In case you want to do the bootloader unlock/root thing and don't want to buy direct from google, Visible sells unlocked pixel 7 pros (I assume pixel 7 as well). I got one and unlocked it easily.
They also do 0% apr affirm financing, which is separate from your wireless service. Their plans are $30 or $45, and you can get a $200 gift card and free pixel buds pro after 3 months if you port in

GSTIN number required for indian developers ? how to get GSTIN

we got email from google today
Important tax changes for Google Play purchases in India
Hello Google Play Developer,
Beginning July 1, 2017, due to new laws in India, Google Play will apply a Goods & Services tax (GST) to paid apps and in-app purchases made by customers in India. The tax amount will be collected and passed on to you for you to remit.
Action required: To comply with the GST law, you need to update your Settings page in the Google payments center with your Goods & Services Tax identification number (GSTIN) and other relevant information. You therefore declare that the details provided are correct, and the address and GSTIN provided are in the location where the services would be received. Additionally, you agree to reimburse Google for any GST liability (including interest and penalty) in case of any misdeclaration.
Pricing in India will be GST-inclusive. In countries with GST-inclusive pricing, prices shown on Google Play must be equal to the amount paid during payment - all taxes (including GST) must be included in the price. If you have apps targeted to India, you can sign in to your Google Play Console to review your prices for paid apps and in-app purchases in India.
To learn more, visit the Google Play Console Help Center. If you have any other questions, please consult your tax advisor. You can also reach out to [email protected].
Thanks for your continued support of Google Play,
The Google Play Team

Hey I am also an app developer about to release my app on Google Play & now stuck with this.
Please share, if you have any more leads on this.
Thanks
Well this is a serious issue now. I also received the same mail from Google.
I emailed Google at ([email protected]) and asked for clarification on this, but did not got the reply.
I researched a bit on GST and here are my findings:
-> If you have a business, having annual revenue of 20 Lakh per annum or above, then you need to be registered under GST.
-> Every form of online business needs to be registered under GST, irrespective of the amount of revenues generated.
The second point is worth noting. The confusion here is that whether selling apps & games on Google Play comes under "online business".
Also check out the Google Play support article https://support.google.com/payments/merchant/answer/7421525
In that article, it says
GST must be paid on Google Play Store apps and games sold to customers in India.
App or game developers based in India must pay GST
Google collects and pays GST on sales of apps and games by developers located outside India

So as far as i understand this, we are required to get GST number. But wont need to pay GST tax because most developers in India does not make more than 20 Lakhs annually.
Anybody reading this please contribute your findings.

I am giving links https://www.hubco.in/articles/how-g...-india-impact-of-gst-registration-on-blogging , https://blog.cleartax.in/gst-bloggers-register, which say that blogging will be considered a service & income generated through Google ads etc. will come under GST. And exemption limit of Rs. 20 lakh is not applicable for blogging services.
It certainly looks now that paid apps will come under GST as well, without Rs. 20 lakhs exemption limit.
What worries me even more is, from what I have understood is a service provider providing services outside his state will have to file seperate GST returns for each state on 10th, 15th & 20th of every month. If this is true, then we have dark times ahead for paid apps with potential users from different states in India.

ClearTax says the whole scenario for online income like Adsense and GST is unclear and does not believe GST registration is immediately required.
This is getting confusing
Wow sounds like a lot of what is going on everywhere. There are discussions right now in the states about making people need business license and pat business taxes for apps they put in the Play store.

Yes, you are correct. I did not go through this properly.
I now wonder if GST authorities are themselves clear on how to approach this scenario
I received response for a query raised to Google & Google itself has no idea whether GSTIN is required or not :
"It is also important to know that due to recent changes in the GST law in India, if you are a developer in India, you will need to determine if you need to charge tax on sales to buyers in India or not.
In this regard, we highly recommend for you to reach out to a qualified tax specialist to determine if you are legally required to obtain GSTIN or not. Hence, if you are required to obtain GSTIN, you must input your GSTIN in your merchant account so that Google can collect taxes for you, and then, we will remit the collected taxes back to you so that you can submit it to the tax authority.
On the other hand, if you do not have a GSTIN number, you would qualify as an unregistered person. If you are not qualified to obtain GSTIN, Google would not be responsible for levy and/or collection of GST on your behalf, as per the GST Law. This means that you won't be collecting taxes from Indian customers. "

What a drag :/
The gst registration requires us to provide a pan id for business, which as an individual app developer, I don't have!
This makes it difficult even if we want to register. I don't think it is currently possible unless we have a registered company under which we sell apps.
Do any of you people have a registered business for publishing your apps?

Ya its crazy that their asking for PAN number of the business. How will individual developers have a registered company???
https://plus.google.com/+DickenChristianMe/posts/239Yrq7ZN8m
There's a discussion here if you're interested...
i just want to let you know guys if you are already registered as developer before GST you are good to go,there is no need to add GSTIN number and money will come to your bank wire transfer
GST and pan is mandatory now for new registrations
GSTIN number is optional
Indian government mandates all online businesses irrespective of their net income (Rs.20 lakhs threshold doesn't suit for us). If you are selling apps through Google Play Store or Apple App Store, you need to register for GST. Once you are registered for GST, you should start collecting the tax from your customers and pay it to government. For Google Play and Apple App Store apps, we should show the price which is inclusive of the GST and then pay the GST to government. NO EXCEPTION WHATSO EVER!
Regarding the ads revenue from Google AdMob, We aren't liable to pay GST on the revenue. Since our contracting entity is Google Ireland for AdMob, the revenue is considered as export. We are doing business with just AdMob, not to its advertisers. Since we shouldn't bother about the ads that are shown in India by AdMob advertisers. GST is applicable only to the sales occurs inside India. GST is not applicable to the sales outside of India. Since we are selling the ad-spaces to Google Ireland (AdMob) which is not located in India, the revenue from AdMob is not taxable under GST even if it is more than Rs.20 lakhs.
Did any app developer register for GSTIN? If yes, what to fill in "PAN number for Business"? No leads whatsoever
