Hi All - want to flash my Tmobile 8t to Global, is there a way to bootloader unlock the 8T without waiting a week for the token code. I remember there was a way to do this with the 7T, hoping there is a way to do this for the 8T also.
Thanks!
did you founded any solution?

As far as I know that about phone info that is missing is purely aesthetic. Having it missing won't impact anything in any way,

Is there anyway to change the TMobile stock software to global oxygen OS, has anyone ever tried to rebrand the Oneplus 8 TMobile to global version?
What are the pros and cons
There are guides for just that in this very forum.
The pros are faster updates and more compatible mods cons are you have to reset and erase your device to do it.

Hello all!
Thanks for taking the time to click into this.
About me: I mostly see myself as a somewhat tech-savvy noob - I have rooted several devices in the past, flashed ROMs, etc.
New Device: OnePlus 8T T-Mobile Variant purchased from OnePlus.com
Condition: Brand New - never started the device
I would like to essentially imitate Calyx as described here.
=> install TWRP/Magisk + flash 'LineageOS for MicroG'
Questions:
1) Will I be able to unlock the bootloader given that this is the T-Mobile variant purchased from OnePlus?
2) Do I need to take additional steps because this phone is the T-Mobile variant?
3) basic question: I have never started the phone so it has no personal data - should I back up the current setup in case I need to return to OOS for any reason or can I track down the default OOS installation making that all unnecessary?
(I remember in the past default Samsung installations were easily tracked down and flashed using Odin).
4) Would you recommend any detailed instructions to go through the process of backup, installing custom recovery, accessing root privileges, flashing LineageOS for MicroG, etc?
(I feel like I am piecing parts together from different places and it's all not fitting together)
Thank you so much for reading this.... I feel like I'm going down several rabbit holes currently so any perspective or support is welcome!
It would be helpful to hear any thoughts from some more experienced peeps before I move ahead.
Thank you!
Currently, I am trying to get the SIM unlocked, then unlock the bootloader, and proceed with the plan above.
I am considering returning the phone and getting a different one that has more users on XDA to avoid having bizarre issues arise with the steps involved with the T-Mobile version of the 8T and being totally on my own.

whoa! that's helpful feedback. Thank you for posting!
Based on your comment, I am leaning towards returning the phone.
I think I learn best through examples and may need a little support.
I am now wondering how I can figure out which phones have the largest 'community' on XDA.
I have the T-Mobile variant. There's more support and options available so don't be discouraged.
Normally, you have to be SIM unlocked before you can do anything else, like bootloader unlocking. If the phone is being paid for or financed and you haven't been a long time customer you may or may not get it SIM unlocked.
That said, I got mine SIM unlocked after contacting the T-Mobile Tforce people on Facebook. Then I saw this thread on Rebranding the T-Mobile variant.

Following it I changed the T-Mobile firmware to the European firmware. If nothing else you get more recent updates and a local update feature (full OTA updates can be downloaded and installed locally). As a result of the conversion I was able to simply fastboot unlock the bootloader without need for waiting for a code from OnePlus. The phone is now bootloader unlocked and rooted with Magisk.
Note that according to the OP, SIM unlock is not necessary for the conversion but you'll still need to be SIM unlocked to be able to unlock the bootloader.
Now that I'm "free" I now have the itch for a custom ROM. Over the years all of my devices run either with microG or just UnifiedNlp but no Google. I feel the need to do the same here. Currently I just have most Google apps disabled and using FOSS apps in their place but still...
Besides LineageOS for microG, the 8T also has Carbon ROM and crDroid. They historically have always had signature spoofing support so I assume they still do with Android 11. That means microG can be used.
Check the guides and ROM/Kernel threads for more info.
I don't know if I can get to trying anything this week but I hope to. I work at a drive-in movie theater and with Spider-Man coming out this week I'll be quite busy.

Excuse the late reply.
No, not too versed on this device really. I searched for that error and got a lot of hits but didn't have the time to read up. Sorry.
Just a noob question?
Long story short I haven't had success unlocking T-Mobile..
I think I can unlock boot loader with msm tool.
My question is if I successfully unlocked Boot loader and flash any custom ROM will I be able to use any SIM?
Thanks

Just follow the 7 steps. Super easy and takes just about 5 minutes from start to finish.
Good luck!

Yes, your warranty will be void but unless you're really rough physically with your phone, there's almost nothing you can do to it that the folks here at XDA can't fix!

If nothing else, you can always use a separate MSM tool and revert it back to the T-Mobile version. No harm, no foul.

I think I read something about using MSM tool to flash EU or GLOBAL firmware and not need to request unlock code (which voids warranty) because I can unlock boot loader on the spot.
Can I revert to T-Mobile firmware with locked boot loader just I case if I have to return it for warranty
Thank you very much

The link I provided will convert your T-Mobile version (KB2007) to the EU version (KB2003).
If you need to go back to the T-Mobile version, there is a separate MSM tool to do that, it will also relock the bootloader at the same time for warranty purposes.

Another question
Can I convert T mobile to global firmware directly or is there any special process?
Thanks
Use the link I sent you. That will convert it to the EU version. Setup your phone using just the defaults. Then download Oxygen Updater from the Play Store and within the app you can choose what version (Global, India, European) you want to install/upgrade to.

Flashing to a different firmware does not alter the SIM lock/unlock state. If your device is SIM locked to T-Mobile, it will remain SIM locked to T-Mobile after flashing to the Global, EU, or other regional firmware. T-Mobile devices can only be SIM unlocked on the T-Mobile firmware.

No. You can only SIM unlock the device on the T-Mobile firmware. Flashing to EU or Global only allows you to unlock the bootloader.

You need to meet the SIM Unlock requirements for T-Mobile to process the SIM Unlock for the device Then using the T-Mobile Unlocking app, go through the steps and select Permanent Unlock. If it completes, the device will restart and will work with any carrier SIM.

I think they are websites that supposedly unlock Sim or devices.

Complete newbie here. I am trying to root my KB2007. I bought it on Amazon and after an update the Oxygen version is 11.0.13.13.KB05BA. I think I was able to get ADB figured out and the bootloader is now unlocked. I’ve looked at some guides and it seems like I will need a boot img that matches my phone to start rooting. I can’t seem to find this and my research has been telling me that the KB2007 is a T-mobile version that can have OEM unlocked can’t be done without a code even though I was able to without contacting T-mobile. Can anyone help me out or guide me on how to root my device?
