[Q] Faulty battery readings - B5330 - Samsung Galaxy Chat

I'm experiencing some weird battery issues on my Samsung B5330 (Galaxy Chat). Since there is no GC forum and it's probably a software issue I'll wirte here.
The phone is full stock, no root nor any modifications were made, 4.1.2.
At the beginning of my adventure with this phone I experienced a problem with Media process eating the battery. That was probably caused by one of videos, faulty mp3 file or Gallery system application. Once or twice a day 46% of battery was eaten as shown in battery stats. However from time to time the phone just died and battery stats had just a blank space from the last reading The phone got hot because of CPU usage. As it also happened at night and affected an alarm clock and had to be dealt with.
I turned off Gallery, Media and Media history services (in App properities) and replaced them with independent applications. First problem was solved and the second one become clearly visible.
It looks like this:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
There is nothing indicating extensive battery use:
The battery reading goes from 80% to 0% in 80 seconds and the phone dies. Nothing overheats, nothing hangs. After 1 - 2 days if 60% is shown and I restart it, it goes to 0% instantly.
It's either faulty battery or software bug :/
Any ideas what can I do with it apart from buying a new battery?

battery problem
This looks like a hardware problem (with the battery), my apenion is that it coudn't be a problem with some faulthy mp3, music or video player or so, it could be a problem with your background working apps / make sure you clear all of them and make sure you turn off all wify, 3g, edge and so in your phone settings, and see how much time it works then.

The com.android.media process as a source of the first problem is confirmed, as it is widely described on the net and it was noted in battery stats.
The problem is what is shown on the photo. I'll just buy a new battery since it's not expansive. I thought it may be a software problem as it looked like the indicator was not properly calibrated or refreshed.
The longest the phone was alive after solving the Media problem was over 3 days with everything on. It went down to 20% and then died.
This also suggests the battery...

OK, problem solved. Good ole' wipe did the trick.
The problem was purely of software origin as voltage of charged battery was marked as 100% but voltage of an empty battery was marked as 50%. So it reached 50% and died. After the wipe it goes down normally to 0%.

[Q] Please Help with AWFUL Battery Life

I have no idea where to even look anymore. I've tried MULTIPLE roms and kernels (with different settings) and have had no better results. These latest screenshots are with the phone on my nightstand with DS battery saver set to Aggressive (wake up every 2 hours for 1 m). The battery was fully charged when I went to sleep and I had 20% drain OVERNIGHT with 0 usage. I'm starting to get really frustrated and don't even know what to attempt anymore.
Please help!

Media is kinda high though. It could be your phone constantly trying to read a bad media file.
That would explain why it carries over through multiple roms since you probably keep transferring it over.
Could you post the "processes" tab results from better battery stats as well?

I've unfortunately since rebooted my phone so the stats are gone aside from those. Is there anyway to check over my files short of just erasing everything and starting from scratch?
The easiest way to move them to a computer and see if they display thumbnails/run properly. Corrupted files will be immovable or won't run properly.
If you have a lot of media it may be faster just to format /data (including internal sd), and reflash and reload your media from an external source (like a pc).
You'll want to make sure that it's "media"is what's eating the battery. We're those screens from when you were sleeping? Because it says an hour of awake time which is weird if you didn't touch the phone. You don't seem to have any unusual app wakelocks though.

Yep I was sleeping. Didn't touch the phone till I woke up and saw it drained 20% in 8 hours.

[Q] Battery life

Can you guys try this?
Set your screen to auto brightness.
Use your phone - web browsing. Now take note of your battery percentage (I use battery dr. so the percentage is on the top of the screen).
When the percentage changes - start timing. Browse primarily white web pages (news etc...).
Time how long before the percentage changes.
Mine is somewhere around 3 minutes (or slightly less). That makes it run around 5 hours (300/60) if it's consistent.
Is this what you guys are getting??? I just put in a new battery and to be honest it seems just like the older battery.
Thanks!!!!
I seem to be consuming 25% of battery in a hour of web browsing (stock battery). So, if you've upgraded to the 2100 mAh One X's battery, everything looks correct.
Thank you. I can't believe how fast this phone burns through the battery. GPS is a killer drain too.
Amazing how many programs start running as well without starting them (Battery Doctor shows me apps using battery).
Oh well.
You have the 2100 mAh battery, don't you?
Yes browsing drains the battery pretty fast. This happens on every smartphone,.though.
About the thousands apps automatically starting, most of them don't drain anything at all, it's not their fault.
try to change browser

No, I have a brand new OEM battery. I'm not sure but I think it's due to the AMOLED screen which just burns through battery when displaying white.
Not every phone burns through battery this fast. The One S is one of the worst. See this pict:

Battery percentage suddenly droping to 0

Hi guys, for the last couple of days I've been having an annoying an constant problem, my phone has been randomly shutting down while browsing or playing a game, the battery indicator suddenly shows 0% and the shutdown dialog shows, but while the phone is shutting down the indicator returns to the previous number, when I connect the phone to the charger or I turn it up again it shows the same battery level that it had before shutting down, sometimes it shuts down right after I'd turned it on and unlocked the screen.

If I don't use it or just do some tasks from time to time the battery lasts until 20% where it shuts down as if it had reached 0% and won't turn on.
I've already calibrated the battery but still happens a lot, can anybody help me, please?

This problem happens with all phones as the battery deteriorates. A battery replacement is required to fix the issue.

Question Battery drain problem (arrowos 11)

I think I'm having some battery drain problems on my Poco X3 Pro.
I've had the phone for 4 months, in December I installed ArrowOS 11, and it had a battery life of about 8hr screen time with wifi, social media, youtube, etc.
After installing an arrowos OTA I think I have seen a degradation in my battery life, now I do not reach 7 hours of screen. And at night it goes down to about 7% in idle. I charge my phone to 100 and let it run down to around 2-3%, I know this reduces battery life but in only 4 months? I have forgotten a couple of times and left it charging overnight, if that, it would have been 2-3 times in all those months. According to Accubattery I have a 90% battery life, I feel that it goes down a lot, but I don't know how reliable it is.
the last picture is from 1 month ago, before installing the OTA update.

Any solutions? Have the same problem
Battery usage can vary from many factors, and not always is about the ROM.
Your usage from the apps are not always the same, and also, apps can be updated to - not always in a good matter of things...
A drop from 8 to 7 hours of SoT is, in reality, nothing. Is inside of the range of values to be expected. The ROM update could have been just a coincidence.
Most of the times, users don't see difference in they activity on the device, but it may be something simple as use the screen in environments with a little more light - and Auto Brightness activated - leading to more bright screens... or just use in general.
still, is a great SoT in both ways. nothing to worry about - and don't panic with such range of SoT, is normal.
With the amount of social apps and crap you have running in the background, ni wonder you drain battery during idle time. Those apps wakelock the device while they connect and do their thing in the background. I have attached my overnight battery loss, with the apps I have installed ( including social stuff like Telegram, Whatsapp, Viber and mail client ).
So, you see, it's not about the ROM... it's about the crap you fill it with. And read up on app broadcast intents. By tweaking those, you can achieve miracles in battery saving.

My pixel 3 battery drain issue NEED HELP

Even with 2900mAh battery my phone last a day for me. Suddenly one night my phone discharged from 80 to 2% overnight in airplane mode and I found that 10%/h discharge on Accubattery (screen off). I checked my previous record it was 5%/h.
My phone also get too warm for idle. I tried shutting down and turning it back on and found that power button not working tried to turn on while charging it worked (Thank GOD!). I also found that battery drain continues even after shutdown.
Tried bitdefender (no problem found), factory reset, still the problem continues. any suggestions?
Accubattery estimation: 85% (2500 mAh)

If the battery drain happens quickly even with the phone switched off, then I'd guess it needs a new battery.
Another idea I've read somewhere is to drain the battery until the phone shuts off. Then keep trying to switch on the phone until there's absolutely no sign of life anymore, it might take a half hour. Then plug in a charger and let it charge to 100% before switching on. Supposedly, the idea is to calibrate the battery percentage meter and get a more accurate reading of your battery capacity.

It sounds like a hardware or battery failure, but you could try reflashing the ROM. Reflashing costs nothing, and there is a chance it could help. If it was me, I'd be looking for a new phone if the reflash didn't help.
