected). I assume the speaker amplifier is picking up interference from the camera electronics.
Hi! Xperia 1 III owner here. It's normal that you here those clicks, it makes noises because of the moving lenses in the periscope cam. When you open the camera it move the lenses in place. And when you shake the device it clicks because you're retarded and shake it unpurposely the lenses are moving because of the kinetic forces
normal....no worries

Question S22 ultra not switching to 10x tele lens until zoomed till 14x

I have two snapdragon s22 ultra one purchased last week another a month ago
Whenever I reach 10x zoom slider (either directly or even by sliding, from any lens) it switches to 10x lens for a split second and then switches back to 3x lens and zooms digitally.
This happens irrespective of lighting conditions and distance of subject.
Comparing both my s22 ultras side by side I was able to confirm that this problem exists only in one of the phone and not in the other model that phone keeps 10x optical zoom and does not switching to 3x zoom.
Options
A. Any solution to this problem would be highly appreciated?
B. Want to keep formatting as last option.
C. The phone is just 7 days old shall i take it to service centre.
One possible clue, I can make that happen on my S22U in situations where the 3X lens can focus, but the 10X lens can't, for example something about 6 inches away. Then the switchover is delayed as you zoom until about 14x. I'm not sure if it is using the laser ranging for that situation or not, but possibly if the laser thinks you are close, for example taking a picture through glass on a window, it might not switch to the 10x lens until 14x.
But as I said I have another unit at my home.. thuis one constantly switch only after 15 x and not 10x. The other unit is doing perfectly fine for same subject

Return it. I had a similar problem with a Verizon 10+5g with the wide angle lens. Frequent camera error messages turned into always camera error message when selecting wide angle. Sometimes a tap on the corner to a hard surface would fix it but that stopped as a solution after a few times.
I would say if possible, return or change it. My first one was no issue with camera but heating issue.. replaced one; Most of the time randomly pick the regular lens instead of 10x lens. Also at 10x zoom color suddenly changes to fuzzy and dull.
Replaced. This one no color issue but 10x n 30x n 100x has focus issue. Cant focus correctly, output image is most of the time blurry which my first ome had no issue. But i decided to keep as i dont have that time to go n chamge again. I also don't keep phone too long, and i rarely take pic.

After taking the picture check in the picture details the focal length:
10x lens has 27,2 mm
3x lens has 7,9 mm
1x lens has 6,4 mm
0,6x lens has 2,2 mm
You can also just put your finger in front of the lenses to see which one it is using.
I have the same problem here
Any way to solve it?
I've seen this happen in low light. The Periscope 10x zoom is f/4.9, while the 3x zoom is f/2.4. I don't know what the optics of the periscope are, but with the extra reflections/prisms the "t-stop" is probable closer to 5.6 for the periscope lens. That means that the 10x lens gathers approximately 4 times less light, and sometimes the phone seems to stick with cropping the brighter 3x lens in low light because there just isn't enough light. Sometimes in really low light it seems to use the main lens as well.

Sure, but it's strange, because my dad's s22 ultra does not do this, only mine, in same condition. Thinking about changing phone, its my 3 galaxy with problem

There is definitely some weird logic that dictates which lens it will use regardless of the zoom level that you request. Is there enough light, can I focus, is the subject too close for the 10x lens or are they shooting through glass and the laser misreads the distance as really close; if one of those things is true it switches lenses.. It happens when you try to take a macro shot too, you can't really control which lens it is going to use and a lot of times you get a crop view that is lower quality from one of the main lenses instead of what you wanted. I've played around with it a lot, and I'm still not sure exactly what it is doing. For example, start out with the 10x zoom about 10 feet from something, then move closer and closer. At some point you will see a little jump in the image as it switches to one of the other lenses without telling you. Then back away slowly, and it does not appear to switch back, keeping the crop from the other lens; I don't know when it switches back. Still, it should not happen all the time, especially with good light and a good subject that is far enough away for the 10x, it COULD be a hardware problem with your device but you also could be falling victim to the complex logic they are using.
Hi All. Similar problem. I was taking close ups of flowers using the PHOTO mode... I had blotchy results at 10x. I did some investigations. It turned out that when using the PRO mode, all was well. I first thought that it was some weird image processing that Samsung did, but that's not true. The truth is that the phone used the 3x camera at 10x magnification on the PHOTO mode! I then discovered that it only switched to the telephoto lens at precisely 15x magnification. Very weird. I can get very good results at 15x. But, when using PRO, the switch occurs at 10x. Samsung - what is going on? It looks like purely a software issue? Paul
Update: I've just restarted the phone. All back to normal and as intended. Lenses switch at precisely 10x.
Update 2: No, this is not due to a restart. The same issue again. The switch sometimes takes place at 10x, but if the phone is to close to the object, the switch will take place at precisely 15x. Super weird and inconsistent.
Update 3: Ok, so the switch between the lenses (on the PHOTO mode) is dictated by the distance between the object and the camera. If the phone is too close to the object, the phone will want to use the 3x lens. Absolutely no issue for long distance shots. These switch at 10x. You have to be super carful with telephoto closeups as you can basically ruin the shot thinking that you are on the 10x lens but in fact you are on the 3x lens. The PRO mode does not have that issue, but then changing iso and shutter speed are a bit hit and miss as well.
Worst still, this is also happening on the VIDEO mode.
For me the middle lens out of three is used for 1&3 zoom and small lens under flash is used for 10x in standard mode. At least kind of, seems to switch depending on distance and also the lower of the three is used for 10x sometimes......
When in pro or expert raw it behave less erratic and uses the lens I choose.
Highly annoying tbh.
I recently discovered this issue and its really embarrassing. Not many of us will go into pro mode and fiddle but as a simple point and shoot. This is terrible.
I am on the latest Software AVF7. My 10x photos keep looking like trash and there is a lot of light around. But i discovered that if you open a picture within the gallery while at 10x zoom and return to the view finder, it switches to the optical and stays. Has to be a bug rather than a defect.
It doesn't seem to be an app bug. I am also on AVF7 and cannot replicate the fault. If it is an app bug, then resetting the camera, clearing the camera app's cache and data should clear it up.
How to verify if this problem is also on my default samsung camera? As far as I'm using my phone, I saw nothing wrong with those zoom lens, but just want to check to make sure.

Question Google Camera - update

I thought Google camera was supposed to be top quality. The picture showing in the view finder looks like its got a brownish/grayish filter over it with colors washed out, and the display keeps dimming with Adaptative brightness off. Often the picture looks blurry. Coming from OnePlus it's a very disappointing camera.
Update: Turns out I have a bad unit. After comparing camera quality to other Pixel 7 Pro, the difference is incredible. RMA back to Google

Sounds like your phone is defective because my OnePlus 9 was the most disappointing camera I have had since my HTC Mogul. I have yet to be disappointed with a picture from my 7 Pro.

Im leaning towards defective too. Im about to factory reset to see if that clears it up. It only seems to be the front camera, rear is good
The biggest thing i dont like about this camera is the extreme oversharpening wich destroys the image
yes, processing is up a notch since the 6. also the 7p tele is a downgrade from the 6. it's a shame. I use the tele on the 6 loads and love it. I don't think I can give it up for the 7 tele.
