Question 5guc on TMobile - Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

just switched to TMobile. Using esim. Was on Verizon forever, but they got really bad, cut offs, poor service, lost towers with power failures... Then they wouldn't let me use my unlocked phone for full features, always said generic android. Anyway, in my area Tmobile says its 5guc. My indicator only says 5g. Anyone in a 5guc area getting the correct symbol?

yes, T-Mobile, physical sim though.

Is yours an unlocked phone, or carrier phone? I read somewhere unlocked phones don't have same indicator. Thanks.

My previous phone was a Pixel 6 Pro. It showed the 5GUC symbol while I was at home. My new Flip4 just shows 5G. I have no idea if it's labeling or if I only get 5G.
Do some people get the 5GUC symbol?

with the Flip4 & Fold4, T-Mobile purchased devices should see 5GUC. Unlocked devices simply see 5G

Thanks, so does that mean it's just the UC symbol thats missing or does my unlocked version not use that frequency?

Yes, if Ultra Capacity is available you will get it, but whether you are on 5g Extended (5g) or 5gUC the symbol remains the same. Only way to tell is testing internet speed. 5g not that much slower than 5guc, but yea, we all want what we pay for . Just switched to TMobile, was with Verizon since the beginning of cell phones, they have really slipped. I know get 5g in places Verizon barely covers in lte

I use unlocked Samsung devices, live in a 5GUC area and even though it's not showing the UC icon, I'm getting speeds (700+) that are not capable on anything but UC. I'm not concerned one bit.

Small update: The Sept update released yesterday fixes the icon issue, and Unlocked devices now show 5GUC when it's available.

Yep. Mine starting showing up correctly

Data not working at all

So having recently upgraded from an unlocked T-Mobile device running on ATT, I was expecting that I would have better connectivity since the T-Mobile device I had didn't have support for a lot of bands. However I haven't had data work at all since setting up this phone.
Full disclosure, I'm on blackwireless. But it's an ATT mvno so I should still get their network.
But I'm getting zilch.
Talk and text are just fine, just no data.
I'm also not fully used to the interface on this phone cause my old one had actual "bars" in the icon and would also say LTE or 4g. Maybe both, is it sad that I've already forgotten just three days into owning a op7?
Firstly, anyone else an blackwireless, or ATT having issues with data?
Haven't yet called blackwireless because their support is 100% outsourced.
Had same with T-Mobile, it wanted me to sign in...and that page said this plan has no internet. So I called support, they ran a diagnosis but before it could finish ! Near the lte disappeared and it worked

Have you looked at your APN settings?
Sometimes it just doesn't select anything or it's empty!
You're right. That was the exact problem. I ended up calling the support line and it was a much better experience than I remember. And there were several apn to choose from. I just had to choose a different one according to their documentation.

I know. What I meant was my old phone was T-Mobile. My op7 I bought direct from OnePlus.com

running ok on Verizon?

Hey all, considering getting a new phone, and this one seems like a beast. Currently have a pixel 2XL. On Verizon.
given that there aren't many choices for an unlocked bootloader on Verizon, how is this one running? Call quality okay? Any problems with the CDMA data? with all those things in mind, any advice on what model or what source I should use to purchase the phone? Thanks.
Running fine, the unlocked version works on all the carriers, popped a sprint Sim and it worked for 30 seconds before Sim locked up unforantly no support on sprint unless one plus 7 pro 5g. T-mobile was terrible what ever reason, full bars 1mb speeds or call couldn't be placed. Best place to buy is direct oneplus.com
Yes it does. Got mine from OnePlus website. But Id recommend looking into how to tweak the sim cards settings to work better on verizon. Once I did that, ive been getting way faster network speeds. If you need help doing that let me know
id love to know about the sim settings. im on verizon... phone works better than i thought it would. I expected more areas with poor to no reception... instead i basically get the same coverage i did with my s10, but if i can make it better, i sure want to.
thanks

Likewise I would love to hear the tweaks for Verizon.
There is no cdma data. I've not missed it much except in the forests of Oregon. Turning on roaming got me service though on the extended network.
WiFi calling and Verizon video chat doesn't work.
Other than the pixel, about the only other choice on Verizon would be an unbranded Moto.

Kb2005 with BA rom on T-Mobile network

Silly question,
I have international model 2005 with European ROM built on it. I'm with T-Mobile. Could any of those (2005 and/or BA rom) affect the quality of reception of 5g?
T-Mobile says they don't have any 5g issues in my area but I always get download of 40mbps max at 5g.

I get 6mbps at 5g lol. 100mbps lte. guess which I use! I've got a T-mobile 2007 model. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that 5g is too new to really be able to tell with these things yet unless you can get a different phone to test in the same area.
If you want super fast 5g, then stand under the tower. 5g signal is fast, but doesn't travel far or well through buildings. Carriers need to put up a lot more 5g towers.

5G makes a huge difference at my house on T-Mobile.. I'm a couple of miles from the tower with tons of trees around. LTE around 7-10mbps on average. While 5G 50-100mbps. Huge difference.

I can't answer your Q. But I've been messing with this 8T my friend from T-Mobile gave me. I been trying to get the OEM lock to un grey I tied everything I can think of. Anyway I was deleting ”bloat” and was just going through a list pm uninstalling stuff and the 5G cut out and never came back untill I did a reset. So maybe you can look and see in a package list. I'd be to post what ever is on my on pm packages list and maybe you can figure out what you need I can rip the APK from my phone or you can look for what ever you need.

You need to sim unlock first. Then submit to one plus to get the unlock code and flash that. Then you can unlock
T-Mobile's 5G speeds are hit and miss. In Hampton, I get about 100Mbps to 120Mbps on 5G. Over in Glaucester, it gets close to 200Mbps. Over in Charlotte, I am lucky to pull 60Mbps, probably because of the university congestion. As more people get 5G phones, congestion will impact 5G a lot more than when it first started rolling out. Especially in areas where the population is very dense.

The phone is like some demo with a imei that starts with lime 990 or something. Anyway can I just pay an unlock service? And then get the unlock? Also it still works I did the temporary unlock that expires January 2021 it works with tmobile 5G. Great with COD:M

T-Mobile Note 10 Plus 5G

I unlocked my note 10+ 5g from t-mobile, but it won't get service with verizon.
When I install a non-tmobile sim, the software does not switch from tmobile for some reason.
Also Sam Mobile only has t-mobile and metro pcs firmware availible for the sm-n976u
Does anyone know if there is a way to get the phone working with verizon? Thanks.
-God Bless
Try clearing Sim card tool kit data.
Network reset.
Clear system cache.
Edit Access point names to correct values.
That's all I got but sure there's more. Never had use more than the above but never changed carriers. Verizon advanced tech support should be able to help... AT&T would.
The Verizon Note 10+ 5G has a different model number. So they probably won't allow the T-Mobile/Metro/AT&T version on their network

I think you're correct. AT&T is compatible with Tmobile but not Verizon according to B&H Photo compatibility charts.
So it look like AT&T is in your future. AT&T is easier to deal with anyway. Do not use a corporate store though, use over the phone or online AT&T.
It may be possible to change out the C port PCB for the Verizon variant. Yes that PCB controls internet access. I can't confirm this is the only difference though! That PCB is only $20 and relatively easy to change out.

It's gets service with att, but it still has the tmobile boot logo. I flashed the att rom, but it didn't help. The carrier is supposed to automatically switch when you insert a different sim card right?
I also tried *#272*imei# but it says "unable to process the request"

Is it on Verizon or AT&T???
My 60 second attention span is kicking in... now.
As for switching sims I never had to.
The boot logo is the least of worries.

It's actually super difficult to hard brick a Qualcomm device, and even if it is hard bricked and only enters EDL mode, it can be fixed as long as you have the correct files.
There are too many safeguards in place between Qualcomm and Samsung - the average user will always be blocked from doing anything that would brick a device. There's really no danger in flashing firmware whatsoever

My method doesn't involve root, no. You can't root if you've taken an OTA update in March of this year or later
I hope I can be of some help.
I recently ordered a Note 10+ 5G - Locked Verizon from a popular online re-seller. When I turned it on, I was greeted with an AT&T boot logo. I was pretty upset, but I though I'd try to get it up and running on Verizon before spending a couple weeks sending it back and getting a replacement. I tried Verizon's online software and I couldn't get beyond the IMEI change. It kept telling me that the Note's IMEI was what I was already using with my Droid, which was obviously not the case. So, I headed into my local Verizon store.
Nothing they did would get my 4G SIM to work, so they swapped out for a 5G SIM for free, then switched my hardware IMEI numbers and proceeded to have a some difficulty getting on the network. After doing a network reset, it seemingly worked. More on that below. I was getting both data and voice over network. I was able to transfer my setting, apps, etc from my Motorola Droid with Samsung Switch. The phone indicates both 3G and 4G signals as I travel around town. 5G is not available in my immediate area, though it is in some cities I occasionally travel to, but I'm unable to test that just yet. I become aware that there are differences between Verizon's 5G and other networks and it seems the non-Verizon phone I have is probably for the best in terms of compatibility.
Unfortunately, texts frequently take 10-30 seconds to send. Images, gifs and other non-text MMS can take multiple minutes to send and sometimes just fail. Other times the recipient will receive them twice. I feel like this may be due to the poor coverage at my residence. Further testing in areas of good to excellent coverage are necessary. I tried changing the network settings from Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Mode, but anything other than the default "GLOBAL" would result in a disconnect of data and voice services. The only way to fix it was Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This would restore the Mode to GLOBAL and bring back data and voice services.
In an effort to remove the AT&T branding, I learned how to trigger a carrier switch, dialed the code and changed it from AT&T to XAA. That got rid of the AT&T boot animation and I was able to remove all but 2 stubborn AT&T apps. I noticed that my android version was 10 and UI was 2.5, so I set out to update.
This is where things got frustrating. Every attempt to update through the settings > software update was met with failure. Try again in 24 hours, it would say. I assumed this was because I was now using a Verizon sim on an AT&T firmware, but I wasn't sure. I thought I might be able to flash to a Verizon firmware, but after several versions and some more research, I learned that going from 976U to 976V was not possible.
So, over the course of several days, I learned a lot. I looked up the firmware releases on AT&T's website for the 976U and saw that they matched the T-Mobile and MetroPCS versions. So, I settled on a T-Mobile version of Android 11 / UI 3.1. It updated without any issues and even remained in XAA mode. No bloatware, no loading images, all settings and apps the same.
So, even though I have an unlocked AT&T Note 10+ 5G 256GB and you have a T-Mobile, the fact that we both have a 976U model, I think there is hope for you to get up and running on Verizon.
Hope this has helped.

Question U1 VS Carrier Firmware

I have a TMO S22U and basically I immediately flashed to U1. I'm just curious are there any advantages I'm missing out on being on U1 opposed to T-Mobile U? I know there probably aren't many but I'm just curious.
Some say U1 us better. I'm At&t so probably someone on Tmo will chime in. But for me, U1 offered nothing over U. I mean yes no At&t bloat but I can disable what I don't want on U to get the desired affect.
My biggest thing was the T-Mobile splash screen, it sounds SO DUMB but flashing to U1 made it literally 100% Samsung for me I'm just wondering what could have been lol
The only thing I heard, but I am not certain about is that you lose the TMO visual email capability. Otherwise I have not heard anything else. I am on TMO and I kept mine on U. As butchieboy said, I just disable what I do not want. In all reality, there is not much from TMO that is loaded on the system side. More of the bloat is from Samsung and Google.
Thanks for the speedy replies guys much appreciated
One thing I noticed when I did the same thing, was I could not get 5G Ultra Capacity to work. Not certain I was doing anything wrong, just wouldn't work for me.
I think I read somewhere that you do get it, but there is no icon for it in the U1 image. It will show 4G LTE. Check your download speeds.

I did, 2 days apart in the same spot, the icon showed 5G as did the speed test connection type, but the speeds were much slower than 5G UC, almost 400 Mbps difference. Switched the firmware, back to the insane, almost WiFi type speeds.
Did you check the mobile networks setting to make sure 5G is available and selected?

Yes, that was my first thought. It never quite worked the way I should have.
preinstalled crap apps on tmo firmware
The main benefit for me on the unlocked firmware is the built in called id and spam blocking. For att you have to pay extra and tmobile has it on its best plan. But still think it works better than tmobiles implementation. And since i change carriers often i like to always have caller id and spam blocking no matter which one i use.

Would've just been a considence. U1 firmware does connect to 5G UC just look at the service menu and it'll confirm if your connected to N41 or not.
But I moved back from u1 to tmv U firmware due to having weird call /sms issues where it would just stop working and only fix was a reboot. Hasn't happened since switching back to U firmware.
Here's an interesting question..
I was on TMO and I bought a S22U from TMO (unlocked it with them afterwards) and of course it was on 5GUC and everything (I used ESIM). I got another sim (Mint Mobile) and when used as primary it would show 5G+
After a while, and just out of spite of the hideous 4G LTE TMO icon I Flashed the U1 firmware.. I'm no longer using TMO as I ported my number to Mint and it has been good.. Would it make sense to return to TMO U firmware or should I stay in U1 as Im no longer using the TMO sim?

Probably fine on U1. You're no longer connecting to anything advantageous besides updates being slightly faster with U.
I'm with T-Mobile, but purchased mine directly from Samsung.. I have the S22 Ultra U1. Since my last phone purchased from T-Mobile A52 5G. biggest change, No daily spam calls or text.. What a difference that makes.. With T-Mobile, their so called Spam blocker was notihng more than a spam attractor. Plus no more of the hidious bloat and splash screen..
I have the unlocked and I dirty flash switch between U and U1 depending on which newest ROM is out. There's absolutely no difference save for the annoying TMOB splash screen and that it says UC ... But from my extensive testing the speeds are the same whether it says 5G on the U1 or 5GUC on the U.
