Hi everybody !
When I open the Google camera (Android 13), there is a green dot on the upper right corner of the screen.
Is it a display effect or a real LED ?
Any time an app accesses the camera that green light will appear.

This is a security feature introduced in Android 12:
Whenever an app is accessing your phone’s camera or microphone — even if only in the background — Android 12 will place an indicator in the upper-right corner of your screen to alert you.
When the indicator first appears, it shows an icon that corresponds with the exact manner of access. But that icon remains visible only for a second or so, after which point the indicator changes to a tiny green dot.
So how can you know what’s being accessed and which app is responsible? The secret is in the swipe down: Anytime you see a green dot in the corner of your screen, swipe down once from the top of the display. The dot will expand back to that full icon, and you can then tap it to see exactly what’s involved.
Tapping on any app’s name in that pop-up will take you directly to that app’s permission page, where you can reassess what types of access it does and does not allow.

It's an OLED display, so it's both.
If you want dedicated LED notification, Sony is the only or few that offers it now.

Aodnotify for Pixel. 4.5 stars and works great. I bought the pro just to support the dev but probably not needed.

Not sure how to explain, but I hade a Note 2,3,4, now I have this Pure XL, I just rooted, and I love it, but..
-I used to do when you slide your finger from the top to down with a samsung than all those "quick settings" options are like wifi, mute, location, airplane mode etc.
So is it a way to do this with the Pure XL?
-My other big deal is with Samsung you can access to the apps , but on the screens has only few , what you put there. With the Blu all apps are on the front pages...
-The last one, how can I use 5 instead of 4 Touchwiz apps?
Thank you!

You can do this by sliding your finger up from the bottom of the screen. It's an iOS control center copy

Do you mean you want to have an app drawer and/or have the ability to put more than 4 apps at the bottom of your home screen?
If so, then you'll want to take a look at 3rd party "launchers" such as Google Now, Nova, Action Launcher 3, etc.. I personally don't use any of them, so I'm not sure if you can have more than 4 apps AND have the app drawer button together at the bottom of your screen.

Hey,
if I going to the apps overview (when I click on the square) and reopenning the same app, my display flicker a little bit at the bottom.
Do you have the same problem? It is annoying. I recored a video. I cant post links (<10 posts). Please search for "pixel 2 flicker" on youtube and filter: today uploaded. Channel name "kome" I only have this (1) video uploaded.
Thanks in advance

Yeah even i do see a thin white line forming/flickering in the navigation bar while going back to the same app via recents menu. Any one else guys?
Looks like a software bug.
I think its the animation. I called the google support. This woman told me she has the same white line and it is normal. But I went to the store and checked two other pixel 2. One had the "white line" one did not have it. So I send my phone back and got my money back. I cant accept that a so expensive phone has this kind of error.
I think it cames from the animation. If you push the square button and pull the app a little bit higher and open the app, you see the right animation.. but I dont understand why this software is so stupid that it isnt working on some phones ..
This looks like an old thread, but this is the same thing I noticed but I guess I didn't pick up on it until it upgraded to Pie. Was it ever determined to be hardware or software?

To clarify, right now when I click the app on top in split screen, the bottom app pauses, and when I click the bottom app, the top app pauses. So the app that's not in focus is having it's activity paused/suspended. I'd like both to stay active at the same time.
Does anyone know of a way to do this? I'd be willing to pay for a solution.
Thanks!

Unfortunately, the official documentation for Multi-Window mode explicitly states that it is currently not possible:
In multi-window mode, only the activity the user has most recently interacted with is active at a given time.

It seems that google pixel 3 xl have a developer option for it, i wonder if we can see this kind of option in the future for all phones, it would be great, in fact it would fix the notification issues that its currently the mi8 and the poco f1 have because of the notch.
https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/10/10/can-turn-off-pixel-3-xl-notch-developer-options/
Notifications are already being looked at.
Yes, I m also thinking that, poco have very wide notch, even with notification icons beside notch is clumsy..
It would be nice if we can completely disable notch area and show notification under notch.
You can actually already disable the notch on Poco F1 by going to Settings - Full Screen Display - Hide Notch.

the notch implementation by xiaomi its just not good enough, the notification its not working well, and to be honest i rather have the whole extra mm screen disable completely and have that bezel but i can have back all notifications and normal status bar

You should post this on miui forum or tweet to jai mani. Its actually a nice idea. Plus our notch is not giant like pixel 3xl, so it won't be a problem if we disable that part completely!
Ok so i came up with nice idea for fixing that weird hide notch settings, those upper corners looks weird and mismatch with lower corners, but with cornerfly it looks great

I use Rounded Corner app not Roundr. Also Rounded corner app can go up to 115 radius which is a perfect copy of the bottom corners of our device, the only problem is that I have difficulty on pressing icons near the rounded corners.

36 is the most symmetrical right now but not as perfect as 115 on Rounded corner app..
ultimate notch solution —— just return to traditional display disign. hope developers can port this feature to Oreo since Pie don't support Xposed.

Get actual Samsung Edge Lighting Notifications with any app while your screen is off!
Since we all know Samsung only did half the job with this feature, this app will enable you to trigger Edge Lighting (the real one !) when your screen is off. It works with any app by reading the app notification creating a new temporary notification that triggers edge lighting (you won't notice it in your notification list).
You can set custom color filters for your apps, based on their names.
Features:
Real Samsung Edge Lighting
Extremely minimal battery drain
No fake AOD Screen
Works with ANY app (including Messenger!)
Initial setup is a bit tedious, but that's mostly Samsung's fault.
Any suggestion to improve the app is -of course- welcome!
Download link:

Patch notes:
Users using a version priori to 1.2 need to install a new version of the app from the market (link updated in the first post)!
v1.24
Fixed an issue that caused the app to crash for some users.
v1.23
Added a custom icon feature for each app (Premium feature)
v1.22
Added a switch to enable/disable display of system apps in the list
v1.21
Fixed a switch display bug when using the search feature.
v1.2
Just to explain: I had to create a new app on Play store because, for whatever reason, the Play Console won't let me update the old one.
- New super sexy interface
- Filter search
- In-app support purchase to remove ads
v1.07
Added support for Do not Disturb mode. You can still bypass it in the notification parameters on my app, but there is no way so far I can make it work on a per application basis.
v1.06
Taping an app icon now now copies its name to the clipboard for faster filters setup.
v1.05
Added a detailed help screen
v1.04
Finally added an icon for the app
v1.03
Fixed the issue about the switches resetting when you scroll

When you choose your edge notification style, you should be able to pick a color. Set it as custom and add filters from notification titles (which are the source apps names the way they are displayed in my app)

Hello, thanks for the application, now I want to try ... will the notification light remain on until I open it? Can you add an on and off time? similar to a led notification? Thank you
Works good so far, however, there is no app icon on the notification (generic android icon on gmail), also there is a ": nul" append at the end of text.

For now, no I just implemented a basic Samsung Edge Lighting notification, so you got what they designed.
I will see how I can make the notfication repeat at a fixed interval set by the user. I'm just afraid it will be extremely battery hungry.

With my app, notifications shouldn't wake your screen up but give you an edge light.
When you get in the menu for custom color, you have to allow my app ("Edge Lighting for all Apps") to send Edge Lighting notifications.
Edit: do you understand that Edge Lighting will prevent notifications from turning the screen on but instead display some kind of edge light while keeping your screen off?

OK thanks. It would be interesting to add that option. Does the goodlock edge light work? So is the LED only activated around the camera?
