If it was caused by flashing a ROM, did you factory reset and wipe cache and dalvik cache after flashing the ROM? Did you try wiping the system partition before flashing the ROM? Wiping system before flashing the ROM is sometimes necessary with some ROMs.
If it caused by the ROM itself and not by the flashing procedure, you should post your issue in the ROM thread where you got the ROM from so that whoever built the ROM can fix the issue. You could also try flashing a different custom kernel for your specific model number and android version to see if it corrects this issue.

[Q] About flashing new CM Nightly builds

Aloha all)
Need wipe before flashing next CM Nightly builds?
Thx
I am not sure if your question is clear or not,
anyways,
it depends, if you are coming from stock or another custom rom then YES.
if you are already on a nightly and you want to update to newer builts, usually a wipe is not needed. i said 'usually' because we never know what are the changes.....
Example) I have a cm_crespo_full-13. Need wipe before flashing cm_crespo_full-14?

Nope, you only need to wipe when installing a new rom for the over a different rom.

This is somewhat accurate. But for the best possible performance it is recommended to wipe.
But yeah, pretty much... just flash it and if you encounter any sketchy problems. Perform a fix permissions (if FC's occurs)... or Wipe cache, factory settings, dalvik (then do fix permissions after restoring apps) before you make a thread about your problem.

Flashing problem, or oversight

Dangit, guys, I hate to be an idiot, but I've looked and looked and cannot find what I'm looking for. I tried flashing pa and cm and aokp and every time I flash the aosp keyboard force closes and almost every other app just won't open. Again, I apologize if this is common knowledge it if I have missed it, but I for the life of me can not find a solution. I came from a GNex, and everything was just so simple about flashing on that. Thank you in advance to anyone who can and will help.
Did you check the md5 on the roms before flashing? And are you fixing permissions after you flash?

To add onto this, what options do you select to wipe the phone prior to flashing these roms?
Yes and yes. Weird thing is I tried it on my wife's s3 and same result.
Which GAPPS package are you flashing for these JB 4.2 roms?

Make sure you have matching gapps for the rom version. 4.1 gapps for 4.1 and and 4.1.x and 4.2 gapps for 4.2 roms
After I threw up in my mouth a little bit... I realized i don't have an iPhone

Weird custom rom issue

Just got my n5 and decided to unlock and root it, everything went well until I wanted to flash a rom, no matter what rom I flashed I got all kinds of issues from all apps force closing to bootloops, soft keys not working ect. I've tried flashing stock img, factory reseting ect, nothing seems to work. I'm not sure what's going on here, any help?
I am probably already asking you questions you have already done but... Have you reformated the system, data, and cache partitions prior to flashing? Also are you checking the MD5 of the ROMs you are trying?
Yeah tried all of that, md5's are correct, thanks though
what recovery and version are you on?
what wipes exactly are you performing?
you've checked the md5?
Ok. just trying to narrow things down. When you flash the stock image from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#hammerheadkrt16m are you running the flash-all script? And after that before even adding any apps or changing anything does it give you issues?
@xBeerdroiDx
I'm using cwm 6.0.4.4, wiping system data and cache, and yes I've checked md5's
@neomorphix
Stock works perfectly fine but custom roms gives me issues I listed above, not sure why

are you flashing a gapps add-on package with your custom roms? the right gapps?
Do issues apear straight after flashing the custom ROM or once you start loading apps and changing settings? Also are you using another kernel with the ROMs or the one that comes with them?

Which ROM were you previously on?
Try this, wipe cache, dalvik cache, system and data manually in recovery. Flash my ROM. Wipe cache, dalvik cache and data in recovery again than reboot. Leave your phone to settle down for 5mins before setting up

Did you try to flash any mods after flashing the ROM? Xposed?
No one reported issues with the ROM except for you so it might be an error on your side. Could you try to install OxygenOS first, do a full wipe in TWRP, install my Oxygen-mod and see if any issues still pops out for you?
how to install?System ui stopped error constantly after install!I am doing full wipe in TWRP(TWRP 2.8.6.0.5)

Could your grab me a logcat and specify which ROM were you trying to flash, what's your previous ROM and firmware etc... The more info the better. Telling me only "system.ui FC" is not helping at all as multiple reasons could be the cause of it.
Supersu is included in the ROM already.

Same issue here... SystrmUI FCs right after first boot. Can't access settings menu either to activate USB debugging.. So can't grab a logcat :/ Also the sim doesn't get detected.
These are the steps I followed to install ROM -
- Complete wipe (except internal storage)
- installed ROM
- installed oxygen modem
- reboot
- FCs start after setup screen
My guess is it is something new you included in the build.prop which might be causing the issue.. Can u link me to the older version?
can you please tell how to install your ROM . I already have Oxygen Os in My OPO. Thanks

Head over to settings to disable HTC Input. Use CM file manager and head over to system/priv-app and copy out HTC_IME into your internal storage. Delete the app from system/priv-app, reboot and use any file manager to access your internal storage and install the app again
quick settings pull down
Just flashed the rom. Everything is looking good!
Question: will you add the option to disable quick pull down of the quick settingsbar in the future? (or is it there already and did I overlook it?)

The problem seem to exist as there are some people reporting it,
Try to reflash the rom again
DON'T REBOOT
go back and flash gapps
DON'T REBOOT (some people reported that flashing gapps after first reboot causes issues then you will have to factory reset)
Do a factory reset again without flashing the rom
REBOOT

Data
Cache
And Dalvik
there is also an option in twrp to factory reset with a arrow swipe
go to wipe
then you will see a arrow, swipe it. and then try to use your phone and see if there's a battery draining, it seems to be a problem with gapps. since i think you did flash them after the phone's first reboot.
