My pixel 3 battery drain issue NEED HELP - Google Pixel 3 Questions & Answers

Even with 2900mAh battery my phone last a day for me. Suddenly one night my phone discharged from 80 to 2% overnight in airplane mode and I found that 10%/h discharge on Accubattery (screen off). I checked my previous record it was 5%/h.
My phone also get too warm for idle. I tried shutting down and turning it back on and found that power button not working tried to turn on while charging it worked (Thank GOD!). I also found that battery drain continues even after shutdown.
Tried bitdefender (no problem found), factory reset, still the problem continues. any suggestions?
Accubattery estimation: 85% (2500 mAh)

If the battery drain happens quickly even with the phone switched off, then I'd guess it needs a new battery.
Another idea I've read somewhere is to drain the battery until the phone shuts off. Then keep trying to switch on the phone until there's absolutely no sign of life anymore, it might take a half hour. Then plug in a charger and let it charge to 100% before switching on. Supposedly, the idea is to calibrate the battery percentage meter and get a more accurate reading of your battery capacity.

It sounds like a hardware or battery failure, but you could try reflashing the ROM. Reflashing costs nothing, and there is a chance it could help. If it was me, I'd be looking for a new phone if the reflash didn't help.

Brutal Battery Drainage

So this has just happened to me. I wake up from my nap and wake my phone from sleep. I have "Battery Widget" and shows me I have 42% battery life on my phone. I literally go on RedditNews for 2 minutes and it drops to 35%...I go browse the web for a good 30-45 seconds and it drops to 0% and the phone shuts off...
Thinking about maybe factory reset...or I guess I have to go exchange for a new one?
Notice that dip at the end?

This exact thing happened to me yesterday. Showed as 40%, browsed Engadget for a couple of minutes, then it dropped to like 35%. Put the phone aside for 2 minutes, and I hear a beep noise - this was the battery low notification. My phone then showed as 13%. I thought this was very weird and let the phone continue to sit on my desk. Within 15 seconds, it dropped to 2 percent and died. I posted my screenshots in the Battery XL thread. I think we have a rogue app installed that is draining battery, or the battery is just not calibrated at all.
You can try the app Bettery battery stats. Or root it and use battery calibration to calibrate it.

Update: deleted my battery widget from the phone and turned off auto brightness now ny battery is great FWIW
Yeah man, I had some weird battery usage where it'll be on for 40 minutes and drain to 78% with like 20minutes of screen on time.
Here's the weird thing, my battery stats look good, no wake locks.. phone goes to sleep right after screen off. Then I'll check later and it'll say it's been up for 35 minutes. Like it resets the battery stats and is reporting wrong stats.
Reminds me of my Atrix days

Auto brightness is a problem with this phone. I havnt used it with my last 3 phones. I find it annoying going bright then dark
I opened task manager and under settings I turned off start at boot. Under sync I turned off books/videos and changed facebook to never since it uses push anyways.
Seems to help

Screwy battery behaviour - have tried batterystats etc

My phone has started to do odd things regarding battery charge level. Have tried full-charge-delete-batterystats more than once, tried restoring older version through CWM and that doesn't seem to fix it.
This pic shows the behaviour quite well:

The phone was shut down (with fast boot enabled) over night, and appeared to be off, but it was draining the battery quite fast and reports that the display was on, despite this not seeming to be the case.
Disabling fast boot cures this, but it never used to be a problem - I've used fast boot for months without this happening. And I quite like the fast power up.
I think put the phone on to charge, and it often seems to charge really slowly. I did a full reboot and left the house. Rebooting caused the charge level to jump up, and then it discharged as I used it quite heavily, before putting it on to charge when I got to work. Other times, when I do a reboot it'll drop 30-40% in charge immediately!
the phone is about 16 months old and maybe the battery is just worn out ... or is there anything else i can try which might fix it?

Hi,
WIPING BATTERY STATS, IS A MYTH
Looks like it might be worth trying a new battery.
That spike in battery % left when you rebooted looks like the standard Sensation battery goofiness... I replaced my battery at about the same age that yours was and its performance had definitely degraded quite badly. It would discharge much faster than when new and charging took longer as well. Replaced it with an Anker 1900 and it's better than ever. Lasts all day and charging is nice and fast.

[Q] Faulty battery readings - B5330

I'm experiencing some weird battery issues on my Samsung B5330 (Galaxy Chat). Since there is no GC forum and it's probably a software issue I'll wirte here.
The phone is full stock, no root nor any modifications were made, 4.1.2.
At the beginning of my adventure with this phone I experienced a problem with Media process eating the battery. That was probably caused by one of videos, faulty mp3 file or Gallery system application. Once or twice a day 46% of battery was eaten as shown in battery stats. However from time to time the phone just died and battery stats had just a blank space from the last reading The phone got hot because of CPU usage. As it also happened at night and affected an alarm clock and had to be dealt with.
I turned off Gallery, Media and Media history services (in App properities) and replaced them with independent applications. First problem was solved and the second one become clearly visible.
It looks like this:

}
There is nothing indicating extensive battery use:
The battery reading goes from 80% to 0% in 80 seconds and the phone dies. Nothing overheats, nothing hangs. After 1 - 2 days if 60% is shown and I restart it, it goes to 0% instantly.
It's either faulty battery or software bug :/
Any ideas what can I do with it apart from buying a new battery?
battery problem
This looks like a hardware problem (with the battery), my apenion is that it coudn't be a problem with some faulthy mp3, music or video player or so, it could be a problem with your background working apps / make sure you clear all of them and make sure you turn off all wify, 3g, edge and so in your phone settings, and see how much time it works then.
The com.android.media process as a source of the first problem is confirmed, as it is widely described on the net and it was noted in battery stats.
The problem is what is shown on the photo. I'll just buy a new battery since it's not expansive. I thought it may be a software problem as it looked like the indicator was not properly calibrated or refreshed.
The longest the phone was alive after solving the Media problem was over 3 days with everything on. It went down to 20% and then died.
This also suggests the battery...
OK, problem solved. Good ole' wipe did the trick.
The problem was purely of software origin as voltage of charged battery was marked as 100% but voltage of an empty battery was marked as 50%. So it reached 50% and died. After the wipe it goes down normally to 0%.

Phone turns off CONSTANTLY

My phone has been turning off at seemingly random times during usage. It started with the camera taking photos, then when the keyboard was about to be brought up, then right when the boot logo finished, now its when the white HTC boot screen starts. It seems to stop when i plug it in but after it take it off the charger its prone to turning off. I've gone the entire day without it because of this issue. Anyone else experience this / have a fix? Any advice is greatly appreciated at this point.
Its also worth noting i am on the latest FW and am running the marshmallow GPE rom, although i flashed a sense marshmallow rom and its was happening upon boot as well.
I'm still using lollipop on my m8, but my mother in law and I have had awful battery issues with ours. Sometimes it decides to die at 40% battery, seemingly while using barely any ram. The battery icon flashes red and turns off. Many times It won't register being plugged in with various chargers, including a brand new one. When it does, it will estimate several hours to charge, as much as 8!
As I type this, I'm stuck standing by a wall while it charges. It had 100% when I went to bed at 3am and was completely dead when I awoke at noon. (such a reliable alarm clock) I plugged it in and it went from 0 to 40%. Wtf. It estimates 3 hours and 6 minutes until full.
It may very well be a bad battery but it could be the sensor. Found this a while back on Android central, copied the relevant bit below. (http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...ry-charger-reset-procedure-htc-one-m7-m8.html)
This is directly from HTC tech support. To recalibrate battery and HTC charger when battery rapidly or erratically discharges, this procedure clears all battery stats, coordinates and normalizes charging.
Turn off Fast Boot in settings. Power off phone.
Plug phone into HTC charger and charge for two minutes or more
While charging, hold down volume up+volume down+power button and continue holding
Phone will turn on and off repeatedly every 15 seconds or so while continuing to hold all three buttons
Keep this going for 2 minutes, then release buttons when phone is ON
Now, let phone charge fully normally (with phone either on or off--doesn't matter) and battery level reporting, charging and battery life should be normalized.

Also, I don't know about yours but mine will drain the battery while searching for WiFi. So I usually turn WiFi off outside of my home.
Check out my battery chart. Haha.

Battery percentage suddenly droping to 0

Hi guys, for the last couple of days I've been having an annoying an constant problem, my phone has been randomly shutting down while browsing or playing a game, the battery indicator suddenly shows 0% and the shutdown dialog shows, but while the phone is shutting down the indicator returns to the previous number, when I connect the phone to the charger or I turn it up again it shows the same battery level that it had before shutting down, sometimes it shuts down right after I'd turned it on and unlocked the screen.

If I don't use it or just do some tasks from time to time the battery lasts until 20% where it shuts down as if it had reached 0% and won't turn on.
I've already calibrated the battery but still happens a lot, can anybody help me, please?

This problem happens with all phones as the battery deteriorates. A battery replacement is required to fix the issue.
